that has become my plan daisy

have a great time in the north foxy, new year wishes to you also.

I'll be back on later after the drink...

trace2 · 31/12/2009 17:36

happy new year ladies!!!!

Sputnik · 31/12/2009 20:41

You too Trace! How did the xmas tree competition go. I voted for you too.

I am MNing on NYE, how sad is that? It-s that or socialise with MIL who has majorly pissed me off. I have a stinking cold, spent all day shopping and cleaning only to have her criticise the state of my kitchen floor (which was actually clean).
Sorry, didn-t come here to rant, but to wish you all a happy new year

happynewRia · 31/12/2009 21:03

rant away sputnik. am glad I am spending NYE on my own (though am a bit that DH isn't here) The boys are in bed and I'm just doing all my messages online, then I'm off for my bath with my bubbly

I have a sneaky feeling I have a tiny broken bone in my foot. It hurts. But no bruising or swelling so maybe not?

happy new year all, I hope you enjoy your festivities

Sputnik · 31/12/2009 21:22

Actually I would love to do that Ria, enjoy! Sorry your DH has to work though.
I broke a bone in my foot once, the only thing you can do is rest it. If it still hurts in a couple of days maybe you should get it checked out.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2009 21:36

no festivities here. Had a fucking horrible day with the children; they were up half the night again last night so we are both knackered and have been in foul moods all day. We have had our meal....it was lovely, especially the butternut squash roasted in butter and chilli flakes, and are now vegging out watching Lara Croft nonsense and trying to stay awake to see in the bells.

Missing being in Scotland . No offense to all of England/rest of the world, but it's just not the same elsewhere!! Am also a little nostalgic for NY of my childhood wher we always had a houseful of people after the bells.

Was rather hoping for a bit of New Year cheer from DH, but he is claiming he is too knackered/ill Ah well, at least he can't complain that I never offer!!!

Ria, I'll keep you company as I have a feeling DH will be tucked up in bed well before midnight.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 31/12/2009 21:46

Also nostalgic for the NY of my childhood here. Mum and Dad always had NYE parties, which I loved as a child. We are all full of curry and have just re-watched Dr Who (I have such a crap memory I had forgotten half of it already ) ready for tomorrow's climax and now taking turns on the guitar and drinking Baileys. Hope to see the NY in, but may flake out, depending on how much Baileys slips down!

Ria, they think I broke a bone in my foot once, but refused to confirm with an xray as the treatment would be the same. Don't know if that's any help or not?

Oh and Mr J took Jamlet bargain hunting this pm (to give me a chance to chop onions and grind spices in peace) and came home with loads of reduced price sausages and packs of posh sausagemeat, organic chicken and pork chops, plenty of reduced priced fruit and veg, and some ready-to-wok noodles at 10p a pack. So not a bad haul

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2009 21:57

I had a broken bone in my foot once Ria; I was stomped on by a woman in stilletos at a ceilidh [ouch]. No treatment other than let nature take it's course and it was months before it stopped hurting.

lol jammy at rock'n'roll and baileys! you should be drinking bolly or krug

happynewRia · 31/12/2009 22:39

yay for Mr Jammy, I knew he wouldn't let us down by missing bargains! I bought some cut-price lamb steaks today and froze them. I will cook them for my uncle when we have roast chicken (he worked on a chicken farm when he was a teenager and can't eat it)

I had a feeling that nothing would be done about my foot, which is why I didn't demand DH taking me to hospital when I did it (he would have gone if it had been him). Will strap it up tomorrow if we are doing much walking, I didn't today and am paying for it now. I fear my football career may be over

my black pepper and ginger body scrub was the best thing ever. Am all shiny and sleepy now. Don't think I'll see midnight. Hope there aren't too many fireworks. My Dsis rang me earlier to make sure I wasn't going to ring them at midnight. Miseryguts. Not that I would have (probably), but how

justbeme · 01/01/2010 00:13

Happy New Year to you all!!
Just come in from a friends party - and managed to transfer Lo from car without waking up - result!!

Hope your foot is ok Ria.

On the 29th at Tesco, there was a free for all - we were allowed to find stuff on the shelves dated 29th and queue up for a member of staff to add a reduced sticker!!

Got loads of fillet steak, an free range chicken, lamb chops and steak mince - over £40 worth for not even £4.00!! Do I win the prize for best bargains

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 01/01/2010 15:53

I think you do JBM - even DH is in awe!

We have had our now traditional NY day outing to Pizza Express for lunch. Jamlet started using her knife properly for the first time to spread garlic butter on her dough balls and looked very cute doing so Then we had a trip to the park where all the children were having a whale of a time and all the adults were saying "Don't you want to go home yet? It's freezing."

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 01/01/2010 19:05

Happy New Year

HAd a quiet one; dinner with DH was lovely, but he had been up since 4am and gainly made it to 11.15 before collapsing in a heap so I saw the year in on my lonesome and was in bed by half past 12.

Kids up at 5ish again today and I was on shift, but went back to bed for a couple of hours once Dh got up at half nine, then we were out at a friend's for a late lunch/early tea, getting back in time for getting the little ones in bed and settling down for Doctor Who.

Wow at the tesco bargains jbm! I need to do a bit more bargain hunting I think; we are getting a Waitrose here soon so am looking forward to some bargains there; sainsbury's are rubbish at reducing prices, even on the last day!

happynewRia · 01/01/2010 21:55

JBM

justbeme · 01/01/2010 22:07

Very good on the knife holding Jammy - can't see that happening for a while yet here. I still end up feeding Lo most of the time - its a viscious (sp?)circle - I know if I didnt feed her in the end she'll get the message - but for a quiet life, I still feed her!!!! Does anyone else, or am I the only one?

Had a nice walk to the lakes near us today and then back to a friends for a late lunch.

LO just going to bed, so off to watch Gavin and Stacey in a bit (on tape aka DVD - we still say "taped"!)

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 01/01/2010 22:19

I often talk about watching a video JBM, even though we've used a hard drive recorder for about 7 years now.

Feeling pretty rubbish here. Depression seems to have really reared it's head the past few days Had thoughts I've never had before (enough said) and feeling very confused. Don't know if it's a totally corny "another year over and what have I achieved" type thing or that I've had too much alcohol over the Xmas period and that's not mixed well with the meds or what. Sorry to let all that out

Have just watched Dr Who (we were "busy" ahem) when it was on, and cried through half of it, but am v dissappointed not to find out waht was so special about Bernard Cribbens

justbeme · 01/01/2010 22:26

Sorry you're not feeling too good Jammy - could be a combination of both of those things.
Are you still seeing a councillor??

I keep getting flashbacks from that Tsunami programme the other night - I got very upset watching that.

happynewRia · 01/01/2010 22:53

jammy. It could be a combination of those things, plus delayed stress of your Dad being ill and the weather affecting your xmas plans etc. Have a and take care. I know I struggle at this time of year usually.
I believe DS1 and DH sobbed through Dr Who too (and then again in Confidential), I took baggins and DS2 to terrorise their grandparents!

Had a rubbish shitey day with disappointment running through it like seaside rock

happynewRia · 01/01/2010 23:00

and don't worry about telling us how you feel jammy, it's what we're here for.

FWIW, DH recorded Dr Who (for me!) on a proper VHS relic as we are without HD recorder until we change to BT vision (following a huge apology, bill alteration and set discounted price promise from them after a year of wrangling about DH ending our contract early last time) sometime soon.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 01/01/2010 23:22

Thanks. Feeling tearful and exhausted now so off to bed. Will try to be a little more positive tomorrow.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 01/01/2010 23:23

jbm, Dd would let me feed her if she thought she could get away with it, and we get a lot of "feed me like a baby", but with bumble keeping me occupied she just gets left to get on with it! Once your new baby arrives you will be similarly occupied I guess!!

{{{{hugs}}}} jammy. I am plagued with horrible thoughts a lot of the time, so know where you are at . Booze and ADs really do not mix, so probably a lot to do with that, or it may be that you need to tweak your dose a bit so worht talking to your doctor about it. I was on one 50mg sertraline a day, but it was increased to 75mg (I would take one/two on alternate days)and it made a huge difference. I'm now back down to one a day and doing great, although my recent over indulgence has taken it's toll a bit as I am ever so slightly very grumpy and not sleeping well.

and on that note...time for bed

Sputnik · 02/01/2010 18:06

Hope you-re feeling a bit better today Jammy.
JBM you are not alone, DS refused point blank to feed himself until quite recently, and even now I help load his spoon half the time, and he is so slow and messy I often end up shovelling it in out of frustration. DD was similar, they get there in the end!

happynewRia · 02/01/2010 22:06

sorry JBM, I assumed you were talking about BF, so while not ignoring you, I thought I couldn't comment. Baggins will feed himself better than DS1 some days, and others I give him a toy or something to occupy him and feed him or he wouldn't bother.

Hope you feel better today jammy. I have felt overwhelmed and weepy today, and have been dreaming again

Calpol all round here tonight. DS1 went off with my parents to see his play after a morning of upset tummy that I put down to nerves. But they came straight home after the play instead of going out for a meal, and my dad had been to buy tinned soup for DS, who was on the sofa wearing my mums cardi, under a fleece blanket with a wheat bag, shivering and burning up. He has gone to bed with a bumper dose of baby calpol (I checked the dose with dsis who knows these things). DS2 had a friend over and I had a lovely natter with her mum while they played rally nicely. (and completely forgot that I was in the middle of defrosting the freezer when she arrived)

Just waiting for DH to come home now, he said the roads were bad after lunch, so they'll be horrible now I bet.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 02/01/2010 22:10

durr, just realised that you probably meant BFing jbm

Good support on here for tandem feeding and feeding when pregnant if that's the case!

Had a great day today . took DS1 shopping, which considering he is a boy wasn't too much of a trauma, then went to Yo Sushi for lunch and then saw Where the Wild Things Are, and had a good laugh together. Neither of us rated the film though; I found it quite depressing and DS wanted to leave halfway through as it is pretty scary and dark a lot of the time. It may even have spoiled my enjoyment of the book

WewishyouaNORTYxmas · 03/01/2010 10:06

Hello

How are you doing Jammy? Sometimes I find the start of the new year to be a trigger for me....hope you're ok x

JBM, I read what you said as solid food feeding. Did you mean BF? My DD reverted a bit after E was born and she mostly feeds herself and then when I've finished feeding him, she says "help please" and I usually relent just for a quiet life.

DD last night : "I don't feel very well daddy......K needs chocolate" . Learing already!!

Sounds like a good day Daisy

Well decorations all down, house all hoovered and dusted and glad its all over and done with.

Just seen a weather forecast for snow and ice all week . I've got to go to London for a meeting on Wednesday and I don't own a warm coat or sensible boots....argh (this is the person who drives everywhere). I'm going to freeze!

Went and bought a new car yesterday

Spose I'd better go and change my name back to its usual

happynewRia · 03/01/2010 14:23

hi norty,

we have snow and ice here, but not enough to keep DH off work. hoping for early closing today.

been a lazy day. DS1 much better after calpol and a good sleep. made spicy lentil and bacon soup for lunch. car wheel fixed, nice to start the year with an unwanted expense

am trying to find a restaurant online, so I can take dsis to lunch the day we go to our brass band concert, I owe her a meal for the indian she treated me to last year. have found 1 italian, but it might be too far a` walk. will have to go and trawl the streets and read menus. bloody backwater!
