How's Bumble today Daisy?

I have to say that sometimes the MN crowd do panic slightly about possible A&E situations. Its difficult to reassure someone when you're not there in case, god forbid, you advise wrongly, but with me, I just have this gut feeling and I usually follow that IYKWIM. I tend to keep my mouth shut unless I'm confident of what I'm saying. Sometimes a little medical knowledge is not always the best thing!

Did you manange to change your booking?

We've had a quiet day (mainly due to a crappy night with DS).

Looks like I might have to go to Germany for some training with work and I really don't want to leave my babies for 2 nights but can't really get out of it

JammyOLantern · 09/11/2009 20:31

Hope Bumble's OK and that you got your holiday sorted without too much effort or expense Daisy.

I had a doctor's appt this morning, so got the bus to work after and the 10.20 was missing, and the 10.50 was 10 mins late so I ended up standing in the cold for nearly 50 minutes. Then the way the buses loop round it turned out that the missing 10.20 became the missing 5.50 when DD and I tried to come home, so we stood in the cold and dark for 55 mins until the next bus turned up at 6.40 .

ameRIAcansmooth · 09/11/2009 21:36

jammy

LackaDAISYcal · 09/11/2009 22:00

horrible jammy; waiting on public transport was the one big thing that I HATED about commuting. Can't imagine what it must be like in the dark and cold with a toddler to entertain.

Bugger for your trip Norty. seems a bit harsh when you are still on maternity leave! Or is it when you go back? Mind you, the way my lot drive me mad, I think I would relish the thought of two days away from them all

bumble still coughing, wheezing and rattling and pretty miserable. Doc says it sounds like bronchiolitis, but it isn't on his chest so no ABs needed. He also has nasty swollen tonsils, but there is no bacterial infection which is good. I've to keep an eye on him and keep the calpol flowing...yeah yeah yeah.

Bless him thiough, his voice is all gravelly and squeaky and he has been "singing" all day to sound himself out

got the holiday changed, but it cost me another £25 admin, and of course the weeks are slightly more expensive. Still, we MUST avoid term-time holidays at all cost

We are going back to Norfolk jammy...maybe we will manage to meet up next time?

LackaDAISYcal · 09/11/2009 22:03

I don't think we are allowed to take part in that offer Ria....will ask DH.

They will also be doing a couple of 15% discount days in the run up to Christmas, wheich we are elligible for!

JammyOLantern · 09/11/2009 22:09

I hope so Daisy

LackaDAISYcal · 09/11/2009 22:55

Norty, did you see the news about the McLaren product recall in the states? dodgy hinges apparently and UK consumers are also affected. There won't be a UK product recall though (we are obviously less inlcined to sue than they are stateside) but hinge covers will be available. A fair few threads on it here tonight.

ameRIAcansmooth · 10/11/2009 09:20

May I just quote from DS1s history assessment? It made me laugh -

"King Charles 1 was a bit of a believer in the divine right of kings and so he thought he could rule the country by him self with out the help of parliament. The divine right of kings is the thing that says that a king is chosen by god to rule a sleeked[selected] country, personally I think it?s a lot of cobblers because people fought to get the position of royalty and the tuffist being Henry 7 has let descends[descendants] of his family rule England for a long time. "

Am loving his reasoning skills! He began by saying the cavaliers took their name from the Spanish word cavellero, but kind of wasted his very impressive point by saying the Roundheads had Beatles hairdos and wore hermits on their heads that made them look bald!

Bless him, damned spellcheck!!!

LittleMissNorty · 10/11/2009 09:54

Ria.....tuffist!

Thanks Daisy ....will look into that later.

Osteopath today so matching underwear required

DD done a poo in her knickers this morning ....no idea why....first poo accident since we started. Threw the (ITNG) knickers in the bin - far too early for all that! Oh well.

ameRIAcansmooth · 10/11/2009 11:17

that was DHs favourite! poor kid. they are meant to be helping him after several notes to school from a certain neurotic parent

JammyOLantern · 10/11/2009 12:08

Ria. But sounds like he has a better grasp of history than my mate at school. She wrote in a test that William the Conqueror invaded England because he felt like it

LackaDAISYcal · 10/11/2009 20:34

Lol ria, he will go far

still poorly here . bumble seemed better but his temp was up at 40 before bedtime and he has a horrible, horrible cough. DD is coming down with it as well, and has been delightful all afternoon.

gtg, making Crimbo pressies for all my female rellies.

JammyOLantern · 10/11/2009 22:08

Oooh, watcha making Daisy?

Bless Jamlet. Tonight is her first night under a duvet, rather than in a sleeping bag. We just popped up to check and she had climbed on top of the duvet and was lying with her feet on the pillow I lifted her up, turned her round and tucked her back in without waking her thankfully. Will see how she does...

LackaDAISYcal · 10/11/2009 23:46

I'm knitting everyone one of these scarves I made one for me and it so lovely and soft. DD now has a mini version and everyone who has said they like it is getting one. Takes three evenings to knit up as well, so really quick and look fabulous and more expensive than the £8.50 they cost to knit! I'm trying to finish a pair of longies for bumble at the minute though, and have just had to stop as I can't make head nor tail (or should that be bottom?) of the pattern.

bless jamlet, but you better get used to it Children sprawl everywhere other than under the duvet ime.

oops, loulou up and poorly.....gtg again

LittleMissNorty · 11/11/2009 08:59

Oh fab scarf

Hope DCs are feeling a bit better this morning.

DS went 7-7 last night ...shame the fucking dog woke us up and 5.30am for a wee then

How did Jamlet get on Jammy? When DD started, we used to find her in all sorts of odd positions and the pillow was not a success. But finally, 6 months later, she now snuggles down, head on pillow and pulls the duvet over her. Took a long time. We have taken the bed guard off now so she can get out more easily to sit on the potty....she looks so grown up.

DS is almost too long for his 18 month sleeping bags (WTF....he's 9 months old!) and I'm not buying more so he'll be getting the duvet a lot sooner than DD did.....the same sleeping bags done her until she was 2!

LackaDAISYcal · 11/11/2009 11:22

Still the house of lurgy here

bumble's temp only being kept at 38 with calpol and nurofen combo and DD is losing her voice (I am secretly rejoicing at that) and was up half the bloody night.

I NEED to go out and meet people; I'm getting cabin fever and my knitting is not ging well (the longies not the scarves) and I'm really frustrated as I can't understand a crucial bit of the pattern.

and I'm coooooold

wow Norty, he must be really long! Bumble is a bit long in his as well, but he will be stuffed in em until Spring as I'm not buying any more! He can technically have a duvet, but I think the bags are much cosier in the winter. I may get him some fleece sleep suits instead.

LittleMissNorty · 11/11/2009 11:52

is it something that needs to be explained on the pattern Daisy or shown?

DS is long bodied I think as his vests are 12-18m but trousers 9-12....like his dad!

He is head and shoulders above my neice who is 3 months older than him ....a boy thing I assume.

Poor bumble and DD .....DS starts nursery soon, so he will catch every bug going I expect....probably just as I'm off to Frankfurt!

LackaDAISYcal · 11/11/2009 14:36

both norty

I have posted for some help on cloth nappy tree and waiting for someone to comment on my pictures! I need to get this sorted as this may be the future of bumblebums at stake!!

LittleMissNorty · 11/11/2009 14:57

what does it say? Or link?

LackaDAISYcal · 11/11/2009 16:10

are you a knitter Norty?

LittleMissNorty · 11/11/2009 16:47

yes....and a cross stitcher. Not as often as I'd like. My mother is a prolific knitter and makes aran jumpers for my 2 in a weekend!

LackaDAISYcal · 11/11/2009 18:06

oooh, maybe you can help?

link to thread on here and there are two photos on my profile (or will be shortly) Top pic is rear gusset, one underneath is front gusset.

JammyOLantern · 11/11/2009 19:53

I used to do a lot of cross-stitching, but haven't done any for ages now. Funnily enough i haven't done it at all regularly for about 2.5 years now

Jamlet had a high temperature at tea time, almost 39. She didn't seem too bad in herself, but not quite as perky and didn't want much to eat. So a large calpol before bed and fingers crossed.

OK, next Weds is fancy dress, children's book character theme, at her nursery for Children in Need. We are thinking Meg from Meg & Mog - dark brown dress (can't get black really for her age but we have a brown dress upstairs), and I'll make her a hat. But any other suggestions?

LittleMissNorty · 11/11/2009 19:59

Have you sussed it out now? You need to pick up stitches evenly spaced out from the loop created by the stitches along the edge (I think)....if you were sitting next to me, I could show you . Sounds similar to picking up stitches around a neckline to do a collar or a button border.....do you know what I mean? Or have I got it completely wrong?

Off to chat with my students......

FrazzledFairyFay · 11/11/2009 20:32

Just popping in quickly to say hello. I haven't been around for a while and I haven't a hope of catching up I'm afraid but I just wanted to say hi.
