Star - H does mean he has a wide foot, but Clarks always measure wide and long IYSWIM. It might be worth getting his feet measured somewhere that stocks a variety of brands as their measurements might be more universal. As for DH....... I really don't know what to say as I suspect that I already have a bit of reputation as a bit of a ball breaker on this thread. If he was genuinely annoyed about you being out with Q when it was the fault of the car (and I'm not suggesting that you're making it up, more that he is being a shitbag for no real reason) then he clearly has a screw loose! I think you need some time away from him. I think it would do him some good to see what a turd he's being and it will do your self-confidence wonders to see how well you cope and how much nicer life is without him around for a while. It will give you some power back. One of the worst feelings in the whole world is the sense that you are powerless to control something in your life. You need to take a positive step to take back the reigns. I am not saying "leave him", just that you need a little time out of that situation to allow you to get some perspective. I don't suppose it's really practical for you though is it.

50ftQueenie · 02/11/2009 21:24

Ekka - Our heating is on timer too, which is why DH spends most of his day in his dressing gown! Classy. I do get lots of cuddles with M though as I think she likes to use me as a human radiator.

aubergenie · 02/11/2009 21:25

Star - I would have thought that shoes that were too big might rub or make it difficult for Q to walk.

Now that you know his size you might be able to get some Clarks shoes on Ebay much cheaper. It's important to have the correct fit though. When I got S's feet measured last week he came up as a 4.5G but we ended up having to get the H fitting because the Gs were too tight in that particular style. Their bones are still very soft at this stage so it's important that shoes aren't too tight.

We've been away at my parents for the weekend for my mum's birthday. S had so much attention, and I was able to sit around and read the papers. Bliss. I was worried that all our hard work on S's sleep would be undone and the first night was a bit grim, but last night he went to bed a 7 and slept through till 5. Result!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/11/2009 21:33

That is possibly the most unreasonable thing that your dh has said so far star.

Shoes are sadly v expensive. You will also find that startrite and clarks are half a size different from each other, so never rely on a size from one make fitting in another. You could try M&S for shoes star, or Tesco. I didn't buy any for dd from there when she was little and only just walking, but now I would if they were wide enough (she was also an H fitting, now down to a G). Her current shoes are from Tesco, boots are from Next and the rest of the time she lives in crocs.

How about a pair of these star? I bought some in a sale for ds to grow into already!

I think Q has forgotten all about his dummies. he doesn't even look for them. It's totally weird, actually. That was dead easy. yay!
50ft, I would love to do that. Love it. But, DH would flip out if he couldn't see Q for even a day. He would be upset with me for taking him away. It's complicated that way. And I absolutely refuse to leave on my own without Q. It's too tricky.

Congrats on the sleep aubergenie - and the free time!

I had no idea primark did fleece sleepsuits! wow! Do they do toddler shoes??

THanks for the ideas re: shoes. I'll bring him to some other shops, in his wellies to try on some others.

star6 · 02/11/2009 21:44

what do you mean, to grow into csws? Does he wear them now? Did you get a size bigger than he is? Those look super cool.

I know it's a ridiculous thing that he said. I couldn't believe it myself! I told him he was a child and plays the victim, as if the whole world is against him, poor him... I was a bit immature, but so because I had just dealt with this whole scenario and then to have to deal with him, too... ugh. he should be supporting me and sympathizing. Or joking it off or something at least... not getting cross with me!

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/11/2009 22:04

I mean that I got them in a size 7-8 star, as he should def be walking by the time he's that size! Got them in the sale for a tenner .

Hi all,

Star, if your DH was in front of me right now, i would punch him in the nose.

That's all I want to say tonight.

Night all

MamaG · 03/11/2009 08:09

Morning all

don't you think I'm doing well to post so much? - BabyG is currently still in his sleepsuit, sitting in his highchair waiting for breakfast and filling his nappy. Great. DS1 (age 5) has just got up saying he's too ill to go to school as he has a stiff neck and aches all over. Now he's running around the room being Ben 10

star6 · 03/11/2009 08:29

Well done, MamaG
I have a child like your DS1 in my class, MamaG. Math time - "ohhh I'm so itchy/achy/tired/sore (insert any ailment here)" Snack/lunch/recess time - "yippeeee! I feel better!"

50ftQueenie · 03/11/2009 08:59

MamaG - DS (age 6) was like that on Saturday, I think because he didn't want to play football on Sunday. He was flopping around on my mum's sofa banging on about being really ill, so I tested him. I said "Oh, I was going to say you could have a chocolate bar if you could do 10 star jumps". You can guess the rest.........

MamaG · 03/11/2009 09:41

He's at school now

He got very upset when I said he had to go, saing he couldn't do the work, everyone was laughing at him, a big boy hurt him at playtime etc so I had a quiet word with his teacher before class and she said she'd keep an eye on him

lovely news about neighbour's baby, I love new babies!

BabyG doesn' have any shoes either, just socks that he pulls off immediately. We had some soft little shoes and I couldn't get htem over his fat feet! He's such a little sumo. Good thing he's not walking yet

I don't think DS1 IS ill. He stayed home on the Friday before half term saying he was ill, I knew he wasn't and that he was just tired so I let him stay at home and we ended up going to soft play so I think I might have given him the worng message there!! I had to send him today otherwise he'll try it on all the time won't he!

star6 · 03/11/2009 10:20

congrats on the baby, myjob
Q canNOT walk in the wellies I got him... it's disasterous. he just tumbles and falls everywhere, poor thing.

lol mamaG - I'm sure your ds was thinking about having a great day at home That's funny!

pistachio - from what I have read on here and fb, you're a wonderful mom. sorry... a wonderful mum . Don't be so hard on yourself. Kids are hard work. Can you stick them in the pushchair and go for a long walk?

MamaG · 03/11/2009 10:23

pistachio - do you have to be a SAHM? There's no shame in saying OK, this isn't as great as I thought it was going to be and going out to work, maybe part time. When I had DD 10 years ago (!) I went back to work and it was the best thing for all of us. My Mum looked after DD and I really appreciated my time with her.

I'm sure you are NOT a bad mum, we all have those days where we feel like we are, but we're not

Went to toddler group this morning and there was a 14 month old there with the same name as DS . First one I've ever met!

mamag - pistachio is training for a new career so that she can go back to work once qualified .

Congratulations to your neighbour myjob!

D slept through for a full 12 hours last night . But he is a bit under the weather and full of snot atm .

Who here puts their dc down in their cot for the nap? How do you manage it? Ds normally sleeps in car or pushchair, but with the crappy weather I am trying to get him to nap in cot sometimes too. Dh is currently up there trying to settle him, as he will sleep in my arms but not when put down .

I did the crying thing - 5 min, 10 min...etc at the same time that I did it with night sleeps.
Maybe try that? He grizzles a bit at us when we put him down initially, sometimes cries for up to a minute, but rarely. Usually it's just a few seconds and then off to dream land or no tears at all. I just went to see him today and my friend told me that she wanted to keep him up until 10, like I asked, but at 9.30am, he was laying on the floor with his sippy cup and would stand up for a few seconds, then lay down on the dog or on the floor. He slept from 9.30am-12.40 so I'm ok with it. I just don't like it when he only sleeps until 11.30 or 11 even... because then he's a nightmare from 3.30-6.45pm because it's too long for him to go without a nap!

heather1980 · 03/11/2009 15:41

HELLO ALL!!
lots going on here lately, both kids have had their birthdays.
we took alex for his 1st shoes a few weeks ago and he has huge feet 4 1/2F!! he is fully walking now and hardly crawls at all.
i am trying to stop bf as well, have been stopped at night for about 3 weeks and my periods have come back which is a bit shitty.
i am trying a mooncup for the first time.
he's not for giving up the breast though!

csws alex naps on me usually or in the pram if we are out, vary rarely will he nap in the cot.
