A homage to the Nightmare Before Christmas song. DH obsessed with that film, we all (DD included) have to watch it on Christmas Eve.

Brill weight loss dog - we will miss you tomorrow. EPPM is coming too! Am v v excited... why isn't there an excitement emoticon? Have fun at the theme park and say hi to scooby for us .

Trying to tidy house now - friend has been staying with DCs aged 12 and 8 - both boys - so it's been chaotic but lots of fun. N is having a ball. Trying to get him to sleep is not so easy when he can hear the fun continuing downstairs though. Anyway they are off today so we are having a quiet afternoon in preparation for the meet up tomorrow.

Hope you all having a nice day x

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 28/10/2009 15:39

i have lost alot of weight o i am down to 8lbs10 now due to not snacking and dont have much for lunch.
you have done well dog

moosemama · 28/10/2009 15:57

Thanks for the tooth advice Tree. You are not alone in assaulting dentists though, I stopped going after punching the dentist in the face (a reflex action when the anaesthetic didn't take and she drilled into the nerve). I did have to go back once to have the damage repaired, but had to have tranquillisers to get me through the door - I was high as a kite!

Am very of all this weight loss, but am still pleased for you Dog and Tink. I have another stone and a half to go and considering I am supposed to be avoiding high fat food I am not doing very well at the moment, I seem to be constantly stressed and stress always makes me crave fat and sugar.

We are staying at home again for Christmas this year. We broke with years of 'tradition' last year by not doing our families on alternate years and feel it would be daft to let ourselves be dragged back into it, as we were never happy and the boys hardly got to play with their toys on Christmas Day. Years ago, before we were married, we used to end up having two Christmas dinners as both Mum's got upset if we weren't going to them. We used to have one at lunch time and one in the evening - it was an absolute killer and we still couldn't win as we could only eat a small amount at both meals and they both still got offended.

We haven't quite worked out our plan of action for this year as yet though, as both families will at least expect a visit (we were excused last year as I was heavily pregnant and ds2 had only been out of hospital for a week). It makes sense to stay at home in the morning, have lunch then go out and visit families, but then dh can't drink until we get home in the evening as he is driving. The alternative is to do breakfast with my parents, then visit the ILs then home for lunch and the dc's can play with all their toys till bedtime AND dh gets to have a couple of beers.

If I were you Tink, I would definitely go for the hotel, at least you can escape to a relative-free zone then. We have all slept in the same room at travelodges several times with no problems at all (we even have one of the dogs in the room with us as well as the 3 dcs). At the end of the day, Christmas should be enjoyable for all of you and particularly the dc's, as our double Christmas dinner exploits proved - you can't please everyone, so you might as well please yourselves.

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 28/10/2009 16:55

cheers moos - i would rather stay here wouldnt be fair on dhs parents as we havent been up there for xmas for ages.

we stayed in a premium inn with dd1 on her bday and she wouldt go to sleep as we were in one room and trying to watch tv. ended up turing tv off @ 8am

with xmas you cant win with families etc it is a shame that dhs parents live so far away.

i find his parents stressful @ xmas like you say dds cant really play with toys will give them our pressies and stocking @ hotel and then will leave them there they can play with them when we get back.
they do lots of parties is always busy and hectic.
we will go dec 23rd to dec 27th which will already cost us £234 for 4 nights!!

they never have the room up in hull.

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 28/10/2009 18:58

also havent bought dds 2 much as travelling far

Gumps · 28/10/2009 20:03

Well in the words of ds1 he is 'very poorly and needs ice cream'. Poor little mite and what a horrid horrid illness. Apparently there is an epidemic round here as doc said he has had 12 cases this week and not seen it before for 3 years. I am blaming playgroup. Ds1 refusing to eat but managed to force porridge down him today. Won't really drink either and is very pale and croaky. Keeping everything crossed that S doesn't get it as it would be horrific. Poor S has been very neglected as ds1 is like a limpet but it has resulted in his sleeping. Possibly he feels no one has time for him so no point kicking off? Did have a bath with him this evening while ds1 was watching bebbies and it was so much fun. Used to do that with ds1 all the time
Christmas is here this year but with about 500 people. I like it that way though and everyone chips in. We do the turkey and then family broing all the bits. Great fun if slightly chaotic. Lots of booze helps everyone get festive! i am usually super organised and have everything colour coordinated and games and hand make things blah blah blah but think I am going to cut myself some slack this year and just enjoy the boys and the family.

hackneyzoo · 28/10/2009 20:11

Bookmarking...just back from visiting PILS up in newcastle, completely exhausted...

elkiedee · 29/10/2009 00:35

Just putting my head round the door to say goodnight before I go up to bed, I really shouldn't be up at this time.

Have been back at work for 2 days, half way through the week. C seems to have settled in to CM well, but I miss him.

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 29/10/2009 08:53

wow gumps that is alot of people for xmas!!

hackneyzoo · 29/10/2009 09:47

moose we are breaking the tradition this year and staying put, am really looking forward to having xmas at home. Everyone is descending on us instead, so it'll be a bit hectic but am sure the dcs will love it.

Moose and Dog Just read your take on having three dcs and found it very reassuring...now DH is finally all for it I keep on getting cold feet and thinking but am sure it will be fine, am sure having three under four will be great fun

Gumps Poor DS1, asking for ice cream from his sick bed must be a sure sign of recovery, hope he is feeling better.

Elkie Hope work is going ok, glad C has settled in with the childminder. I found it a lot tougher going back afte rhaving DC2 than DC1. Well you are nearly half way there so hope the rest of the working week flies by for you.

Tink Sounds like you have a hectic Christmas ahead of you, am sure it will feel all festive and cosy if you are in a hotel room together... after just coming back from 5 days at PILs (who are lovely but hard work) I would definitely be plumping for the hotel option.

MissJ EPPM Pat and everyone else who is meeting up, have a great time am very

Am off for a spa treatment package today, a friend of mine gave me a voucher for my 30th birthday back in march and have only just got round to booking it....massage, foot treatment, facial and something else I can't remember...my friend is coming with me and it is somewhere near the back of selfridges...am going to have to be hardcore and absolutely not not not enter selfridges...no shopping accidents msut happen today DD left her rabbit up at her GPs, so he is being couriered down this morning...am sitting here waiting for the bell to ring...can't believe we forgot the rabbit, that made the 4 hour train journey fun anyway

Gumps · 29/10/2009 11:29

HKZ I am the same! Now dh thinks its happening I am panicing that I can't cope.
Sorry actually shopping and just dropped in but MUST do something productive!
Ohhh enjoy spa you lucky thing!

treedeLivingDeadery · 29/10/2009 13:32

I got my period i feel really cut off frm the whole having a baby thing, and loosing bfing too.....all a bit really. I told DH and said oh I really want another baby you know, I want to have all that again and he said he didn't. Just like that.

I was very hurt you know. I am in the middle of helping someone else get their baby and facing up to the end of my maternity time, and I really felt her could have played this down for me.

Oh well.

Enjoy the spa HKZ!!!!

Gumps - how is ds doing?

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 29/10/2009 14:22

hkz - i thought hotel would be more sensible
spa sounds great i luved aqua sana @ centre parcs

tree - hugs and wispas coming your way

moosemama · 29/10/2009 17:00

Tree, sending hugs, chocolate and painkillers your way.

Agree, dh was being 'a man' and not thinking about how this might be a particularly sensitive issue at the moment. They can't help it, it really is a man thing - respond first, think later.

Snuggle up and take good care of yourself, you need extra special tlc.

Well .... I have been to the dentist, again and had half of my root canal done. Twas very scary and I had to have loads of extra injections because anaesthetics never take properly for me (yet another reason against having my gallbladder removed, I have nightmares about being one of those people that feels everything but can't move when under a GA).

Had it done at 2.15 and still can't feel my jaw, face, tongue or lips.

Another large part of tooth broke off and had to be extracted during the drilling! But I didn't feel a thing and he says they can still save the tooth. I have to go back on the 16th to have the temporary filling removed and a proper one put in, then a month later the tooth will be checked and a crown put on.

So still lots of luvverly dentist visits for me to endure and I am there again tomorrow morning with the boys for their check-up.

To be honest, I was so worried about dd screaming the place down for Mum while I was gone that I didn't start worrying about the procedure until I started walking up the road to the dentists. Fortunately she was really good. I snuck out while she was playing with her brothers and was only gone half an hour. She didn't scream once, despite screaming the place down when Mum arrived and walked in the living room half an hour earlier.

Hope everyone enjoyed the meet-up.

Right, have to go and cook the tea. Might be back later.

treedeLivingDeadery · 29/10/2009 19:05

Gosh well done Moose. They are ok aren't they? Much nicer than an extraction ime.

I still hane't had the crown. No funds - it's been 2.5 years!!!!

Had photo's done od dd's this afternoon. Was a pressi from photographer friend, he has a studio. We get one as part of the package he gave us as a Christening gift. I think th eaverage spend there is £800 so will have to show great restraint at the preview next week!

Had baby in nudy rudey, and 2 nappies, and her gown. DD1 in a cream dress. AM hoping they will look angelic and ethereal. The studio does more 'pop' fun type stuff, but my dd's suit the 18th centuary better than this so went with their style

Back ache nad belly ache and heavy heavy bleed. Yak.

Tink - I think all of you in the hotel room sounds quite lovely. YOu could do a special 'Christmas camp' and make it loads of fun.

moosemama · 29/10/2009 20:18

Thanks Tree. Yes I think it was much better than a full on extraction. I think I've worked out that my fear comes out of all the metal and mechanical stuff. I thought it was going to be the drill that bothered me the most, but it actually turned out to be the little metal hook that frightened me the most.

I know what you mean about the cost though, thank God it happened while I've still got my exemption card.

Your girls always look beautiful so their pictures are sure to be stunning. Maybe you should leave your purse at home for the viewing, or it could work out verrry expensive.

Sorry you are feeling so rough, get the hot water bottle out and you definitely need medicinal chocolate.

Dd is off her food and milk today. Not sure what's up, but think she might be about to spring another couple of teeth. Definitely got bulgy gums at the top and to the right of her lower incisors. Oh - and she really nipped me this lunchtime as well - ouch!

VerySpookyLennipillar · 29/10/2009 22:26

Hello am back but feel like in perpetual motion due to huge amount of time spent in transit this week. NEEEEED SLEEEEPPP.

TREE [GRrrrrr] (sorry caps) hope you feel hormonally more sound soon and less , for you, amazign lady.

Night all

OP posts:
treedeLivingDeadery · 29/10/2009 22:51

Night Lenni.

Moose, is the crown being done for free? Thats very good. Mine was going to be £250 with NHS dentist, £400 private

Not too worried about belly ache etc. More heartache that is a pita.

DH said he thought about it more today and says we would be poor with 2, so poor with 3 is no worse. He has concerns about childcare which is fair and valid. Hos parents would be really too old. He has valid points. All of which I am ignoring. I just know I want another. We'll see. Give it time. I wish I didn't have to work. No shifts or childcare worries. I think I would be a good inch taller without the weight of those 2 things..

treedeLivingDeadery · 29/10/2009 22:52

Oh dog - I think it's common isn't it? I think I I had this same complaint a few thrad back? No advice as it has me stumped. An evening out if possible? I have booked me and dh into a hotel for a one night break. I would actually love to go on my owm for peace and just to be on my own. But I think he needs a break too and we need to be on our own and away from home.

Poor Bracken Tink. Teething??
I think it was stripey who gave me my name? Not my own work, it's very good isn't it!! Or was it Stripey who invented a kick ass eggy thread title?
