A homage to the Nightmare Before Christmas song. DH obsessed with that film, we all (DD included) have to watch it on Christmas Eve.

My 2 seem to understand about clock changes! They got up an hour later... so same time as usual now.

tink- hope dd is over her cold soon (and you too of course!)

missjackson · 25/10/2009 22:08

Quiet on here tonight - hope you have all had good weekends - tink hope B feels better soon.

stripey funny about your horse - how sweet that you kept it for so long despite not riding it! Every little girl's dream... I really hope N wants to ride otherwise it might break OH's heart! But boys not always as horse-crazy as girls, are they? Time shall tell...

I have had a pretty quiet day at my Mum's. Bought N one of those vtech first step walkers which he was very pleased with and he walked around the room with it wearing a big grin.

missjackson · 25/10/2009 23:37

After watching for ages on ebay, I finally got my mountain buggy! Urban, like you told me lenni . Moss green, which I hope is nice. Arriving Wednesday hopefully so I can bring it along to drool over.

Hi all.

How is everyone?

missj know what you mean about being told must reach 6 months and then being looked at funny for carrying on. I am happy with things how they are & not planning to stop anytime soon!!!! :-D

moose So sorry LO's sleeping patterns / going to sleep has suddenly changed. Hopefully with any luck will return to before as quickly as has changed. Esme was only a bit off the 3 days before her 2 teeth cut.

House offer rejected. not prepared to go any higher due to amount of work needing doing!!! Got 2 more viewing on diff houses tomorrow and wed. So we shall see. watch this space.

tink have you spoken to HV about consistency of food? Does bracken have any teeth? From what i believe, even a baby not BLW should be having 'textured' food ... so not pureed, and not lumpy, somewhere in between- mashed. Perhaps try making her a spag bol or something- annabel Karmel does mini pasta shapes- if you cooked them to very soggy maybe bracken would get on better with them?

Right, sorry - wave to the rest of you , got to hop in shower, parents en route to stay! xxx

ps, barn got mouse i think- one of my jackets had a few nibble marks. Put traps down, cheeky buggers took Cheese and didn't set off trap! Hmmmpft!

Gumps · 26/10/2009 10:56

ds1 got hand foot and mouth. Its horrid. Will be back tonight when I no longer have a limpet attached to me. Poor S can't get a look in. Just looking for something to help his mouth. My poor baby.

treedeLivingDeadery · 26/10/2009 10:59

Oh Gumps - is it awful? Poor poor little man.

Had my donation egggy thread renamed - couldn't resist.

moosemama · 26/10/2009 14:00

Oh, poor little thing, Gumps. Have you tried ice pops or calippos, they will help if he has a temp and also cool his mouth down and numb the sores. You could also add ice cubes to his drinks as I usually find this distracts little ones from there poorly for a couple of minutes as well as encourages them to drink and lowers the temperature. I know you can use Anbesol oral gel for normal mouth ulcers, would that help with the ulcers from HF&M?

People tend to say that its only a minor childhood illness, but I don't agree. Its horrible, especially as the mouth sores make them not want to eat or drink anything.

An important thing to note is that the virus is shed in faeces for several weeks so you have to be extra careful with supervising handwashing etc.

Hopefully he should be feeling much better within 3-4 days of him first getting poorly.

Well, I have just returned from a lovely, lovely dentist who was very hands off, told me I actually have very good teeth (yeah, that's because I haven't let a dentist touch 'em for 22 years ) and no problems with my gums, took 3 xrays and then explained that I either need an extraction or triple root canal! I have to go back on Thursday at 2.00 with my mind made up. [why haven't we got a panic emoticon?]

He was very good, even showed me a little digital video on his computer of exactly what they do for a root canal and spent a lot of time talking through the pros and cons with me.

Anyone have any experience of root canals? I have absolutely no idea what to do. He said it wouldn't be painful, but that an extraction would probably be easier for me to handle, as I am so dentist phobic. Thing is, then I would be left with a gap, which most people manage fine with, but isn't exactly attractive. He also said, some people get problems with the gap and then need an implant bolted into the bone, which he thinks I wouldn't be able to cope with. Apparently, I could go to a root canal specialist at the same surgery, but it would be private and cost £600! Thank heavens for my maternity exemption card!

Apparently I was very brave.

Have booked the boys and dd in for a check up on Friday morning, I don't want them getting as frightened of dentists as I am.

In other Moosey health news this afternoon: My ear infection and sinus infections have started to clear up on their own. Sinuses are beginning to drain and my ear is definitely less crackley and painful than it was before.

On yet another topic, we have noticed that ds1 seems to be a lot worse behaved after eating cheddar cheese sandwiches. Now we have always known that whenever he is ill he becomes a bit dairy intolerant for a couple of weeks and we have to switch over to soya, but bearing in mind that we are going to get him looked at in relation to ASD, it suddenly occurred to me in the middle of thie night yesterday that it could possibly be gluten/casein thing?

So I have done a fair bit of reading and think an exclusion diet might be worth a go. I have ordered a whole stack of free from stuff from Tesco, making sure to include plenty of treats so he doesn't feel hard done by and we are going to give it a go and see what happens.

Ooo gotta go, Mum has just arrived.

Catch up later.

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 26/10/2009 17:46

Evening

Good to hear Bracken is on the mend Tink. I love Blue Zoo clothes, I sometimes drool over them online as we don't have a Debenhams anywhere near us.

Books, good to hear dh has started to pull his weight with the night wakings. Glad ds is over the dreaded pox. Will keep everything crossed for you that dd doesn't get it.

Right, I'm off again, am in the middle of ordering cheap books for Christmas presents.

VerySpookyLennipillar · 26/10/2009 21:26

Well I'm still doing morning and night feeds - supply then seems fine so far, plentiful in fact so maybe I can continue with this. He's still getting 3-4 breastfeeds in 24 hours so not bad still, and it is liberating to be able to imagine leaving him for more than an hour or two. He's having about 18oz of formula a day - he's such a pig! No wonder he's broken the 25lb mark

Am off to my Mum's tomorrow so won't be in touch re: meet up except by text, and will be back on Thurs pm to catch up with everyone.

Moose - fab news on the tooth, what a wonderful dentist. I should know lots about root canals having had a father who was a dentist, but I know nothing. Sorry.

Qumps - many hugs re: DS1, hope he is feeling better soon and you are having wine and chocolate to replenish your nursing abilities.

Am also off to order Christmas books... eerily!

moosemama · 26/10/2009 21:47

25lb! DD is 17lb 6oz and her daddy was calling her chubbs tonight!

Did anyone see the thread about Christmas Eve Hampers for dcs. Lovely idea, I'm definitely adding it to our Christmas traditions this year.

spookywoollenhat · 27/10/2009 08:17

morning - early start here today, c decided it was time to play at six o'clock. she has now crashed out again, no such luck for me... my own fault that i'm tired, though, mooching about watching tv till after midnight [thicko emoticon]

moose, even though extractions are easier to cope with (have had two) than anything else at the dentist (which is not to say that they aren't disturbing and gross) i would go with the principle of keeping teeth where possible, if it were me. also, even the most distant possibility of something being bolted to a bone:

gumps - sorry about foot and mouth disease , hope lo on mend soon

books, tink, moose, glad to hear of recoveries at your houses.

soccer - hope you get your mice problem sorted.

tree, not a gaffe, a typo . mrsstripey is coming back from germany today - hurrah!

missjackson · 27/10/2009 08:39

Early start here.... 4.30am! Decided he wanted to play. I can handle night feeds no problem, but I can't handle night play. Set up baby cinema again which worked a treat. Back to sleep until 7.44am.

MM agree with spooks that although root canal sounds simply horrible, I would keep teeth where possible. Great that you have booked DSs in for appt and are hiding your fear from them. Teeth are a bit of an obsession for me. Lots of friends have had root canal and said it's actually fine, after dreading it. Good luck [hugs].

soccerette mouse quickly becomes 'mice'! We had mice in the old place and never quite got rid of them from the attic. Borrow a cat?! Yuck.... Shame offer got rejected but otoh at least you won't be facing lots of work. Am sure you will find somewhere really fab. Must be hard not knowing when you will have to move again. Us, on the other hand, are here, at least in this valley, for the rest of time, all being well. That's funny to know that too.

dog you will miss meet up but understand only too well the responsibility of horse ownership! Very hard to get away. Will look forwards to seeing you and DCs another time.

Lenni how great that the morning and night feeds are still going well - gives me hope for when I stop during the day.

Have mum & babies here this morning as it's half term so had better get up and hoover...

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 27/10/2009 09:55

morning

glad people on the mend

brackens cold has dried up now
i have just got a cough plus catarrh

Soccerette · 27/10/2009 13:43

Hey ladies.

Parents just left. Nice to have them here.

tink glad Bracken on mend, hope you feel better soon. Glad to hear she is having some texture. Esme has the same, 2 bottom middle teeth. She tries her best chewing things.

Missj 1 mouse down! :-D We'll see what happens whether anything appears in the rest of the traps. Yes, constant moving is a chore, but oh well- thats life.

Spookyhat i know, once their asleep you want some YOU time, even if its mooching infront of the tv. Then morning comes around so soon!

Lennipiller / Moose Funny how LO's vary so much in weigh. Esme 19lb 2. Chubby is good though!! :-D

Off shortly to view another house.
Nothing much new here, MORE guests arriving tomorrow, Blurrrrgh!

xx

treedeLivingDeadery · 27/10/2009 23:44

Moose - I had a root canal. This is big because a) I once bit a dentist in a fight or flight response and b] I have fainted after everysingle appointment where lignocaine was used and c] I didn't go for 15 years.

I did however sit through a 50 min root canal with no pain, no sensation, no stress, and no bother. The injection didn't hurt, I didn't faint afterwards as he changed the drug, and the toorh has never bothered me since. Excuse my french, but the bastard ruined my hen weekend in Ireland as it was moaning and swaying bad. Weekends on the lash with friends come few and far between [1 in last 6 years] so do retain a degree of bitterness about that tooth.

So I would say root cananl. They are fine. IME. Of one. So don't hunt me down if this turns out to be the worst advice.

I had an extraction for orthodiontic work. It was a healthy tooth, and a fat molar and I didn't like it at all. Crunch, whack, crunch, gristle, tear, crunk

YOur extraction would be easy as the root would not fight back. I am a tree, my roots mean business. That molar had roots like an oak.

Weigh clinic tomorrow of both mine. Had a day at a country park today. AM still zinging with stress so am going to lie in dark room and wait for baby to wake.

Sorry not to read thread, am swaying dribblen tree tonight

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 28/10/2009 08:41

morning

dh and dd1 had a great time with his parents in hull i am hoping that dd1 behaves with me today and doesnt start scremaing @ me etc.
for xmas were due to stay @ his brothers cant now. so we either :-

a) squeeze into his mums house every room has loads of clutter in so we do have to squeeze in like sardines.i get stressed @ his mums
b) stay @ a premier inn we would have more room would cost us and would all be in one room so sleeping wouldnt be much fun i would still rather stay in hotel

treedeLivingDeadery · 28/10/2009 09:20

Tink - no chance of

c) stay home quite and cosy and invite everyone who is slightly related ever to a Boxing day/night party?

Glad dd had a great time.

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 28/10/2009 09:35

no tree unfortunatley not.

basically we take it in turns with our familes over xmas.
last time we had xmas with dhs parents was when dd1 was 15 mnths.
we had her 1st xmas here @ ours with my family when she was 4 mnths old then hull @ 15mnths old. then @ my parents house. then i was heavily pregnant last year so couldnt go up when it should have been hull.
plus i didnt go up the week just gone.
someone will prob be ill anyway dd1 hasnt been ill still never got our cold she has chickenpox last xmas

spookywoollenhat · 28/10/2009 10:37

argh, christmas... tink, i'd go for the hotel too (if you can't stay at home). i have these dim memories of chrstmas not being traumatic, but i guess that's history now... we have dp's mum to stay every year for a week [sulking emoticon]

gorgeous day here, and it's not even hallowe'en yet, so i am not going to think about it...
