Struggling to load pages these days and saw we were over the 900 so took the liberty of starting a new thread.

Debs - just seen the boots on FB, they look great. Don't leave them outside!

DebInAustria · 10/10/2009 20:32

not at 40 Euros a pair Ktpie!!

abdnhiker · 10/10/2009 20:33

We're just packing up for a week's holiday on Skye - staying in a friend's holiday home. Sometimes I find it hard to deal with how well-off many people are around here (compared with our much more normal family budget) but other times like this it's brilliant we couldn't have afforded this week if we had to pay for accomodation as we still haven't found out if insurance will cover the flights to Canada for this week that we've cancelled (£1200, Fraser still has swelling around his testicle so we're not going).

Anyways, I hope everyone has a wonderful week - Sponge, hope you are okay this week and I'd be thrilled to come back to a birth announcement

DebInAustria · 10/10/2009 20:38

Abdn - have a great week, sorry to hear you had to cancel the Canada trip, fingers crossed the insurance will pay up.

abdnhiker · 10/10/2009 20:45

Deb - my SIL is having a baby in February so I'm not too upset to delay our trip a bit. March sounds good...

bitofadramaqueen · 10/10/2009 21:31

Fingers crossed for the insurance abdn. Hope you enjoy the trip to Skye.

deb supercute boots. And great pics of Ethan.

purée I meant to say earlier I love that toddlypearls is now referred to as the pocket dictator.

Anyone watching the x factor.

neenz · 11/10/2009 13:24

Abdn, hope the insurance pays out. That would be a real bummer to lose that money. Enjoy your holiday - sounds lovely.

Going, I received the clothes you sent on Friday . Well done Royal Mail . Thank you so much, they are just fab.

I have been in a stinking mood today. My period has arrived but I am not really annoyed about that, I think obviously I am hormonal, I am just feeling very Grrr! DH worked all yesterday so I was on my own with DTs, then this morning he was supposed to get up with them so I could lie in, but at 8.30 says 'I am going to church'. Well the only reason he goes to church that early is so he can play bloody football later on. So not only do I have to get the DTs up and ready I have to take them to church later on my own and bloody run after them all morning. I really really don't think he should play football any more - AIBU? It takes up four hours of Sunday and means he wants to go to church earlier and if we have another baby next year it is going to be worse.

In the end he didn't go to church so I did get a little break and I didn't go to church either cos I needed a rest, but I was trying to do some cleaning and the DTs were in all the drawers and cupboards and putting nappies in the toilet . Anyway it's all fine now, the cleaning is done (mostly) and the DTs are in bed .

Anyway fingers crossed for next month (and I will try not to give you a blow-by-blow account of my menstrual cycle next time )

As you were ladies

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 11/10/2009 14:21

Neenz So sorry things didn't work out this month. Fingers and everything else crossed for next month. Hope your day is getting better!

Abdn Hope you have a great holiday.

Debs Very cute boots. I got ds some startrite ones and they were £36 - riduculous price but very nice!

poppy34 · 11/10/2009 14:33

hi all - been done in from jetlag/sorting things out as doing full week at work next week ( but things a bit tense re jobs at work so can't complain) and E has bit of a cold/jet lag so being a bit less happy than normal (although neenz thank god the nappies in toilet idea hasn't ocurred to her). and period just started so neenz I'll sit in the hormonal corner with you. I am contemplating giving up testing for a few months and trying to relax as I don't think that my state of mind is helping things fwiw. if still no joy by december will go to docs although not convinced that won't be motnhs of fruitless tests liek you had amber as had that before. Dh wants to try clomid but I don't want to go that route without advice really.

sponge that is rubbish re the induction -maybe they might be more sympathetic as time goes on when you go in on your next monitoring visits.

bdq that is not good re the coil issues -and I'd be inclined to agree with you that teh problems are coil related as you were not happy with it since it went in. however that is no consolation in not fixing the problem.

whinegums I'd be of the opinion to put B in his own room in the new house from the get go - I'm firmly of the opinion that E sleeps better when she is in her own room although nearby as its noticeable that both her (and our) sleep goes downhill when she is in with us (but then bad mama here had her in her own room from 6 weeks albeit it is only yards away).

ktpie has the mw said anything this time around about being induced?

debs 40 euros a bit steep. Is ethan walking now (can't believe it is first snow there but suppose it is mid october)? still crusing/hand holding here despite fact I bought her some baby mary jane crocs in hong kong which has made her want to walk more but not unassisted. She'll take a step/two but then go back to crawling/crusiing as doesn't want to fall down.

ah have a lovely holiday.

sybilvimes No I find linda annoying and was pleased that she went - tbh though there are a number of them that I am blah about as neither know nor care about them. Also imho its bloody obvious who is going to win but ricky is so good that it doesnt matter -even yesterdays performance which was obviously undercooked was still very good (thought judges marks were a bit fixed there but I suppose he has to have a bad week). missed x factor but heard the whole dannii minogue comment on radio the morning - WTF possessed her?

amber how you doing? puree

poppy34 · 11/10/2009 14:34

meant to say puree how you doing? and hi to all else

pleasechange · 11/10/2009 18:21

sorry no good news yet for all you TTC - fingers crossed for next month

whinegums, I've been thinking about moving A into his own room and have decided to do it either this week or at the weekend. I do agree with others that I'm waking him probably half the time so I really hope that he might sleep better on his own. Although I do expect strong protests at least to start with as he doesn't take things lying down so to speak!

btw A still refusing to walk except for about 5 steps a day. He is so stubborn. I think he knows how much I want him to do it

Things a bit tense in my place about jobs too

PiggyPenguin · 11/10/2009 19:14

Poppy I am so glad she went out, I found her facial expressions really annoying! I am hoping that Jo Wood goes out next week. I find her little girly giggle and coyness a bit unnerving on a woman her age. Plus I am possibly the only person on the planet who can't stand Brendan. OOo, so bitchy!

Neenz you need to start putting your foot down girl! Dh used to play cricket but a whole day out at weekends was just not on after doing 13 hours days during the week and in the end I asked him to stop.

Sorry to hear people are worried about jobs, hope it all works out.

SpiderWilliam · 11/10/2009 20:40

I can't stand Brendan either, so, Sybil you are not alone.

Sorry, not been around much over the last few weeks. It has been a bit hectic with holiday, PILS, friend's hen do, my parents visting, and then on Friday my friend's wedding. Things should be getting back to normal this week, although I am out and about quite a bit visiting folk. Sponge is first tomorrow.

Not much news from us. The wedding was lots of fun. I eventually wore some clothes that I have owned for over 5 years, and I think I looked fine. I bought a pair of spanx pants to smooth things out though. OMG they are enormous: start at the ribcage and finish mid thigh. They do work, and DH didn't notice .

Sympathies to those of you who had no luck TTC this month.

AH really hope the holiday is great. You deserve the break.

Waves to everyone else.
OK, that's it from me for now

pureeandpearls · 11/10/2009 20:53

I'll join the Brendan-loathing club. Sad about Linda, though her grins did annoy me, as there were far worse people...

Glad wedding went well Spider- I shall be investing in Spanx next year! Give Sponge a hug from me

Scan tomorrow...

bitofadramaqueen · 11/10/2009 21:50

Evening all. Just marking my place really.

neenz 4 hours for football is a lot if he's working regularly on a Sat. If he wants to go to church early why can't he take the DTs?

I've been getting quite into Twitter this weekend but feeling like billy no mates as I only have two followers. Neenz, please come follow me .

Sorry for those worried about their jobs. It's such a horrible time for so many people. I spend a lot of my time at the other side if the redundancy table at the mo which makes me . Fingers crossed everyone ok.

neenz · 11/10/2009 22:10

BDQ I'll only follow you if you put different statuses on than you put on FB - I am fed up of reading the same stuff on both

DH doesn't regularly work Saturdays, tho he does go watch Liverpool every home game (though I watch City every home game so that evens itself out). I will ask him to give up Sunday morn footie next season. I think he will, he'll be 36 next year so time to retire!

Glad you had a good wedding Spider, been wondering where you were.

Poppy, commiserations about the ttc. Did they find any problems last time? I am also a bit anxious to try Clomid again, don't want another set of DTs.

I don't like Jo on Strictly either. I love Ricky - he is fit. But then I fancy Gareth Barry too . Linda's expressions were always funny. So are Chris Hollins'.

I didn't see Dannii's comments cos X Factor failed to record (it's on again tomorrow so will watch it then), but she got a lot of slagging off on FB. The twins are bound to stay in cos although lots of people hate them some like them and they will vote for them cos they know so many people hate them!

A shock about Stephen Gately - was never a big fan of his or Boyzone. Was it drugs?

bitofadramaqueen · 11/10/2009 22:49

Neenz - I hate the Twitter FB linked updates too! Especially when they're very twitteresque with hashtags and RT's and @whoever.

Essie3 · 11/10/2009 22:55

Helloooo. Just had a fab weekend in Cardiff! Although I wanted to do loads of shopping and only did a small amount (big in spending terms but small in terms of carrying armloads of stuff home )

Really sorry to hear that there are some babies not sleeping through. I honestly didn't think Iestyn would manage until he was 18 or so. But he did eventually.
Sorry also to all those ttc but not c yet. It will come.

Neenz and Ktpie - one final word on baby size. Just realised that my miniature baby was the same size as Theo at birth. So Neenz had the equivalent of my singleton, plus some! (Iestyn was 6.1.) Admittedly, Iestyn was extremely small for an overdue singleton, but still...food for thought.

Weird news about Stephen Gately. Apparently no drugs, no drink, no foul play, not suicide. DH reckons perhaps sex game gone wrong? (Kind of hard to think what else it could be really - because people don't die of natural causes at 33.)

There were other things but it's getting late... Viva I think your hat would be one of those weird scrubs hats that look like Thunderbirds. [Essie preens in her bona fide scholar's cap-of-office] [And cheekily adds 'who's the real doctor?' ]

ktpie · 12/10/2009 07:57

Abdn - have a great holiday! Hope you get your money back as well.

Neenz - my DH goes out cycling on a Sunday morning, normally he is back for lunch but sometimes it is 3/4pm before he gets home which seems a bit much to me so I had a few words a couple of weeks ago. I wouldn't want to (couldn't!) stop him going out but it has to be reasonable and fit in with spending some time with us. Can you stress the importance of spending some time with you to your DH? Maybe suggest that if he has to work at the weekends to give the football a miss?

Poppy - the MW who mentioned the induction was a random one I hadn't seen before or since who came out when J was a few days old, haven't actually seen my regular midwife yet (only had 2 appointments so far) but have an appointment next week so will ask her then.

Allnew - good luck with moving A into his own room.

Spider - wedding sounds good, have fun visiting sponge!

Essie - Cardiff sounds good. Heard on the news this morning that Stephen Gately and his partner had taken another man back to their flat the night he died so you might be right.

I've lit the fire this morning, tis a bit chilly here. I'm loving our multifuel stove, me and J can be nice and toasty all day without putting on the central heating. Did mean DH had to spend a while chopping up wood this weekend but it keeps him out of mischief.

My Mum is coming to visit today for a few days, bit apprehensive as we always end up having massive rows. Got to try and be positive and not let her wind me up.
J is sure to be massively overexcited the whole time as she is bringing the dog and the cat. First thing to annoy me, she never asks if bringing the pets is OK. Plus she acted as if I was massively over reacting when I asked her to try and stop the dog pooing on the grass in the summer, it was really hot and me and J wanted to be out there all the time.
Also would you find it weird if someone staying with you had approximately 100 cups of tea per day but never ever asked you if you wanted one? Right deep breaths, it will be fine this time.

vivaGlasvegas · 12/10/2009 09:23

ktpie sounds stressful, hope it goies smoothly!

I can't remember what else I was going to say, brain not functioning yet!

we're off to soft play today, with two friends, which should be fun. there's a lovely new soft play place just off the M8 (near the fort Whinegums) which we tried out last week. It's only been open a couple of weeks, and was very clean and spacious when we went last week. It also had the bonus of a slightly stupid person on the door. he asked how old C was, so I told him "1". and he said "no entry charge then", which was lovely as free things are always good, but on the way out I read the flyers, and it's free for under 1s. I will report back if we have the same bonus free entry today!

I've had a stinky cold since friday, DH is now coming down with it and you'd think he was dying. I am desperately trying not to point out that I had it and I'm still here!

essie you're the real doctor, but I still know that you can die of natural causes at 33 (whether or not SG did or not I will reserve judgment on - although I think if it was a sex game they would say that there were suspicious circumstances?)

ktpie · 12/10/2009 10:20

Yes good point about SG Viva.

Still waiting to hear from my Mum, she isn't answering her phone and I have no idea when she might show up. She is always late.

Coldy here too Viva, I've spent as much of the weekend as I could get away with tucked under a blanket on the sofa. Have become a bit paranoid about migraines now, the ones I have had have started off feeling like a cold coming on so now when I feel like that all I want to do is go to sleep until it goes away, bit pathetic really!

Love the free entry story!

Mum has just rung, may turn up before lunch!

Amberc · 12/10/2009 11:54

Hello all - hope everyone is less tired than me after multiple wakings last night and a late bedtime after getting too excited about X Factor (have gone off Strictly now as much less exciting 2 horse race (both horses terribly dull ex hollyoaks actors yawn!)).

Well the good news is that we finally have a completion date - 6 November hurrah!!! I can get excited now. Mark keeps talking about what we need to get prior to moving in which is worrying as it's mounting up (they are takling washing machine and dryer and there will be no curtains etc etc). Now need to sort out a way of settling in Luke at his new nursery before starting him properly on the Monday following completion. Will be a PITA.

Re Stephen gately - it now transpires that he had a massive drinking binge and choked on his vomit. That's probably wrong as well but sounds more likely. Poor guy and his poor family.

Just found out my delivery from Debenhams that I have been waiting for for 10 days has gone to my old address and been signed for and there's nothing they can do about it. £100 of baby things. I am ridiculously annoyed and had a one way slanging match with the woman on the phone. Why didn't the guy that moved in tell them we didn't live there any more or send it back again? Tosser He is loaded so it's not like he'll nick them and put them on ebay. Maybe he'll give them back [hopeful emoticon].

So what did we all think of X Factor then? I thought Danyl was streets ahead of everyone else - he's the Leona of this show IMO but I do think that he isn't particularly likable but not cocky/arrogant, just really really good at what he does. I must also say [bitchy emoticon] that for strippers, Kandy rain were fairly chunky!

neenz · 12/10/2009 12:57

lol at the chunky strippers Amber! I thought that too. But I actually like Kandy Rain. I thought Rachel was poor, she shouldn't have even got through to the live finals. Stacey McLean who used to be in S Club juniors was miles better imo. I like Lucie, and yeah Danyl is a bit weird, it's not arrogance, more not knowing how to act when he knows he is good and is trying not to show it . I love Miss Frank too.

Yes Strictly is dull, still watching it tho.

Exciting about the house!

Viva, how dumb was that woman at soft play .

ktpie, YANBU about your mum! Not asking if you want a brew, what's that all about, and I wouldn't want her pets there either. And certainly not pooing in the garden. Try to stay calm

I thought sex game too about SG - on GMTV they said it was a 'tragic accident' so vomiting and choking could be right. I think if it was a sex game they would still say it wasn't suspicious ie if it was obvious it was that and it had been consensual and it was an accident, it's not suspicious is it.

Amberc · 12/10/2009 13:46

Was Stacey from S Club Juniors the really really skinny orange girl in the last 24?

SpiderWilliam · 12/10/2009 14:20

LOL and the spanx pants puree KTpie goodluck with your mother. Sounds like hardwork.

Amber great news to have a date for the house. How exciting to get to buy loads of new stuff.

Back from a nice morning with Sponge and Alex. Glorious autumn weather here made the drive there and back lovely. Alex and Peter got up to their usual fun and games despite both of them having bad nights, and being a bit subdued to start with. (Amber you aren't alone in this respect)

I am worrying that P is close to giving up all daytime sleeps. He has had two days recently when he has not slept all day (14 hours because of his early wake ups). Luckily he slept on the way back home today. Seeing as he had never been a good daytime sleeper, it wouldn't be too big a surprise.

We had a bad night last night. P woke at 3.30 and was very awake. After changing his nappy, cuddling him etc I put him back down and left him to it. He stopped crying before 4.30 (I think), and then all was quiet till 7.15 (a record). However when DH went in to him he was standing up slumped against his cot and he was all still and cuddly when he came in to see me. Most out of character. I am worried that I have broken his spirit in some way! Having said that he went back to normal within minutes. I am wondering whether he just stood in his cot awake from 4-7am. He is so determined that I wouldn't put it past him. However he didn't go to sleep on the way to Sponge's house, suggesting he wasn't tired, so hopefully, he did decide to lie down and have more sleep at some point.
