ineed i have both a silver and a porcelain tooth and the porcelain one is much nicer, people do not need to know you have a crown

It is worth asking another dentist for a quote, mine was quoting £150 for a factory made porcelain tooth or £350 for a man made one. I had the factory one and you cannot tell the dfference. Dh had a man made one and it broke when he was asked to bite his teeth together.
Hey at least these people will make the place warm right ;)

mrsmc Talking about flu, the oven repairman in my kitchen right now has just SNEEZED in the oven. FFS!
Lovely pic on your fb profile

The rest of the day yesterday was not too bad re:teething, still teething and restless but not full blown crying in pain.
She was better this morning also, so fingers crossed.

silk sorry I think I got you confused with insy, or are you both back to work?

I think repair guy is done, better go and pay then I suppose...feel like asking if I get a discount for catching his cold!! .

Also decided just cakes is not enough for the christening so we will prepare a lovely buffet for guests.

have a lovely day juners!

bigcar · 21/10/2009 16:09

afternoon all

worried, lovely photos! Enjoy your long weekend, sounds busy Edward is always sockless, they only stay on with little shoes, have heard gap socks stay on as ineed says but no gap nearby so have never tried.

naat, some nights are fine, E goes in his cot and falls asleep, others up and screaming until calpol comes out Any news on your flat yet, have everything crossed it all works out.

june, E does a combination of skydiving, with just his belly on the floor, pushed right up on his arms or bum right up in the air, tis funny to watch It takes a while to get the coordination together for crawling, backwards usually comes first, I seem to remember at about 6/7 months is fairly much the norm.

silk, big waves, hope all's ok

MrsMcJnr, glad the christening went well, hope you shift the germs soon!

must dash, got to collect ds1 from his after school club. Waves to all

June2009 · 21/10/2009 22:25

I know I sound like I always go on about contraception but after managing over a week of taking it on time I think my pill is making me really moody and irritable and low It hit me tonight, I spent an hour really really down almost crying and tired. I just felt really overwhelmed and not able to cope. I don't remember ever being that low and then in a flash I was normal again.
I've only got a few left and need to see the GP, now I don't know wether to ask for another one or if it's just the lack of sleep (but I dont think so.)

What have your dreams been like since birth by the way? I keep dreaming about hotels. I thought it would stop after we actually went to a hotel but it didn't. It's quite annoying actually I wish there was a variety of dreams...

right getting late and need to prepare some feeds for tomorrow.

take care juners!

Skillbo · 21/10/2009 23:21

Hello all - hope everyone is having a good week so far! So much to catch up on!

Naat - I think, from your other posts, that you have kept the emails that you have sent.. I would think that is the most important as you have written proof of your complaints over the months. I also second June's advice in that they should be registered so have a shufty on the ARLA website (click here) and you should be able to check whether they are and also what the basic requirements are. Sadly, had to use this before as well so best of luck on getting it sorted! Does this mean you have the barn - yeeha!

Amy - your HV was most unhelpful and don't think I can face 20 more like this... having said that, Jazzy has good days and bad ones so I guess that won't change! I also have to wholeheartedly agree with Ineed re socks - Gap ones are brilliant! If you can't get to Gap, there are similar ones in Babies R Us - they are like mini totes and made of towelling material. They stretch up to just below Jazzy's knees but never fall off!

Silk - re weaning. Am hoping that milk will be enough for Jazzy for another month or so yet (fingers crossed)... am off to my parents in Spain in a few weeks and so would like to not have to worry about food and stuff whilst away - just whip the boob out! Bit scared about the biting, Bigcar, but so far just the occasional chew when she's got bad teething!

MrsM - boo to swine flu. The vaccine is out now isn't it.. mind you, not sure about Spains supply? Hope you're ok though and the lo's have escaped xxx

June - I had a good giggle re your hotel dreams. Mine are all similar to before I had Jazzy except she has crept in there. For example, had a random dream I was playing rounders with some old school friends and I had to run around the field with Jazzy in a sling! Or I have a recurring dream about war (don't ask) and I now have to try and get Jazzy away from the baddies as well as me and my crew! Have also had a few saucy ones , so not totally dead down there despite how I feel when awake!!

Have had a couple of hectic days - went to a swimming event yesterday followed by a couple of hours shopping... Jazzy just wouldn't sleep either! As frustrating as it was then, she allowed me to lie in until 10.30 this morning so not all bad!

Today did a mad dash to the hospital to see the breatsfeeding counsellors about hiring an expresser only to be told I would be better off giving the old manual one a better go. Mainly due to cost (they now have to charge quite a bit to hire instead of giving them out like before) but also because there's not actually much difference between them which surprised me. I will give it a go once I've worked out how to use the steriliser - seems like it should be easy but my brain just doesn't work that well anymore!

Off to work for a friends birthday tomorrow and then a lazy afternoon... should be fun and Jazzy will get lots of cuddles so she should be happy (probably catch her needing a snooze so in a right snot!).

Take care all xxx

Naat · 22/10/2009 09:11

Hi all,

Skillbo, the yeeha made me giggle Papers are in so fingers crossed! (don't want to jinx it ) Thank you very much for your advice. DH is a lawyer (but majored in continental/roman law, of course) and although he never practised as such so he knows how to talk so here's hoping. Ohhh a lie in till 10.30, how wonderful! Hope you have a grea time at the office and that Jazzy gets lots of cuddles (and then zonks out )

June, oh you made me giggle as well My dreams are varied but I keep having loads of them, if I wake up in the night I have different ones every time I fall asleep Your pill issues don't sound good I'd definitely have a serious chat with your GP next time you see him if I were you. Force him to listen!! (something which many don't master )

Bigcar,oh poor little mite, let's hope his nights go back to what they used to be soon. Thanks for your thoughts (and crossed fingers btw )

Ineed, I'd forgotten to say, great to hear that DH had no trouble at all when you went out the other night Ohhhh and glad you'll be able to get a porcelain one. June's tip is worth looking into! Ohh those gap socks might be the solution to my little kicking mule !

Ermin, hi! I wish they got scared! Some people are just useless and do their job so badly

Mrsmc, glad to hear the christening went great but boo hoo to swine flu! How's he feeling? ((hug))

Silk, ohhh glad to hear the girls are such angels!

Right, the engineer didn't come yesterday so today DH is going to chase the matter. I think they do it on purpose, let time pass by until they wear you out

Lots to do around the flat today so I'd better get going. Hope you have a nice day, over here it's overcast, nippy and rainy

Waves to all!!

ermintrude13 · 22/10/2009 10:20

Hi all

bigcar Arthur is still not madly keen to go on his front, although he does put his head up and try to move a bit. Then he just wails until we turn him back again

June lol @ the hotel dreams. A woke me to feed at 5.15 the other morning for 20 mins and I just couldn't get back to sleep before the alarm went because I kept slipping in and out of sleep and dreaming about his birth, but this time imagining all the terrible things that could have gone wrong. . Good job I didn't have those dreams before the labour!

Any type of hormonal contraception makes me feel depressed. See if your doc can suggest something else? It's awful to be affected by those things when you should be happy with your baby .

Skillbo hope you get on with the pump. I use my old Aventis manual and prefer the control it gives me to electric ones - but then this time I've a less bountiful supply so the manual allows me to get it all going at my own pace.

Naat I bet it's handy when you have a dispute, having a DH who's a lawyer. Keeping fingers crossed for you!

MRsMC How are you and yours m'dear? Hope the lurgy is lifting now.

Off to lunch later with a friend who has a DS who's 6 wks older than A, so he can teach him some new tricks .

Enjoy your days ladies and babies.

June2009 · 22/10/2009 11:04

I can't possibly go to the doctor's for the third time to ask him about contraception again.
Although he probably doesn't remember that I have come twice already (he'd forgotten I had a c-section after I had got him to check my scar once a week for 4 or 5 weeks when it got infected.)

I have to see him cause the pack is almost finished anyway so I will ask him if I can try another one maybe.
My last one (combined pill yasmin) was great for me but apparently I cannot have that anymore because i'm still overweight (argh!! Why can I not stop eating bad things!!!!). Though I do like the idea that the mini pill is supposedly less interfering than the combined pill in a way, isn't it.
Yasmin and Dianette which I both took were shown on the bbc news about a month ago in a video clip, they were talking about pills that are potentially/allegedly "less safe" for your health or something (not sure if it was about deep vein thrombosis or somehting else).
I was told - after taking dianette for 7 years - that you're not meant to take it for more than 3 (or is it 5) as they don't know the side effects. (Well, eeerrr... thanks for telling me like 5 years later ?!?) Originally took it for acne, I think contraception is a side effect of it.

The GP is just going to say, in this order : "injection, implant, mini-pill, coil, condoms, (abstinence?."
I'm definitely NOT having the first two just in case they make me really depressed.
I have not looked into the coil as the idea makes me feel anxious. I was anxious before being pregnant that I would freak out about having something inside. It turned out to feel really natural and never had panic attacks or anything like that but the coil is just not meant to be there, is it...dunno maybe I'll read some more about it and get my head around it.

I'm afraid that if I start telling him the pill is making me depressed that it'll somehow start a whole complicated process and follow up and it'll have to go down on my record and have repercussions wth insurance and a whole bunch of stuff that I'm not aware of.

Anyway, enough about me, sorry, just venting...

LittleSarah · 22/10/2009 20:29

June - My driving instructor also has fears about being pregnant and something growing inside her, I haven't been able to reassure her!

I am absolutely knackered. Exhausted. Worn out. ETC. Alex seems to be sleeping like a newborn and I have no idea what to do/change if anything. Next week I have to start taking dd to school which means being up, dressed and outside by 8.30am and I am dreading it. Trying hard not to get depressed. (Not to mention job hunting, I am worried about not getting a good job and therefore wondering why I should bother leaving Alex and am worried about managing a full time job on so little sleep if I do miraculously get one!)

The teething things is not a problem as yet - feel delicate at the very thought of that becoming an issue too! - he chews and dribbles a lot but isn't unhappy.

Dreams? Lots of them, all different, mostly strange, wouldn't mind a break from them to be honest!

skilbo - I need to try expressing again (hate it) as Alex has gone off the formula (which he had occasionally when I was out) completely, argh. So going to try expressing, then it will be different formulas/bottles and so on. If I wasn't going back to work it wouldn't be such an issue... but...

Socks - Ours also never stay on, have been tempted by those little stay on things at Mothercare naat! Will try gap too. Did have some gorgeous wee shoes like ermin which helped but now need bigger ones.

Right, sorry for pathetic catch-up, I plead extreme tiredness.

Hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend!

Oh, theory test tomorrow!

MrsMcJnr · 22/10/2009 23:28

Very quick as exhausted and will be woken up for sure at 2-3am re socks, I agree that Gap ones are good but Trumpettes are best and last the whole of the first year. DH is still off work, my Dad is getting annoyed now and is saying that people recover from heart surgery quicker - I have concerns that DH's lounging in bed is now more to do with his mental state rather than physical catch up soon!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 23/10/2009 07:48

Sorry to hear that MrsMcjnr - not sure what to advise, but know that there are others on here that have more experience of depression.

Sorry to hear you're suffering sleep deprivation, LittleSarah - DD also went through a similar thing a couple of weeks ago. DD is also full of cold at the moment and she's really unsettled. It's so hard when you have to function at some kind of level the next day...

All full of cold here. Waited in all afternoon yesterday for the plumber who didn't even turn up or phone..... Anyway, he's supposed to come over today. I won't hold my breath....

Watching last night's Question Time at the moment.... Bonnie Greer is fabulous! Can't believe that Nick Griffin said that Churchill was 'islamaphobic' and the leader of the KKK was a 'non-violent' figure ....

LittleSarah · 23/10/2009 09:46

Ineed - Thanks for the reassurance, I'm hoping things will improve.

Totally forgot about Question Time last night! Will iplayer it later definitely.

Right, trying to get in some last minute revision before theory test!

Naat · 23/10/2009 09:55

Hi all

LittleS, allllll the luck in the world for your theory test today!! I have everything crossed here for you Sorry to hear you're tired tired tired (((hug))) hope you get some rest soon.

Ineed, grrrr for you! I hate hate hate when they say they'll come and they don't! Hope he makes an appearance today.

Mrsmmc, sorry to hear things are difficult at home, come and vent when you need.

June, I was going to say, chances of him remembering and saying anything about it are slim if he didn't remember you after just a few days!

Ermin, hi! Hope you had a nice lunch yesterday with your friend.

Hi to all the rest of the Juners!

We'll try swimming again this evening There's family time at 7.30 tonight (odd time, I know, but it works for us as DH can come) if we get the same reaction then water babies is the next step, I guess, to try and see what an instructor tells us.

No engineer yesterday either. DH dropped the L word yesterday (lawyer, not lesbian ) and the woman from the letting agency suddenly changed her voice/mood/attitude etc Here's hoping they give us an answer soon.

Right, Mila is up now. Waves to all!!!!

ermintrude13 · 23/10/2009 10:09

Naat that sounds promising, hope your DH can put a rocket under the letting agents.

LIttleS I'm soooo glad I took my test a hudnred years ago, before they introduced the theory. I think it means I'm entitled to drive all sorts of vehicles without further testing too, which is a bit of a scary thought . Best of luck, we know you're good at exams and studying so I bet you'll do just grand

MrsMc Oh dear, hope there aren't problems between your DH and dad. And that DH gets out of bed soon, whatever reasons he;s there for! Hugs to you.

June the contraception issue is a complete minefield, nothing is the perfect solution unless you're one of those lucky women who have no side-effects from the hormonal implants or pills. Hope it doesn't get you down too much though. Is there a nicer doc at your GP's who might listen better?

Off to the shops with A wakes. We're back to one wake a night now, which is much better, and he's going down at 9.30 rather than 10.30 to 11, so it's all moving gradually in the right direction. I hope!

Half term next week - can't wait for us all to be able to lie in a bit and generally chill

Naat · 23/10/2009 10:23

Ermin, nope, I didn't explain it well I meant her attitude changed and she got all defensive and monosyllabic Have fun today! Glad to hear nights are good these days

bigcar · 23/10/2009 15:55

afternoon all

erm, E has only been happier on his tummy since he started rolling, I think he's figured rolling means he will end up on his front Now if he could just master rolling from front to back he'd be sorted

littles, good luck with the theory test Like erm, I did mine twenty odd a few years ago and the theory part was done at the end of the driving test whilst sat next to the instructor in the car, usually about half a dozen questions at the most! Fingers crossed for a bit more sleep.

ineed, you must be so frustrated, at least it's not really cold yet

naat, that's awful I hope your dh can sort something out with them.

we're on half term now, inset day today and target setting day yesterday, so 2 mornings of not having to dash around like a loon, woohoo! Dd1 took dd2 and ds1 to the cinema this afternoon to see fame, they had a great time while we got the food shopping done in peace Waves to all

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 23/10/2009 16:32

Boiler is fixed.. only cost a tenner. Warm house and hot water..... DD rolled over onto her tummy for the first time...

Happy days.......

Naat · 23/10/2009 17:08

Ladies!

We got the flat (or barn, as Skillbo would call it )!!! Yee haa!

Now the only thing is trying to move out soon Will keep you posted!

I'll catch up later! xxx

bigcar · 23/10/2009 17:11

woohoo naat and ineed, fab news all round

ineed snap C. rolled over on her tummy as well for the first time yesterday. She was on the bed and it took a lot effort and grunting which was really funny to watch.
She has not done it on the play mat yet, I think it's easier for her on the bed.
Good job on the boiler, you'll have to send us the number of your repair man!
We've fixed a few things in the house since we got back from holiday which is nice as I won't have to explain anymore the hole in the kitchen ceiling to new guests (shower leak - was there for almost a year!) or why the oven only cooks on one side etc. Funny how you get used to live with little imperfections like that.

The clocks are changing tonight, I hope C. will adapt quickly and not wake up one hour earlier from now on. (is that how it works out?)
What time do your little ones wake up in the morning? C's usually starts stirring around 6am (she kinda cries in her sleep which is weird) if I give her the dummy she'll fall asleep for a little while and keep on sort of waking up but go back to sleep if I keep on giving her the dummy until arund 8:30 am when she is wide awake and really smiley and happy to see me - until she realises she is hungry!!

littleS was your theory yesterday or is it today? I remember doing it, I thought it would be easy and passed it but only just!

naat LOL @ the lesbian comment :D
Yay for securing the flat, hope you get to move out of mould city soon!
I remember once a pipe had burst in our flat while we were away for 2 weeks, there was a leak through somehow and the carpet got sodden. When we got back little mushrooms had grown on the carpet!!!

strawb ah, thanks for that. Let me know what your GP says.
The past few days have just brought back some awful memories of being really down when I was on the "dianette" pill and all these years I put it down to grief (lost my older brother to a heart attack in 2000) but now I think it is very clear that it was the pill as I was much better on "yasmine".
And now I really can't beleive how crystal clear it is and it never occured to me!! What a breakthrough.

ok someone's waking up, have a nice day!

LittleSarah · 24/10/2009 09:16

Hi ladies

Well turned up at the theory testing centre yesterday only to be told I should have been there two hours earlier! I couldn't believe it. I was so sure my appointment was at 11.30am. This absolutely would not have happened pre-ds, my mind really isn't functioning.

Anyway they managed to fit me in anyway - thank you! - and I passed! (49/50) So nice to have it out of the way. The actual driving needs a lot more work but I'll get there.

Naat - Great news about the flat, sounds fab!!

Strawberry - Alex has not been enjoying formula/bottle recently, hoping it is just the formula factor at the moment so that if I express he'll take it.

Ermin or any other expressers (!), how do you do it? I mean how often and how long throughout the day to get a feed (5/6oz)? And when in breastfeeding cycle do you express? Just after a feed? Or an hour before next one or something? Any tips appreciated!

Skillbo · 24/10/2009 12:58

Hello all...

Hope we're all having a super day - worried I may have upset lots of people on a different thread but, hey ho - the joys of the internet eh!

Anyways, just a quickie for LittleS - I spoke with a bfc in the week re expressing and I got some info re expressing for when I'm at work. Basically, she said that you can build up a stock by expressing just after your lo has fed by doing 10 minutes on each side (any longer really and you will start to make yourself sore). This basically tells your boobs that there is another baby needing feeding and it adjusts accordingly. I am guessing you could do this about half an hour before you are expecting her to be peckish..? I was also told that to start with you will probablu struggle but over a few days the amount will build up. Also, not to worry too much at night as your supply is naturally less then - the morning is normally a good time as you will have hopefully had a nice gap and be able to get lots off.

Best of luck - still haven't started but struggling to work out the sterliser... must be baby brain!

ermintrude13 · 24/10/2009 16:57

Afternoon all

LIttleS wow, great test score, well done.

I'd second Skillbo's expressing advice. I try to do it every other day in the morning during A's longest sleep of the day and generally 30 mins after he's last fed (seems to be better for me to feel that the supply is building a bit again). I only do 2oz because it's just to have in the freezer and don't want to tell my body to produce loads, and some days I miss it but don't suffer any consequences. For work I used to have 2 x 20 min sessions, 1 morn and 1 mid-aft, which was much easier because I'd built up a big supply and could do 6oz at a sitting which made 3 x 4oz bottles for DD the next day.

So build up gradually, don't overdo it, and try leaving DH with a bottle of abour 4oz and see how quickly he gets through it; that should help work out how much he needs.

Naat · 24/10/2009 19:21

Hi all!

Ermin, hi! Hope you're having a nice Sat at home with Strictly on at 7

Skillbo, hi! There're threads that are scary! and some mnetters oh dear! Glad you got some good advice and support re. expressing.

LittleS, well done you!!! That's fab news! Totally sympathise with the mummy brain I embarrass myself daily thanks to it

June, it sucks, isn't it? Glad to hear the house is working to perfection now Hope you get to solve the pill issue soon and that you feel ok again. I so hope we can move out of mould city soon

Stawberry, everything crossed here for Tuesday! Hope you get some answers and a solution

Ineed, that's wonderful! and only a tenner so all the better

Bigcar, yay on not having to wake up early how long is half term? hope you enjoy strictly tonight

Hi to all the rest!!

We went swimming again yesterday. We had to try again! Fortunately she loved it! There were only three more families and the pool was bigger (different pool) so maybe that had something to do. She loved it! She was all smiles and spent nearly 50 mins in there. when we were about to leave we decided to go under the water [panic emoticon] and although she came up looking lost there were no tears or complaints so happy parents!!

At home today, some laundry then a long nap the 3 of us together in the afternoon

Watching Strictly now but will switch to x factor at 8

Hope you have a nice evening and a restful niight!!

Waves!!!

ermintrude13 · 24/10/2009 19:35

Aww, Naat your post reminded me of those days when it was just me, DH and DD and we could do things like all get under the duvet together and hibernate . I LOVE having 3 DC, but those early days with your PFB are so special and worht savouring.

I'm not at all into Strictly, how dare you! . But will tune into X-Factor because I can't help myself...
