In honour of sausage's forthcoming nuptials, with a nod to imminent weaning.

llaregguBOO · 16/10/2009 19:29

I've just packed away the carry-cot, the crib and every other item used for a baby under 6 months. And now, with the weaning business underway, I am feeling terribly broody again.

It has gone 7pm and both of my boys are upstairs in bed an suddenly I have my evening back. I'm staring at G's empty chair where he has spent the last 6 months and I miss him.

He was excellent company today in his highchair while I cleaned the kitchen and he laughed at his brother when he was doing funny things. He is developing a little personality and my little baby is growing rapidly.

I don't remember feeling like this with DS1. I think I was excited about every development and was eager for the next stage. Now with number 2 I want to hang onto each stage in case we don't have a number 3.

(end of indulgent self-obsessed post)

EtherealFiByTheSea · 16/10/2009 19:45

pula just seen your fb update how cute is your dd! well done her and which did she choose?

pulapumpkin · 16/10/2009 19:50

Ah thanks fi- she chose apple juice .

EtherealFiByTheSea · 16/10/2009 19:55

smart choice imo pula that's a great thing the school does.

HeadlessLadyH · 16/10/2009 19:58

Just popping in to wish saus a happy hen night.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 16/10/2009 19:59

llare ikhyf it's all happening so quickly this time but all at the same time.

sausagemonstermash · 16/10/2009 20:11

Ooooh thanks for all the hen wishes! Will ensure pics are taken and slap them on facebook. (Headless - not sure if we are fb 'friends'?)

Llare - ah bless. We've put away the moses basket now too (which my brother wants for his new arrival in December) - don't want to part with it, makes me sad that M is getting big. Silly me.

Salem - am guessing that mws can party like nurses... and there's a few of them out tomorrow. God help Soho, that's all I can say!

Off for a glass of vino - will fill you in on the shenanigans on Sunday!!

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 16/10/2009 20:11

saus - have a great time tomorrow. We went to Vinopolis for mine and did wine tasting with a meal in the restaurant there in the evening. I vaguely remember a v drunken stagger back to get the train home!

Pula - well done your DD!

I'm getting fed up of bedtime routine taking over the whole evening. I'm sitting feeding O now and he's only just going sleepy. In the meantime take away has arrived and DH has eaten his. Guess I'll be heating mine up. Sorely tempted go introduce formula so DH can do one or two evenings a week.

Trip to Brighton today was good. Everyone was v taken with O.

Salemchocolates · 16/10/2009 20:21

llare I know how you feel too. Unfortunately due to C's size I had to do it a few months ago. Every step forward she takes makes me sad, because every step is a step away from her being my little (big) baby.

have fun sausage

Will have to check pula's fb status now. I wonder what your dd was up to

good, all dcs are in bed now. Time for me to relax. I wonder if there's anything good on telly tonight? I'm having my dinner on my own tonight. I normally eat with the dcs, but ds had a friend over to play and he stayed for dinner. I didn't fancy eating with them as they were a touch over-excited. I was so happy when his little friend was gone, because poor C couldn't sleep from the racket they were making (hence her typing on my lap I fancied a bit of Indian, but home delivery is for orders over £15 and I don't think I can eat that much food on my own, so it's going to have to be a pizza I think.

ScarySpangleMaker · 16/10/2009 20:52

llare I know what you mean though I probably have more mixed feelings, as H is our first but also in all probability our last 6 months is a real landmark, isn't it? One of my NCT group babies was exactly 6 months at our meet up so we had a little candle on a cake (should have been half a cake!) and reminisced... it's so strange how quickly it's gone yet how long ago my pre-H life seems.

Ses hope you manage to get O down soon. I do empathise as H went through a period of 6 weeks of being a nightmare at bedtimes, and I spent many an evening standing in a darkened bedroom shushing, rocking (he wouldn't even let me feed him!) and holding his hand while DH was eating his meal and mine was getting cold. It sounds like you're doing well with the routine though, so I'm sure O will get there before too long. I think the babies are supposed to have a development spurt at around 26 weeks and may be grizzly in the preceding few weeks, so he may be better after that, if not before.

I'm just waiting for DH to come back from visiting MIL and collecting the Chinese takeaway MIL is awaiting a further op to put a tube between her kidneys and bladder but apparently there are only one or two consultants that can do it so she's having to wait for a slot. She's an amazingly patient patient, I would be climbing the walls after 3+ weeks in hospital.

Bugger I forgot to make it and

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 16/10/2009 21:00

Spangle - thanks for reassurance. He's been settled now for just over half an hour but that's settled in the v loosest sense as I keep hearing murmurings. I'm sitting here stressed out and fed up and wondering what I'm doing wrong. It all seems worse when you're tired.

As well as all that, DH has just told me that he's been approached about a new job. 3yr contract building a new airport. Salary would mean I wouldn't have to go back to work. Draw back is the job is in Kuwait!!! Either. We'd all move out there for 3yrs or DH would go for a couple of months at a time and then come home for a week!
Offer isn't definite yet but who knows what we'd do!

LoobyWooooooooh · 16/10/2009 21:00

evening all

saus have a fab hen night

had some good news today, one of the childrens centres called this morning - I've got a place on the baby massage course (4 fridays 10.30-11.30) starting 6th Nov. When I put our names down they said they were fully booked - AND IT'S FREE!

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 16/10/2009 21:07

Looby - that's great!!
How's your evening going?

LoobyWooooooooh · 16/10/2009 21:32

good thanks ses

M has been asleep in her cot since 7.30, so DH, DSD and I are sat in front of a roaring fire watching Have I got News for You, DSD doesn't really understand it but wants to stay up a bit longer think she's off to bed now tho

I've had a glass of cider and am ready for bed myself.

think M is constipated - she makes her funny squeaky pooing noise but when I checked there was only a skidmark she hasn't pooed since Monday and seems in pain so gave her a bottle of apple juice and boiled cooled water earlier.

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 16/10/2009 21:36

Aww poor M. Sure that'll do the trick.

I'm going to head off to bed now - I'm exhausted so hope O stays asleep.

G'night!

LoobyWooooooooh · 16/10/2009 21:37

night

I'm off too

SinisterJenn · 16/10/2009 22:31

looby Love your name

Dandy? Love the thought of your picture

I'm so sorry for not reading properly. Dh and I have been arguing loads and not talking for the last few days. We're actually fine and talking now but . As for sex.....Ha we haven't had it since the night I went into labour.....and if he doesn't make his appointment with the urologist to get his knob disconnected we are never having sex again. [mwahahahaha]

Anyway dd2 (5 months) is fab and long and wearing 9-12 month clothes if they are body suits or dungarees or vests, and 6-9 if they are separates. Chewing furiously on everything which neither of my other dc did.

We are decorating ds's bedroom (hence arguments) and dd1 has been ill for a week, so sleep is thin on the ground. We got a decorator to do dd1's room, and now think it would save our marriage if we never try to decorate ourselves again. I think I've read on other threads, that getting a cleaner has saved the poster's marriage. I understand completely.

Well that's me for the weekend. I've got a Nearly New Sale tomorrow and then am off to Southport for a night out with my friends from school. I get to see them only twice a year, and for the first time in ages I'm going to be able to drink because I'm staying at my mum and dad's and am not pregnant. Wooooo.

ScarySpangleMaker · 16/10/2009 22:31

Looby hope you enjoy the baby massage course. We're completing ours next week - it cost £3 a session though - brilliant that yours is free. The same woman is doing a mum & baby yoga course following on so I'm hoping I can get a place on that.

Ses what a tough choice. There's a lot to think about. Would you like to give up work? Just thinking, there may be some MNers who have lived in Kuwait and could tell you what it's like.

H's normal routine seems to have been disrupted today. He was awake at 7.45am, struggled on until 11.45am then slept until 3.15pm , just waking for 2 feeds, then to sleep at 6.30pm (early for him) but is currently awake talking to himself following a feed and massive poo

OP posts:
Salemchocolates · 16/10/2009 22:35

ses C went through a bad bedtime spell too a few weeks ago. It just sort of went. I just carried on the bedtime routine as normal. Maybe she's teething? That can cause some disturbed sleep.

looby great news on the baby massage classes. M and you will love it.

Bedtime for me now. Goodnight everyone.

ScarySpangleMaker · 16/10/2009 22:36

Jennster x-posts. Hope you get back to happier days with your DH. Agree (from personal experience) home improvement projects are not good for a marriage. at long DD2. H still has plenty of room in 3-6m, and is currently 6.5m or 5.5m corrected. Have a good weekend.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 17/10/2009 11:04

i'm not convinced ds has chicken pox.. no more spots like the one on his knee have appeared. he has had a temp for the last few days though. is it possible to get just one chicken pox?! maybe it's brewing? i would have thought more spots would have come out by now?

decorating i stay out of dh's way as it puts him in a dreadful mood!

i hope the nearly new sale is a good one jennster and enjoy your drinks at M & Ds too.

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 17/10/2009 12:31

Fi - I think it would be quite unusual to just have the one spot but not impossible. Must be frustrating.

Salem - could be teething. Both bottom ones are fully through now. They're v obvious and people keep commenting.
Does anyone know is it normal for the two top ones to appear next?

Spangle - guess we'll have to wait and see if a firm offer comes. In an ideal world I'd want to work half a day or one day a week to keep my hand in. Good idea to post on here about Kuwait.

Jenn - sorry to hear you and DH have been arguing but good that you're talking again now. I've had moments since O has been born when I've never felt more distant from DH. Hope things continue to improve for you.

Monstermomi · 17/10/2009 13:12

hi all.
gonna catch up post by post and make full use of the emoticons !

tummum, hope you're feeling better about feeding today and echoing what everyone else has reassured: you have done/are doing a great job as a mum. best thing for a child is a happy mum, so relax in that you're doing the best in their best interest. BF for nearly 6 months is a massive achievement, i'm sure that puts you in a small percentage of the population (not sure what it is though .

sausage, have a great hen party!

muddleddaizy · 17/10/2009 13:23

Hi there, hope all are well.

Jen sorry to hear you and your dh have been arguing. Hope things continue to get better.

Sausage Have a great hen party!!

Fi One of my friends had chicken pox as a child one on her bum and one in her mouth. Unfortunately she caught it again from me when we were teenagers!

Been to the NCT sale this am. I ended up taking the dc, which wasn't great, but they were well behaved for a change!

My sister has just been poking her tongue out at ds2 and he's been trying to copy her - so cute!!

Off to the Cheltenham Literature Festival to see Dick Strawbridge this evening! Not my 1st choice, but I was trying to work out who I could see when I had available babysitters!! Plus DH and I get to go out alone
