really tired tonight. wish I'd gone to bed early as it was raining really heavily and I find that really soothing to listen to when I'm in bed.

DS2 had another friend over for tea. I made sausage casserole with dumplings and mash, and foumd out too late that his friend doesn't like mash! (so I cooked him his name in potato letters) and I made another "wartime" apple crumble and tinned custard, but the friend had jelly. Not to worry though, I was able to take a nice hot meal round to my uncle (my aunt was taken back in to hospital within a couple of days of being discharged and ended up with emergency surgery to remove her bowel. she is now still in, getting used to being up and about and getting used to the bag), and there is enough left for the kids tomorrow. what I need to do is convince DS2 that fish fingers and chips are actually food and not some complicated poisonous work of the devil.

My day out tomorrow is off/ DH can't have the lunchtime off anyway apparently, so he will visit his DD when he goes to Leeds on Tuesday. Don't know if I'll get to go too or not.

ameRIAcansmooth · 12/11/2009 22:31

I had requested next week off from entertaining friends. but DS1 thinks it's his turn! (his best friend has dumped him, so he is trying to make new friends) wonderif I could get away with takeaway

Happy Birthday Jammy

JammyOLantern · 13/11/2009 11:10

Thanks Norty. So far I have been given lots of chocolate, a DVD and some Sanctuary scrub Have been to Rhyme Time where Jamlet was a star and joined in with everything, but I resisted putting my hand up when they asked if anyone had a birthday - after all they only have 4 candles on their cake! I have made banana cake to take to the children's centre this afternoon and DH is coming home early tonight so we can all eat together - pizza followed by cheesecake I am feeling very fortunate indeed.

LittleMissNorty · 13/11/2009 16:26

Lovely . Pizza sounds good! For some reason I couldn't write on your wall on FB - have you protected it?

trace2 · 13/11/2009 18:53

hello all happy birthday jammy i had to send a message on fb as i could not write on your wall!

any of you had a Baby Jogger Mini City, as we looking for one for chloe as some days she can not walk and thinking it will hold a bigger child.

oh and are we doing ss this year?

Rialentless · 14/11/2009 14:56

belated happy birthday jammy, sounds lovely

hi trace

JammyOLantern · 14/11/2009 20:28

Thanks Ria, and thanks everyone

The birthday fun continued today, we went here with some friends for lunch and it was really yummy. And all the children were very well behaved. Their menu was in the form of pictures to see with a 3D viewer like this so we all had good fun with them. We went for a walk round Oxford aferwards and Jamlet fell over running after her new friend She howled for ages, but I thought it was just the shock, but in the bath tonight I noticed a huge egg on her forehead . She seemed OK though so fingers crossed. (Will go check her in a bit.)

LackaDAISYcal · 14/11/2009 21:10

hello all

glad you had a nice birthday Jammy; was it a Big One?

I have got a godawful sore throat and the underside of my tongue is raw and swollen. Feels like my tongue is too big for my gob. If this is what my littlies have had (or have got in the case of DD, I can fully understand the misery)

Been stuck with poorly LOs still, although bumble is almost back to his normal self. DD's turn now; she has been miserable and screaming and carrying on most of the day and is super sensitive to not getting her own way. Why is it other people's children get quiet and clingy when ill, but mine are obnoxious and screamy? DH says they take after their mother

One of bumble's little mates has been in hospital with pneumonia . He is only 15 months old.

I wish this winter was over and done with already; I've had enough of it.

LackaDAISYcal · 14/11/2009 21:12

Sorry about jamlet's bump . I hope she's OK jammy.

Rialentless · 14/11/2009 22:06

poor jamlet. sounds like a nice day though. Baggins has developed quite a taste for Bach rescue pastilles

daisy. I have earache and a sore throat tonight, and yet another dratted period, plus DH has decided to stay over at work again, so I am feeling very sorry for myself

JammyOLantern · 15/11/2009 12:28

Hope you are feeling a bit better Daisy - and fingers crossed that you've all had your share of lurgies for this winter.

Jamlet seems fine and her egg had gone down by morning She's tired though and got a snotty nose, but we had a good trip to the park this morning all the same.

OK, loads of housework to do, and if I get enough done Xmas cake to make. And counting down the hours to Doctor Who!

Rialentless · 15/11/2009 21:44

yay for jamlets egg,but boo for snot.

had a really rock'n'roll day here. sneaky lie in as the boys were playing playmobil next to my bed, bacon sarnie, masses of washing, ironing of damn clothes and moving of now-dry ironing. Then scrubbing walls in the hallway, shampooing stairs carpet (by hand!) and bleaching of mould on the bathroom ceiling. Have very sore wrists.

collected DH from work and baggins fell asleep in the car listening to Alan Titchmarsh, so that was an easy bedtime sadly DS2 was difficult and upset

no Dr Who for me, it looked too scary, but I am watching that dreadful jungle programme.

aw, lovely doggie butterfly and I love the name mungo

sorry not been around; poorly LOs, bust clearing out and now poorly me

I am fed up of crying children though and getting a bit stir crazy as we've hardly left the house for over a week now.

Sputnik · 17/11/2009 13:28

Ah you poor thing Daisy. The bust clearing out in particular sounds painful.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2009 14:04

lol sputnik, that should have been BUSY clearing out, not bust; I don't have some sort of weird boob illness going on or have finished feeding bumble

LittleMissNorty · 17/11/2009 14:47

Mungo sounds fab Butterfly

Gosh its quiet here.

I've been mega busy rellie visiting and my mum to stay. She made more Xmas cards with DD of Santa complete with cotton wool beard . I got some "handmade by DD" stickers off e-bay, and we're sorted

Got DS this snowsuit for the winter and he looks like Michelin man.....I had to get 12-18m size.....little fatty weighs 25lb now! DD is only 32lb!

Sputnik · 17/11/2009 16:00

Yes, great name for a dog.
I have been busy too, seem too have more going on in my new urban existance! Not a bad thing.

Sputnik · 17/11/2009 16:02

I bumped into Andiem yesterday btw, on a thread about bolting toddlers. We waved at each other.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2009 18:05

I sometimes see Andie's name but am too late to wave.

If you ever lurk andie, come and say hello

Well done Butterfly on making Tip of the Day

JammyOLantern · 17/11/2009 19:28

Your dog sounds lovely butterfly. And I like the name Mungo. There is a cafe in Oxford we go to sometimes and once we saw a boy wearing a homemade hat with his name (Mungo) written on it, so we now call it Mungo's cafe. So I will think of you now whenever we go there.

I went for a belated birthday curry last night with some friends. Was a really good night But I got a bit tipsy, which wasn't so wise as I had to do a presentation in London this morning . Ah well! I would have been alright if it wasn't for the complimentary liquers we got offered at the end of the night. And several people were driving, so I got given theirs!

JammyOLantern · 17/11/2009 20:28

Oh and I have an appointment for my first counselling session on Friday evening . I am all nervous about it, though not as badly as I was before the assessment session. Mind you it is still only Tuesday.
