nice one jammy

also love Mungo, makes me think of Mary Wesley. (That is a good thing BTW)

Been to Leeds today. Took an age as DH had 5 x-rays. He has not one, but 2 infections in the bone of his shoulder joint. Treatment is either nothing, or major major surgery. Next appointment to find out is in January. Will try to make time for a meetup daisy.

sorry for poorly DCs and mummies. Hi sputnik.

JammyOLantern · 17/11/2009 22:40

Oh Ria about DH's shoulder.

Rialentless · 17/11/2009 23:56

note to self. when feeling incredibly disillusioned with life, do not drink wine and watch Shirley Valentine. Then do not spend most of the next day plotting a similar adventure/escape until DH snaps out of it and starts speaking to you again. And then do not watch the end of the film while he is asleep in the chair with his mouth open...

Rialentless · 18/11/2009 09:55

bloody DH.

FrazzledFairyFay · 18/11/2009 10:32

Ria

LackaDAISYcal · 18/11/2009 14:40

Oh dear Ria; sounds rough at the minute. Horrible news about DH's shoulder; maybe that's what's making him curmudgeonly at the minute?

I am soooooo tired. bumble up for the third morning in a row at 4.30 and then refusing to go back in his cot. I'm wondering is he is cold and that's what's waking him? Will try another layer under his sleepsuit tonight and a blanket. But, our tinkle bunny sleepytime thing arrived today (we left it on holiday) so maybe he will help bumble drift back off to sleep again? or is 3 weeks too long for a baby to remember something?

lol, he is nodding along with the titifers on ITNG

TheNattyTheHippy · 18/11/2009 15:28

hello all

im not dead..
well yet!

charlie is hard work and ive not been able to do much but fb.
nothing much happened here, except tom starting nursery, postal strikes meaning i lost loads of post and parcels, charlie becoming the incredible hulk (6-9 month babygrows) usual fighting with DH about housework and how useless he is.

so what have i missed?

JammyOLantern · 18/11/2009 16:26

Ria.

Hi Natty.

Jamlet went to nursery as Meg from Meg & Mog in the end. Photos on FB.

Evening!
Has been quite hasnt it?
Have ordered a new kitchen. Does anyone have a normal sized oven with built in grill?
I was thinking of getting 2 ovens side by side and using one for a grill and then at Xmas etc I'd have extra space.
2 People have said to me that the grill won't work as well as a seperate grill.
Any thoughts?? Or shall I post it as a new thread?

Rialentless · 18/11/2009 20:48

Hi JBM. I don't think my Mum has a separate grill anymore, just the oven, but she only has the one oven. If you have 2 I can't see the problem. But as my boys are always willing to point out, what would I know about all things kitchen related.

Sputnik · 18/11/2009 21:05

I've always had an ove with built in grill, no problems but then I don't use either of them that often, maybe once or twice a week and don't eat meat.
Sorry to hear about your DH's shoulder Ria, no wonder both of you are pissed off, it has dragged on for ages.

Hi Natty!

JammyOLantern · 18/11/2009 21:37

I used to find it a pain when we had one oven with the grill built in - will quite often do roast or baked potatos & veggies with something grilled. But now we have a double oven, which has a full size oven plus a smaller one with a grill built into it, and I find that ideal. And yes it's fab at Xmas.

Rialentless · 18/11/2009 21:59

I would love a double oven. But we have my Grans "old-ladies" oven, and I am too attached to it to replace it (even though it needs cleaning and we have to prop the door shut)

DS1 has decided he is upset about the rabbit now. DH (under sufferance) buried it and we went out and chose a nice shrub for the top. DS1 would like a light putting in too. The guinea pig seems happy enough to be "single".

Sputnik · 18/11/2009 22:07

Yes my Mum has 1 big and 1 small oven, good for xmas.

justbeme · 18/11/2009 22:30

ok thanks for the thoughts!
So how's your new house Sputnik?

LackaDAISYcal · 18/11/2009 23:13

I've got a double oven, and the top one has a grill in it. The grill works fine, but the top oven is a bit hit and miss; mainly because it's not fan assisted so seems much slower.

We also have a combo microwave with a grill and convection oven that we bought as a stopgap when our old oven stopped working and I still run out of oven space when doing a big roast dinner

My sister has an oven with the grill in the top and it's a complete PITA ime.

Mine is a Hotpoint BDsomethingorother and I can fully recommend it's "self cleaning" properties...as I haven't had to clean it in a year

not sure why I'm still up as I've been up since 4.30am thanks to bumble...three days in a row now; am on my knees!

Rialentless · 18/11/2009 23:24

get to bed daisy!!!

baggins just woke up and is at the top of the stairs being noisily unhappy DH gone up while I finish this post. (DH almost fine tonight, but he's back to work tomorrow. Seems to be being at home and spending time with the boys/me that bugs him. He took me and DS2&baggins to the garden centre this morning to look at the xmas stuff and he even bought us something)

baggins not settling.will have to go...

LittleMissNorty · 19/11/2009 08:23

Morning.

JBM I used to have a double oven, but like Daisy said, the top oven was crap as it wasn't fan assisted and I only used it as a grill. When I had my kitchen done 2 years ago, if I wanted a built in double oven, the main oven was tiny. I had to sacrifice having two ovens in the end as I needed a large main oven and this has a built in grill - which is ok. Don't use it too often but is fine. I went for this one in the end and its fab. Neff appliances are great and come with a 2 year warranty which was very handy when my dishwasher played up recently as I booked an engineer visit on-line, at a time and day convenient to me, and, although technically "my fault" (it was clogged), he made over £200 of repairs and I wasn't charged for anything - parts or labour.

Arse about DH's shoulder Ria

DD looked fab Jammy

Rialentless · 19/11/2009 13:38

hi all.

DS1 just frightened me to death by trying to open the front door and then knocking loudly. I hadn't got the message from school to say they were being sent home cos the heating had broken.

JammyOLantern · 19/11/2009 21:37

Hope your fright passed quickly Ria.

Hearing test for Jamlet this morning. They weren't totally happy (she was congested in the ear, but they did say it could just be the cold we have atm, and they weren't happy with some of her responses) so we have to go back in a few months time. But I still don't think there is any problem. She heard everything I said when we were reading books this afternoon, even when I really whispered. And then it was parents' evening at nursery. They are happy with her and were full of praise - just her lack of speech that is a slight problem But hopefully that is resolving itself - I'm sure I am noticing more and more words from her.

Rialentless · 19/11/2009 21:54

how is Jamlets lack of speech a problem to the nursery jammy? Poor thing if her cold is bothering her hearing. OTOH, maybe she just didn't want to (or is that just my boys). Hope it all turns out OK.

we got a chart home from school where DS2 has to log an "activity/exercise" he does outside school

Sputnik · 19/11/2009 22:09

Sounds like your DD is about the same stage as my DS with speech Jammy. Hopefully we can find that mutualy reassuring!

JammyOLantern · 19/11/2009 22:21

They say she isn't communicating with the other children, Ria, which could be a problem. And they haven't progressed her into the next room because of it. I think it's amde worse for them that pretty much all she says there is mama and yeah.

I think she just went all shy and/or didn't want to play ball (or play point at the object) at the hospital hearing test.

Thanks Sputnik, that is reassuring. I am happy now that I can see her progressing. I think she will just take off one day and come out with a whole load of stuff and then never shut up! I think it's going to take wither something really unusual that catches her attention or for her to get really really frustrated one day. I just have visions of her coming out one day with something like "Oh FFS Mother, can't you tell I want Dolly's blanket folded like this not like that!"
