Ria, it might just be the time of year - I have taken cross stitch to a friends when trying to get it done in time to give for Christmas.

I might have just made a £15 mistake Ordered a charity advent calender for a friend whose BD is Dec 2nd. I assumed it would be an electronic calender as the site said that all gifts other than the bottles of olive oil could be send as an ecard. (The site does gifts of the "buy a goat for a starving family" type thing.) But all there was in the gift certificate they sent for me to forward on to my friend was a (blurred) photo of the calender - no link to the website or anything. So I have emailed them to ask and fingers crossed.

Rialentless · 22/11/2009 21:38

jammy. hope it works out OK. Hope you get some sleep daisy.

I had a feeling I was being U. Maybe I should have dug mine out too and joined in, that is what I will do next time (although though I have a and feeling there probably wont be a next time, not without the kids anyway)

LackaDAISYcal · 22/11/2009 21:49

ouch jammy! I know that the distance selling regs allow you to change your mind within 7 days. If it's a legitimate site that is . Did you pay with a credit card or a debit card? I'm sure there is protection if using a credit card.

Right, I am orf to bed....

pleeeeeeeeeese children; let us sleep

Rialentless · 22/11/2009 23:03

good luck daisy!

Rialentless · 22/11/2009 23:24

daisy - have you tried freecycle for a sewing machine? there's loads of asks on ours atm. worth a try?

JammyOLantern · 23/11/2009 12:08

Hoorah! They are letting me transfer the money to another gift and will make the website clearer So my friend is getting 3 months of a dog's retirement for her birthday. (She is a dog lover and her DH is a vet so they should approve, I hope!)

And I am currently the highest bidder on a set of 3 stairgates on ebay. Fingers crossed.

Daisy - hope you got some sleep.

JammyOLantern · 23/11/2009 19:46

I am officially ill. Too ill to give blood at least (sore throat and green snot!)

I won a handbag and purse in a work raffle for Children in Need. I don't much like them though, so if anyone wants a black leather handbag or brown purse FFP let me know - I can send pics if you want a nose first.

LackaDAISYcal · 23/11/2009 22:39

sorry for the green snot and sore throat jammy . I've had the most horrendous throat/mouth thing going on for over a week and a half, but it's nearly back to normal today thankfully. Still have hideous swollen glands/earache, but the feeling of my mouth being raw and hyper sensitive is gone. Was the weirdest feeling ever; like I had no saliva and everything was raw and sore. I was worried about it, but am reassured as my best mate now has it

Norty, love your new profile pic....but what happened to our babies???

I'm happy to do secret santa, but I fear that A) there isn't enough of us and B) we've left it a bit late to organise.

LackaDAISYcal · 23/11/2009 22:42

oooh, and I had a haircut. Took advantage of DH being off, left him with all 3 kids as DS1 has the lurgy now, and swanned off for about four hours this afternoon. After getting my hair done I just wandered round the shops aimlessly

Hair is an inverted bob, apparently

reet gtg, DC slept till 6am last night, but I don't want to rest on my laurels and assume it'll happen again tonight!!!!

justbeme · 23/11/2009 22:47

Evening all!
Popping in quickly to catch up.
Yes where have our little babies gone indeed?

Am busy organising my new kitchen - saved about £550 after a couple of phone calls this afternoon - just shows you its good to shop around!.

Anyone heard from Foxy/Bumper/Holly?

Sputnik · 23/11/2009 22:51

Glad things loking up for you Daisy, you deserved a break

Sputnik · 23/11/2009 22:56

Hi JBM. Definitely good to shop around, we saved 25-30% off most of our appliances in the end, as well as 15% of the kitchen by DH going crazy and getting the whole thing one day they were doing 15% off everything.

Foxy is around every so often, Bumper is occasionally spotted on the boards, Holly I reckon you have to look for her on Facebook, shame really but I'm not about to much myself either.

Sputnik · 23/11/2009 22:59

And my new house is fine, thanks for asking, just that we still need a bit of furiture but have totally and utterly run out of money. Oh well.
Its pretty small but on the other hand easy to keep tidy.

trace2 · 24/11/2009 10:00

morning all!

jammy sorry your ill there seams to be loads of horrible bugs around at the moment!

Sputnik glad you have settled in.

JBM good on you saving so much.

daisy yes glad you feeling better and need pics on hair cut, i really need my doing just can not be arsed,

as for ss i would love to join in too if we do one?

JammyOLantern · 24/11/2009 12:16

Nice to see you all, JBM, Sputnk and Trace

Hope Chloe's OK Trace and yes there are a lot of bugs. Glad you're settling in Sputnik - hope you get furniture sorted soon.

If you'll organise it Daisy, I'll be in for SS. but we need to get it going or we WILL be too late.

And photos please, I am intrigued by inverted bob.

Rialentless · 24/11/2009 16:51

haircut sounds good daisy. I had mine trimmed last week and am more Juliet Binoche than Jo Brand on a bad hair day now. I think my hairdresser is worried I'm going to keep going more often than once a year

hi trace, JBM & Sputnik. I am happy to organise SS if you like. FB me before Sunday night if you're in, and I can email you your giftee on Monday. We should be able to manage it if we work to the last posting date. Shall we say homemade or budget of a fiver gift? (sorry, no bloody pound sign on this laptop!) Is the SS "gift preferences" thread still retrievable? Or you could note any allergies or absolute hates in your email to me and I can forward them to your gifter?

If you don't want me to do it please say!!!

JammyOLantern · 25/11/2009 21:09

You can be the SS organiser Ria!!! Thank you

LittleMissNorty · 25/11/2009 21:25

god I'm really shit at keeping up-to-date atm

So Daisy, we have a vid of DS2 walking (lovely) but where is the pic of the hair-do???

Getting mine cut and coloured tomorrow pre starting work next week.....beginning to panic about how I am going to fit everything in. Had to go out and spend a fortune on new clothes (in a bigger size ) in an effort to look a little smart. I will look odd not in jeans and shapless T-shirts (covered in sick) and with a bit of slap on!

DS had lunch at nursery today on his own and whilst having a sleep in his buggy whilst DH and I ate lunch in a pub had a coughing fit which culminated in a MASSIVE puking session with me, table, floor and his own clothes COVERED in phlegm and puke....put a few punters off their lunch I think. Poor little love.

Went to the doctors (no problems getting an emergency appointment in my new doctors surgery when a woman came in and collapsed in a heap at reception, so the doctor was running quite late! (woman was ok after a lay-down and a cuppa). Poor DS has got a bronhcitis and is on ABs, calpol and simple linctus.

God what a day!

Hope you are feeling better Jammy / Daisy and hello to everyone else

Not sure I should do SS as I'm bound to be very late and don't want to upset anyone. But if I am needed for numbers, then shout.

Oh my local outlet centre has just opened a Mamas and papas shop....I'm so glad I'm not having any more babies....I'd be bankrupt!

LackaDAISYcal · 25/11/2009 21:50

I took some pics last night and can't find the bloody camera now! I literally took the pics, stood up, got the lead for the camera and then couldn't pick the camera up again. Fecked if I know where it has disappeared to!!

I'll join in with Secret Santa...I have an idea for a gift already! Ria, how about sending all the "old guard" a message on FB and see who wants to be involved?

Sorry to hear about E, Norty; I hope he is better soon.]

I'm too busy knitting to post, but am reading...am doing scarves for everyone for Crimbo and also have a few other projects on the go, and have borrowed a friend's sewing machine to have a play with it. That's definately forafter the DC are in bed.

bumble is still being a nightmareat nights; but is teething this week . His second lot of bottomteeth are in though so hopefully that'll be it over with for a bit. He is a clever spud with his tottering; the climbing on everything I'mnot so sure about though

Apols for typing, space key is playing wonkey donkey intermittently.

going for a two hour relaxation class at the Children's Centre tomorrow; they said there was no childcare so Icouldn't do it,but they called today and said there is going to be limited childcareavailable and was Iinterested...I bit their arm off before they offered it to someone esle. they are apparentlygoing to takethe kids into the schoolnursery for the duration; DD will be beyond herself with excitement at that!!

justbeme · 25/11/2009 22:07

Hope DS is better soon Norty.

Had my Nuchal scan today - so I'm out of the closet!! 13.5 weeks! Fingers crossed.!

LittleMissNorty · 25/11/2009 22:13

Oh WOW....congratulations

Sputnik · 25/11/2009 22:21

justbeme · 25/11/2009 22:26

Still feeling abit icky though.

Sputnik · 25/11/2009 22:31

Very exciting!
Is that July then? My maths is not up to much this time of night!
3 year gap is great IME.

JammyOLantern · 25/11/2009 22:37

Congratulations JBM!!!

Good lcuk for work and hope E is better soon norty.

Am shattered after walking 6.5 miles this afternoon. But was lovely to see my friend who I've not seen since April, and Jamlet enjoyed playing with her DS.
