In honour of sausage's forthcoming nuptials, with a nod to imminent weaning.

headless heating not on but blazing fire in living room and M has an extra blanket on

ScarySpangleMaker · 12/10/2009 20:00

At the moment we have the heating on for an hour in the morning, an hour in the evening and probably an hour or so in the day if it feels a bit nippy.

DH does baths here but we switched to doing them in the morning when H had his phase of overtired screaming for 1 hour plus each evening and the bath was just too much. Bed time routine is now massage, feed, bed. It's actually worked better since DH has been away/hospital visiting. I'm sure I'd prefer an extra hand if I had 2 though.

We had a minor disaster last week while DH was away. I was giving H his bath in the baby bath and he managed to pull the plug with his foot and water gushed everywhere. There was an extension lead a couple of ft from the bath so I had to chuck H to one side and quickly throw down everything I could find - clean + dirty clothes, muslins - to soak up the water. For some reason I didn't think of moving the extension lead out of the way .

Oooh apple crumble........mmmmmmmmmm.

We put the heating on for bathtime but it appears to have been put on in the morning too. We've still got the summer weight duvet on though.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 12/10/2009 20:10

hiya

muddled to hear about the probs & hope you can work them out soon.

no famous boyfriends here either...

heating been on occasionally over the last week... mostly to warm up ds's bedroom which can get quite cold at night. All the rest of the radiators are turned down to just below 1.

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 12/10/2009 20:11

Headless - heating on here for a couple of hrs am&pm. My DH gets home too late for bath too.

Routine not working tonight. DS is still awake and I'm knackered. Should be the other way round! He had his afternoon nap at 4.30-5.15 (although I did take him up for it at 3.30) so maybe his nap was too close to bedtime. He's currently feeding but doesn't seem tired. I'm tempted to take him downstairs to play for a bit or do you think that will confuse him and the routine we e been doing for the last 6 nights?

llaregguBOO · 12/10/2009 20:14

Ses I'm by far the wrong person to ask about routines. I've no idea when DS2 naps, I'm still waiting for a pattern to emerge. Generally he is asleep by around now though. Personally I would follow his cues and bring him downstairs. DS2 still sleeps downstairs with us and comes up to bed when we go, and he sleeps well.

Salemchocolates · 12/10/2009 20:15

Apple crumble mmmm yumyum. Can I have some?

heating Today is my 1st every day with the heating on all day. We do live in an old single glazed house. We've been having it on in the evenings for the last 5 days or so I think.

bath time I only do bath time 2 days a week unless the dcs are exeptionally dirty. They do hands and face every day. I think ds will soon swap to more regulare showers, being that he's nearly 8.

spangle Lol at the bath time disaster. I've taken to bathing C in the normal bath. She sort of grew out of it in 3 months

headless How annoying about the return of AF and your lovely new PJ's

After spending most of yesterday asleep, today C decided to go for the opposite. She was as good as gold though, but still...

I've managed to set up my host family profile and am all set up to find an ap. C also managed to take a bottle, so I managed to do everything I meant to do today.

llaregguBOO · 12/10/2009 20:16

Spangle I meant to add something about your scary bath story. Things like that only happen when you're on your own, don't they?

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 12/10/2009 20:16

Spangle - that must have been really scary!

Llare - I think there's a few of us that'd like a bowl of crumble if there's any going??!

Salemchocolates · 12/10/2009 20:18

ses I had a similar thing with C today, but for naptime and took her back down. I would take him down if he doesn't seem tired. As long as you do your routine again (minus bath obviously), he should still be getting his cues that it's bedtime.

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 12/10/2009 20:25

Thanks Llare and Salem
If he doesn't show signs of sleep in next 5 mins, I'll take him down minus his Gro-bag for a bit.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 12/10/2009 20:29

G stays with us until I go to bed... She normally drifts off at about 8pm... but currently is still awake (although drowsy atm)

mmmm apple crumble... fridge is looking quite empty this evening but sainsbo's delivering tomorrow pm YAY! have ordered some treats so tomorrow night i'll be

pulapumpkin · 12/10/2009 20:30

Ses- it does take a while to get into a routine so don't worry about the odd blip- i think my DS2 would sometimes be awake til 9pm when i was aiming for 7.30pm bedtime. I would just take him downstairs as it wasn't much fun just sitting with him in a darkened room. He now goes to sleep before 7.30 every night, even if he naps late, sometimes as late as 6pm if he fell asleep whilst we were out. He knows the routine so well now that he always goes to bed when i put him down, so i'm sure O will get there in a few weeks time.

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 12/10/2009 20:36

Well he's gone back to sleep whilst feeding so I've put him in his cot. I can hear murmurings though so if he wakes up properly, he's coming down.
Pula - thanks, that's reassurring

EtherealFiByTheSea · 12/10/2009 20:53

this will make you all feel a lot warmer... it's a clip of a snow storm on 1st jan 2009 in pictou county Nova Scotia

EtherealFiByTheSea · 12/10/2009 20:55

The lady that filmed it while standing in her back garden posted the link for any of us wondering what a NS winter might be like!

SinisterJenn · 12/10/2009 21:04

muddle Hope you work things out

Ses Love your name

Momi yes Gomez Tom Gray. He went to my school and used to play mandolin at our school masses.

Monstermomi · 12/10/2009 21:20

finally sat down and starting to read posts whilst dh makes supper.

headlessH, i'm so impressed by you having bath/bed over by 7. we only trudge upstairs by that point. tonight I had Harper crying whilst I was getting the other 2 ready for bed. so put H to bed then DD1&2 got 'active'. by the time i got them to bed it was 8pm. at least H was quiet by that time, bless her. I wish DH would be home for bath/bedtime but he's usually back no earlier than 7.30 (it was 8.30 tonight).

pula, I bet you're incredibly efficient. tired, but efficient .

ok gotta catch up on other posts.

HeadlessLadyH · 12/10/2009 21:25

momi its only bath really over by 7. Don't be too impressed! R is in bed by then but then he is simple to put to bed. With DS1 he's in his PJs and then bed by about 7.15 for story time. I don't mind him staying up a bit later at the weekend - and he seems to have taken a liking to Hole in the Wall on Sat nights so he will stay up to watch that. And fall asleep on the sofa subsequently.

DH has an exam tomorrow in london... if he passes it he'll be off on a residential course this sunday for 7days in Lincoln... so as from sunday i'll be doing dinner, bed and bath routine on my own
