Hi everyone

Thats a right PITA Norty.

Sputnik - how did you get on with that diet? Did it fix your thrush issues?

Jammy - there are times when you just have to haul the child up, tuck them under your arm, and get on with the march home. That was one of them! Head down and battle on (and that way you won't notice people staring!)

Is there still time to send cards Ria? Oh good, you've inspired me. I was hoping thinking it was too late.

I thought about taking up knitting, but don't know where to get wool and needles from. I need one of those proper wool shops with a little dusty old lady behind the counter who can help me. Just like the good old days.

I'm officially on holiday (except for doing the cards).

Except I now have to go and play shops. Arse.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 20/12/2009 13:29

foxy....loads and loads of knitting shops in the smoke; have a google.

Alternatively there is a college in your neck of the woods that is running a beginners knitting course from 10th Jan for 10 weeks! If you will still be there then. I'll fb you the details.

I love knitting. It's the new going out dontchaknow.

What about the strictly result last night? We were for Team Cola so very happy. DS1 had me tape the results show, but gets all coy when asked does he want to learn to dance. I suspect he is more interested in scantily clad ladies than the actual dancing

last posting day for 1st class is tomorrow foxy!

Ouch for the bump on the head Ria; what happened? and with so few posts, how did I manage to miss it???

ooops, chicken ready; gtg

Ohforfoxsake · 20/12/2009 19:14

Yes, there are knitting parties. Bitch and Stitch I believe they are called. The new Bookclubs!

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 20/12/2009 22:37

who won?

don't think I mentioned my "accident" on this thread! I was sat on baggins bed sorting through a box of jigsaw pieces and crap off their bedroom floor, and I asked DS2 to put something on his desk. He must have nudged the stepladders that were leaning againt the wardrobe and they fell over and landed on my head. It fecking hurt. It still fecking hurts actually! sadly not lighteight aluminium ladders either, but old fashioned solid wooden things that were confiscated from my Grans house years ago so she didnt have an accident with them. Lucky it was me and not one of the boys really.

my knitting fizzled out. but when I start the post-xmas diet I may start again.

last date for 1st class posting tomorrow I think foxy. Did anyone get a delivery today?

DH had to go to work despite the snow, but he did finish early and was home before we got in from the christingle. He brought a huge plate of roast dinner with him, so that was the boys sorted

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 20/12/2009 23:19

I think you mentioned it on facebook Ria! OUCH. I hope you're OK and aren't cincussed or anything. I slammed the car boot on my head the other day...and actually saw stars!

I'm starting up my own stitch and bitch in the New Year . Some of my toddler group mates are going to come over on a Sunday evening as there are a few of us who knit.

Been wrapping pressies and writing cards today, but had a visit from friends who sort of overstayed their welcome and only me making the DC's dinner and putting it on the table made them leave (and they have their own DC as well ) so it put us behind schedule. But...most of the cards written, all the Scotland parcels wrapped and boxed ready for the courier tomorrow morning (fingers crossed) so I can get out to the PO to post Christmas cards, and nappies for a customer in Harrogate.

bumble has been a little bugger today about feeding. Wanting to feed and then mucking about and biting, shouting at me for it, then refusing to latch on, and then drinking loads of cows milk when given some in a cup. I think he is teething again as he wouldn't eat at lunchtime, but this mucking about feeding is driving me potty. And everyone saying "well he doesn't need it nutirtionally or for his immune system does he?" or "he'll hardly waste away if he doesn't get any"

I have been off chocolate for a few days though; maybe that's what he is protesting baout

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 21/12/2009 00:06

off chocolate, that could be it.

have just remembered someone I forgot to write a card to. (lost my list, had to do it from my address book and memory, which is not great atm). doing presents by courier sounds a good plan. I think DH is taking the boysout in the snow tomorrow, so maybe I can wrap their presents at least and sort out family gifts that DS1 can help with (and work out what I still need to buy) Looking at the weather I probably ought to get a pizza or something in for the big day as it's doubtful that we'll get to my sisters (but DH will still get to work no doubt)

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 21/12/2009 00:13

I sent all the pressies up for less than £8 Ria, where one sis spent £8 on postage, the other has spent £12 and then there's whatever my bro sends. I told them to collect it all together and send by courier next time.

Is DH working Christmas Ria? just realised the time...need bed!

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 21/12/2009 00:43

'fraid so. He will go in on Weds. fo a bit (usually a day off), not sure about christmas eve, but I expect it will be normal hours and then some... christmas day I expect he'll be off before the kids are up until teatime or after. He is off boxing day, working Sunday with lots of prep for shooting partues that are booked for his days off. New Years Eve will be a no-go for me too. His bosses are Scottish... ... ...

baggins shouting, so bed for me too!

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 21/12/2009 10:44

grrr. bloody DH is doing his orders for work.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 21/12/2009 12:12

Hope couriers come and presents all get to where they are meant to be on time!

about DH working Ria. Will you and the boys go to your Mum's?

Am at work today (and tomorrow) and bored . Ah well at least it's warm in here.

trace2 · 21/12/2009 12:59

sorry ria about dh working

hello all my secret santa came thank you sooo much carnt wait to open

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 21/12/2009 22:12

sorry you are stuck at work jammy, but keeping warm on someone elses bill is good

what are you all up to for christmas then? me and the boys and my parents are going to my sisters (weather permitting) and hopefully DH will join us there before teatime. I have just started to dread it (it is always so much more relaxed at my mums...), everyone is coming to us on Boxing Day. I was thinking the other day, although it is fantastic (most of the time[wink) living round the corner from my parents, we miss out on the excitment of going to visit them for special occasions

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 21/12/2009 22:20

Oh well done on painting the ceiling Ria.

We are meant to be going to my parents for Christmas, but with the snow getting to us tonight (had to get out of work early and thankfully DH was off work so picked us up) we are now watching the forecasts and considering staying here instead. So it could be a hasty trip to Sainsburys on Christmas Eve to grab some stilton and sprouts and then home to raid the freezer

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 21/12/2009 22:35

I am planning to buy vastly reduced meat on christmas eve (can I borrow your DH for bargain hunting?) as a back-up plan. Of course there won't be any, but I can hope. DS2 is struggling to keep some sort of illness at bay, DS1 is imagining a sore throat as I type (I think that is because we have to visit the ILs tomorrow), TBH I would be happy with beans on toast or pizza if we are snowed in/preventd from leaving the house by illness, but I suppose I should make an effort (and if it's not needed it will be a nice treat later on when we're back to everyday eating)

Am meant to be polishing furniture and sorting out toys so FC doesn't think we have too many. But am shattered, might head for bed soon as DH is out playing pool (even in this weather - stupidity), he will be late, or incredibly bad tempered because they lost!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 21/12/2009 22:44

We're having a quiet family christmas at home here. The oulaws will put in an appearance at some point, yay (that's gritted teeth, NOT a grin )

Boxing day we're going for a pootle with some friends and their DC, weather permitting after DH and DS1 go to the rhino's game. Sunday I'm taking DS1 to see "Where the Wild Things Are" and a bit unsure about what to expect....how do you make a 90 minute film out of a 20 page kiddy's book?

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 21/12/2009 22:47

I am sure I just read on Yahoo that Tana Ramsey is doing Dancing on Ice. I wonder why (not that she shouldn't, it just seems a strange thing to do when she has a fairly strong career, and Gordon is dismissive of most things "entertainment") Shame it isn't one of the muscly tattooed ones from Boyzone

bedtime. the mess will still be here tomorrow.

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 21/12/2009 22:53

TBH I have not heard of it, film or book, DH is off on the Bank Holiday (probably, these things change), we might go for a trek out on the moors if we can get there and there is nothing falling from the sky. We are going to Knaresborough on NYD for the duck race.

Do you have to feed your ILs, or do they just drop by to see the DCs presents? I am toying with the idea of inviting my parents for present opening, but a) I would have to get dressed, and b) there is a fairly big chance that I won't have finished all the jobs by christmas morning and will have to spent Boxing Day morning madly getting things up to DM standard. Don't know when I'm going to wrap the presents. DH didn't take them sledging today so I had no time on myu own, and they are all such light sleepers, and DS2 is like my shadow ATM!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 21/12/2009 23:14

no, they're getting fed at BIL's house, thankfully. Feeding MIL is too fraught with issues. We got a small turkey crown especially for her last year as she said ( when told we were having lamb) that she doesn't eat red meat...and she ate the fucking lamb and never touched the turkey

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 21/12/2009 23:21

DD is up, with a spotty itchy tummy. Looks like her eczema is flaring up again as her knee pits and elbow pits (is there a proper term for those bits of one's anatomy) have flared up again.

WTWTA is a classic children's book from the 60s (I think) Ria. I hadn't heard of it until we got a copy and some seeds from a friend who went to Chelsea a couple of years ago and brought it back for DS as they had a WTWTA themed garden. It's a bit odd tbh; I'm not sure I like it, but DS1 loves it.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 22/12/2009 06:05

Oooh, I love WTWTA. Hadn't heard of it until DH saw it in Waterstones and said - oooh that's ace we must get that! Was dubious at first but am now converted and Jamlet loves it too. Am about the film though - and the trailer I saw hasn't convinced me.

OK, time to start work . Working at home today because of snow/ice so need to get some done before Jamlet wakes up.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 22/12/2009 06:07

Oh and hope DD's "pits" are OK Daisy. FWIW the backs of my knees were playing up last night. I had v bad eczema as a child (memories of bleeding backs of knees) and only get troubled occasionally now but they were SO itchy last night took an age to get to sleep. Think it's the cold weather.

trace2 · 22/12/2009 19:48

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 22/12/2009 20:48

Have done Trace

Not going to Norfolk tomorrow, but hope to go on Xmas Eve. Sad that means we will probably miss going to look round the shops and at the lights though

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 22/12/2009 23:54

I voted too. DH won't let me have lights on the tree so we just have baubles.

Busy day here. The farmers market was on this morning, so we went there, but our direct route from there said the road was closed so we had to make a long detour. The boys and I had lunch at the outlet centre while DH collected xmas money from his mum (my intention being I would have presents to show them when we went for tea), when DH eventually came back (having taken MIL to the supermarket etc) we went into York. It was manic. I am giving up on manners - especially in GAME and HMV. Sod apologising when it isn't my fault Cue panic buying gifts for DSD and MIL, then back to MILs for tea. Got DSD a voucher for a salon in York, and a scarf and wheat bag for MIL. (had to wrap them at MILs after tea)

sadly I was taken ill on the way home so didn't manage any of the clifton moor shopping I had planned and needed to do. Does Dolmio have MSG in it?

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 23/12/2009 00:00

was up cleaning the bathroom walls before DH and the boys had even flinched this morning, am still way behind with my list though. Am so tempted to cancel boxing day at ours

jammy. will there be plenty of lights to look at when you arrive?
