Who said having a baby was fun?!?
I swear I'm always or

mrsgboring · 23/10/2009 09:17

Morning all WrigglyFish - been up since 5. Am in a grump with DH for daring to be tired and for having breakfast and a shower all on his own.

But E did sleep for over an hour in his moses basket last night so yay!

And now I'm going to sod the housework and go out on a "leafy walk" in the park. Laundry armageddon threatens, ladies. You have been warned.....

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 23/10/2009 09:17

Maybe try some bm up the nose through the day to help clear things out? Maybe sitting in hot steamy bathroom will help too.

mrsgboring · 23/10/2009 09:18

zombie/Bebe what's up?

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 23/10/2009 09:19

Morning MrsG - yay for moses sleep! How did you manage that? We gave up on the basket long ago. I hope you have a lovely scrunchy leafy walk. Is it one of those sunny, cool, misty, damp autumnal mornings where you are?

OP posts:
mrsgboring · 23/10/2009 09:20

doh missed a page now I understand, Bebe.

DH always gets nosebleeds etc. with a cold. Agree with Gui that moisture in the air might help.

zombieBOO · 23/10/2009 09:20

I'll watch her closely today (and take off her white t-shirt just in case) and see what happens. If I see any fresh stuff or it doesn't seem to be stopping we'll go to A&E or something.

Dr. Google suggests vitamin C deficiency...can a baby who's mostly bf have that?

Gosh she keeps sneezing and rubbing her nose; not sure that's helping matters.

zombieBOO · 23/10/2009 09:22

Anyone use pampers? I've got some vouchers in the mail and don't use them. How did I get on a Pampers mailing list I wonder?

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 23/10/2009 09:22

Throw some Olbas oil in the water too. Can't imagine it will help clear her nose when it's on a room-wide scale, but I like the smell! Though, do you find your cat goes a bit mad for such smells? All my cats have always been completely mental for Olbas oil, Vicks etc.

Wriggly - that's amazing news well done little wriggler...

Bebe - where are you going for your blood test? Can you get them to check moo's nose out quickly while you're there? Just to put your mind at rest.

Fei - Yes, desperation - glace cherries really are ming.

Gui - dammit. can't believe you beat me on the stepford wife front re: christmas cake... going to make mine on sunday having soaked the fruit in brandy for a week. mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Swali - very excited about your test results and will be a teeny bit (that's , not trying to conjur anything up a la Gui). Actually, will be a lot and might be enough to push me in the direction of trying for number two...

Kaz - I moved O forward an hour for everything yesterday so that hopefully he'll be in the swing of the clock change by tomorrow (didn't want to deal with overtired baby over my birthday at the weekend). Seems to be working in that he's still awake now and has just had his brekkie (would normally be asleep at this point). Had a terrible night with him last night but assumed the first night would be crap - hoping tonight will be back to normal (whatever that is).

DH came back late last night after a curry with the lads and the whole bedroom now STINKS. Bleurgh. Men are gross.

BEWiTcHEDnod · 23/10/2009 09:24

x-posts with everyone - will try again...

mrsgboring · 23/10/2009 09:24

Gui, it's a shame, as we're just about to turf him out of it because he's a bit too mobile now - just as he's starting to stroke the sides of the basket and occasionally feel safe instead of waking straight up.

But really the basket sleep is pure luck as we put him down stone asleep and he wakes as soon as he moves or comes into light sleep.

I know I know you're supposed to put them down awake but he just screams if we do that.

Yes, it's a lovely morning where I am - hope I remember to tear myself away from the walk and go to get DS1 in time

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 23/10/2009 09:25

Vitamin C deficiency (i.e scurvy) highly unlikely I would think. If bf was low in Vit C, we'd be advised to supplement at some stage, but it's only A and D they worry about (I think). Talking of which, is anyone using vitamin drops for their LOs?

OP posts:
BEWiTcHEDnod · 23/10/2009 09:26

Bebe - don't google, its baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Maybe give NHS direct a call?

MrsG - me too up since 5. Yay.

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 23/10/2009 09:30

However, Dr Google also says "mothers' consumption of foods that were rich in vitamin C was associated with a higher concentration of vitamin C in their breast milk", so if you have scurvy.... Have you been on any long sea voyages recently, with no access to fresh fruit and veg?

OP posts:
zombieBOO · 23/10/2009 09:41

Um... long sea voyages... Hmmmm There was that one... But I stopped off at the island of Membury Services and had a smoothie

WrigglyFish · 23/10/2009 09:53

oh bebe I would call NHS direct just for peace of mind.

WrigglyFish · 23/10/2009 09:56

MrsG with DD the moses basket on the room was purely decorative. Tried every ruse in the book and she never slept a wink in it. Yay for an hour - that's impressive.

WrigglyFish · 23/10/2009 10:05

in the room

zombieBOO · 23/10/2009 10:42

nhsdirect-hold her nose closed...

you go try that too ladies; see how it works for you

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 23/10/2009 10:45

Hold her nose closed??? Freaks! Really? That's honestly what they said?

OP posts:
zombieBOO · 23/10/2009 10:48

apparently with a cold baby's nose linings thin quite a bit. Then with all the sneezing and rubbing it's easy to rupture the lining and get nose bleeds.

So you hold the nostral closed that's bleeding for 15 thousand years minutes and if it stops no worries. If it doesn't need to see a doc when they're this young. (also supposed to check if they've stuck anything up there )

zombieBOO · 23/10/2009 10:50

I've managed to get her to press her nose against my shoulder (don't ask me how -cuz I just don't know) and now she's dozing too...both of which should help because she'll stop rubbing it now also

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 23/10/2009 10:55

Ah, I suppose one nostril not so bad. I would have thought you could still do 'applying pressure just below the bridge' though.

OP posts:
zombieBOO · 23/10/2009 11:00

Well it was one nostril for us -suppose if both were bleeding you'd need to do both
