Aw jammy, sorry jamlets test wasn't as conclusive as it could have been and I hope you can try to not worry too much until the next test.

Lol at "Oh FFS mother..." though.

I know some DC the same age as ours that don't speak much at all either and their parents are pretty relaxed about it.

Still hideous on the sleeping front here. Took two hours to re-settle bumble after he woke at 3am last night, and then an hour for him to settle for his nap this morning. Reeeeeaaaaaalllllly struggling with the crying

and the tiredness

and the whingeyness of DD

and the whingeyness of DS1

and my weight (tried on some clothes today and noticed in the mirror that I have someone else's belly )

and my messy house

gah, I'm such a bloody misery at the minute.

Will come back when I'm feeling less curmudgeonly

Rialentless · 19/11/2009 22:50

snap daisy. I have just sent a very whingey email to my friend. Not sure what came over me. I am really struggling this week too. I had made a pretty good impression on some of the mess last week and over the weekend, and this week it's gone to pot again (and I aren't even Mnetting all day, I don't know why I can't achieve anything). The kids are annoying and I am fat.I haven't even managed my Thursday catch-up after DH has been home for 3 days and done sod all but have baths and drink coffee.

LackaDAISYcal · 19/11/2009 22:50

just a thought jammy; are the nursery staff giving her the opportunity to talk? if she says "yeah" are they just asking her questions that need a yes/no response? ie "would you like some juice?" rather than "what would you like to drink?"

sorry if that's stating the obvious Also, does she "chatter" away to herself when playing on her own? I wouldn't think that communicating with the other children is such an issue at this age, as they are still at an age where they play alongside other toddlers rather than with them. DD certainly doesn't communicate with other children at any of the groups we go to, other than to say "That's mine"

ooops, I'm not here, am I?

Rialentless · 19/11/2009 22:56

I see Jammy, she seems very young for the nursery to be giving that kind of report though, development being still very individual at this age IMO. I didn't even realise nurseries had parents evenings. But I know nothing of nurseries, no doubt it was all different when DS1 used to go. DHs DN is 3/4, not sure which, and he hardly says anything (even prompting MIL to quiz me about it, but I think that's cos she wanted me to say something nasty about BILs XGF). Baggins was late speaking compared to the other 2, but his current thing is singing the theme tune to Dad's Army

Rialentless · 19/11/2009 22:59

good points there from daisy the invisible mystery poster

what I meant with my garbled nonsense is that they come on in leaps and bounds when the time is right for them.

LackaDAISYcal · 19/11/2009 23:02

Ria

Right I must go to bed incase we have another night of it here.....

Praying to to gods of infant sleep and chattering....and stopping singing Dad's Army

Rialentless · 19/11/2009 23:12

LOL, and the god of keeping the pweak-willed person on the dietout of the bread bin/biscuit tin...

DS2 awake and scared of the wind

lucky me!

JammyOLantern · 20/11/2009 02:52

Nursery say they do all they can to encourage her. And I'm much less stressed than I was about it. I don't care if she is behind most of her peers (and I agree that she's not alone, there are others with similar dis-inclination to chatter) as long as there are some signs of progress. Also, knowing that she says that much less at nursery helps, as that explains their concerns. And I also thought it was quite normal to just play alongside others at this age, rather than having full on interaction. Anyway, as I said I am much less stressed so I will try to shut up about it

Another cold, another sleepless night [sigh]. Breathing OK, but so bunged up in the nose I woke really thirsty from breathing by mouth and with sore throat beginning And can feel the nerves building up re counselling session tonight.

JammyOLantern · 20/11/2009 09:18

Anyone want to borrow a 2 year old? Short and long term loans considered

Rialentless · 20/11/2009 19:25

hope your session went well jammy. I'll borrow your DD, but I maybe wouldn't give her back

have to go out shortly to collect DS1 from youth group and my Dad is away so I have to drag the other 2 out walking in the dark, think I might pop back to the shop and buy the treats I resisted when I went in for eggs after dropping him off.

LackaDAISYcal · 20/11/2009 23:53

Jammy, I hope the session went as well as these things go! I remember after my sessions feeling like I had been chewed up and spat out again, so I hope you're doing OK

I'll take jamlet off your hands for a bit...in exchange for my DD AND the bumble . I know I shouldn't joke about it as you are obviously, and rightly, concerned but after an afternoon with my DD you'll be running screaming for the hills shouting "pleeeeeaaaaaase just BE QUIET".

however, I have discovered a new strategy for getting her to eat. Her dinner was a bit hot tonight and she was wondering why. So I explained that there was a tiny little thing in the food called a molecule that got excited when you heated him up, then he got the molecule next to him excited, and him the next one....until they were all really excited and hot and jumping up and down shouting "eat me, eat me". then I had her listen to her bowl of spag bol to hear them.....and she ate the bloody lot, AND for the first time in her two and a nearly half years asked for seconds . Sometimes, I am just a shit hot parent

Of course I am waiting for tomorrow when she wants me to heat up her breakfast cereal and yogurt so she can hear the molecules

been soooooo busy today. Doing a table sale tomorrow and have actually ironed the clothes we are selling, and cleared out loads and loads and loads of stuff. DS1 has cleared out lots of toys he doesn't play with any more (mostly Power Rangers; oh changred days indeed!!!). Unfortunately the sale is only on for two hours but we have enough stuff to do a full day's car boot sale!

and Ria, this will tickle you; we have been taping the JAmes MAy programme for DS1 and he is now convinced that JM is his new best friend...and has built one airfix model already and wants a scalextric for Christams

Rialentless · 21/11/2009 00:37

shit hot parenting all round daisy. DS1 is learning to say "bloody hell" properly! and is very keen on meccano... hjis new thing this week is the Darling Buds Ds2 likes it too. DS1 was of the JM's Dad's Army tshirt.

have given up on the sodding cake (DH promised to make a birthday cake for the little girl at work, but is too busy, so guess who is doing it? Except am pissed off with it - since about 10.30 - so will have it to finish tomorrow I have so much other stuff to do,I am a bit cross with him for dropping iton me)

do you think P Andre wrote that song about "her"? sad if he did.

JammyOLantern · 21/11/2009 01:22

Thanks ladies, it was OK. Yes I did feel quite emotional afterwards, I'd discussed some quite personnal stuff. But I did feel a bit stronger too.

Not feeling strong at the moment though. All bunged up and snuffly and DH complaining he can't sleep, so I've ended up coming downstairs so one of us gets some rest at least. Am a bit but I'm fairly good at kipping on the sofa and there is some sense in it, and I will feel ultra justified when I go for a nap tomorrow. (Which I was planning on doing anyway but he needn't know that!)

I'm at a table top sale tomorrow too - but as a buyer. Hopefully only a quick in-and-out visit to check if there are any stair gates for sale. But I expect I'll have a quick glance round for any bargains, but promise I will be a restrained buyer

Shit-hot parenting indeed Daisy Jamlet is quite funny when she blows on her food if it is too hot.

OK, I'm off to curl up on the sofa now. Night all.

LackaDAISYcal · 21/11/2009 19:03

gah jammy; I have just sold a stairgate!!

We did well; nearly £100 sold, even with our bargain basement pricing structure! DS1 was disappointed as his Pwoer Rangers stuff didn't sell well at all, but it was mostly pregnant women and those with little babies in tow. I did a swap with my next door neighbour as well, and got a beautiful red velvet party dress with chenille bolero cardi for DD for a little pac a mac and a pair of Gap dungarees . DD loves it, and it's quite long so we should get two winter seasons out of it!

Am absolutely on my knees with tiredness though; DS1 was up at 4am playing with lego, then Dd up at 4.30 with a nightmare, then bumble at 5 for a feed. At which point, DS1 was again found playing in his room, and DD had a screaming hissy fit as we turfed her back to her own bed so I could feed bumble.

DH is on his knees the poor man; he has done most of the getting up at 5 so I'm giving him the lie in tomorrow.

argh, gtg; paperwork to sort out as I can't find the parents' group cheque book.

JammyOLantern · 21/11/2009 19:37

Well done Daisy

Well, no stair gates to be had And we asked at a charity shop this afternoon to be told they aren't aloowed to sell them. So looks like it ebay for us. We need 2, one for each set of grandparents so don't really want to be paying new prices. I did get a box of duplo this morning though, with a play dough set thrown in for free as a sweetener because I ummed and aahed over the price

Went to a lovely gift place this afternoon for some christmas shopping. They had a BIG sign at the door asking parents to stop their LOs touching things and that breakages MUST be paid for. Well, we tried, but she still tore the cardboard wrapper on a gardening gift set while were comparing jars of chutney . I meekly took her to the till and apologised and said if they needed us to pay for it then of course we would but... And he said he would let me off for my honesty (TBH it only tore along a fold, so I reckon with a little sellotape and perhaps 50p off they could sell it anyway.)

LackaDAISYcal · 21/11/2009 20:36

jammy, do your children's centre not have safety equipment? Ours will provide and fit it for you I'm sure.

Worth asking next time you are there!

Alternatively ASDA usually sell Lindam ones pretty cheaply.

JammyOLantern · 22/11/2009 11:45

I don't think they do Daisy.

Miserable wet day here I'm feeling cabin-feverish. We might make it out to the garden centre after lunch but otherwise it is an indoor day So we have played with play dough a lot this morning, and I have made up another batch (bright pink, or "inner labia pink" as DH put it ) so we have some colour choice. We have had hot chocolates and read books and played games, and I have just helped DH cut his hair. I'm thoroughly bored so hope we do get out for a bit later.

LackaDAISYcal · 22/11/2009 12:29

pmsl at your DH jammy; he is a strange one at times

I hope you manage to get out and about inspite of the weather.

We were going to go to the Winter Wonderland place to ice skate and see Sant today, but bumble has diahorrea and DS1 is spiking a temp of 40 and coughing and snuffling, so that's off.

Another night from hell here and I've had half an hours kip since 3am ; not sure how much more of this I can take, to be honest...I doo love my sleep. I'm going to bed at 10 tonight so I will at least get a few hours unbroken before the onslaught begins.

JammyOLantern · 22/11/2009 12:59

Oh and ~Happy Birthday Norty!!

Brightening up here so will probably get out Hope you get some sleep soon Daisy and the DC get better soon.

LackaDAISYcal · 22/11/2009 13:10

Ooooh, Happy Birthday Norty . Hope you're having a lovely day and are being spoiled.

I'm off for a haircut tomorrow for a bit of pampering. It hasn't been cut since May

LittleMissNorty · 22/11/2009 17:34

Thanks for the birthday wishes.....had a lovely day and about to do chocolate cake and candles with DCs

This morning DD climbed on top of me in bed and said "Happy birthday mummy, I love you THIS much"..... It was lovely!

Then she turned back into a miserable 2 year old!

Sounds like the house of the lurgy at your place Daisy!

Glad counselling was OK Jammy....it does do the power of good IME.

Rialentless · 22/11/2009 19:20

happy birthday norty.

been a long weekend here. had to help DH finish the cake yesterday, and then tidy the house for friends coming over. Also took the boys to a karaoke birthday party () at the place DH works (wasn't going to go as was feeling really ill, but it's a good thing I did as DS2 and baggins didn't get off my knee for half an hour) Managed to get baggins to sleep before friends came over, and DS1 and 2 mostly stayed upstairs as requested. It was strange without any DCs annoying us there. (apparently they might as well have brought theirs though as they were still up when friends went home at midnight at least mine were asleep). It was a weird evening though, OK, but not the best time we've had. ANd I know I have no right to be , but one of them brought their sewing to do while we chatted. At least with feeling ill I didn't drink much.

Am currently experimenting, to see if I am allergic to pringles. SO far I have a killer headache, but have had a headache since after lunch.

went to church too, didn't have a clue what it was about, but I fully embraced the boys going off to do the craft activity with the chruch "grannies"

did we decide about SS?

Rialentless · 22/11/2009 19:30

who has a Wii fit? are they any good?

JammyOLantern · 22/11/2009 19:54

I was wondering about SS too Ria.

LackaDAISYcal · 22/11/2009 20:47

now I hadn't thought about taking my knitting out and about with me Ria; if I am going to sell my woolies commercially, then that would be useful as it's quite time consuming

I'm borrowing a friend's sewing machine tomorrow to have a bit of an experiment making my own fleece soakers and maybe even a few nappies; I'm definately going to make some for DD for her dollies though. I want a sewing machine for Christmas and DH is being curmudgeonly about it. Fairy nuff since the guitar I desperately wanted is sitting lost in the corner, as is the Wii from last year. I just feel that I should be able to sew though and have a cupcakeandbunting view of me sewing happily while my children frolic happily in the background.

birthday sounds lovely Norty.

I started typing this about an hour ago! My brain is frazzled and I can't concentrate on TV and typing at the same time...so am watching Antiques Roadshow and then getting some sleep while the getting is good.
