Star - I am a seasoned dieter, I think I could probably do a nutrition degree without studying! Unfortunately the idea that you grow muscle at the same rate you would lose weight is a myth. Muscle takes a long time to grow and develop over a series of tear & repair cycles. People talk about measuring the dress size rather than watching the scales but that wouldn't happen in a few weeks. Thank you for your efforts though! I think Ronshar will probably have given up with me anyway by now.

Myjob - I know how you feel, I really do. I'm wondering if the lack of periods and how difficult you're finding it to keep weight off are linked. I believe you when you say you're hardly eating anything and while you are very slim, you're not emaciated so your expectations of maintaining your weight are not unreasonable. The problem with metabolism is that the less you eat, the less you need to eat and it becomes a downward spiral. It might be time to go to the doctor, just to check.

Myjob - In all seriousness I wouldn't start smoking again, I have tried a fag since quitting and it was vile. There are occasions when I really feel like I need one but it usually passes. There would be no fooling ds these days & I know it would break his heart if I smoked so I could never do that to him. However, young lady, cups of tea are not enough food to keep you going during the day until dinner. Your metabolism will shut down and you will start gaining weight whilst eating next to nothing. Plus, if eat too little you will never be able to cope with your babies on your own in the evenings. Take it from me, you don't want to get to the point where you can't concentrate long enough to read a bedtime story!

pistachio you have had a shit time haven't you~! My DH doesn't ever go away, luckily, but I have days like yours when he's here - I need to delegate to him more!

BAbyG is another one with a red, sore, hot bum.

Going for parents day for DS1 in 10 minutes - hopefully they'll have good things to say about him and not that he's a beast, DD finds out what part she has been given in teh school Christmas play today, she's VERY excited

50ftQueenie · 11/11/2009 10:08

Pistachio - I didn't cope when DH was away! I hardly ate anything, the house was a mess, but luckily it was before M was eating real food so I didn't have to worry about sorting anything for her. I was on the phone to him almost every night swearing and crying & screaming about how I couldn't cope! (poor DH) M wasn't sleeping at the time either and ds was getting up at 6am. I am surprised I didn't fall over from the exhaustion. I have no idea how you are managing to even muddle through with TWO of them at home to look after when your nights are that bad. I never manage to do anything when I'm home on my own with them, where as DH seems to get loads done when I'm out. If I could earn as much as he does, he'd definitely be the one staying at home! The fact that your dc are well looked after and you're not a nervous wreck sat rocking in the corner is evidence of how well you are doing!

myjob, I know that this isn't what you want to hear, but you are exceptionally tired, your belly is getting bigger and you haven't yet had a period. Please do a pregnancy test, to set my mind at rest if not your own. We will hold your hand whatever the results.

Pistachio - if you are all up and dressed by lunchtime and all fed and get to bed at some point in the evening then you are doing just fine, so you only need to work on feeding yourself. Do you have dinner with the dc? If not then I would recommend that you do.

Yuk for your night aubergenie. Did you give in and feed in the end? Ds has gone back to feeding at night after a few days off .

CSWS I am glad you said that before I did.
Cant stop but I shall be back this evening. Watch out Mrs Myjob & Mrs 50ft.

Pistachio. Take a deep breath. What is important gets done first. Things that do not matter get shoved under the sofa until you have time to tidy properly. Go to bed when the chidren do. Dont worry if you havent had a shower for a week.
Thats how I survived W first 6 months & that was with DH in the house.
W due jabs today but he is not getting them as he has bad poos and a sore bottom = tummy bug in my book.

Although I agree with CSWS and Ronshar that you should do a pregnancy test, there are other possible explanations! I was thinking you could possibly have a thyroid problem. They are common after pregnancy (I think Hmm suffers from thyroid problems or did) and can mess up your periods & cause weight gain. I remember you had a lump in your neck which we all said was a glad, but it could have been an inflamed thyroid. Obviously I am not a doctor (or a nurse like lovely Ronshar) but before you start panicking that you're pregnant, it could be something else. Having said that, do a pregnancy test first, when if it's negative, go to the doctor with a list of your symptoms (including moodiness & feelings of depression) & get this sorted.

Star my lovely!!!!! There is another Star (Star7) who has just joined from NM and she is pissing loads of people off! You might need to get over to the thread and do some posturing to defend your name! She should change hers out of courtesy and you should point out that you are not her & it's not you pissing everyone off. Her thread is here

pepperrabbit · 11/11/2009 17:49

50ft - I fear you are lowering the tone of my serious fb issues!
Grim day here with DS2, I feel for you Pistachio, I'm pants with DH away, which luckily isn't too often. I agree, my main aim is simply to keep everyone alive most days.
I cried all the way home from school today as DS2 has wound me up to such a point I couldn't cope with him. He screamed all the way to preschool, and then all the way home,he's quite happy there, but every morning is a battle for the tiniest thing. He was when he saw me.
We'll see how tomorrow goes

Can we have a new thread soon please? Now I'm a regular poster () I feel I can ask! My PC is v e r y old and takes an age to load the long threads

BabyG's bum is a bit less raw today, thanks. My Mum turned up unexpectedly today - she lives far away, so it was lovely to see her, but BabyG didn't have a nap as a result. He fell asleep in his highchair at 5.45 holding a sausage piece of meat! He didn't wake up even though I changed his nappy, put his babygro on and put him in his grobag, bless

Blimey - I just can't imagine a baby having all that done without waking. But then I've never had a baby who will just fall asleep doing whatever. Maybe next time!

Long exhausting day today. Ds has been a whingebag and wanted to feed lots more than usual, so I'm assuming teeth. Plus he was woken by his sister this morning before he'd quite finished his sleep. Did take him to a different toddler group for a change though, which was nice, and much friendlier than when I used to go there with dd.

Will try and stay awake long enough to start a new thread. My phone struggles with the big ones too.

Terrible mummy of the year award goes to star.
please help
We got home, I put Q on the stairs to walk up to DH. Said "dh, come get Q" he stayed at the top, I turned to shut the door, for 2 seconds, and Q toppled over and fell down 3 steps onto hard floor, bruising his cheek on the skirting board at the bottom. Then, I stood him on the toilet (with lid down) so I could undress him without a tantrum and he slipped and fell down the side, bonking his head on the hard toilet. Then, he was in the bath and fell over backward, bonked back of his head on the tub and was flailing under the water for a second until we could get him up. Just before bed, he was near the DVD player (at chin level to him), he slipped and fell forward, hitting his forehead on the shelf. He cried about every little thing from that point, didn't eat his dinner and is so tired.
Now, I'm not sure if he's fallen so much because he was already tired or if he's got a head injury! Should I call a dr?
He's gone to sleep now...

Honeymoonmummy · 11/11/2009 23:18

Hey all, I've not read back but I've not been on for days so thought I'd show my cyber-face.

I've been really busy with Pops birthday party on Sunday then trying to get the house tidied after a week of neglect.

I did my first ever online supermarket shop, got it delivered yesterday (Ocado), I was unnecessarily excited, it was like Christmas! Am gonna try Tesco next time as I managed to spend £200 with Ocado

I started the Weightwatchers diet today, but I've just eaten my bodyweight in chocolate chip ricecakes so not going so well...

Oh and I've FINALLY discovered the joys of ebay tonight, have been buying Pops some clothes, have won 12 items tonight!!

One of my friends with a baby near Poppy's age has just told me she's PG. So that's 3 people I know now with babies near Poppy's age GETTING BROODY!!!!!

Um, think that's it. Oh, the pig cake wasn't a complete disaster. DH did the pig in the end as I had to bake the sponge again (then ended up using the original one), so I ran out of time to do it, he did a good job.

Star, yours is the only thread I've read. I'd say as long as he didn't lose consciousness or vomit he's probably OK but just see how he is tomorrow.

Night all!
