CSWS, Emma does nap in her cot. She usually will protest for up to a minute but I am in the room for very little of that as i have found that if i leave she will lie down and go to sleep, whereas if i stay she carries on protesting.

its very different to night time, where (miracle of miracles) she will often go to sleep with no fuss at all. Changing her nappy before bed is an entirely different struggle, though.

on a different note - is anyone using pull-ups? I think they would make a lot of sense as i am often changing Emma while she's standing up now.... i just worry about pulling down a pooey nappy and smearing it all down her legs (sorry if that is too graphic an image)

Ekka · 03/11/2009 16:36

CSWS, I think perseverence paid off for us, though ds doesn't nap as long in his cot as he does in the car/buggy. Its only over the last couple of weeks that he has started having proper regular naps - 10-10.30/11 and 2.30-3/3.30 usually.

Congratulations myjob's neighbour!

Glad to hear about the dummies star, I think at this age they are fairly quick to forget....

Ekka · 03/11/2009 16:40

Ksal, with pull ups you can always rip the sides if it is pooey... We use them for dd when we're out and about. But they are more expensive so we persevered with standard nappies till recently with her.

50ftQueenie · 03/11/2009 16:58

Just passing by, dinner to sort.

something very odd and very yuck just happened. M was playing climb in and out of her Bumbo which she loves. She climbed out and started dipping her hand into the Bumbo and then putting it in her mouth. I then realised to my horror that she had managed to do a wee out the side of her nappy, into the Bumbo & was now sampling her 'water'! How the hell did that happen? It was definitely wee and she still had her nappy on. Very odd and very yuck!

CSWS - M still only naps on me when we're at home. I am very jealous of you ladies with babies that go to sleep when they're put down. M did it once on holiday but there is no way she will do it at home. I have no idea how I am ever going to manage to get her to go to sleep without bfing to sleep.

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/11/2009 17:33

I don't know if he'd go off in the buggy in the house or not pistachio, but he doesn't tend to nap for as long in it, and is more likely to be disturbed on days when dd is here too.

Yuk 50ft, and very strange to think how she did it .

Not using pull ups with ds yet (would never remember to point him down if I did!), but I did with dd once changes became mostly vertical. As Ekka says, just peek in first and rip the sides to do like a normal change if it's pooey.

I've never met another B either myjob.

RachieW · 03/11/2009 21:29

Hello- two busy days at work but tomorrow is my day off, yay , although j does have his next set of injections

Star- Hope things get better, keep fighting your corner. The car thing is just crazy what an ih to say the least! Maybe bear with the wellies too as they are differnt to walk in than shoes as they come up the leg further. My Mum was telling me to get J wellies as they don't need to be properly fitted and won't squash his feet.

Pistachio- Sorry to hear you have had a bad day. You know that when I was on maternity leave I'd have very bad days too and you've always reassured me in the past. The thing is now I'm back at work I wish I was home, I guess the grass is always greener! Hope tomorrow is better

CSWS- J always sleeps in his pram as we've just always done that. I've never had set nap times for him as I like the freedom of going out when we want to he just kind of fell into the pattern of sleeping on the go. He always protests and cries when I put him down for naps so I often walk him up and down the street to get him off if we aren't going somewhere.

50ft- and to M, I know it is yuk but she was just exploring I guess. That would so be something J would do too.

Oh we have a climbing development here, my brothers brought J a Little Tikes car, the cozy coupe, for his birthday. He now climbs in and out really quickly and today climbed out the window

jenwa · 03/11/2009 21:34

pepper my mil is my friend on FB but is blocked from seeing my status updates and certain pics

p has a quilt now too, she was getting cross in her sleeping bag!

lol at ronshars advice re the dummy star! I think you were right to do it now, we did it with dd1 at 18 months and when it feels right and you are feeling positive you do it
Also star and at your DH and you being stuck at the garage, you DID do the right thing and yes you got to spend some good quality time with Q and your mother would be totally proud of you, one for being a lovely mummy having fun with your child and 2 for being sensible and not driving with Q in the car when it needed fixing, as for your DH he was out of order to be like that, he could have asked if you were ok at least!

pistachio you do sound like you are having a tough time. Mornings are mad, I am actually glad dd does go to playgroup in the morning though as it does get me up and motivated to get her out and then we can have some bliss and know that it is happy time when she comes home..sometimes , I hate mornings but like the fact that we can get up and out and have the rest of the day to do whatever once I have done whatever I need to do!

Had fun with the face painting with dd1 I was green and brown, meant to be a dog! DH was multi coloured in some weird combat way! I have pics which I may put on fb...[eek]

P been saying 'dora', you can see what we are obviously watching to much off! She is sooo cute and says "dorwa" she was trying to say "deigo" today.

Honeymoonmummy · 03/11/2009 21:59

Hey all,

Pistachio, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so bad All I can say is I know what you're going through, I'm sure you're a great mum and hang in there x

CSWS, re periods, I've noticed you have a bit of a potty mouth recently, maybe you're hormonal because you're due on?

Yuck re bumbo 50ft, but it bodes well for potty training!!

Right, I'm off downstairs to have a glass of wine and some cheese and biscuits-- wrap Poppy's presents.

Just realised that it is 10pm - the time my contractions started this time last year.

50ftQueenie · 03/11/2009 22:13

Feeling rough tonight so not around but will catch up tomorrow.
Just popping on to say that DH just found a tiny piece of Lego in M's nappy! What am I going to do with that girl?

heather1980 · 03/11/2009 23:37

lol my job!

has anyone with boys noticed that they seem a bit obsessed with their penis.
alex loved playing with his and as soon as his nappy comes off he grabs it, which is fun when he has a pooy nappy. he gives himself a stiffy which is a bit

jenwa alex loves dora, when ever he sees her he shouts D really loudly, DD got a few dora toys for her birthday and he much prefers to play with them than the lovely 'developmental and educational' toys he got for his birthday

50ft alex to eats alsorts, his fav though is to try and drink out of dds potty. you have to grab it really quickly before he gets his hand in there

Honeymoonmummy · 04/11/2009 00:42

Ha ha Heather, I had no idea they could have a stiffy at that age!!! You learn something every day!

I'm intrigued by the Lego 50ft, did she eat it or just push it in her nappy to screw your heads up?

50ftQueenie · 04/11/2009 08:53

Heather - Yes they do play with their willies lots. A friend's little boy actually used to hump things like a dog between the ages of 18 months and 3 years! DS still plays with his willy if he's wearing PJs and no pants. He claims it is because it was stuck. M is so much more of a pickle than ds was! DS never tried to eat things, never tried to open cupboards, never tried to drink his own wee.

Hmm - I think she ate it. It was super tiny and their play room is covered in Lego so M is banned from the room unless closely supervised (poor M). Oh and you can now get a Bumbo training toilet seat, which if you ask me is just begging for trouble!

50ftQueenie · 04/11/2009 09:27

Ouch indeed Pistachio! It was about the size of M's fingertip! Proper grown-up boys Lego. How are you feeling this morning young lady?

MamaG · 04/11/2009 09:54

pistachio hope i didn't offend you re work comment - I've had mates who stayed at home out of guilt and didn't wnat you to be doing that what are you training ot be?

HMM how are you feeling? I'm feeling wobbly about BabyG's birthday tomorrow, I was in labour this time last year! I keep giving him a squeeze thinking he might not be here if things hadn't gone the way they had

Drinking wee? Ha. That's NOTHING. BabyG ate some POO a few weeks ago . I'd changed his nappy and he must have grabbed a bit when I wasn't looking. I thought "what's he eating?" and fished it out with my finger. I'm scarred for life!

star6 · 04/11/2009 10:54

Help! Quick summary of 5th november/bonfire night please.... can be child's terms. I know I've been out of the US for 5 years but I need to talk about it with my class this year (we didn't really do it last year because it was done in music and art! ).
I know the basics of the story, but is there anything important I should also know/tell them? Most are from countries other than the UK - america, japan, norway, italy, russia, australia, india.... and more... so it's not like they have all had this experience since birth.

Also - when do the fireworks start? I know they usually last for about a week or so and I'm NOT looking forward to Q's sleep with them going off every few minutes!

He slept for about 20 min at a time last night and arched his back, screamed, cried for 20-30 min in between. I'm hoping to see a tooth soon, but I see nothing there. Not sure what's up with him.

eeeeew to the poo. blick.

HMM and MamaG - happy almost birthday for the little ones. Reliving labour would not be my activity of choice, but to each their own

ronshar · 04/11/2009 10:58

I come on here for some high brow reading and what do I get.
Lego in poo,
drinking wee,
eating poo,
and masturbation.
Well really!!!

Boys are gross really.

50ft try potty training quick. Replace the nappy & bumbo with a potty.

star6 · 04/11/2009 11:02

When are you supposed to potty train? Did I miss the boat?

ronshar · 04/11/2009 11:06

Star. A man called Guy Falkes (I think it was actually Guido but hey ho). Joined up with some English men who wanted to destroy parliament and kill King James 2. The plotters placed lots of explosives under the House of Parliament. They were dicovered and arrested.
November, November 5th of November, gun powder, fire and plot. I think thats how the rhyme goes.
Hope that helps a little.

star6 · 04/11/2009 11:08

Thank you! I thought it was "remember remember the 5th of November" thank god for MN!
So they burn guy falkes in a bonfire because he was attempting to kill the king?
