a fleecy sleepsuit sounds like agood idea. better than so many layers she looks like michelin man! My only concern with a duvet is she'd wriggle out and get cold more often than at the mo.
DH thinks she's just a wuss!

50ftQueenie · 02/11/2009 13:05

DS is the opposite as he spends most of the night on top of his duvet, sweating through his PJs! M would wiggle out of a duvet too Pepper. My DH thinks M is a wuss too. I think it might explain why she settles really easily when she comes into our bed. It must be so much warmer snuggling up to me!

Oh dear. M has found some of ds's trick or treat stash and is trying to open it. She managed to open a lolly yesterday and had eaten mot of it before we noticed. She was doing a triumphant dance of joy! She is now wailing because I confiscated the Chomp bar! [evil mummy]

star6 · 02/11/2009 13:10

Yes, Q LOVES to come in under our big duvet for some extra sleep in the morning

I took his binkies (dummies) away last night. He's at the end (I hope) of this horrid cough and cold so I thought that feeling much better each day might be associated with no binkie... someone gave me this advice.. not sure. But, he slept through, only grizzled for about 5 minutes last night ... he's fine! I'm putting them all far far away (but not throwing them away just in case something horrific happens!)
I'm very proud of myself for doing this. DH thought I should "just give it to him if he wants it" I thought I should remove them while he's still little enough not to be able to ask for them by name and while he'll easily forget about them within a day or two of having them removed (jsut like he did with bf).
Am I a mean mommy/mummy?

star6 · 02/11/2009 13:11

lol about the lolly!

ronshar · 02/11/2009 13:22

Quick hello.
Yipee the children are back at school.

Star I am thinking of things to say to you. Apart from a big hug. I shall be back later.

Hello everyong.
Sorry Knickers I wasnt on this weekend to say happy birthday to S. Hope it was a good day for you.

ronshar · 02/11/2009 13:23

Star give the dummies to DH and then stuff them up his nose.

ronshar · 02/11/2009 13:24

Sorry was supposed to be thinking of constructive advice

myjob - N is so good about not getting cold. When we were visiting, I was so impressed that she was just happily playing along in a sleeveless dress and hug a lugs but bare feet and I was needing a sweater... She was perfectly warm and happy!! Q was wearing layers as well... I think I've made him the way he is, always needing to be wrapped up warm... I mean, he's got plenty of chubbiness to keep him warm!! I get all anxious that he's too cold if he's running around barefoot and his feet start to feel cold.

Thanks, Ronshar. That's excellent advice. Q seriously seems to have already forgotten about them... it's crazy! I'm so glad I did it now and not when he's old enough to ask for them and truly "miss" them, iykwim.

pepperrabbit · 02/11/2009 14:02

ronshar - LOL!
myjob, at least you still have somewhere to go with the sleep/warm thing! As we're already in winter grobag, vest and sleepysuit I was struggling - I think we peaked too early!!

star6 · 02/11/2009 14:08

I have 2 fleece sleepsuits that Q has outgrown. One is red with bulldogs on it and the other is blue with a dinosaur. Another actually that is too small is navy blue, with a little insignia on it... 50ft or pepper, I know you both have girls, but if those interest you, I'd be happy to pass them on?

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/11/2009 14:17

Ds is just in a sleepsuit and a 2.5 tog grobag, and seems warm enough. Our house is quite warm though, and his room rarely drops below about 21 degrees. Did dip to a low of 19 last night though, which might have been helped by me thinking it was 3:15am and wondering why the range was on (does heating and water as well as cooking), so coming down and 'correcting' the clock by 2 hours, and then going back to bed and realising that it was 5:15 after all . Ah well, I also got dh to resettle ds at that point, thinking it was only a couple of hours since he'd fed, and he managed it fine and slept until around 7:45am, which bodes well for when the time does come to stop night feeding.

I call your onesie a bodysuit star.

our heating kicks in at 14c so our house is quite freezing cool at night.
Well done CSWS - good result from misreading the time!

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/11/2009 14:23

Fuck me pepper - I'd be going to bed in a hat, scarf and gloves if my room was 14 degrees!

OP posts:
pepperrabbit · 02/11/2009 14:27

sometimes I crank it up by one degree on my way to bed....
and DH hates pyjamas and threatens to go sleep downstairs if I try to put them on! As he's warmer than my PJs I don't usually bother with the argument about it!

star6 · 02/11/2009 14:34

I love pjs. I second csws. I'd be going to bed all suited up at that temperature. . I put the heating up quite warm in our bedroom (for Q of course! )
DH is also quite warm and toasts up our bed nicely, but I still like pjs and heat - I'm greedy!
For the first 6 years that we were living together, DH also expressed his distaste for pjs. I would always go to bed in just undergarments. But right after we got married, I decided I was safe dressing up in my pjs he really despises bathrobes (not sure what you call them here!), so I still don't own one... although I'd love to walk around in one all evening long

50ftQueenie · 02/11/2009 14:47

We are the House of PJs here! DH loves his PJs as much as I love mine! DS also loves his PJs, he and DH have a variety of "chill out trousers" as well as more PJs than M&S at Christmas!

Pepper - I think DH is mean for keeping the heating set at 20 degrees. I would probably kill him and wear his skin as a coat if he made me keep it 14 degrees.

Star - I call it a dressing gown and although I don't like them I do have one. I don't like them because they make me look like a sack of spuds! DH wears his in the day over his clothes so he can avoid putting the heating on.

MamaG · 02/11/2009 14:53

I like going to sleep in a cold bedroom

Vertbaudet do velour sleepsuits, often have a good % off if you google, too

BabyG is still incotton sleepsuits, plus a vest (onesie? ) and his grobag. He doesn't get cold really, must be his 2.5 stone of lard keeping him warm - its been 2 weeks since his last BF and he wouldn't take any milk from a bottle/cup so he's just on water anbd food now. HE's def thinner, might take him to be weighed on Thursday just to check he's not wasting away! Happy enough though!I thought i'd be feeding him forever.

Sounds like you're doing a good job with the dummies star, its much easier to do it at this age than older. Trust me, I have the T shirt!

star6 · 02/11/2009 15:21

oh yes, vertbaudet do nice velour suits. Not as heavy/warm as the others, but good! I had the green one for Q in two sizes. Warning: They run small.

Pepper, if you need some fleece sleepsuits let me know. Ds is allergic to them so I have several you can use! I could hab=nd them over at the clinic if you'd like

Got to dash to get ds tea before we have to collect dd from her cm....

wow, thanks pistachio - I'll investigate a secret setting just for ILs. That's handy to know.
Ekka, thanks for the offer - I've had an ebay-tastic afternoon bidding for a couple of sleepysuits so I'll let you know.
I'm so hoping DD sleeps tonight, I'm kind of dreading bedtime.

star6 · 02/11/2009 21:07

I went to mothercare to get shoes for Q. There were none in his size. But had him fitted at the clarks next door. 4.5 H. What does that mean? He has a fat foot?
I couldn't find any shoes under £20 for him so I just didn't get any
I got him some wellies size 5 from M&S. I figured he can wear his leather slippers inside and wellies outside. I know I'm a poor excuse for a mother. Any other ideas of where to buy shoes and not spent a lot? And I also noticed that the sizes are different. The mothercare shoes fit totally different than clarks. Is it ok for them to wear shoes that are just a tad bit big? I know I sound like a fool.
I got lost going there because it's the big one, not my local one and I don't have my sat nav... so totally lost. Then I notice my oil guage is all the way on "H" in the red and smoke coming out of my hood (bonnet??). I pulled into sainsbury's petrol and a very nice man (boy) helped me sort it. But I had to wait a half hour inside the shop with hungry Q (in socks! ) until the engine cooled. I guess there was not enough oil or antifreeze. Who knows. I hope it's not a huge problem I was wondering why the heating hadn't been working in a couple of days
So, I text DH that we're going to be a bit late and he's all upset that it's past 6 and he doesn't get to see Q during the week that much...etc.
I tell him what has happened and that I have no choice and don't feel like I should drive it with it smoking and he says "unlike you, I don't get to see him throughout the day. It's not fair for you to keep him out so late" ???
So, I tell him, it's beyond my control... I'm not keeping Q from him. Just sorting this out. Trust me, it's no picnic for me, either. I want to be home as well... not waiting around a petrol station for my engine to cool with a hungry toddler! Q did have a GREAT time when I went back to the car to wait for a bit and sat him on my lap in the front seat (keys not in the ignition). He was squealing and laughing playing with the steering wheel. Oh goodness. My mother was probably looking down with such distaste shaking her head and looking away! ha!
Well, now dealing with other stuff.

Ekka · 02/11/2009 21:11

Primark does great fleece sleepsuits really cheaply

With you all discussing your heating I checked ours tonight and the thermostat was down at 14. Might explain why dd came into our bed at 4 this morning . Mind you we only have the heating set to come on at 6-8am and 4.30-10.30pm. But it has a handy boost button which i use a lot sometimes during the day
