Ahhhh, Saturday night, large glass of chilled Chardonnay, proper chicken kiev and dauphoioise (?sp) potatoes and broccoli cooking, Strictly taping on HD, kids asleep...what more could I want

Done long trek in the woods today....knackered out the kids and dog.....got very muddy but had a lovely time.

of your facial Ria

LackaDAISYcal · 07/11/2009 20:09

chicken kiev and dauphinoise potatoes.....you can tell who had their gallbladder out!

sounds lovely . We had burgers and salad (well I had lamb chops) and a bonfire and fireworks. Bumble was fascinated by it all, and despite being choked with the cold and really grumpy, he really liked being in the baby backpack.

Had a photoshoot today. £30 for a 15 minute session and you get all the images on disc to take away, free copyright!! The kids loved it, but were just warming up when it was all over..although I wish I had noticed that DD had a delightful snotter just about to drip from one nostril.....need to get them retouched I think!!!

ameRIAcansmooth · 07/11/2009 21:24

ooh, where was that daisy?

Norty - were you inspired by Katie Price?
(Do you really think her mother used to make her own chicken kiev? or is it just me who thinks that if they can be bought pre-prepared there is no need?. DH makes his own for work of course)

My Dsis gave me a bottle of Oxford Landing for having her DC to play after I took Dniece to the salon for her mini facial and manicure. (No need at all but I ain't giving it back). I need it after another night of hysterical children - fucking fireworks. Tried counting the bamgs tonight. That didn't work either. Then DS2 decided he could probably watch them out of the window. Why can't people have them before 8pm?

LackaDAISYcal · 07/11/2009 21:51

It's usually at the Armories, but today was at the conference centre across the square from the Armories.

I'll FB you the contact details. They do about four or five shoots a year over a weekend. The next one is the weekend of 5th December I think. And if you do book, mention me as if I recommend 10 people I get a free shoot!!!

I'm going to have some nappy shots done next time I think; if I can borrow some friends' babies that is!!

I've just ordered a shedload of prints and collages for Christmas from Snapfish for under a tenner too; so a good cheap option for nice photos.

ameRIAcansmooth · 07/11/2009 22:04

sounds great daisy. why doesn't stuff like that happen in the country?

DS1 is very moved by the remembrance thing. (as are DH and I,obviously) it's quite "personal" this year though I think.

ameRIAcansmooth · 07/11/2009 22:11

OK, now I'm getting a history lecture on the Battle of the Somme (sp?). Maybe it's bedtime??? (for DS1, not me)

LackaDAISYcal · 07/11/2009 22:21

It's not too far to come Ria, and you can combine it with a trip to the museum!

It is very poignant this year isn't it? I wish DS1 was old enough to watch it.

I have had such a good day today . I took the DC myself this afternoon while DH took our rubbish to the tip and started building the bonfire. DS1 was brilliant, and helped me with the littlies. And, I haven't felt the need to shout at them at all today. This is progress!!!

ameRIAcansmooth · 07/11/2009 22:32

it's nice when you get a day like that. I have not had one of those

I say this every year, but from being 7 and joining Brownies, I sat through the service every year in a church locally, an it's a shame for the kids now that don't do it (no Cubs/Scouts here anymore, and the Brownies don't do church anymore) I maybe didn't understand what was going on. but even now it's my favourite (if you can call it that) church service of the year, because it means something. I think it was maybe a mistake letting DS1 watch though.

ameRIAcansmooth · 07/11/2009 22:40

DS1 went to work with DH tonight, to watch the fireworks at the pub, but DH had a couple of little jobs for him. Nice for them to have a bit of bonding time, and DH was told he was a credit to him (I think you'll find he's a credit to me)

LittleMissNorty · 07/11/2009 23:09

Blimey, I could never be inspired by Katie Price....what an old tart! Kiev, chips and sweetcorn in front of blind date....jesus I had forgotten about that!!! I love the F word but octopus.....nearly had me heaving!

No, I was inspired by the £9 meal deal from Tesco's

And yes, it is SO nice to eat without fear of pain afterwards!!

Those pictures were FAB Daisy......they really are so gorgeous!

Xmas shopping all done

LittleMissNorty · 07/11/2009 23:12

btw, dog has got a fucking limp ....can't keep up the pace obviously....even DD managed 3 miles or so! Hope its just achey feet and not a vet trip

ameRIAcansmooth · 07/11/2009 23:45

have you checked for thorns and given a dose of rescue remedy?

LOL norty, I thought not. She had me chuckling quietly to myself. If she had beaten Gordon I would have given up on food, not just him. (and it's frozen peas and chips with kiev evry time, not mash and sweetcorn. FGS, has she no class?) The octopus had me feeling a tad queasy too. There has been something else this weel that did have me suffering with the old involuntary vomiting reflex, but it could well have been on cbeebies or the radio. Can't remember what it was, but it was unpleasant.

well done on the xmas shopping. am very impressed. I could do mine now, but I do not have the self control to not do it all again come December (bloody David Essex)

DS2 has just come down and he smells of tonsilitis.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2009 00:28

Is it perhaps a bit of arthritis or rheumatism Norty? My cat gets a bit limpy when it's cold and wet.

I've booked my holiday for next summer! Back to the same place in Norfolk, but staying in a different cottage....AND got a £65 discount as Cottages4You do a MN discount. Now we just have to figure out how to pay for it

Gah, I should be in bed...tis DH's turn for a lie in in the morning.

LittleMissNorty · 08/11/2009 10:41

Yeah no thorns...he showed his teeth at me when I checked ..he's still very sore but putting some weight on it this morning. What a lightweight.....labs are supposed to have stamina!

Just washed all the baby puke out of my lounge carpet with my vax....a bit overdue.....when I sat on the floor with the dog last night, it stunk of puke .....fresh as a summers day now

Off to my nieces 1st Birthday party today . DD is very excited about a birthday and presents!

LittleMissNorty · 08/11/2009 10:42

could be arthritis I spose....but he's only 5....or is that middle age for dogs?

LittleMissNorty · 08/11/2009 10:43

Oh, meant to say well done on booking your holiday Daisy....we're thinking of doing a week in Centre Parcs.....any tips ladies? Which park is best, how do I get a good deal etc?

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2009 12:39

check out hotukdeals.com for a discount code Norty and avoid the school holidays like the plague and you should be fine.

I like Whinfell in the Lake District.

Or try one of the European parks; we got a fantastic deal when we went to Belgium, and th cabin had it's own sauna and breakfast rolls and croissants delivered to our door every morning.

Had bumble at the GP this morning; they think he has bronchiolitis

ameRIAcansmooth · 08/11/2009 13:22

I haven't been Norty, but I really want to go to Whinfell.

ameRIAcansmooth · 08/11/2009 13:27

it's my favourite Jackanory Junior just now. Kris Marshall.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2009 14:17

I should avoid asking questions about babies on MN.

I started a thread about a rash on his bottom this morning (non blanching pin prick rash)and was advised to take him to the docs, which I did...rash isn't a problem (doc said nappy rash, but it's like no nappy rash I've ever seen), but doc was more concerned with his chest and said about possible bronchiolitis. Mentioned it on my thread and I'm being told take him to A&E immediately! Surely if the OOH doc thought that he was seriously ill, or had bronchiolitis for definate he would've sent me to the hospital rather than saying calpol, fluids and take him to your GP tomorrow? I'm really worried now that I'm neglecting a serious health issue? or that the doc is a quack and has missed something? OTOH, I don't want to be taking him to A&E if there is nothing wrong with him.

He seems fine; he has a cough and a rattle and is a bit miserable, but he is choked with the cold so no worse than I'd expect. He certainly doesn't seem ill enough to need A&E

ameRIAcansmooth · 08/11/2009 17:11

no idea daisy, sorry. A call to NHS direct? OTOH, if there was no MN you wouldn't have had the conflicting advice.

bugger, baggins has just nodded off.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2009 18:38

if there was no MN I wouldn't have "met" you lovely lot

his breathing seems a lot easier now, but his cough is so dry and tickly, that his wee throat is sore; he has such a gravelly voice, bless him. He is asleep now and dosed on calpol, but I have a feeling it might be a rough night. I'm going to camp in with him tonight.

JammyOLantern · 08/11/2009 19:33

Oh fingers crossed for you then Daisy.

Had a lovely weekend with my family. There was a bonfire at my Aunt's, but it was a bit late starting and poor Jamlet asked to go to bed before the fire was even started But thankfully it was just next door, so I was able to pop back later to join the fun (with Mum Dad at home listening out for her of course).

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2009 21:50

durr...so much for having holidays booked.

I booked the wrong bloody weeks; no worries thinks me, back on 4th September; school will start sometime the follwing week. I have just checked the LEA website and apparently they are back at school on 1st September...which means that next summer the shcool holdays are only 5 weeks and 2 days long? I'm hoping this is a mistake. We had seven full weeks this year.

I'll need to see if I can change the booking tomorrow

ameRIAcansmooth · 09/11/2009 14:53

christmas offer

arse daisy.
