sounds stressful MPW.

it is incredibly cold and windy here and there have been a couple of flakes of snow. Just had a text from school to say they will text if school has to close for bad weather and to listen to local radio in the morning. I think someone is hoping for an early start to their holidays

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 17/12/2009 12:55

Just had the most stressful journey back from the library ever! Jamlet kicked ogg BIG style when she founf out we were coming home for lunch before going to the children's centre party. Mega tantrum, kicking and screaming, lying on the muddy ground, I did the "we mus go home and have some nice lunch while they get the party ready thing", I did the ignoring thing for a few minutes, but then she just got up and started walking the other way. So I carried her a bit, thinking if I got her away from that junction and on the road to home she would get distracted, but know. I also had a huge bag of heavy library books so carry her was tricky, especially as she kept wriggling, kicking and screaming. Every minute of so I had to put everything down before I dropped her and she would lie there screaming away and then start crawling back the way we'd came, so I would have to pick everything up and go a bit further . Eventually we got home but now my back is agony and because she was in such a state I couldn't go to the shop so nothing for lunch. She fell asleep almost as soon as we sat down though, so I have taken her to bed, but doesn't sound like she is asleep, just chatting to her bears.

I really don't know if I did the right thing. I felt I shouldn't give in and go the way she wanted to go, though it was tempting. But NOTHING would stop her paddy. She must have had a good 10 mins or more with the full on screaming abdabs. I know it really didn't help that she was tired and probably hungry but what else do you DO in a situation like that?

Sorry for that rant

Sputnik · 17/12/2009 13:52

Sounds horrendous Jammy.
I don't go anywhere without the pushchair as backup, for this reason. DS is always lying on the floor, with or without screaming, and he is bloody heavy. Usually because he doesn't want to hold my hand and our rule is hand or pushchair, given his tendency to run off at the drop of a hat. Impossible to carry wriggling toddler + anything more than a handbag. PITA though.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 17/12/2009 14:23

jammy. I think you did the right thing; if you had relented after she had started the paddy, then it sends all the wrong signals, and you were doing the right thing for the right reason. Pity that 2.5 year olds aren't the most reasonable souls in the world!

If we are walking any distance I make sure I have the P&T with me so there is the option of a lockdown if necessary! I also tend to carry sweeties and if all else fails use bribery but I can't stand being the centre of attention for toddler tantrum reasons.

I was lolling at the latest MN development email...basically it said that 2.5 - 3 is the worst age ever!!!!

Waiting in for the post today...parcel was posted 1st class on Tuesday and it isn't here yet . And I just know that as soon as I step out for the school run, it'll arrive and be taken to the delivery office, and it's a customer order that I said I'd deliver on Friday, typically.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 19/12/2009 13:52

heeellllllooooooooooooo; where is everybody?

have you all buggered off to a new thread and not told me or something????

Ohforfoxsake · 19/12/2009 15:29

I'm knocking around.

Just recovering from the shock that I am meant to be at the Panto this afternoon, and was just told that when I rang to check the details for Tuesday. Nice lady at Greenwich got her manager to release the house seats. Dunno what happened, but the prospect of no panto just doesn't bear thinking about.

That's what happens when you start booking Christmas in fucking September!

Cooking sherry anyone? Or is it close enough to Christmas that cracking open the Baileys would be acceptable after 10am?

Ohforfoxsake · 19/12/2009 15:33

Is that really all I have to post? No hello, how are you? How rude of me! So sorry.

I'm going to try to catch up.

Ohforfoxsake · 19/12/2009 16:06

Ahh, Jammy, you just had to get home and address the issues (tiredness and hunger). You didn't really have any options, so don't worry about it, but don't go anywhere without the buggy in future

Daisy, I have no idea what I am waiting for/have ordered anymore. I just wait now...

I seem to have hit a lull. After months of manically doing 'stuff' its all coming into play now and I'm a bit unsure of what to do when there is nothing to do IYSWIM. If I sit still for too long a small child comes to squash me, hence why I don't come here that much anymore.

hello all bet your all busy?

we been to every shoe for chloe some shoes, or boot and was not supporting her ankles , so couldn't buy them tbh it hit home about her problems, and me dh ended up arguing about i should be even trying them on! but i want her to look nice, it gets to me that she still in baby clothes not little girls (toddlers) and with dh still not working we cant afford places like next who do better ones.

sorry for sounding off just feeling a bit crap when really i should be grateful for her being a happy little soul.

Ohforfoxsake · 19/12/2009 16:50

I'm sorry Trace. It must be hard. How is she? How are you and all your family?

trace2 · 19/12/2009 17:15

hi sorry was just moaning ! were ok thanks keeping our fingers crossed she stays out off hospital over christmas , our pead rang us yesterday about her regressing and tried blaming it on her meds.

how are you? are you ready for xmas?

Ohforfoxsake · 19/12/2009 17:18

so where are you at with everything? Sorry, I've not been keeping up to date.

Are you set for Christmas? Funny isn't it, its all such a big palaver, weeks of build up, then over in a day.

I asked DP if I was sad for wanting to take a highlighter pen to the Radio Times. I am very much looking forward to some good telly, the tin of Quality Street resting on my belly, washed down with Baileys.

I've been building up to it for months now!

trace2 · 19/12/2009 17:42

its ok we still have no idea what is wrong with her, genetics think she as some Chromosome 15 deletion, still waiting for tests to come back, plus we know she as seizures , feeding issues, muscle problems and some times speech but on a good day just look like any normal child whos one years old not two, but is quiet bright other wise.

i think you have the right idea tv, chocs and baileys mmmm my idea of luxury. and i love christmas too

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 19/12/2009 18:37

I just gave away a pair of boots in a size 22 trace

Does she not qualify for boots being made for her on the NHS because of the muscle wasting? My brothers DD gets her made, special orthopaedic ones and they look really cute. Might be worth chasing up to see what you are entitled to?

fingers crossed for a hospital free Christmas xx

hey foxy; your festive QS and baileys sounds fab, enjoy ...I am trying to be good because if I eat any more i will explode. I can't stop eating at the minute and people are starting to give me the "is she up the duff or isn't she?" looks

operation lose three stone begins in earnest after Christmas (although by then it will be more like lose four stone )

Ahhhh, Strictly final....woohoo. go Chris!!

Am choked with the cold and feeling like pants. Still a good excuse not to go out in the snow!

trace2 · 19/12/2009 18:44

hi daisy yes she does but barnsleys choice is very limited she as black ones at moment, had pink nubuck in summer but no good for winter! i just want some nice shoes for her!

are you ready and kids excited?

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 19/12/2009 20:05

Aw Trace, sorry about your shoes/boots problem No suggestions I'm afraid.

Thanks Foxy - it was DH's idea not to take the buggy. And to be fair, she has walked that distance (half a mile, so not very far at all - we are trying to get her stamina up, hence the idea of not taking the buggy) loads of times. It was just that she didn't want to go home! When we did get home she had a 1.5 hour nap and then we did the tree.

And just had a lovely pre-Christmas day today I was shocked to wake up and find it was 8.10 . I had to leave the house at 8.30, what a day for Jamlet to sleep in and then sit quietly looking at her book in bed! This afternoon we all went into town (Jamlet in the buggy!) and finished the Christmas shopping [smug] and later some friends came round and joined me and Jamlet for a walk round to look for Christmas lights . I took the buggy but she walked ran all the way! And DH made mulled wine and hot chocolates while we were out so we could all warm up afterwards

Sputnik · 19/12/2009 21:19

Trace sorry to hear about your boot problems, I can totally see where you're coming from. Here's hoping you have a trouble free xmas, Chloe sounds like such a fantastic little girl to keep smiling through all the problems she's had. And you too for coping, she is lucky to have such a freat Mum!

Foxy have you found house then?

Sputnik · 19/12/2009 21:20

Great Mum, even!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 19/12/2009 21:28

Kids are high as kites, I have knitting fatigue and still not finished. I have a deadline to finish a scarf as the courier is coming on Monday so it all needs to be packed up tomorrow night and scarf is only four inches long Also have to finish bumble's longies!

I got me SS pressie yesterday . It wasn't wrapped, and we all love it! The kids think they are fantastic and I have had to wrestle them from all three of them at one point or another. And they gave DH the giggles! What is this fantastic family pleasing present? A pair of knitting needles with little lights in the end so you can knit in the dark . Love them and a wee bar of fancy soap which I'm struggling to convinve the kids isn't actually cake! And not so secret a santa thanks to the reused envelope!!! thanks very much

Sputnik · 19/12/2009 21:32

Lol at knit-in-the-dark needles, what a fab idea! Who needs a light sabre?

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 19/12/2009 21:35

exactly DS1's eyes popped out of his head when he saw them......and had to be reminded that if used as light sabres then DD or bumble's eyes would be popping out of their heads

bumble thinks they are funky drumsticks, and DD just wants to go sit in the cupboard under the stairs with them!

Sputnik · 19/12/2009 22:11

Yes DS would be entranced. Wonder if I am too late to order some for xmas. Off to Google....

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 19/12/2009 23:26

what a fab present (even as an almost non-knitter I am ). Mine came the other day too. In gorgeous wrapping paper that is exciting enough without opening! (I am such a saddo that wrapping paper not designed for children is so appealing)

My bang on the head must have done some good. I wrote my posting cards last night (and ventured out in the snow to post them before bed - postbox at other end of our terrace), also wrote DHs work cards. Not done family/local friends ones yet though... AND, I put some lights up today, ther are to be permanent after xmas though. My Dads little step ladder is quite difficult to manage with hammer, cable clips and light cable though.

Trace. It is hard when DHs not working (fingers crossed here constantly). Hope you et the christmas you are hoping for.

Hi foxy. sounds frantic. I have bought DS1 and his grannie tickets to a play for xmas. His friend is in it (he has got an agent apparently)

trace2 · 20/12/2009 08:39

ok i got over it !! dh is thinking of teaching but needs training he as a degree but of business and management, big difference to accounts .

daisy they sound great i have been thinking of starting knitting, i went to a wool shop near me and asked her if she sold leg warmer as chloe wont wear foot muffs and still in buggy lots due to her problems, well anyway she said measure her legs i will knit some so am hoping its this week.

ria i love well wrapped prezzis too ,

hi every one else!

WewishyouaNORTYxmas · 20/12/2009 10:53
