does she have older DCs jammy? (I know I have maybe been a bit lacking in the hands-on dept this year, but only because DS1 likes to take baggins into soft play - if he can get away with it. I have been a bit worn down y the in-your-face-ness of my boys of late though, but no crech facilities in these parts to tempt me (not that I ould cos they would cry and I would feel guilty probably even DS1!)

from what you've said in the past jamlet is very sociable and well-used to adult social situations (she has eaten in better restaurants than me!) your friend will get over it! Have a lovely time

my keyboard has it in for me tonight!

JammyOLantern · 22/10/2009 15:09

No Ria, just this one.

It was fine in the end though. She sat in Starbucks feeding while I was outside in the play area with Jamlet, and we kept popping in to see her and for me to slurp my drink. Good job I did keep close to C as she wouldn't play on the nice safe equipment labelled as suitable for age 1-3, but loved the extreme thrills of the age 6-12 climbing frame & slide

Oh and she stayed in her room all night, with no getting up, even if she wasn't in her bed exactly - she was in bed when DH checked before he came to bed but by 6.30am she was asleep on the floor. Not sure if she fell out or climbed out or when, but we never heard anything

LatinDAISYcal · 22/10/2009 21:49

oooh, quiet again.

I'm too busy scrabbling farming knitting

DD had a few nights on the floor as well jammy but she mostly stays in the bed now!

feeling really today. the state of the house is overwhelming again, not helped by the thought of a week of school = more mess-making time. spent the morning icing a very pink cake for the "christening" DS2s class are having, and it more or less collapsed in the car on the way to school.

will not give in and have buttery toast and chocolate, but may well hide under the table and cry.

justbeme · 23/10/2009 22:12

about your cake Ria - Was it salvagable??

I hate that overwhelming feeling re housework - Sometimes i set myself a time limit (a short one!) for a certain room and it's surprising what you can achieve with a bit of motivation!!

JammyOLantern · 23/10/2009 22:25

Sorry you're not feeling so Ria.

Was a busy day, I volunteered to run the session at the children's centre this afternoon and it was quite tiring, and Jamlet didn't nap today so she was very tiring. But been out for a curry with DH tonight while ILs were here so am not absolutely stuffed but happy

LittleMissNorticiaAdams · 24/10/2009 10:04

Hello

Back from a week away and thought it would take ages to catch up....obviously not

My washing machine - and dryer will be going constantly from now till Monday I think

ameRIAcansmooth · 24/10/2009 16:55

your night out sounds lovely jammy

hi NOrty, was wondering where youwere! Where did you go? Did you have a nice time and good weather?

My washer and dryer will be going constantly too, as the upstairs hallway is almost blocked with dirty laundry (it's been raining all week and I bought the wrong size vent adaptor for the condenser tube). Have decided to moce the dryer into the kitchen today, and it's hardly steamy at all (without a condenser). It used to be in the a garage (meant I had to go outside), so we moved it to the conservatory, but it made it too steamy and wet in there (no heating). Hope this plan stays OK til I've caught up with the laundry. I am NOT going to feel guilty about using it!

thanks for last night Jammy and JBM, I tried to reply but the PC froze and I was cross cos DH was late from work as he got stopped by the police and told to wash the car (I know they're doing their job etc, but it gets wearing that he gets stopped so much just because of the time he leaves work, once I think it was 13 times in a month). I have been trying to start a blitz today, and have bleached a fair amount of the kitchen, but then got tied up with a snuffly and tired baggins who wouldn't sleep, and a brief nap for me because I have killer earache, so I haven;'t achieved a lot. Might finish the kitchen today, but nowehere else

ameRIAcansmooth · 24/10/2009 16:56

daisy has gone on holiday BTW.

justbeme · 24/10/2009 20:46

All these holidays!
Foxy is in the IOW, where's Daisy gone?
and yes Norty where did you go?

Been looking at sofas today - saw one I like - over £2k for two 2.5 seaters!!!! Do we go for quality - or get a cheapie??

ameRIAcansmooth · 24/10/2009 22:14

ooh sofas! (I have my Grans 3 piece suite, it's knackered but I can't bear to get rid yet.) A furniture place near us is selling off it's stock (moved warehouse I believe). My parents have bought a new bed (seriously expensive apparently) and I spotted some lovely sofas outside when I walked past (when I finally figured out it was that shop they had been to. Sorry am rambling a bit) I think they were £300/£400 each, but that was the sale price. DM got new sofas from the same shop (not in the sale) and paid more than she ever had before, and she has been really disappointed with them. So no idea JBM.

sorry for waffling on

I set myself the task of dusting the living room once the boys were in bed. I've done nearly all of it

JammyOLantern · 25/10/2009 10:42

I'm always a bit suspicious of cheapie sofas. If it was me, I'd get the best I could afford, even if it was more than I'd like to be paying or if it meant compromising on some other element of design IYKWIM?

Jamlet doing well sleeping in her bed, though she did fall out with a bang last night Just having her first daytime nap up there though, as has been very reluctant to do that. But we are both exhausted after a 4.30 GMT start this morning!

ILs have gone home It was nice having them here but always a bit tiring. I was a little that they didn't spend more time with Jamlet. The point of them coming was to see her, but they went out on Friday, and despite me saying we saying we would be home from our session at the children's centre at 3 (which they were invited to btw) and them saying ooh yes, they would be home then to see Jamlet, they came in at 4.30 with no apologies or mention of the time . And yesterday they preferred to go home from our trip out mid afternoon rather than come see Jamlet on the playground .

ameRIAcansmooth · 25/10/2009 11:29

not in the best mood here after a night on the sofa with baggins while DH had the bed to himself

shame about your ILs jammy. Mine haven't been to our house since baggins christening. I expect we'll go to them this week, but DS1 hates going now (I suppose he's old enough to notice they don't bother with them as much as the other GCs)

not sure of my plans today. Have taken DH to work so I have the car, but it's a bit drizzly. I was going to go to a RSPB place a few miles away, but the paths are very close to the cliff and I don't fancy it with baggins. Might see if my parents will have him for an hour while I take the others. Am hovering currently so I can't hear the arguing!

ameRIAcansmooth · 25/10/2009 18:31

just waiting to go and get DH from work, in about an hour.
The boys had chow mein and chips from the chinese for tea

My niece is 12 next month, and I noticed my hairdresser is doing really cheap mini manicures and facials for charity. Do you think that's too grown-up for a prezzy for a 12 yo? I don't think pink and fluffy will fit this year

JammyOLantern · 25/10/2009 19:15

Not sure about the facial Ria, but I'm sure a 12yo would love a manicure!

JammyOLantern · 25/10/2009 19:31

Oh FFS! MIL has only been home a few hours and she is trying to sort out a stair gate for us (for when we visit them). Did she not listen to me saying at the weekend that yes we would need one but that we would either get a "travel" one (we will need to take one to my parents too and don't really want to be carting a full size one around the oountry) or would get 2 cheap ones somewhere and leave one with each set of parents?

ameRIAcansmooth · 25/10/2009 21:41

I have a BabyDan travel one that I got from a boot sale for £3, and I wish I'd had it forever (only got it this summer, it's now on DS1s bedroom), but a cheap 2nd hand one each will be fine I would think. (I know you know that, I'm just backing you up IYSWIM.) Our gates (having been 2nd hand in the first place and having been through so many kids - mine and DN - the springs are weakening) would be fine for short-term use in GPs houses where there are a lot of adults to be watching LO, but I have got rid of a couple as they weren't much good for me being on my own (too easy to get out of if you haven't got eyes like a hawk!)

I'm sure she's only trying to help (and maybe excited about your next visit to theirs after spending time with Jamlet?), but still I'm on your side!

LittleMissNorticiaAdams · 26/10/2009 08:37

Morning

Sorry for all of you that had early morning wake-ups yesterday...I was so lucky yesterday with the clock change....both DCs stayed in bed until 8am GMT, so massive lie-in ....catching up from a week with very little sleep and no routine.

We spent a few days in Camber Sands (so not exactly far from home ) on a cheapie (Sun) holiday. Lets just say it will be a unique experience ! Not exactly £9.50 holiday though by the time you add the extras, food, going out, petrol, £100 for kennel and cattery fees......however, loved indulging DD and letting her do things, stay up, eat crap etc and she loved it. Just won't be doing it again!

She has developed a fixation for Toy Story 2 and I am sick to bloody death of it and know it word perfect now.

Four weeks and I'm back to work

JammyOLantern · 26/10/2009 12:12

Thanks Ria

Another early start here this morning. 4.20 . I managed to curl up with her in her toddler bed until 5.50 though, so got some rest at least, if not sleep exactly. But also got severe cramp in my legs . I think she may be too cool in her summer sleeping bag. Haven't persuaded her to give the sleeping bag up for a duvet yet, so if I can't persuade her tonight I will have to hunt in the linen stash for her heavier weight sleeping bag and hope that if she's a bit toastier she'll sleep longer.

Just 4 weeks eh, Norty - wow! And glad you had a good time away, even if not quite as cheap as first thought!

LittleMissNorticiaAdams · 26/10/2009 12:27

blimey....4.20!!

DS is in vest, babygro and 2.5tog sleeping bag atm. You can buy something between a bag and a duvet I think....will have a look and see if I can find it later.

Right, got to get DD up for lunch!

JammyOLantern · 26/10/2009 19:32

Well she's got her "space dog" 2.5 tog sleeping bag on tonight, so fingers crossed!

She has been lovely and cheeky since coming out of nursery. We had to go to the shop for milk and while we were in there I had to buy a tomato because she picked it up and started sucking on it, so I felt rather obliged! Still it shows she loves her veg - apparently she was the only one at nursery today who ate the green beans. The old ladies in the queue behind me thought it was cute rather than naughty when I explained shy I was just buying the one tomato

ameRIAcansmooth · 27/10/2009 09:43

well, "family day" going well. DH still in bed

Am SO tempted to make him take the boys out on his own...

JammyOLantern · 27/10/2009 12:11

Oh Ria, I hope your day has picked up a bit by now?

I had a much more civilised start - 5.50 Still a touch early, but not so bad.

ameRIAcansmooth · 27/10/2009 21:57

not really jammy. Went to the salon and booked a mini facial and manicure (and a sneaky facial for me - I've never had any kind of salon treatment before), DH got up at 11 and said I should have woken him!

We went to York, he took the boys to the railway museum and I wandered round the shops, then we went to the outlet on the way to visit ILs. DH rang them from there only to find out they were outside our house! (Not that they had come especially to see us, DHs DBs and their kids are on holiday at a local Haven site, so they'd come to see them) And then DH got a call from work to cover tonight as the other person's holiady ferry has been delayed

Baggins has worked out how to undo his car seat harness. Not great on the A64...

Have spent the evening decorating pumpkins (one of my least favourite craft activities. I am still using up my Mums stash of crepe paper that she used to use for fancy dress when we were all little! She once made me a crinoline lady outfit!!!)
