might be a bit embarrasing when he wants to go out to the pub at 18......

kazkissofdeath · 24/10/2009 11:10

actually i take it back thinking about some of the pubs round here it probably wouldnt look too out of place!

bronze · 24/10/2009 11:21

Loads of things to reply to

Swali I can very much relate to how you feel
If I know dh is looking at other women it makes me sad and that lowers my sex drive and its a vicious circle.
I'm lucky that most of the time he understands this. I think the realisation that there is the opposite to the vicious circle has finally dawned.
I dont buy the thats how men are thing. They may be more visually stimulated etc but they also have the ability to manage self control.

gui has h been eating banana? terribly constipating to babies. as is avoado and sometimes just fruit in general.

if that was first seriously solid poo it could have been unfamiliarity rather than pain.

i have been seriously tempted to thin e's purees with olive oil. dont quite dare do it but actually it wd be if anything beneficial for constipation and stack on the cals too. since you are blw you could roast veggies in oil instead of steaming maybe?

we are still half a kilo below the 0.4 centile - hv been fab about it but i have started slipping e the odd shortbread biscuit to try to pork him up. t where is h at or have you given up weighing?

on a non baby food note, it turns out you can't really make a quick ice cream by letting a 4yo make up birds custard and tippiung it and a banana into an iecream maker. who knew? fortunately we are such pigs in our family i got away with it.

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 24/10/2009 20:19

Yes, he has been having banana, but I have been thinking 'ooh, isn't banana supposed to be 'binding'?' - well, there we have it! He hasn't had a great deal of avocado, though had a fair amount the last couple of days. Bum. That rules out/ limits two of the best fruits for calories (is avo a fruit?). And he loves banana . Ah well. Mango seemed to come out much the same texture it went in, so I'll ramp up the mango again, and try to get a pear ripening rotation going on! His veggies are generally roasted in oil or fried in butter! Extra oil in the runny bits he has might be a good idea, but I am wary of going a bit fat crazy. I know high cal is good, but there must be a point at which the liver might get a bit overworked, I suppose? I've been trying to think of ways to up his protein intake (for weedy muscles). He's not too interested in meat. Lentils are acceptable, as is hummus. I was going to try a wee bit of omelette or scrambled egg, but they're 'binding' too. Looks like most of the boy's cals are going to be sugar

Half a kilo below the 0.4 here too. But whereas a few weeks ago his 'curve' was very shallow, the last few months it has picked up so that I think he is on a stable line, albeit possibly 0.1. But, someone has to be there!

As for ice cream - perhaps call it a semi-freddo, and you're fine!
(Mmmmmmmmm, custard.....)
DH is still at work - my dinner was a banana and a bowl of Shreddies

May I admit something? I'm doing a baby massage class for a few weeks with my NCT group - one of the group is a masseuse, and is training for a qualification in baby massage, and this 5 week course is part of her training. I feel quite apprehensive about it, as H will be stripped down to his nappy (I assume??), and all the other girls will be there with their chubby babies and they'll all be able to see how skinny he is, with his ribs sticking out and his bony visible spine . I'm scared of what they'll think, I almost feel embarrassed to do it, and then I feel ashamed of feeling like that.

And now I've made myself cry

OP posts:
mrsgboring · 24/10/2009 20:48

E has latched off so I can lean round and type with two hands and be legible and semi-coherent.

Gui don't cry! I am of your massage class; can't seem to fit it in this time round. I did take DS1 who was the same size as E and it was never a problem. Basically because the nice, non-competitive mummies only have eyes for their own babies and the others, well I'm sad to say since the babies are stripped totally nekkid, they are simply comparing penis size I kid you not, one of the other mums told me where DS1 featured in the errm pecking order (quite high since you ask ) Maybe this was just my twisted group though.

One of the mums in my group had a baby with bad excema and she felt bad too - it's such a shame to spoil a massage class over something like this.

There, I hope that helps a bit. Unless you're going to come over all Adrian Mole about penis size in which case sorry for mentioning it - it has never come up in conversation since, and I don't have anything much to do with the crazy ones these days.

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 24/10/2009 20:55

Completely nekkid?! I'll have to take waterproofs! I didn't know Mums compared penis size - poor little lads, so many expectations so early !

I do feel a little better, thank you. It's all part of the 'trying not to feel guilty, honestly, but I do' - every time I pick him up and feel his wee bony spine I wonder whether I did the right thing to be so bloody-minded about the bfing.
(I know, I know...)

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 24/10/2009 20:59

Are you still holding E for all his naps? I was trapped on the sofa for 3 hours again this afternoon. No wonder I'm so unfit! I'm going to have to start trying to get H to take naps in his cot soon, or it will be nursery time, and that will be awful if he is still made entirely of velcro.

OP posts:
kazkissofdeath · 24/10/2009 21:00

I think that they will all think how cute and wee he is. Thats what i thought (other mns Hugo is VERY cute!!!! ) dont worry about other mummies.... go along and have fun! (I want to go to a baby massage class but was scared of the logistics of trying to manage with two! so i am now very

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 24/10/2009 21:05

You can come along if you fancy hauling yourself down here once a week! That would be a challenge for her - how to massage twins!

(He is, naturally, the cutest baby in the group...)

OP posts:
kazkissofdeath · 24/10/2009 21:07

What day is it on? Can I come as a non member or do i need to join the nct? I may consider it....... At least we would both have some moral support.

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 24/10/2009 21:07

Kaz, are you all prepared for your return to work? Two days a week, initially, isn't it?

OP posts:
Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 24/10/2009 21:08

It's not actually an NCT thing. I believe it is Mondays from the 5th? Nov at 1.30. But I'll check. I'll message my friend and see if she has places free.

OP posts:
kazkissofdeath · 24/10/2009 21:08

no not prepared at all!!!!! very very scared about leaving the bubbas. It will monday and weds till april then mon, wed, fri.

I am sure the powers that be are expecting miracles from me but i think my brain is now fuddled!! lol .

kazkissofdeath · 24/10/2009 21:10

pooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! the 5th is a thursday so can hope it is thurs cos i am gonna be working mondays.

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 24/10/2009 21:11

Unhelpfully, I haven't won the lottery.

(On BBC1 for Strictly, and now stuck with it as cannot reach remote. Which means I'll have to watch Casualty.)

OP posts:
mrsgboring · 24/10/2009 21:11

Oh yes, Gui. Try to sit next to girl babies

Tiny babies rule (I am sure H is not bony really) Surely you can always feel a baby's spine, even the massive whomping great ones??

I know what you mean about the guilt re continuing breastfeeding. TBH I'd love to tell you it goes completely away but it hasn't for me over DS1. Noone can understand it since I breastfed for 3 and a half years, and DS1 is a massive nearly four year old, happy, handsome and a criminal mastermind. I still can make myself feel bad sometimes. I think it's just part and parcel of motherhood and something you just have to live with.

Yes, E still utterly velcro. I wear him or have him on my lap for all naps. Sling is a godsend and if I'm not too busy I try to walk while he naps to get some exercise.

Laptop battery is dying, as is eyesight (tired) Probably just as well; feeling quite needy this evening and would be all over MN with self indulgent posts.

kazkissofdeath · 24/10/2009 21:12

ahhh casualty is leathal and causes me to shout at tv frequently. In much the same way as I do house and E.R . Love them but also love pre-empting the diseases........ (which slightly annoys/impresses DH if i am correct)

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 24/10/2009 21:13

Ah, wrong on both counts , is Tuesday 3rd from 1.30 until 3pm.

OP posts:
kazkissofdeath · 24/10/2009 21:13

oooh goodie can still do tuesdays!!!!

kazkissofdeath · 24/10/2009 21:14

let me know details and i will let you know if i can make it (and if i need to book spaces etc...)

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 24/10/2009 21:17

Nothing wrong with self-indulgence. I am also feeling a bit self-indulgent tonight. Probably because DH is still at work. I may have a thorough whinge on here tomorrow if the mood hasn't lifted.

I am tempted to take photos of the boniness so that you can tell me I'm being a loon

Oh for a sling that is quick to get on and he's happy to sleep in...

OP posts:
mrsgboring · 24/10/2009 21:19

What have you got, Gui (slingwise) ?

Yes, photos please. Have been meaning to put some E pics up on my profile but as ever it's

oh critical battery run out of time again.

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 24/10/2009 21:21

Calin bleu gauze, Storch ring, mei tai in 6 weeks.
I will attempt bony photos tomorrow.
Sleep tight, ((()))s for the needy
