Hey all, can't be long as Pops having early night. I am indeed feeling wobbly MamaG, it's more that I'm reliving the labour than thinking about how Poppy's grown up TBH. I keep thinking what I was doing this time last year. Round about now I was getting a failed epidural from a 12 year old imbecile... DH and I are going to sit down when she's asleep and look at the early videos we took of her.

Anyway, I'd better go. MyJOb, I did most of the packing last night so just a few things to wrap tonight. Grandparents are coming round to see her unwrap her presents first thing then we going out for lunch and probably to the ice cream farm (with animals and great playbarn) for afternoon.

My little baby girl is 1 tomorrow!!!!!

star6 · 04/11/2009 20:00

So exciting HMM. You're brave to relive labour. lol we looked at early videos, too... it's SO funny because he does pretty much nothing but at the time, we were like, "oh! look! he's moved his hand!" SO funny!!! But we did enjoy seeing him in his newborn glory

I'm out of your cupboard MamaG as I'm stopping at 1!

Oh myjob how frustrating not to be able to see a new tiny baby just next door!! I assume the baby came a bit early, if she was planning coffee with you that day?
I do love new babies. Not enough to have another of my own, though - because they are only babies for 5 minutes in the grand scheme of things and while I soaked up every single second, I'm not sure about having another child who will turn into a teenager....

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/11/2009 20:34

What a peculiar emoticon .

Ds still not asleep, but is in bed, calm, and will settle himself off soon. He had a late bedtime as one of dd's friends came round with her mum (my friend) and her grandad to try and fix our radiator!

Was supposed to be going out to pub quiz tonight, but luckily others have cried off, as I'm really too tired to go, and wouldn't have been ready in time either!

can I sit in the cupboard please and escape with a big bottle of wine Wine maybe a wine cellar

lol at you all though

jenwa · 04/11/2009 21:52

yes agree is rather odd!

MamaG · 04/11/2009 22:25

I'm feeling wobblier than a jelly

around now I was telling the MW that something was WRONG and we had to monitor the baby

How I WISH they'd just done a scan and seen teh cord instead of making me labour on and on and ON!

RachieW · 04/11/2009 22:51

Just dashing in to say hi as have just finished working and am shattered. MamaG and HMM enjoy tomorrow and early happy birthday to both dc's in case I don't get on here tomorrow. MamaG sorry today is making you and you are jelly wobbly.

I am not even thinking about potty training yet, can't even get my head round offering cows milk. Please don't buy a potty yet Star you are making me panic

Hope that tooth comes through soon for N Myjob

Fab slide CWSW!

J took 2 steps today, very exciting. It was all a bit haphazard but it was a definate movement towards me. He also crawled after his little friend grabbed her top and put his head on her back saying 'ahhhh' which is his cuddle. Ok so it was a bit over enthusiastic with the chasing and grabbing but it brought tears to my eyes as it's his first show of affection for another baby. Right off to bed, work only 7 hours away, well getting up for it anyway. Bleurgh.

heather1980 · 04/11/2009 22:55

i quite fancy a third actually, if i could do it without having to be pregnant that would be fab. labour i don't mind but pregnancy no thanks!
Not yet though, dd starts preschool in a few weeks and i'm looking forward to having a few hours alone with alex every day. i've never really spend any time just the two of us as i usually have kennedy.

star6 · 05/11/2009 08:32

Rachie - Q loves his oatmilk+calcium as I've said loads of times. I haven't given him cow's milk at all yet. He doesn't need it.

MamaG Sorry you're wobbly. Try to focus on when you cuddled and bf him the first time instead

I'd happily relive the early days as well myjob, but not the other parts - and definitely cannot imagine lots of BIG kids eventually!!

Happy Birthday to BabyG and to HMM's P!
Enjoy your special day.

Heather - that's lovely that you'll get time just the two of you for a bit

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/11/2009 08:45

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Poppy and BabyG-eee, Happy Birthday to you!

I don't know! I go out for one and day you lot chat so much I am struggling to catch up.

Feeling better today, sinuses seem to finally have cleared. Phew!

I am going to try to catch up but it's going to be a mission.

Oh and Ronshar - What and give up my Ittis?

star6 · 05/11/2009 09:04

I'm getting him a potty today
He'll likely wear it for a hat.
I won't force it on him at all.
Just have it there for him whenever he's ready and let him learn to accept it being there from early on so he's comfortable with it later.
I can't believe he hasn't asked for the dummy... I'm throwing them away! No one on freecycle would want used dummies, right? Or am I wrong? I wouldn't... but always hate to throw stuff out that others could use...

I think at this point it was more of a tool for me to quiet him than it was a tool for him to soothe his gums (like he did before)... so I'm just learning new ways to soothe him and to deal with it when he cries in protest in public and not care what anyone else thinks!!

50ftQueenie · 05/11/2009 09:37

Star - Boys are horrible to potty train! DS wasn't potty trained until he was nearly three. We didn't pressure him but that didn't stop him getting really upset any time anyone even mentioned the toilet! IN the end we let him decide when to train himself. One day he went to toilet on the potty and from that point never wore a nappy in the day again. He has had three accidents in his life, two at night when he was very ill and one at nursery when he was too busy playing a game to realise he needed to go. So that worked really well for us!

ugh. I'm not looking forward to it at all! I remember potty training a little boy when I used to nanny in the summer at university. I nannied for the same family for all 4 years in the summer and on some term breaks for extra cash. They were lovely. I trained the middle child when he had just turned 2. It took one week. His mom went on a vacation with the older brother and I kept the 2 year old home and potty trained him. It was messy and hard work, but by the end of the week, he could do it. I'm hoping it's that easy with Q yeah, right.... I doubt it will be!! Nothing is ever easy with your own.

Myjob - Isn't it a horrible thought?! DH keeps talking about selling them on once M is potty trained. I think it will break my heart!

Stop laughing you lot, Myjob understands......

Perhaps you could keep them and create a quilt with them, 50ft and myjob
Or take your favourite one and put it in a 3D frame to hang in her bedroom (or yours ).

star6 · 05/11/2009 14:08

I'm imagining a quilt of your cool nappies, open facing down, fit together like puzzle pieces all laid flat on a fleecy warm base. Maybe the back, the fleece one colour bit, could be decorated with sewn on nappy nippas or similar
I've just impressed myself. I'm the most uncreative and unartistic person alive, so this is good for me

jenwa · 05/11/2009 14:43

Happy birthday Poppy and babyG, have a lovely day

aubergenie · 05/11/2009 14:46

Happy birthday Poppy and Baby G!

Hope the wobbles are subsiding now Mama G.

I'm tired. Had a long day at work yesterday as it was parents evening then S decided to wake up 5 times. He's got a nasty cough. But, he's taking lovely long naps in the day now, which I'm thoroughly enjoying. He's been down for nearly 2 hours now and I've had a major clean and cookathon while listening to the radio. Small pleasures, but I think I've learnt to appreciate the little things much more since I've had S.

I'm finding the emoticon very odd too.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/11/2009 15:33

Ds can finally clap! He is very pleased with himself!
