hi everyone

JustKeepSparkling · 18/11/2009 07:21

this ebay one isn't too pricey yet.

Argos claim to have them in stock but not when i put my postcode in.

JustKeepSparkling · 18/11/2009 07:22

this one isn't too pricey yet either.

think it might be a case of watching lots on ebay and jumping in there.

Lilyloo · 18/11/2009 07:24

Thanks all am off to wilkinsons when i have taken dc to school so will be back on at 11 ish.
If you see one just get it i will take it even if i get one too.

Lilyloo · 18/11/2009 07:26

JKS ebay will be my last resort i think, but am watching a couple of mis spellings 'hampster'

simpson · 18/11/2009 07:55

Argos showing out of stock here at H/O and at my local store...

Will ring my local toyshop at 9am

simpson · 18/11/2009 10:01

none here today

Toy shop says call every day as they don't know when they are coming back in.

Forgot to tell you what M said in physio yesterday...

Physiotherapist was trying to get M to do certain stuff ie walk to other side of room or squat down etc and was encouraging her by throwing toys across room or putting toy on floor in front of her and M kept saying very politely "no thank you" had phsiotherapist in stitches

Lilyloo · 18/11/2009 10:39

at M , thanks for ringing Simps.
This am i have tried Wilkinsons , argos , Tesco extra , Sainsburys and TJ Hughes and none of them had any

simpson · 18/11/2009 12:22

did any of them say when they were getting them in stock??

LaTrucha · 18/11/2009 12:27

Lily - Out of stock in our local Argos too. Sorry.

Simpson - How's M today? V. Funny about physio.

We often do a tidy up before bed, but I'm not totally consistent about it. She's a very helpful little thing anyway and has spent the morning trying to carry a bale of bath towels upstairs for me . She'll usually lend a hand if I'm putting one thing away in order to get another thing out, like blocks into the box etc.

Just found an ace thing of you want to get on with some cooking. Put a kilo of rice in a washing up bowl - on a mat if you have one to help with tidying up after. Add toy cars, spoons, saucepans etc and bingo! One happy toddler. I made soup and got a phone call to a friend in while she was busy.

Thankfully, not feeling so terrible today. I'm really delighted that it looks like it won't be every day that's awful. I'm even going to a group this afternoon, thanks to a frined giving me a lift.

Going to go and get anap in now though...

Oh! Anyone else got a fussy eater? I'm trying to get Sabela more comfortable with trying new things. I've beeen doing what everyone says you should do. Eg. putting a little of the new food - it's been peas fo rthe last couple of days - on her table, leaving her to help herself and making no comment whether she tries them or not (She doesn't). Also doing things like making shepherd's pie and giving her the potato which she likes but won't eat if it has any of the meat underneath attached.

I'm following all the rules to not stress her out but she is getting totally stressed about it. She cried today when she saw the peas so this is obviously not the approach to take with her.

Any tips?

What she will eat is
pasta with pesto
rice/ risotto with disgused veg in it
cheese
sweetcorn
tomato
potato
various kinds of vegetable soup
pear
apple
banana
salmon with pesto
yoghurt

Sometimes she'll eat melon, chicken and fishfingers.

Shall I just stop worrying and keep on recycling these?

madmouse · 18/11/2009 13:49

Ok so I disappear again for a little bit and come back to pages of madness about hamsters? What is that all about? Anyway Lily I had a look and it is out of stock in all the aroses near me x

Simspon lol at M's comment to the physio - mine would have loved that too.

Ginge well doen with E hope perseverance pays off.

OP posts:
madmouse · 18/11/2009 14:29

that should read 'stores'- and toysrus out too

OP posts:
fillybuster · 18/11/2009 14:53

Lucky - def change her, it wont be nice, ahe could get sore (and you def don't want her to get used to being in wet pants!).Well done Ali

Gingeme - v envious of new bed

Simpson - Tamara is also ill with a high fever and runny nose. Do we have the same child??! She was given loads of pelvic floor strengthening exercises by the physio - did them really well do start with (as long as everyone else was doing them with her!) but now refuses. The physio has decided she is a 'very strong minded child' (ie a little bugger ) and has suggested we just let her get on with developing at her own speed.

Talking of 'little bugger' - she had me up all night, was up with dh from 6 this morning (normally 7.30), dozed off on my knee twice earlier on but has been in bed since 1 (normally sleeps for 2 hours a day) and is still blinking awake right now. And I want to go to sleep and can't until she does...gggrrrrr [frustrated emoticon]

LaT - cbeebies rules here, too, esp if one of the dcs is ill...do not feel guilty!! Btw, ds went through a very picky eating stage at around this age, almost overnight went from being the-child-who-would-eat-anything to the-child-who-only-ate-fishfingers, chicken and pasta. We just kept on serving stuff that he 'wouldn't' eat, including whole meals he would barely touch, and not make a fuss if he didn't eat them (just make sure that he also got in enough things he would eat at other meals) and also mixed up his plate a bit (eg added in extra different veg on a 'safe' plate) and eventually he just started eating again. I did get him very involved with cooking, and he used to love helping and tasting stuff whilst we were making it, and that really helped with getting him to start eating more things. Good luck - I remember how frustrating it can be!

Lilyloo - Argos are showing the hamsters as available for home delivery, so that's £9.99 plus about £5.50 for delivery...that isn't too awful given some of the silly prices around at the moment is it? I've checked and none of my local stores have stock, otherwise i would pick up for you, but maybe worth paying the delivery charge for a guaranteed item?

madmouse · 18/11/2009 16:10

Lily just been to ToysRUs 10mins away to do some Christmas shopping and they say they will sell them Fri Sat Sun but you are advised to come at 9am. It is not a big deal so if you are desperate let me know and I will go Friday morning 9am x

Oh and Happy Birthday for tomorrow

Bought Nathan a pull back and release Thomas train set and some matchbox cars - plus a wooden puzzle for now (advice from portage teacher)

Oh and a little Iggle Piggle in a boat for Henry when I go visit in GOSH when he is finally there

Thanks so much everyone.
I had one in basket and checked out at boots but the site crashed and my order was lost
MM i might have to take you up on that very kind offer. My local toys r us is 50 min away in Manchester and no way can i get there for 9 on Friday with school run.
Could leave dp with kids at weekend though if still no luck.
Have found a site that is putting them online at 6pm but thinking it will crash like boots did before
Filly would happily pay delivery charge but i can't see any in stock for home delivery ? Think i am going bog eyed , been looking for two days!"!

Thanks For Happy Birthday MM

simpson · 18/11/2009 17:21

simpson · 18/11/2009 18:00

Filly - don't think lilyloo minds which one, which ever they have

I will have to LOL if L ends up with about 5 for Xmas

madmouse · 18/11/2009 19:20

Lilyloo just let me know if you would like me to go and just in case I get a choice which one is No1

OP posts:
JustKeepSparkling · 18/11/2009 19:42

Lily - the one I was watching on eBay went for 26 +3 (p&p)!!! madness.

Can't you wait til after Christmas, get her one then and call it a New Year present?! I know not the point.

LaT - T did similar, i forget when exactly, used to eat everything, then got fussy. We often gave him the normal meal and a slice of plain bread & butter 'on the side', kept the stress low as we knew he was eating something & he knew there would be something for him to eat.
He's still fussy about some stuff, then stupidly not about others.

Madmouse - aww, don't.

Actually having a crappy moment as I upset T, and him crying has set me off. He was mucking about upstairs just now, went up to settle him, he had ripped bits of the cover of a book (and an old one of DH's no less), i obv reacted and too much by his reaction
So had to cuddle and calm him down before coming down and sobbing myself.
What fun this parenting lark is.....

simpson · 18/11/2009 19:48
Lilyloo · 18/11/2009 19:59

Sorry about earlier bet he has already forgotten!

LaTrucha · 18/11/2009 20:00

I'm a great believer in a good cry.

JustKeepSparkling · 18/11/2009 20:04

in fact may go and get some Ben & Jerrys in a mo!

i'm alright now, just one of those bad days.

Lily - that sounds like a much better idea re Jan, sure they will be on people's 'crap list' for next Christmas anyway!! (not that i think they are crap, just not sure i 'get' them)
