Happy Birthday to Jenwa's P
I hope she's having a lovely day!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/10/2009 20:26

Doh aubergenie! Beans on toast for tea then?!

Nutter ronshar. I'm tired just reading about it.

DH thinks nothing is wrong
He said that couples argue and I have to learn that it's not the end of the world. And now he's being lovely and nice ... makes my head spin.

Oh csws I'm sure aubergenie will have a back up plan - domestic goddess that she is

Beans on toast is such a funny meal. I had never heard of this before moving here. I'm also not fond of the "full english breakfast". That is one american thing that I prefer - pancakes, fruits, waffles, eggs, muffins... fat fat and more fat, then sugar, I know, but I definitely prefer it to that greasy meal with the cooked tomato on it.

Full english breakfast yum ymu

S ended up with pasta (sauce from the freezer Star ). He can easily eat his own body weight in pasta so he was very happy! Hopefully it'll help him sleep.

Star - So your dh has decided that things are fine again now has he? Has he apologised for anything? No wonder you're confused.

Pistachio - We mostly co-sleep as well. It's tricky one isn't it. Did you also co-sleep with your dd? If so, at what point did you stop feeding her in the night? I'm just wondering whether co-sleeping can ever be compatible with not feeding at night so I'm thinking that our next step will probably have to be to keep S in his cot all night long. Part of me wants to do that and part of me will really miss snuggling up to him at night.

RachieW · 26/10/2009 21:32

Happy Birthday to Jenwa's P too! I hope you all had a lovely day.

Ekka am so about your homemade party bag gifts. They are really fab. I started knitting when I was pregnant with J but I'm so slow. I've only managed a jumper and half of the back of a cardigan so far

Star- Really hope things improve for you. It does sound like your Dh is very up and down with his moods. Keep being strong though and well done with e-mailing to force him to talk, I thought that was a genius idea. I sometimes resort to texting my dh to tell him what an arse he has been as it's often the best way to get my point across!

Myjob- Really glad you had a great day with the Ft family

Ronshar- Wow to the run. Am also very of this as I'd love to do something like that but am far too lazy.

Aubergenie- J had pasta and a packet of shop brought baby sauce for dinner tonight a one off but I ran out of time to do any better!

Well J and I went to my work today so I could try and clear some paperwork. Complete waste of time, I thought J would love it as he could play with all the Nursery toys. Oh no clinging round my neck was much more fun and then pulling out the whole bookcase A complete waste of time but then why would he want to be there? So we gave up and went to visit my Nan. She's in her 80's but still kept leaning right out of her chair to pick up the toy he kept dropping on purpose. Cheeky monkey. He's so cute now though, he'll drop something, put both hands out to the side with his palms facing up and say "g" which I think is "gone"

aubergenie · 26/10/2009 21:34

Happy Birthday P. Sorry I missed that it was today. Hope you've all had a lovely day Jenwa!

ronshar · 26/10/2009 21:45

Hi all,

Happy birthday P!

Knickers, I'm sorry to hear about your split. I'd just reiterate what everyone else has said, feel free to come on and have a rant even if you haven't caught up.

Ronshar, I'm very impressed at your 10 miles! Wow!

I've not had a great day again. Bet you're all getting bored of hearing that!! We went shopping which ended in a scream-fest for Poppy again, so we cut it short. I think it's her teeth, poor thing.

I'm off to bed anyway, apologies if I've forgotten to say anything.

Morning

lol at knockers star

knickers sorry you are having a rough time, hope you are ok though.

ronshar Wow at the run, you are totally mad but a great achievement.

star how are things with DH today?

Phoebe had a lovely birthday thank you, lots of lovely pressies and now more things to fight over with dd1 I however did manage to have a tidy yesterday as DH was at work and Phoebe really unaware it was her birthday, I got loads done, washine, making beds, hoovering, clearing out toys, tidying kids bedroom, cleaning kitchen (yes silly to have black units with kids ) tidying up garden a bit and picking up the hidden dog poo [yuck] I even put together a ride on truck for P!

hm sorry your shopping trip ended short, its stressful when that happens. Sorry I also have not got back to you re meet up, will look soon just mad here with painting and sorting house.

rachie sorry it was not fun taking J into work, they never let you get stuff done do they! P is clingy at the mo and hoovering is madness here, she hates it and lyes on me when I am trying to do it!

myjob glad you had a lovely day out.

Oh and meant to say that P still has 2 naps in the day, one for about 1-2 hours in the morn and one for 1 hour in the afternoon. She is also only on full fat milk now too. 1 bottle after lunch before she has her nap then 1 before bed. I want to drop the afternoon one soon though. I now need to make sure I keep her iron increase up, whats good at this age? I gave her spinach yesterday and she loves broccoli.

ronshar · 27/10/2009 09:44

Rather than drop the afternoon milk just swop all the bottles for cups. Then P will still be getting enough iron etc but no longer associating milk with bottles if you see what I mean!
W has dropped his bedtime feed completely now. Doesnt try to look, even though he has been really poorly with temps of 39.8C, he didnt once try to get his head under my top. Both W & H have been poorly this weekend but hopefully they seem almost normal today. H has this horrible barking cough. At least it is half term so she isnt missing school.
I am going to be hard and get rid of all W's bottles. Probably this weekend. He can have his milk out of a cup. What a hard mummy.

jenwa · 27/10/2009 09:53

I did swap the bottles for cups with dd1 and she would not drink the milk but I have put it in cups for p and she has taken it so maybe I will do that instead. Thanks ronshar you are not at all a hard mummy Hope your dd gets better soon too. P was coughing lots in the night and woke up at 6 this am she is back in bed now, I dragged it out a bit! I have friends over today and we are going to do pumpkin carving with big kids and lunch session and play etc, maybe some wine too

Ronshar I don't think that's being a hard mommy. Q only had ebm bottles until he started refusing them at 6 months. When he gets all better from this horrible croup cough, I'm going to take all of his "binkies" (dummies) - he only has them in his cot now, really... but I'm going to take them away and throw them away. I have to do this before it becomes an issue for his teeth and before he gets to an age where he can say the word to ask for it or even remember it after a few days or a week.
Was that W's last feed or does he still have the morning one? It is funny how they just forget about it once they drop it, isn't it? Did you do don't offer/don't refuse weaning?

I was walking out of the shower with no top on a few days ago and Q looked directly at my breasts and came running. I thought . So, I picked him up and he just cuddled me... didn't even try to feed! It's like he's forgotten what they were for and But at least he's not missing it or about it at all.

WOW myjob you are so brave! that's a lot of small children under one roof!

Jenwa about cups - Q had a lot of difficulty taking milk and water from cups at first but he eventually caught on when he got thirsty . I've found the one we use in the UK FINALLY! It's called Avent magic cup (I think) I saw them at mothercare this weekend!! It's perfect flow and sucking and the spout part goes out a bit further for an easy transition from a bottle or breast.
I've noticed any of the non-spill ones really give him that sucking sensation still (and keeps my home tidy ).
You probably already know all of this... sorry.

HMM sorry you had such a bad day I can't imaging Poppy screaming. She put on a good show of being a calm baby when I met her amazing how these babies can flip moods so quickly, isn't it!

Who is it whose baby climbed out of their cot already? Q loves to climb stuff but I really think he's too chubby clueless to sort that one out. Amazing baby who did it!!
Anyway, once they sort it out - wtf do you do??? I'm so scared about this now. Do you line the outside of the cot with pillows? How do you get them to stay in there? This sounds like a total nightmare...

Star it was W. Surprise. He hasnt done it since. First option is to keep side down. Second option is to move to bed.

We shall be changing the rooms soon so bwill do it then. A friend has a full length bed guard so I shall borrow that and see how often he climbs over it. I will the change it to one I used with the girls. Only half length. Just enough to stop them rolling out at night.
W is still having am feed. Because I didnt want to stop while he is poorly but mostley because I am too lazy to get out of bed in the dark to do breakfast

star6 · 27/10/2009 11:20

ronshar, I thought it was W but wasn't sure. Maybe he had a bad experience the first time and doesn't want to try again... maybe he'll stay in there forever now.

When Q dropped the morning feed I was so scared that it meant I'd be up earlier. But it's not the case. He does want to get out of his cot, though. I just bring him in bed with me if he wakes anytime after 4am and he cuddles in and goes back to sleep if I make him comfortable enough on my arm or something. If it's a weekend and I'm able to sleep in, he usually sleeps a bit later with me (wouldn't seem late to anyone else, though!). I think he wakes earlier on school days because he can sense that we're awake/getting up.

I'm mostly nervous about Q gaining the ability to just get out of bed/his cot whenever he wants to, even if I want him to stay in there. Especially at bedtime...

oh no, myjob. I hope it gets better... that doesn't sound very good. Have you had a look at it in a mirror? Call GP... I would, but I might be over reacting... someone else... help!

star6 · 27/10/2009 12:13

you know what I think is hilarious and ironic? On the Mumsnet Talk window beside active conversations or beside threads I'm on or whatever... in that box it says something like, social skills, are we lacking them? as one conversation and then right below it, it says incessant, unwanted gifts! LOL
