Here it is, Juners! New thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Naat · 24/10/2009 20:03

ouch, Ermin, I was sure you liked it X factor is a guilty pleasure here

Skillbo · 24/10/2009 23:51

Hello

Just a quickie as am currently babysitting a friends 2 yr old DD and although going well, their house is right by some train tracks so Jazzy squawks every hour or so... gonna be a fun night!

Also meant to say yayayayayay for test score - thats something. I also luckily passed my test before the theory was introduced (but failed that part of my first test so not sure I would get on very well!).

Strictly fan here and am dead chuffed Jo has gone. Didn't get to see much of the dancing as rushing around after two little girls (how do those of you with more than one do it every day!) but loved Jade and Ian in the dance off - and quite a dress, or rather not a dress!

Anyways, it's late and I think my friend shouldn't be long - set her up on a date with another friend as both lovely but unhappy with still being single. Hope it has all gone well - never really played matchmaker before and am nervous as they're both good buddies. Oh well, will have to dissect it when she's back.

Hope everyone had a super saturday and is planning a nice rest of the weekend...

LittleSarah · 25/10/2009 08:49

skilbo - I too am pleased Jo has gone. She's very sweet but just terrible. And so pleased Zoe avoided the dance off too, felt bad Jade was in it but I don't like her as much as Zoe IYKWIM. Oh, loved Ali's American Smooth!

Hope your friends' date went well!

Naat and ermin - I shall be watching X-Factor on itv player today to get my fix.

Thanks for the expressing advice, I shall start trying to get a regular supply.

Happy Sundays all!

daisy5 · 25/10/2009 09:58

Never seem to have any time to post these days.

Very quickly, great news naat on new home.

littlesarah - I express after he has had breakfast and after the last feed for the night. That just happens to be when I have extra left over and know I will have plenty for the next feed. It is hard though, he is getting hungrier.

Gotta go. Hi everyone else.

June2009 · 25/10/2009 13:24

Wow sarah very impressed with your score :D
Hey daisy hope you're ok.
We have both strictly and xfactor in the background while we roll over on the playmat with baby (not simulteanously!).
naat do you go to baby swimming lessons or do you just go to the pool with the baby?
2 of my friends have joined a baby swimming class and love it. I want to join one locally but the next course starts in January.(bit cold then, isn't it).

skillbo how did the date go? Dh and I met through someone else (by chance though, it wasn't an arranged date.)

Baby's up after a 20 minutes nap, that's how long she naps during the day nowadays and last night was a nightmare from 3:30am onwards,

bigcar · 25/10/2009 14:58

afternoon all

littles, congrats on passing your test, lucky they fitted you in

june, well done to C on rolling over, did you get an extra hours sleep? We were just up an hour earlier, although dh cocked up and put the bedroom clock forward instead of back I'm hoping it will mean an hour earlier into bed tonight though [ever hopeful!]

naat, swimming sounds lovely, a much better experience this time! Kids are off for another week, doesn't mean they sleep longer, just that we don't have to rush to be out of the house early

skillbo, hope you survived your evening, how did the date go? Yep, I'm glad Jo went, seems nice but not a dancer. Jades dress was certainly, umm, interesting, what happened to all the glamour they had last series????

we didn't get to see too much of the dancing last night, bil and his family are over from Ireland so there was a bit of a get together. Dh doesn't always get on with his db so I was a bit nervous, but all was fine, they both quite enjoyed moaning about the dancing Mil watches x factor so we flicked the tv over to watch the rest of that, I'm sorry but I really don't get those twins they were truely awful. My niece thinks they're great, so I think I may have missed something?

dh is at a mates watching football (no sky at home!) apparently all the man u fans have been buying beach balls to throw on the pitch dh is not amused! Best go do something useful, waves to all

June2009 · 25/10/2009 15:28

bigcar I haven't had much sleep at all since this morning 3:30 am.
C. kept waking up and crying/whimpering in her sleep, so I was going to check her out, putting dummy back in, changed her once as well. I think she had wind.
Anyway then she stopped waking up and I was worried that she was not making any noise anymore so I kept waking up and getting up to go and check her.
We also got a phone call (wrong number) at 5am and I think someone rang the bell as well (or that could have been yesterday).
Next thing you know it's 8am and baby is hungry. Since then I haven't stopped, had to reheat my thrown-together lunch in the microwave 5 times (which means i've had black eyed peas and microwaved cucumber for lunch... great), not had a cup of tea yet either. (just staying upstairs now while C. is falling asleep, hopefully for more than 20 minutes.)
I've tried watching the end of strictly about 20 times since yesterday evening, dh not into it so he keeps changing it as soon as I leave the sofa and now bil is here watching football.
I've got people coming round for tea and cake at 4:30, I look a right state, not washed my hair or had a shower and I have a headache coming on.

right, i think baby has finally fallen asleep so I'm off for a tea and biscuit.

I'm sure the cheesecake later will cheer me up...

bigcar · 25/10/2009 16:01

june, rough day! Double doses of cake I think for you, solves everything, especially if there is chocolate involved too Hope you get a better nights sleep tonight.

bigcar · 25/10/2009 16:22

ok so doing something useful just hasn't happened skillbo, for some reason I hadn't noticed your photos before, they are lovely, your Jazzy is a cutie!

Naat · 25/10/2009 17:32

Hello ladies!

Bigcar, ohhhh poor you waking up earlier because DH put the clock wrong Mila also woke up one hour earlier... so I just fed her and came on MN to nose around some threads I had to take a nap a while ago because of that Glad there's no running in the morning this week

June, oh that was a rough night, double slice of cheesecake (yum!) Hope tonight Calypso sleeps like an angel and you get some rest. Ohhh and hope you dodge the headache! Both times we went to "family fun", not classes, as they're during the week (morning or early afternoon) and DH wouldn't have been able to go. We'll keep going on Friday evenings for the moment but the "water babies" class sounds good as you have an instructor and all.

Daisy, hi! I can see you're a busy bee these days. Don't worry about catching up, just come and post Hope Fraser is sleeping well and his wind is not giving him trouble.

Skillbo, do tell us how the date went [nosy emoticon] Hope it went well.

LIttleS, hi!

Bigcar, yes, those twins are just a disgrace. I think it's just a kick in the chin for anyone who tried for the X factor, sang well and got eliminated. The judges keep saying they're "entertaining", well, this is not even Britain's got talent, where you could say "ok, at least they're "funny" or "entertaining"" This is a SINGING COMPETITION, for God's sake! Sorry, but it does get on my nerves, I just can't believe it.

Quiet day here. Some cleaning, then church, then lunch and nap Looking forward to seeing those two eliminated tonight [hopeful emoticon]

Waves to all, ladies, have a nice evening.

xxx

June2009 · 25/10/2009 18:46

oooh, it's not wind....it's teething!!!

Being tired stops me from thinking properly.
C. has been unsettled all day today, she woke up pretty much as soon as I finished writing my earlier post.
She got the red cheeks and the chewing...I only figured it out about half an hour ago and gave her some powder which seems to have worked and she has fallen asleep for now. She is due one more feed around 8pm so we'll see what happens. If she is still unsettled I will give her calpol before going to bed.

oooops, and up again, see ya!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 26/10/2009 10:47

Hello all.

Had three nights of rubbish sleep and feeling a little vague today. Luckily DH is on half ter so I can go back to bed for a couple of hours each morning and catch up. DD wakes 3 - 5 times a night because of this blardy cold and she's really unsettled!

Hope all is going more smoothly with your little ones xx

daisy5 · 26/10/2009 17:13

First night Fraser didn't wake between 2:00 and 5:00. He went from 11:00 - 6:15. Yah! He has slept longer before (9 hours) but from a 7pm start so this is the first time he has fitted in with my sleep time.

Unfortunately DD unwell and so was with me in my bed, but still a promising change.

june - I wouldn't like to count the number of times I've confused teething and wind over the past month. So much for being 'finely tuned to your babies cries'!!!

iI'm a big fan of Teetha but Weleda puts the powder into a big jar, which is handy and cheaper so must try and find some (maybe online).

MrsMcJnr · 26/10/2009 21:10

So here I am! How are you all? Today has been such a hard day, the kids and I have got used to having lots of people around and Mummy alone just didn?t seem to cut it with DS today and he was so naughty, I felt like I spent the whole day yelling at him. How do you manage to keep your cool? I find myself getting so cross that I grit my teeth and get a headache. It doesn?t help that DD will scream her head of unless she is being held by me all the time. I just don?t know how I will get anything done if this continues!

daisy5 · 26/10/2009 21:11

I mean 'finely attuned to MY babies cries'.

daisy5 · 26/10/2009 21:15

I know - I am so tired and sometimes DD just presses all the wrong buttons and plays up and I snap at her. I feel I would be a much nicer person if I could just get some sleep. DD is playing up, but 'it's doesn't feel cool to loose my cool'.

MrsMcJnr · 26/10/2009 21:49

Reading backwards?.

Daisy ? I can handle anything apart from lack of sleep! Hope your DD is feeling better. Great sleep from Fraser, love it when you get consecutive hours like that ? last night I got 12-5 then there was a projectile vomiting incident

Ineedmore ? poor you, you are up an awful lot at the moment, hope DD feels better soon.

June ? I know exactly how you are feeling! Sounds like yesterday was a particularly rough day poor you.

Hey Naat glad to hear swimming was a success and that you have a new place to live.

Bigcar ? hey there, enjoy the leisurely mornings.

Skillbo ? so are you a successful matchmaker?

Ermintrude ? I do look back to some of the times when DS was a PFB and realise that they were bliss.

Littlesarah ? well done on your theory test! With DS, I used to express the 10pm feed when he stopped taking it and off one side when I was feeding him on the other in the mornings.

Hey there Strawberrysam

Finding it hard to keep interested in Strictly because the show is so long, I agree with your comments about Jade?s dress, a little too wild for me! We don?t get the channel for X Factor sadly.

I was very strict about DS?s naps when he was Aaliyah?s age and I am thinking that I need to be more regimented with her, maybe she would cry less if she slept for longer. What are your babies doing nap wise?

DH went back to work today

Better go. More tomorrow

Skillbo · 26/10/2009 22:21

Howdy

Sounds like everyone has had a tough couple of days.. I blame the clocks! Jazzy and DP haven't been too bad but I have been very out of sorts - felt in a much better mood today though so hopefully back on the up!

The date - was a disaster! Not to the point where they hated each other but my girlfriend thought that the guy was too camp to be straight and the guy thought my girlfriend was a headcase! So, not planning on buying a hat yet and think will leave the matchmaking to everyone else!

Didn't have a good night stopping over either as it was Jazzy's first ever night away from her own bed. She was up a record 5 times so was a total zombie yesterday and was in bed by 930.. didn't drop off until DP came to bed at about 11 though but compared to most nights, that was an early one for me. Very of an almost straight through night for you, Daisy.

I think teething and wind are easily confused as have been thinking Jazz's had trapped wind over the last few nights. She has been teething REAL bad during the day but I just didn't connect the two until I saw the posts on here. Had a giggle over 'tuning into my baby's cries' - I so don't have a clue . I offer boob, smell bum and if neither of those, end up making stupid faces in an attempt to stop the crying - sadly, doesn't work very often. A woman at baby massage had her in hysterics on Friday - she just wouldn't stop laughing and the woman wasn't doing anything I don't do.. guess mummy just isn't very funny!

Ineed - ah, half term, that explains the groups of spotty boys loitering in the park today! Fab for you though - extra sleep is always soooo great and you should definitely take advantage. Boo to all the wakings in the night - I hope your lo gets over her lurgey!

MrsM - hope yours start behaving themselves. I always find Monday the hardest as Jazzy is spoiled over the weekend as DP is home and at least one day is spent with Nanny. She basically plays up a little, well a lot! Today wasn't too bad though as I think she was catching up from Saturday night and had a 3 hour snooze over lunchtime.

Went to Ikea this afternoon and managed not to buy anything. It is the first time that I have had a serious look in the kiddies dept and there are sooooo many lovely little things. I think I've found where Jazzy's crimbo pressies from us (and a few from Santa) will be coming from. I will leave the buying of expensive fisher-price-type toys to the parents.

Looking forward to Halloween - I know some of you have got costumes but anyone else planning on dressing up your lo's? Got a rather snazzy skeleton baby-gro for Jazzy - will have to post some piccies!

June2009 · 27/10/2009 07:05

skillbo dh wants that skeletton sleepsuit, we saw some in tesco but they did not have the right size. I'm not all that into halloween myself.

mrsmc I like the pics of Aaliyah's christening on fb Your dress is exactly what I am looking for for C.'s christening in December. (with tights and cardigan here!)
I have some but they are either just black or red (not really suitable for church.)
Where di you get it from? (and do you know if this style of dress has a particular name?)

I hope ds is less naughty in the coming days, I don't know how people with more than 1 do it (and I really do want more than one too...).

that's all I have time for unfortunately, hi to everybody else!

Naat · 27/10/2009 09:16

Hi all!

June, lots of teething here again and all of a sudden. She's even chewing her dummy. Last night I thought we were in for a looong night but fortunately she was sooo tired she just zonked out after we rubbed some calgel on her gums. She woke up at 3 to feed but it could have been worse. How was Calypso's night? I hope it wasn't too eventful.

Daisy, ohhh that night sounds good! Hope dd is on the mend now.

Mrsmc, I'll log on to FB to see Aaliyah's pics. Glad to hear DH has recovered and is back to work. Mila naps during the day. In the morning at around 9 after she feeds, and that's for about 1.30-2hs. Then in the afternoon again, but the time varies there. Again for 1.30-2hs. then she goes to bed between 9.30 and 10.30.

Skillbo, ouch, well, you tried Sorry to hear Jazzy found that night a bit hard sleep-wise. Hope she (and you ) had a better one last night.

Ineed, oh ((hug)) hope Emily is feeling better now and you got a better sleep last night.

Hello to all Juners!

I had Mila weighed yesterday, she's 6.900kg (15.2 pounds )
Quiet day here, we're going to water babies with my translator friend and her DD. Nothing else planned. Hope teething doesn't get the best of Mila today

Hope you all have a good day!

Waves!!!

Skillbo · 27/10/2009 10:43

Hello

Meant to add this to my post last night but kind of zoned out. Thankyou Bigcar for your sweet comments re Jazzy - we rather like her!

I really love seeing piccies of everyones little ones as I find it fascinating watching them grow up, little by little. It always amazes me how much they have changed from when they were newborns! Met a four week old baby the other day and couldn't believe Jazzy had ever been that size - hw quick you forget!!

June2009 · 27/10/2009 13:16

heya,
naat it's been better yesterday I think.
mil said to not use dentinox/bonjela as the baby "gets used to it" (that's rubbish, isn't it?).

I read in a book my dad gave me about bringing babies up that from 4 months (in france) you can puree 2 teaspoon of veggie and mix it wiht the bottle. So im going to do that tonight (broccoli I think.)

Today i got my pill changed by the GP.
I asked him how much weight I need to loose to be able to go back on the combined pill.
You know what his answer was? :

  • " A lot".
(I do have a lot of weight to loose, but still!!!). At least I didn't cry this time.

Anyway, not having any more of that cheesecake now obviously!

ermintrude13 · 27/10/2009 14:25

hi all

thought half-term was supposed to be restful but am rushing about taking DC to various places and planning complicated meal times before footie practice etc. so it doesn't feel like much of a break! arthur just gone down for a nap so i have a few mins to read and post.

june DD never had a problem teething but DS1 made a lot of fuss and i tried not to give him anything unless he really wouldn't calm down by chewing on a teether rattle, in which case i gave him a teeny bit of bonjela which helped a little for a very little while. maybe your mil is discouraging you from using it at the first sign of a whinge in case baby can manage without it?

never heard of mixing veg with formula . it seems a bit sneaky to me - surely if babies are ready to try solids they'll enjoy tasting the veg on its own rather than drink a bottle of broccoli flavoured milk?

glad your gp changed your pill and hope it's better.

naat that's good weight gain from mila

mrsmc arthur sleeps for an hour to 90 mins in the morning and might do half an hour around 4pmish but otherwise just has power naps and 20 min snoozes till bedtime! i should work harder at the afternoon nap i think, but just wait until he drops off

skillbo lol @ the disastrous date . nice try, but i think you're wise to leave matchmaking well alone, it often ends in tears.

bigcar try teaching your DH to say 'Spring FORWARD and Fall BACK'

June2009 · 28/10/2009 07:14

erm Yeah, I don't know what mil is on about, I didn't use it in front of her. She just said "oh you should give her bonjela gel" to which I said, "oh yes I have some", then she went on about how we shouldn't use it.

The theory behind the veg-in-milk is that it is a way to introduce flavours to ff babies who are not quite ready to have solids.
Apparently breastmilk is slightly flavoured depending on what the mother eat but formula is always the same.
Dh tried mashing some broccoli and mixing it with formula (which turned a nice shade of green) but didn't manage to make it liquid enough to go through the bottle teat.
(and it is so mashed/liquid by then that you could just spoon feed her or put it in a cup.)

naat c's chewing her dummy also, I can't seem to find any teethers that she likes. Is she too young maybe? Someone gave me the one you had that is kinda like a dummy, does Mila
take it well? (I haven't tried very hard with it tbh, the friend of gave it to me said she was holding it in her son's mouth, same age).

C. tends to nap an hour and a half after each feed. Sometimes for 1 hour (very rare), but usually only 20 minutes to half an hour.
She has also started dropping the nap between her last two feeds. (the very last one is between 8 and 10 pm and she goes to bed around an hour and a half after that.)
She wakes up every morning between 3:30 and 5:30 but I just give her her dummy and she goes back to sleep until around 7 or 8am.

Which is soon in fact and I have a million things to do before that, so off I go!
have a lovely day!

Naat · 28/10/2009 10:52

Morning!

June, nope, Mila never got fully used to those teethers, I had to hold them in for her as she'd spit them out in seconds. I had never heard of that veg-milk method but have heard of mums blending vegs and giving them to LOs in a bottle.

Ermin, busy week for you I see, hope you manage to get some rest here and there

Skillbo, yes, they grow too quickly!!

Today we're supposed to get a definite answer from the letting agency wrt when we'll be able to leave. AND today the engineer is coming between 1 and 4pm. basically the landlord wants the money for the whole month, either from the developing company (if it's a structural fault), us (if it's our fault) or the letting agency (ding ding ding! it's their fault for not having that poo cleaned promptly and therefore not allowing us to ventilate the rooms properly as flies and smell would come in). the manager of the letting agency desperately wants it to be a structural fault but the engineer will be able to tell... aaaaaanyway, if he says it was a ventilation problem and the letting agency doesn't own up we're screwed. They can tell the landlord it was found it was our fault I guess, and we'd have to stay Would we have the right to ask to contact the landlord in that case? To make sure they (it's a company which owns the flat) know the truth?

This was long, sorry ladies

Hope you have a wonderful day
