Hello

Nice to see you Foxy....hows the wedding plans coming along?

Thanks Fairy for telling me about the dummies. We are still working towards it and telling her about it. And I've got her a Woody and Jessie which she will not want to give back so fingers crossed all goes well.

We do the same as you with cups Daisy....open at the table and the cups with the attached straw (IYKWIM) for wandering around with.

We went here yesterday. It was DD's first trip on a train and she loved it. Cleverly, Show me Show me yesterday morning was all about trains, which put her in the mood. She had such a grin on her face and was SO gobsmacked when Santa said how pleased he was she was eating all her dinner . This is what Christmas is all about

Where are the Xmas smileys?

Had to put my Xmas tree on a table and barricade it in the end. Bloody DS. Must be a boy thing . I bought this beautiful glass bauble from M&P with My 1st Christmas 2009 on and he smashed it to smithereens . Little sod. Luckily I got a picture of it beforehand.

Went to a Xmas singalong at nursery on Friday and all the kids were so embarrassed at their parents being there, the only ones that sang were the staff . My DD didn't lift her eyes off the floor and DS was crawling over to everyone trying to nick their instruments

Hiya Foxy, yes tree up since last week here and shopping done so ready for going to UK next sunday.
Good luck with the dummy Norty. I'm sure it'll be fine and I think you are doing the right thing with preparing her, I always found that key to easy transitions.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 13/12/2009 21:19

Hello all. Back from visiting my Dad. He's rather better, though quite tired. He has been told to take it easy for a while, but they want him to go back to the hospital soon to do a session on the treadmill while wired up for ECG, and they also want him to have a 48 hour ECG at some point soon. When all those tests are done they can advise whether or not he is suitable for a catheter-based procedure to keep the heartbeat under control or whether he has to have beta blockers for the rest of his life.

Sorry I missed you Foxy - come back soon!

OK, got stamps to buy, cards to post, some presents left to buy, then presents to wrap and some to post, xmas cake to decorate, ham to cook, sausage pies to make, decorations to put up, and biscuits to make by this time next week. Also am giving blood (hopefully), having work xmas do, haircut, nursery xmas party, 2 parties at the children's centre a reflexology session and lunch at Heston Blumenthal's pub. Phew!!

And I suspect we will be watching "The Snowman" a few times - showed it to Jamlet on Friday afternoon, and 1st thing she wanted when we got in tonight (after FAR too long in the car thanks to bloody M25 being partly closed ) was to watch it.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 13/12/2009 21:32

Hello lovely foxy

I did the drunken neighbour thing at a Pampered Chef party last night , as me and the host were the only ones drinking the hot winter Pimms as well as copius amounts of red wine. I staggered home at almost midnight and then had to catch up with Strictly and Casualty and kept on drinking until 2am when I staggered to bed and tried to grope DH (must have been VERY drunk) but he shrugged me off...Never let it be said that I don't make the first move

Rialentless · 13/12/2009 21:39

LOL daisy.

at jamlet. Glad things are looking OK for your dad jammy.

hi foxy, norty and sputnik.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 13/12/2009 22:18

Who is Tim Allen?

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 13/12/2009 22:34

Here Ria

Rialentless · 13/12/2009 23:23

do any of you use fleecy sleepsuits for your LOs? where can I get one for baggins? He is quite large...

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 14/12/2009 00:16

Try TKMaxx or Primark Ria. Also Sainsbury's had them, but not sure they had bigger sizes.

I've never used tham as I worry about them being too warm.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 14/12/2009 00:22

or ebay which shows some from mothercare amongst other places.

WewishyouaNORTYxmas · 14/12/2009 12:20

Is that the same person who is Buzz Lightyear then Daisy?

Rialentless · 14/12/2009 15:32

thanks. xmas gift from grannie and grandad - he doesn't like being under the covers, not so much of a problem in the house, but I thought they would be good for camping/caravan holidays.

I didn't know Tim Allen was Buzz, is Tom Hanks the cowboy then? Haven't watched that film for ages (thankfully, DS1 used to have it on constantly. The nasty boy from next door reminds me of DH's DS)

Just put a 2ft6 mattress on baggins bed (a full size was too big for the frame), and a nice "new" tractor duvet cover on. It looks lovely. Now all I have to do is send one of those talking Santa emails and tell baggins and DS2 that FC wants them to sleep in their own beds, oh and I have DS2s top bunk, and DS1s bunk to make up, which makes me want to cry...

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 14/12/2009 22:05

I had no idea Tim Allen was Buzz! you learn something new everyday, thanks norty

Bed sounds fab Ria....DD has started having a hissy fit about bedtime . Starts with "I haven't had my 3/8/9 (delete as applicable) minutes" and ends with "blue bear, want blue bear" or "daddy hanky, need a daddy hanky" (her latest comfort thing; it's a different thing every week) and much sobbing from DH and I her.

had a fabby day today though; put some outdoor lights on the conifer we planted over three years ago in memory of my lost babies (it's finally big enough ), pimped the dragon tree in the hallway with little LED lights, put up the main tree and decorated it with DD and DS1 (whilst keeping my foot on bumble's head to keep him away from it!!) hoovered all the downstairs, went to gym minis, did some shopping AND managed to write my presentation for tomorrow (1st group nappy demo

We listened to my new Christmas CD (lots of cool stuff on it; none of your slade or Sir Cliff here) whilst decorating the tree and waiting in the dark for DH to come home for the official unveiling of the outside lights as he pulled up outside, then revealing the indoor lights one at a time. Great fun, but DS1 had us ready and waiting in the dark 20 minutes before DH got home.

and I've just had a lovely (gluten free) mince pie and some wine so am feeling utterly festive now

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 15/12/2009 11:58

For a moment there Daisy I thought you had hung DS1 and DD on the tree! ("put up the main tree and decorated it with DD and DS1")

I'm not allowed to take Jamlet to our work Christmas lunch buffet . It's at 1pm tomorrow and I have to pick her up from nursery by 1pm so I asked if I could bring her in for a little bit but they said no.

She is officially in love with the Snowman though, we had to watch it again last night - in preference to Waybuloo which is her absolute favourite TV programme EVER!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 15/12/2009 20:40

jammy. I was tempted, I must admit

That's a shame about your lunch and jamlet; boo hiss to your work for saying No. Is there anyone else who can collect her this once?

Feeling like shit. I was trying to find bus timetables earlier for a friend who is coming over on Monday and was aware that bumble and DD had climbed on the back of the sofa and onto the windowsill (his latest "trick" )....took my eye off them for a bit and next thing I knew, bumble fell backwards and scraped the side of his head behind his ear on the corner of the chest that the tree is on . It's broken the skin and he has a fecking great egg . I didn't see him fall, so not sure how full on he hit the thing, but he had stopped crying after a few minutes and seemed OK and was even trying to get back up there another five times before bedtime. Still feel like shite though

Sputnik · 15/12/2009 21:37

Yes ideal solution to toddler + xmas tree problems: tie them to the tree.
Glad Bumble survived, sounds like he is planning a career as a stunt man, like my DS.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 15/12/2009 21:44

I've just ordered these for DD's christmas. My friend's DS has a pair and I had to prise her out of them screaming this afternoon! DD moaning because she has a pair of slippers, and the fact that she wont wear them as they make her "foots sore" means nothing to him. men.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 15/12/2009 22:15

Cool slippers. And shame about Bumble, hope he's OK.

Just got all the stuff that needs posting ready to post - 9 parcels and a pile of cards. So that's what I'll be doing instead of nibbling canapes at work tomorrow lunchtime.

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 15/12/2009 22:41

pah to your work jammy.

daisy, baggins is very keen on that kind of caper too. he is addicted to rescue remedy pastille your festivities sound good.

busy few days here. On Saturday Dsis took the boys with her DCs to a lantern making workshop (whilst baggins and I shopped did manic walking from her house round town and back again buying black items of clothing), then on Sunday we went with her to a carol service involving all the schools from her town in the big church, then took part in the lantern-lit parade to the dickensian christmas festival ... leaving me 20 minutes to drive home and get DS1 to a carol concert at my favourite local church with the school choir . "day off" yesterday, but my aunts funeral today, DH raced off to DS2s play, then I went to DS1s choir concert at school tonight with my mum. it was lovely

just watching "2 pints..." it seems ever such a tad smuttier than it used to be. Or maybe I'm getting old?

WewishyouaNORTYxmas · 16/12/2009 10:58

Hope today goes ok ria

MakkaPakkasWilly · 16/12/2009 12:18

Afternoon all!

Long time no speak! I have caught up a little bit... been go go go here.

Christmas shopping bought and wrapped, took DS2 to work lunch yesterday. Had to leave after a couple of hours as he got grouchy.

DS1 is all grown up now and in his big bed, a 3ft mid sleeper. He loves it, it has a desk underneath. PITA to change the sheets though. Can't believe how grown up he is. He's a little sod but very clever. Not clever enough to shit in a potty though, the git.

DS2 has been under paediatrician care for some time as he has difficulties eating but is now being introduced to solids which is helping a teeny bit. He is so different to DS1, he is all giggles. Thankfully he sleeps 8-8 since he was 5 weeks old (illness permitting) so can't complain there.

Anyway I hope you are all well and have a wonderful Christmas and New Year - we are off to Center Parcs next week which is going to be interesting... fitting 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 dog, 2 bikes, luggage, a bike trailer, a double pram, a weeks worth of food and booze and 4 large boxes of christmas presents into the car.

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 16/12/2009 22:01

Hi MPW! Glad all is well with you and that DS2 is OK. DS1 does sound grown up. Baggins is growing up too quick (but not enough to sleep in his own bed all night or use the potty). How was the IL visit? Hope you have a lovely time at Center Parcs, am a bit (but not of the organisational skills required). Enjoy!

DS2s play was lovely, even though his part was to stand with his back to the audience and be a door He knew all the words to the songs though

DH has been for an MRI scan today (appt 5pm, but he went warly to go into York to xmas shop, got a text at 7.10pm to say he hadn't been in yet... he is now stuck in traffic as there has been an accident)

Did I say the funeral went well? though I have discovered that even holding a cup of tea does not excuse you from hugging people you have never hugged before in your life (I thought it would be a good idea, but I nearly spilt it down my cousins jacket), some vbery wobbly moments, but I did not make a hideous snort/squeak noise during the silence! My aunts granddaughter had written a poem that the minister read[sad
]. DH has got tomorrow lunchtime off so I can go to the internment too (which will annoy my cousins wife as she hates me. My aunt would approve I think) Have decided I would like background music while the readings are going on at my funeral, then people can sniff away as much as they like without worrying about people hearing them.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 16/12/2009 23:36

Ria, glad things went as well as they can.

Hey fury...have a great holiday. We did Christmas away when DD was a baby....we ended up taking two cars!!!! good Luck

gloRiaInExcelsisDeo · 17/12/2009 00:25

hey daisy

DH is home finally and is making me watch Spooks (which everyone - apart from DH it seems - knows I hate) Bedtime soon I think.

Why isn't there another week before christmas?

MakkaPakkasWilly · 17/12/2009 08:43

we don't have 2 cars to it had better not come to that ;)

The IL visit was incredible. 2 more mental people I have never met. She has had her family believe for the last 20 years that she has epilepsy, MS and diabetes, and sleep apnea (complete with CPAP machine).

Sherlock here though suspected not and did some research and told DH that I didn't think she had any of the above, and was in fact a hypochondriac, and wondered why her GP hadn't spotted it and continued to medicate her heavily for illnesses she doesn't have.

I know I sound mean.

But I am also right.

She went back to Aus and had what she believed was a 'mini stroke', which was in fact an anxiety attack, and she is now in a psych ward and being told that all illnesses are in her head.
