A homage to the Nightmare Before Christmas song. DH obsessed with that film, we all (DD included) have to watch it on Christmas Eve.

OP posts:

HI - just in from eggy run. We have follicles!! Not as many as I hoped, but hopefully good ones. I have to go again tomorrow [dd2 was less good on the 5 hour train spell today, hope for better tomorrow] to see how they are doing. The harvest on Friday or Saturday.

Really hope Sat so dh is able to come with and help me home after the sedation/GA.

Will catch up when have had a breather. Headache continues.....

treedelivery · 24/11/2009 19:36

9 follicles. All good sizes and probably rady to harvest by Fri/SAt. Hard day today, am tired and glad to be home. Scan again tomorrow.

AM delighted at the size and regularity of the follicles, just wish there were 12 or more.

stripeywoollenhat · 24/11/2009 20:21

tree - nine follicles is nine eggs-in-waiting, right? that seems pretty good to me is the headache related, do you think? pretty amazing of you to turn around and go back again tomorrow... is that it when they harvest them, or are you going to do another round?

eppm, c has just taken to sleeping on her tummy as well, and is very hit or miss with eating. i am assuming she'll work out that food is good soon...

missj, glad you are enjoying work

lenni - i am working hard on ignoring christmas until december....

hkz, sorry there's more waiting, you were right to stay at home and take a breather.

well, c has got a snotty nose today, and a tooth cutting, and dp has work stress. it's a laugh at my house . a beer and season five of the west wing for me now, i think

EachPeachPearMum · 24/11/2009 20:31

HKZ- as far as I know, he didn't have any lesions, though at that time we were living abroad, and only came back just as they operated on him. They did get the whole of it out, yes... it was inside the very top of the lung cavity, so they went in through the armpit to get it. It wasn't complicated by being round his spine, but was pretty large- was doughnut shaped and sized around the nerve bundles (hence the neurology input).

hackneyzoo · 24/11/2009 20:43

Thanks EPPM, that's interesting to know. Got a call ealrier and J is going in for a biopsy some time soon tbc. I am pretty amazed at the size from the MRI scan. (MRI scan is fascinating by the way, I'd never seen one before and was )

Hooray for follicles Tree, bummer about the headache, is it a result of the donation process? Hope it eases off.

MissJ...I'm sure DH would be happy for some bloke company...where in London are you staying, Muswell Hill way again? Will FB you

Well my normal slutty Tuesday evening marathon of crap tv (enders, holby, ugly betty...very sad) is being ruined by my children...both were in bed by 7, DD woke up screaming just before east enders and has a temp of 38.6, have dosed her up with calpol and she is now right as rain talking thorugh Holby and asking for chocolate biscuits, DS was just completely unsettled, so now he is taking out all the toys I put away at 7 and bum shuffling round the room, all 3 of us are spluttering and DH....has gone to the pub to escape for an Amnesty meeting.
Argghhhh.

treedelivery · 24/11/2009 21:03

HKZ - headache result of the stimulation drugs. Have also gained about 6 kg in 8 days, and have tummy ache. Be worth it though. So am not bothered, it will pass.

Sorry your evening isn't going according to plan! Nor here, dd2 will not sleep in her cot. Only in arms

Hope dd continues well and settles.

Hullo EPPM!! Hullo Lenni!! Sorry you are having exhausting times with cerebral child. DD is cerebral, I had to spend A Long Time explaining how trams work and what the point is

Hope biopsy is soon for you all HKZ.

Aww dog ((((((((((hugs)))))))))

I have a book...let me find it for you.

Yes Moose, I was thinking about you today. Great you have a good GP. How brilliant. Someone you can pour it out too and be sure of some wisdom. HUge Huge help. Hope you are ok there Mrs. x

treedelivery · 24/11/2009 21:38

this book

Quite good, although I dunno if I need more recipes for spaghetti bolognese. Still though, it does motivate.

I'm sorry you are feeling lonely. That is not good.

PatTheHammer · 24/11/2009 22:01

Boookmarking. Big waves to all. have read but absolutley shattered so will type more tomorrow.

Dog-i know what you feel like, life is getting on top of me in abig way at the moment.

Stripey-ignoring xmas till december sounds like my kind of plan.

HKZ-so relieved for the no chemo thing for you but sounds very stressful still.

MissJ-Yay to still feeding, I'm amazed that Nye still fits in the bath with you he is a big lad!!! Work sounds good, that first week back is so hard though.....I still catch myself daydreaming of DS at work (embarrassingly made myself leak milk the other day IN A LESSON).

Tree- good going with the follicular exploits

Lenni/dog/EPPM et al with demon DD'd. The pasta jar, hmmmmmmmm. it IS having some affect, it is not eradicating behaviour but she does stop something naughty when a piece is taken out. Overall there is a slight net gain at the end of the day (as you would bloody hope with a 5:1 ratio) and this haas got better after a few days. It IS also making me praise more and try to head off 'triggers' for poor behaviour. Not sure it is an out and out success at the moment. The one that gets me the most is when she aims stuff at DH 'I don't like you' etc, as he doesn't always have the backbone to ignore it. yesterday she had a supreme tantrum at bathtime (well overtired, eye-rolling and 'not all there' as she was so tired) and we both laughed our way through it as it was so ridiculous. We didn't bathe her but just put herto bed and gave her a cuddle and books and she fell asleep in record time. Usually, we would have shouted and screamed at each other so this is progress

See you all soon x

moosemama · 24/11/2009 22:26

Hi

Just nipping by to say well done Tree. 9 follicles is great! Good luck for the harvesting at the weekend, hope you are going to treat yourself in some really lovely way when its over, you really deserve it.

Been back to GP with ds2 this morning. His chest sounds clear, but he went a strange colour and was quite poorly and floppy first thing, so been advised to keep him off school a bit longer, especially as there are some suspected SF cases and a nasty vomiting virus in school at the moment.

Also had my follow up Gastro appointment this afternoon. Apparently I have a few gallstones, but the gallbladder itself is healthy and no sign of inflammation or infection. They are happy for me not to have the op for the time being but want me to go back to the GP and be referred to a surgeon at the first sign of any gallbladder-type symptoms. The doc managed to insult me when talking about my heartburn/GORD symptoms though, by saying "symptoms usually continue after pregnancy as the oesophageal sphincter never quite manages to close up again. After delivery the pressure drops and that helps most women, you may find it will improve even more when you've lost the baby weight." Cheeky so and so! OK so I am not exactly sylph-like, but I am currently a stone and a half lighter than when I got pregnant with dd! I was not impressed.

Loadsa other crap going on here (not mine this time - but close family, so obviously having an impact and adding to the general stress and exhaustion) I won't bore you all with it though.

Have read the thread quickly, but am really exhausted and not retained much. Gather there's an awful lot of us struggling at the moment, so hugs to all. Strange that we all seem to be having it tough at the same time.

Oh - and I did notice you have been competing to beat my mammoth post sizes. You'll never do it my friends - I am queen of the mahoosive postings I tell ya! Mwah-ha-ha!

EachPeachPearMum · 24/11/2009 22:48

Hmm Pat... pasta jar does not work with my dd... she just looks at me and says "Are you going to take a pasta out Mama? Here, can I unscrew the jar?"

Nothing works, not sanctions, not rewards, not pleading

Had tantrums all the way home from nursery today, though she actually went to bed well, as she was so tired.

Moose- will they just leave the gallstones there then?

SherryMerryLennipillar · 24/11/2009 23:03

Unconditional Parenting book I am off to bed now to read a bit of it so will report back.

I think I am feeling exhausted as much as anything - up every night, monotonous days, a year of constant worry... sounds like exactly what we've all suffered. And now with long nights and the busy preparations for Christmas it is hitting home how tired I am. But I've started planning DD and DS's party today and that has cheered me up no end. How exciting to think that in 6 weeks I have a 1 year old

SherryMerryLennipillar · 24/11/2009 23:06

You know we need a new thread by the end of next week ready for Christmas and 1st birthdays so you all need to start talking to use this one up quick!

Must find the old list too - is Chef's DD first to turn 1? Or Qumps DS?

at Dog! And no I don't remember you complaining about still being pregnant at all although I got lucky and DS disembarked a week early - couldn't have beared to go over. Still feels like yesterday that you posted about squeezing your homebirth in by the skin of your teeth.

Ah, happy days.
