I meant start potty training! ugh, I'm a train wreck today.
Obviously no one is totally potty trained yet, as we're still talking nappies! But when do you start and put them on a potty just for the experience/practice?

ronshar · 04/11/2009 11:11

Right I have wikied it.
Guido Fawkes. James 1. He was a Spanish freedom fighter. They all wanted to destroy the protestant religion. Most of parliament were Protestant!
Ronshar check your facts.

ronshar · 04/11/2009 11:24

You are right Star it is Remember.

Bugger I shall not offer help again.

At the risk of being completly wrong. You can take three approaches to potty training.
1 Do not use a nappy in the first place. Elimination Communication I think it is called. All about learning from your baby the signs of delimination and then putting them over toilet from birth. Used in lots of countries around the world.
2 Wait until they show signs of being aware of the need to go. In some children this can be very early. I know people who have stopped using nappies by 18 months.
3 wait until your child is ready for pre-school/school then panic because you have a 3,4,5 year old who still needs a nappy!!!

Both DD's were completely dry by 20 months. Through two weeks of hard work and lots of floor cleaning.

lol ronshar.
elimination communication sounds like hard work!
Q always strains to poo. Stops in his tracks and makes a face and the poo making sound. Maybe we should start putting him on a potty when he does it. It's a thought! I'll buy one today. How much do potties cost and are there any to avoid that aren't very good?

See MamaG, it's helpful to stick around, then people don't forget who you are have to repeat things twice

MamaG · 04/11/2009 12:54

oh that sounds GREAt pistachio, I considered doing that too! How long is the training?> How much work do you have to do? Do you do it all from home? etc ...

Star - I do have THREE CHILDREN you know, I can't be on this thread all the time like the rest of you who only have 1 or 2 and are therefore not as busy as me

star6 · 04/11/2009 12:59

Actually, I have 16 and sneak and pop on to read/add to this thread when I get a small moment like when I pop to my desk to get something . Right now my class is at a workshop which I will join them for in a few minutes.

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/11/2009 13:35

Afternoon .

Ds slept through the night again. That's 2 days in a row. It's 3 to be classed as a habit isn't it? Fingers crossed.

lol at ronshar's attempts to explain bonfire night!
Star - don't worry about the fireworks bothering Q's sleep - let him stay up late and take him to a display . We are going to an always fab display at the pub in our village. DD's friend and her parents (our friends) are coming with us, and then having a sleepover. She loved them when she was tiny, then not when she was a bit older, so I don't think we went last year (esp with ds so little then), but she tells me that she saw some last weekend and wasn't scared any more .

We potty trained dd when she was 2yrs 5months, because we wanted to do it in school holidays in the summer once we thought she was ready. It was a piece of piss and took only a couple of days for her to get the hang of it. She would ask for a nappy on when she wanted a poo for the first day or two, but then was prepared to brave the potty, esp with her girl friends all being trained just before or at the same time, so that they could sit on potties together . She was dry at night by a month later if that.
Boys tend to train later than girls star. All of dd's girl friends from our rl post natal group were trained before any of the boys even considered starting.
There is one boy from that group who still hasn't mastered it.

THREE CHILDREN MamaG - that must be hard work. Oh no, hang on, two of them are all big and useful, so it's not really . I imagine that 3 under 5 would be hard work though .
