Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bigcar · 28/10/2009 11:14

morning all

june, E doesn't chew for long on teethers, I don't think they do at this age, his favourite teether is my finger, accompanied with drool running slowly down my arm - yum Lol at bonjela comment! Hope you get on better with your new pill, have you considered a new gp to match, that's such an unhelpful comment, so much for giving you a bit of motivation!

erm, I have tried that, I think it comes in the category with birthdays, he's clueless

naat, good weight there! I think E is just over 18lbs, about 8kgs now, I'm not going that often now so not sure. He's moving around a lot more so I think he's going to put weight on at a slower rate, that can only be good for my back!

skillbo, sorry, but your match making efforts made me laugh maybe leave it to Cilla from now on E is the same, he finds one of my friends particularly amusing whereas we spend ages and just raise a chuckle! We don't really do halloween, having enough of a nightmare trying to sort christmas out

MrsMcJnr, hope you're getting some more sleep. It's hard to be as regimental with dc2s naps when you have a dc1 activities to fit round, hope you find something that works

daisy, I hope you too are getting some more sleep

ineed, hope your dd is feeling better, yay for half term

I must have slept funny last night, my shoulder is killing me, oh well, something else to add to the list of knackered body parts E has taken to sleeping on his front some of the time so I'm keeping a close eye. He's getting much more interested in what's going on around him, leaning and reaching for things, he tried eating his bag of nappies yesterday so I'm also having to be careful where I leave him

bigcar · 28/10/2009 11:19

cross posts naat, takes ages with the older dcs home! Hope your day works out well, fingers crossed!

MrsMcJnr · 28/10/2009 22:12

Another change to the lay out of MN don?t like change much!

Anyone else having bother with cradle cap? DS didn?t have it so this is my first experience of it and the nice smelling cream I got from the chemist doesn?t seem to be working.

After a good night?s sleep, Aaliyah slept 8-7.30 (though I woke at 6.30 drenched in milk ) I plucked up the courage to get Aaliyah?s ears pierced. I was shaking like a leaf and felt sick but she hardly cried, she was more annoyed at having her head held still to be honest. The earrings are a bit too big and bling for my liking but in a month I can change them to her lovely little pearls (birthstone) I am so glad that is over! I took her and DS to soft play and as she loves to look at everything I put her in a walker for a few minutes, she loved it DS still plays with his so I don?t think I can let her have his yet but another mum who is moving to Dubai in a few weeks offered me her daughter?s pink one along with a whole lot of other stuff I know Aaliyah would love the buggy in pushchair mode but she really is too young yet though she tries all the time to sit up.

Will catch up now?.

MrsMcJnr · 28/10/2009 22:38

Skillbo ? LOL at the matchmaking result, oh well! You sound like me, I really should try and get to bed earlier, I am my own worst enemy but the night is my time 3 hour snooze sounds bliss ? A slept for 2 ½ yesterday but sadly I wasn?t able to use the time as I would have liked as had a Spanish class Ikea toys are great. DS is really into ?cooking? at the mo and their kitchen stuff is really cute. I have a pumpkin outfit that DS wore last year that Aaliyah is going to wear DS has a party at the local soft play so A is going to dress up too.

June ? thanks for the compliments on the photos it was so hard to choose something to wear that I could still feed Aaliyah in as I knew I would need to. I got the dress in the Designers at Debenhams a few years back; I think it is a Julian Macdonald? It has been so useful and I like chocolate brown, hides a multitude of sins! It?s called a wrap around or wrap over dress and Boden normally have a few, they are quite flattering especially for big busts I think On the paediatrician?s advice I tried Aaliyah on ?papilla? which is cereals without gluten mixed with milk, I gave it to her on a spoon and Aaliyah just swirled it around her mouth and spat it out, I tried for a few days but I really don?t think it appealed to her yet so she is back to breast milk alone and as she slept through last night I am no longer worried that breast milk isn?t enough for her. Hope the new pill is better for you.

Naat ? thanks for sharing Mila?s sleeping pattern, I think Aaliyah needs more sleep. When I had her weighed at her 4 month check 2 weeks ago she weighed the same as Mila more or less. Hope it goes your way with the engineer.

Ermintrude - thanks for sharing A?s sleep pattern, Aaliyah tends to have those 20min power kips too.

Bigcar ? LOL at eating the nappies. I was at the chiropractor today about my backache (a hang over from pregnancy) it seems that my back is much stronger than my front and I need to work my tummy muscles, no surprise there! hope the shoulder has eased up.

Naat · 29/10/2009 12:18

Hi ladies!

Mrsmc, gorgeous pictures! DS looks so big and Aaliyah looked lovely in her dress. Glad to know she didn't even realise about the earrings Our family and friends back home are asking why Mila doesn't have any, it's sooo much easier to dodge recurrent questions when you're far away

Bigcar, hope your shoulder is better today. I slep quite badly last night and my back hurts I'll go for a walk after baby massage today and see if the fresh air and exercise helps Good weight, Mr Bear Mila has also changed her sleeping position, she now rolls to her front after a while instead of staying on her side

hi to all Juners!!

Well, both the dryer engineeer and the one from the developing company came yesterday, and both at the same time, of course

The problem of the damp was firstly triggered by the rain-pipe, which has broken right at the height of our flat and has been drenching the wall since God knows when.

Soooo apparently the developers would be responsible for the damage, which of course made the manager of the letting agency the happiest man alive and he told DH this morning he'd do everything for us to move out soon Sure, now that the developers will have to pay the landlord and therefore he won't he's suddenly extremely helpful

So, we're waiting for him to get something in writing from the developers, he'll let the landlord know about this all and he'll get back to us after that. Here's more praying then.

It's quite a nice day up here, the sun can be seen amid the clouds so that's not bad at all. It's quite mild as well, I'm sure this time last year it was colder...

Hope you all have a nice day, lovely Juners! Thanks again for your nice thoughts wrt this flat nightmare

June2009 · 29/10/2009 19:53

hey skillbo, just noticed where you live from your profile, I used to live in so'ton Have you been there long?

Skillbo · 29/10/2009 22:43

I hate this netbook piece of shite - just spent ages typing out a post and then it just decides it can't be arsed to work so lose it all...

So, in brief -

June - same problem with dummy teethers, have to hold them in but good way to put teething gel on (seems like a lot of money to pay for that but what can you do!). We have the 8Bigcar* method pretty well honed - my fingers or knuckles + lots of drool!

Naat - sounds like you should be able to move soon, fingers crossed... here's hoping anyway! Apparently, there's an indian summer on the way here but believe it when I see it!

Bigcar - laughed about eating nappies. Same problem here - she got her hands on a grotty nappy the other day.. not pretty!

MrsM - we have a spot of cradle cap but instead of expensive remedies we use olive oil. You put it on the affected area about 15 minutes before you plan to wash their hair and then comb it through just before you bung them in the tub. It's not a complete solution but is pretty good and I think after a few uses it clears right up. Having said that, it's harmless and Jazzy isn't bothered so don't mind a few scaly bits left!

Oh - and I've had Jazzy in her buggy facing forwards for a few weeks. She doesn't sit bolt upright though (she'd probably slide into the foot muff as she can't sit up by herself yet) but the back on ours is adjustable so she's almost lying down!

June - been in S'ton for about 8 years following a bout of travelling. Kept meaning to move on but have roots here now. You must let me know anything juicy or some old haunts as like to freak out DP every now and then.

Love Fridays - baby massage and DP finishes early... bring on the weekend...

Fingers crossed this doesn't bugger up again as not typing it all out a third time!

daisy5 · 29/10/2009 23:06

Hellish couple of days. Drove down to London then DD was vomiting dinner and temperature kept rising, but seemed good the next day although coughing a lot and complaining of sore throat, but we had just been to the doctor in Manchester about her cough before we left and he had looked her over and said there was no infection and to keep using the croup inhaler thingie. Seemed good the next day although Fraser coughing worse too. Went to friends for play and dinner. DD vomited up dinner again (all over lovely beige carpet and silk cushions!!) and had temp of 40.5, then Fraser just fell apart wailing and nose streaming. Got them both home eventually, but no sleep for either till 1.30 and DD's temp never got near normal till 5am.

Late start to the day for all and had a super urgent thing to do before heading to Walk In Centre. They were going downhill again and referred to A&E. DD now barely eaten for 2 days and Fraser unable to breast feed for the pain and being unable to breathe. Doctor found throat so infected there were pustules (sp?) visible and Fraser bad too. Now both on antibiotics and finally asleep.

And guess what.....I had my last mini pill this morning and realised I don't have any more with me, and have until 10am to lay my hands on some as DH birthday weekend planned and sexy clothes on hand.....and I am away from my local GP up north.

Great holiday!!!! not

next time I promise to have a less 'me' post.

daisy5 · 29/10/2009 23:07

Doctor up north only checked her chest, not her throat now I think of it, I wonder if it was infected back then three days ago

chocciedooby · 30/10/2009 09:05

Hi everyone. I have found you again

Have not been on line in ages. Just don't get the time anymore and kids are on mid term break this week. Have been thinking of you all though and wondering how everyone is getting on.

I have ds's needing my attnetion so no time for catching up right now.

Has anyone weaned baba yet? Elina started to stir around 4ish each morning and I think this is the first sign of needing solids. She has also been watching me eat so I am going to start her over the next few days. I weaned DS's at 16 weeks and Elina will be 20 this Sunday.

She is such a happy baby. I am truly blessed to have her.She smiles all the time, sleeps well, puts up with horrible meds for reflux, never really cries and has the most infectious giggle. The Love ooozes...... .

Still not done anything about contraception here . I spoke to the health nurse yesterday and discussed a few things but my options are limited as I still have BP issues. I have gone off the idea of the coil as makes period heavier and more painful and mine are bad enough. Really not sure what to do. Anyone else in my situation where they can't take the pill?

June2009 · 30/10/2009 09:32

daisy plenty of hugs from here, sounds like a nightmare, I hope it gets better from now on!

no time to catch up either,

hey choccie, C's been waking up around 4am as well, do you think it's to do with the solids? Someone else was telling me yesterday their son is also waking up around 4am and she has started feeding him again at night. I just give C the dummy and she falls asleep again.
I'm going to up the feed from 6oz to 8oz and see what she takes. At the moment she feeds 5x 6oz and almost always finishes her bottles. Her weight gain is steady (19 weeks and 13 pounds 13 oz yesterday.)
She looks taller than a little boy I met this week who was born a day before her.

June2009 · 30/10/2009 09:36

sorry meant to say C has not started on solids yet, and don;t get me started on contraception , it is a nightmare.
I'm "lucky" enough to be able to take the mini pill but really hacked off that there isn't more choice out there for women.

My gp said: injection, implant, contraceptive pills, coil or condoms, that covers it. (and abstinence!!). It really sucks. Good luck, maybe your GP can help you choose something that suits you.

Have a lovely weekend Juners!

ermintrude13 · 30/10/2009 10:47

Hey all

Daisy how awful, poor LO's . Hope the abs kick in very soon.

Sounds like you might have to get a box of three, m'dear

choccie Not given solids yet, tho Arthur does seem interested in watching us eat. I started the others around now (4 months) but was going back to work so there was more urgency. If he looks desperate I'll start but for now he's settled into one wake a night on b/milk only so I shant push it.

Same contraception probs as you. DH will have to go to the vet, that's all there is to it. He does intend to and soon will go out of sheer frustration .

ermintrude13 · 30/10/2009 10:48

Oh, and Naat I really hope you get good news soon

Naat · 30/10/2009 11:55

Hi all!!

Ermin, I had to read the "box of three" phrase 4 times to get it I can see your contraception will be sorted soon Dh told me the other day he thought the snip was not fool-proof, is that right? I thought it was quite a definite solution

June, hi! The other day at the children's centre 2 mums asked me Mila's age and when I told her she was 4 1/2 months they went and said she was huge, I didn't get it until they told me the age of their babas, apparently they were 6 and 7 mths I thought Mila was quite average, to be honest

Choccie, hi! Nice to read from you again! Awww you're besotted with Elina and that's how it should be She sounds like a complete angel. Hope you get some more time and can get on MN more often

Daisy, ohhh (((hugs))) you poor thing, you've had some pretty rough days... Hope both LOs get better soon and you can get some well deserved rest. More (((hugs)))

skillbo, oh your Friday sounds goooood Hope you have a good time at baby massage. Mila can't sit properly yet either she stays for a few seconds and then tumbles to one side

Hi to all Juners!!

Oh ladies, I'm close to losing all faith in humankind! The construction company took the blame the other day for the pipe thing and the resulting damp/mould thing UNTIL the letting agency manager told them yesterday they had to pay for the 2 weeks we won't be here breathing in the mould Grrrr, they now say they have to come again to re assess the problem and determine whether it's that bad Right, as if they were going to be objective! How on earth can we trust what they say if the other day they told us something and now suddenly they change their minds. This is exhausting

I was so angry yesterday that I went online, did some research and ended up finding some useful legislation in force. Soooo, I called the council and asked for an (impartial) local inspector to come and assess the problem. ha! The lady from the council was really helpful and nice, let's hope they call soon, she said they would.

So, unfortunately, this is not over yet

A niceish day here, cloudy but mild.

Hope you all have a good day, thanks for your lovely thoughts, Juners!!

Waves!!!

Naat · 30/10/2009 12:40

oops, I hit "post" too quickly.

Mila was up 4 times last night , 5 if I count the 6am one God knows why, she was waking up only once a night up until yesterday. I really hope she's back to that soon.

Oh, and yesterday while I was waiting in the queue to pay at the supermarket at those self-checkout machines, there was a lady in front of me and a man behind. Suddenly a young man who was listening to music and completely unaware of our existance stands next to the woman. She looks at me as if saying "oh dear", and the man behind me tells her to tell him something. She does and the young man without an apology just moves to the back of the queue... So, the man behind me says to me "no manners, tsk... he must be drunk, or a foreigner" Cue to Naat's poker face It took my by surprise so I just remained silent. I really didn't know if it was a good idea to answer...

ermintrude13 · 30/10/2009 12:46

Naat you should have sworn at him in Spanish . No, you're probably right to leave it, you're not going to make him any less ignorant.

What a bind about the construction company - I hope the council send a neutral person along otherwise, as you say, they're hardly going to choose to pay your rent are they? What a ridiculous situation .

chocciedooby · 30/10/2009 15:20

Oh Naat I am so sorry to hear you are having problems with your flat? What exactly is going on? Have you moved and the problem is in the new place or are you still looking to move. Sorry, its been so long since I have been on here .

June - Elina has been waking up around 4ish every morning for a few weeks now. I have been putting the dummy in and she goes back to sleep but I do think its hunger.(I remember my boys being the same). I gave her some baby rice today . She only took a small amount and loved it. Her little tongue was taking it from the spoon. Will be interesting to see if she wakes still but tbh she has upped her milk intake lately so has not been waking so much anyway. She is also on 6oz bottles. We normally wake her at 10.30pm to give her the last feed but she has been refusing it the last few days and would not even wake up last night for it. She slept from 8pm to 8am.

Ermintrude - about the box of 3. I bought some last week and gave them to dh. We still haven't used them . We are just not getting it on at all and I feel so bad about it. We are always going to bed at different times or we are just too tired. I have been in the mood plenty but then dh has been wrecked. I also have confidence issues about my post baby bod so need to work on that one.

Skillbo · 30/10/2009 21:38

Evening all!

Daisy - so sorry to hear about your hellish couple of days and am really hoping everything has settled down a bit for you xx Re contraception - following the pack of 3 rule here after a disastrous try on the mini-pill (just on a permanent period which was hideous). Also, could never remember to take it and we're not ready to do anything more permanent.

Choccie - no weaning here yet but Jazzy is only 20 weeks this weekend. Had hr weighed this week to make sure she is still puttin on weight and the HV was happy with her so we're now aiming for the 6 months mark! Having said that, she wakes up at least once a night, normally around 4am but just presume she's peckish as she seems to get enough from me.. she put on over half a pound in the last two weeks.

Naat - sounds like the flat problem from hell, so sorry they seem to be dragging their feet and being arses. You've totally done the right thing with the independent person - I would never have thought of that! Hope it gets it sorted. And how rude was that man (the one behind you) - talk about no manners!!

Anyways - had a lovely Friday. Jazzy loves a bit of massage and today was no exception - she was the only baby to get all the way through again. She dropped off almost as soon as we left too so managed to have a wander through a few shops on the way home.. yeeha!

Hope you're all planning to have a nice, relaxed weekend and probably catch up with you soon xx

June2009 · 31/10/2009 09:10

I must have missed something, what's the pack of 3 rule (condoms?).

I have a question for you, when C has her first feed of the day for the first few minutes her eyebrows get red. I wouldn't call it a rash as it doesn't look nasty and it goes away completely after 2 or 3 minutes.
I'm not too worried as she is not scratching and it's only temproray but it does happen pretty much every day (just on that one morning feed.) Has nyone else got that?

It's raining and miserable here in london

skillbo so'ton centre used to be vibrant before they built the west quay shopping centre. I managed a cafe called "Chateau du pain" there for a while before moving to London. (opposite what used to be Tyrell and Green).

not got much time for catching up today...see ya!

llynnnn · 01/11/2009 22:51

hi all!
sorry i havent posted for a while but i have been trying to read and keep up to date with you all just haven't had 2 minutes to post!!

naat - sorry to read about your troubles with your flat, sounds like a long drawn out nightmare! hope it gets resolved really quickly so you can move on

daisy - sorry to hear your 2 little ones are sooo poorly. hope they are better really soon and you are looking after yourself

we havent started weaning here yet. Isobel is having 5x6oz and is very settled at the mo, sleeping through (fingers crossed!) and happy. had her weighed a couple of weeks ago and she was 17lb 2oz! She constantly rolls over as soon as we lay her down! then she gets cross because she wants to be off and can't get back! bless!! she is adorable and just loves any attention she can get, particulary from her sister (dd1 def gets the most smiles and laughs!) its soooo sweet watching them together. i caught dd1 'reading' her the billy goats gruff story earlier and Isobel was laughing her head off!!

sorry i havent caught up with everyone personally, promise to make more time for you ladies xx

Naat · 02/11/2009 09:35

Morning all!

Llynn, hi! Glad to hear Isobel is doing so well DD1 sounds so sweet and besotted with her little sister

June, no experience of it here, so I can't help much. I guess if she's not feeling any discomfort by it, then it's ok, but I'd be wondering what it is too if I were you

Skillbo, Mila does the same after her massage, she sleeps for 2-3hs and I'm a happy mummy and can do lots in that time

Choccie, it's in the flat where we moved back in June Fortunately we've already got a new place and will be moving out soon. I also do the dummy thing when she starts moving at night. Last night she did it at 1.15am and after putting her dummy in and stroking her forehead she slept until 4.15!

Ermin, Yes, silence was probably the best Hope you had a nice weekend.

After a very very rainy Sunday today is bright and sunny here, albeit cold

Right, DH is really fed up with this situation and decided we're leaving on the 14th anyway. We're having the council inspector come anyway, and the manager said that even if we had paid for the entire month if afterwards it turned out the construction company had to pay we'd be getting a refund. To be honest I'm also exhausted of all this and just want to move. We moved into the living room this weekend as we don't want Mila to be in that room with all the mould. We started packing as well so we're trying to put this behind us. Let's hope whoever is responsible for this owns up and faces the financial consequences.

Right, smear test this morning, not looking forward to it, but well... It's right accross my translator friend's house so Mila will stay with her while I have it done

Hope you all have a nice day, lovely Juners!

Waves!!!

bigcar · 02/11/2009 11:01

morning all

daisy, bloody hell, that's no fun, hope your los are feeling much better now.

choccie, not weaning yet, although E has almost had biscuit quite a few times now thanks to dd3 Like anything that goes vaguely near him, he tries to grab it and put it in his mouth. I got some little spoons and pots in Asda the other day when they were on special, think we'll give blw and pureeing a go and see what happens!

erm, I'm still trying to persuade dh to go for the snip, I'll be resorting to a couple of house bricks soon, diy stylee

naat, what a cheek, I hope the council can sort this for you, you must be so fed up now. at the man in the supermarket, course it couldn't have been just that he has no manners

skillbo, baby massage sounds great, the one here runs at the wrong time of day for me doesn't give me enough time to get to the dcs school.

june, we've had some rotten weather this weekend, feeling a bit better seeing the sun this morning, even if it is a bit nippy!

lynn, E is always rolling off now too, it's funny watching him, he seems to have a plan to go somewhere, but then, like I, gets all worked up when he gets there. Your dd1 sounds a real sweetie

we've had a manic few days, don't seem to have achieved very much apart from loosing a lot of time. Oh well, the dcs are back at school today, so I'm going to have to get round to clearing up the bombsite house, I've already spent over half an hour hoovering downstairs, it was only done yesterday lunch time, where does all the crap come from???? E had a really unsettled evening again, finally went down about 12.30 after a dose of calpol, he kept falling asleep and then would wake again a few minutes later, lets hope these teeth come through quickly, poor thing!

waves to all

bigcar · 02/11/2009 11:02

and why has the layout changed again?!

Skillbo · 02/11/2009 21:27

Hello lovely ladies

Hope the week has started out well for you all. Had a semi-quiet day today - went to a playgroup thing in the afternoon and got a couple of toys from the toy library which seem to amuse Jazzy.

Had a horrid moment this afternoon - can't remember who posted this before but my heart stopped and... well, managed to choke Jazzy out with kiddy Neurofen as she was really struggling with teething pain. Just as I squeezed in the syringe, she took an almighty breath to scream and it all went down the wrong hole... oh, it was horrible - she was 'only' struggling to breathe for about 10 seconds but the longest of her life so far! Feverishly patting her on the back and turning her upside down seemed to finally do the trick but she was 'choky' coughing for ages afterwards and I felt so bad... am over it now but was a bit of a mess for a while!

June - red eyebrow thing... not seen it here as such but not really looked. She gets really red eyed when she's tired so maybe its just an early morning wake up thing? I would be tempted to mention it to your HV or GP next time you see them...

Lynnnn - how lush is your DD1? and way to go Isobel - piling it on!

Naat - yay for deciding on moving and let everyone fight it out afterwards... at least it gets you out of there and your DH sounds as if he's gothis head screwed on enough to sort it out!

Bigcar - don't beat yourself up about just hanging with your DC... I bet they had a whale of a time! Boo for teething - as you can gather, am dreading Jazzy suffering much longer as now nervous about administering pain relief...

Anyways - hope you're all fab and speak soon.. there are some fabulous piccies on FB at the mo, so many sweeties xx
