Nice to have given someone a laugh out of it! Books can you befriend me too please? I can't cope with mystery

Talking of which Moose - are you ever going to lift that fb ban?

moosemama · 19/10/2009 21:12

Dog just google your washing machine brand and the fault and your oh should be able to fix it, they are fundamentally simple, or so I am told. My dh has fixed ours three times now despite being absolutely hopeless at diy so it can't be that difficult.

Loving the name change Spooky!

moosemama · 19/10/2009 21:15

Oh Lenni am sooo tempted to join fb, every time someone posts pics I get a trigger finger over the sign up button, but dh has already had a rant about electronic privacy this evening so I fear now is not the time.

I am in and out of the thread tonight as have posted in special needs about ds1 again and have been getting lots of support over there. I wish I could stop wobbling around about it and decide once and for all what to do. Actually I did book an appointment to discuss him with the GP last week but then we both got flu and I had to cancel it again.

EdgarAllenPoo · 19/10/2009 21:17

@dog..am a very remiss poster on the jan mums weight loss thread..(mostly lurker to be fair)

DH is waving his guitar at me....

@lenni- well that's precisely the problem, don't know at what point to intervene - she is happy to play with other kids, but some of the them aren't happy to play in her way and get upset (an well, she's gets frustrated and bashy then too..)...so am paranoid about either intervening too much/too little/at the wrong times. will be happy to get an Early years place so i can make it someone elses problem! (is that bad??...but the motivation is good: i want her to play with others without it stressing me out_)

ought to pay DH attention now, i suppose....

VerySpookyLennipillar · 19/10/2009 21:32

I kind of bring the subject up with parents I know well enough - along the lines of 'are you happy for them to fight it out' lol.

Moose - read your thread. Lots of hugs. I think you need to do what you have deep down known you needed to do for a while. Once in motion you will be less scared. It is quite important that support is in place and DS1 gets ways to deal with any issues before he goes to secondary school. Primaries are far better at helping children with ASDs or sensory problems than secondaries, on logistics alone high school is more difficult for children with those type of problems. If he has coping mechanisms in place beforehand it will really help.

Don't worry about the job application thing.

elkiedee · 19/10/2009 23:39

Moose, you could join fb under the name moosemama I think, a few people on MN have done something like that.

Hi EAP, how old is your DD? I worry about DS1 (born May 2007) but am realising that lots of 2 and 3 year olds also have issues - our toddler group today was quite quiet but there was mayhem in the toddler room mainly due to DS1 and another boy 3 months older wanting to play with exactly the same things. The other mum is a friend but I still feel quite embarrassed by the whole situation. And I was having to break off from feeding ds2 to deal with it too... Still, hopefully it will get easier.

tinkbig · 20/10/2009 09:05

morning

wet and cold here
taking dd2 to swimming lesson soon

Soccerette · 20/10/2009 12:47

hi all.

So i am very confused as some of you have changed names.

Got new HV coming to check Esme over later! Hope the little pudge gets the all clear.

Esme's stage 2 car seat arrived yesterday. Went for maxi Cosi Axiss. Did anyone else? The turning to the side is genius!!!

Right, bacon on for cream cheese and bacon bagel while titch is napping.... then housework! fun fun!

how many baby groups do others do in a week?

missjackson · 20/10/2009 16:01

Hi all....

Lenni sorry to hear about RL friend - that's horrible when you feel let down and stupid - hope you are feeling lighter and happier today.

stripey is it you doing all the running or DP? It's making me feel quite exhausted!

N is having the cutest moment, staring out of the window at the rain, resting his forehead against the glass.. OH has nicked my camera so no pics .

Mum & Baby classes - yes, I can see it gets quite sensitive once they start toddling around and beating playing with each other. N used to sit sweetly on the baby mat, and I could sit with my friends and cup of tea and have nice chats, but now he is off the moment I put him down, and I am caught between feeling I should follow him and watch out for him, and wanting the chat and cup of tea! Usually I just let him get on with it and if he cries I rescue him - but he is the youngest mobile one there, so of course it's never his fault .

soccerette was just thinking of you as was enjoying lovely cuddle with LO while listening to rain on the barn roof - hope your barn is lovely and cosy too. Car seat sounds good. We are thinking about getting one of those new rear facing car seats that last until they are 4! N has been in his forward-facing britax thing for a couple of days, and he seems to love it, but it just doesn't feel very safe to me to have him facing that way just yet. Has anyone else got one of the new seats? Apparently they are a lot safer.

tink I do 1 group, 1 music class and 1 swimming lesson a week currently - then usually another get together with some friends from the group. Have never been busier!

Must go and make meringues now... have the urge. Dance class tonight so my Mum is coming to babysit, so I like to make a nice dinner for her. Woops, N just turned the hoover on! He loves it.

PatTheHammer · 20/10/2009 17:30

Hello all, am still around just a bit side-tracked with endless packing.....................................2 more nights left in the shoebox....it will be worth it!

Have really been -banned-- asked not to use MN by DH as we are both so busy but just thought I would sneak on before I lose internet on thursday to grab dog and check details for next week. Are you still coming or are you busy with your lovely horsey??? I can't fb you my address or phone number because the messaging seems to be completely broke at the moment and I can't send any or read my inbox. So let me know and I will text you all the details (got your number I think). Hope MissJ and lenni still coming too, any idea of times to meet? Do you still want to meet at Dick Whittington's? they have some cool Halloween activities going on by the looks of it.

Gumps- glad you had good hols

Moose-are you all better yet?? And yes you must join fb under your username!

Soccer- welcome back!

at lenni's paranoia and deleting edgar from fb! about being let down by real-life friends, hope you are ok today.

MissJ- Z loves the hoover too, and the washing machine, and the dishwasher.........perhaps its all those Handy Manny episodes DD makes him watch! Enjoy dance class

Books- hope you had a good b'day....mine is still fast approaching like a large black cloud on the horizon.......

Sorry, skimread the last few pages so very behind. DH rumbled me now, as I'm meant to be changing my bank address online but doing some crafty MNetting....see you all soon!!!

EdgarAllenPoo · 20/10/2009 18:48

@soccerette - is that your 9mo check?

seemed a bit pointless really (apart fro the free books for him to eat read)

DD is 2years 3mo so quite young for the playgroup and plenty to learn... most a few months older though there are other babies that DS had a nice crawl with. still, she is mostly nice and tends to taks toys by stealth rather than violence. mostly. but its a bugger when DS is heading off the playmat and into the blue distance (or at least, the nearest colourful object)

tends to be much interrupted conversation...

ladies that live in barns... i bet there's no leaving the door open in your houses (do you live in a b...? oh.) i'll get my coat...

@lenni - don't know what your friend did, but it really sucks when things like that happen. i think it's much harder to recover from than it was before kids because you meet fewer people (or at least i have found so) no need to feel bad for having trusted someone who turns out to be unworthy - its better o do that than never make friends.

missjackson · 20/10/2009 18:54

just popping into say pat I am def still on for next week, have suggested 11am, DW place was great I thought.

Off to dance class now. edgar groan, very funny

moosemama · 20/10/2009 19:56

Hi

Just thought I'd pop in and share some good news with you all for a change.

Went to the hospital with ds2 today to see his eye consultant and after examining him they said his eyes have completely healed and are now clear and healthy!

Last time we went it was all doom and gloom and possible permanent scarring etc etc and I have been really worried about him for nearly a year now.

Apparently the pits in his sclera have completely disappeared, he no longer has blepharitis and they are really happy with him.

He still has to see the optician at the hospital about his glasses and prescriptions etc, but the consultant doesn't need to see him again unless something crops up or we are worried about anything.

On another matter. Can anyone top being rained on to saturation point 5 times in one day today? No? Just me then. I reckon I have one of those cartoon clouds hovering around somewhere just over my head.

treedelivery · 20/10/2009 20:50

Hi all!!

Look at that - I swan off for days and arrive back to good news. Yay for ds2 Moose!

Boo for saturation point. Urgh.

Off to read the thrad - but if anyone feels like a round up that would be great as no doubt dh wil want the computer soon!!

My news is I have a new hat. No huge news but it is Cath Kitson and I like it very much. Plus I can hide my greasy hair under it for the school run.
Oh - the mummy mobile, my much loved but short had Scenic is being towed to the garage tomorrow. Family found one £80 miles away that will fix it for £400. Hurrah!! So then we can give mum back her car, and PIL back their car and stop being so dependant. It's only been broken 2 months......

treedelivery · 20/10/2009 20:57

Well, I read and now am so confused that I may ramble.

But it seems Lenni needs a hug and Books needs bubba to not not NOT get the pox!

Hugs to Moose, am glad the SN boars are helping you out. x

AM very sorry to my crap attempt to catch up!!

VerySpookyLennipillar · 20/10/2009 21:30

I'm still on for next week too. Had a few logistical issues as my Mum has double booked for Wednesday and wanted to reschedule and couldn't understand why I didn't want to change dates for internet folk but I have stood firm! DH also a little about me wanting to visit my Mum when she isn't there so I can see you lot! Bless him.

Hat sounds fab Tree and big relief for you Moose. Hope the next few weeks bring plenty more good news.

I have had one of Dog's epiphanies today. Feel a huge weight off with friend. That sounds dreadful but she was dragging me down, with everything that has gone on in last few months I really didn't need anything else on my mind. I also don't think I was really helping her all that much - sometimes people need a shove more than a shoulder to cry on. Perhaps this might be her shove. She's texted today but I've tried to keep my distance, it's like one of those bad man love affairs, I don't want to be sucked back into the abyss Also I've been taking DD to play with a new playmate and it is all so uncomplicated, they just play and have fun. With my friend's DD there was always a lot of upset, and DD would always be on the end of some nasty comment or action. I'm actually angry with myself for not doing something about the whole situation earlier.

11am at Dick Whittingtons fine with me! (OK and having a paranoid internet moment again - please let there be no stalkers dressed up as welsh beauties with baby N's)

Yay to crafty MNing Pat - love it. Do more

VerySpookyLennipillar · 20/10/2009 21:40

to soccerette - lovely to hear from you. I'm not in the car seat market unfortunately due to having them already although swinging round seats sound fun. We have Maxi Cosi Priorifix ones which are forward facing isofix but DS still in his infant carrier and will be until his head grows off the top. So much more practical for me even if he is getting a bit of a struggle to lift in it.

Have seen those rear facing ones MissJ in bumpto3, do look fab, I'm a car safety maniac. After being in a bad accident as a child where a motorcyclist died on my Mum's windscreen I'm totally obsessed with it.

Tink - I go to a toddler gymnastics type thing, a regular playgroup and a music class every week without fail. I also go to a soft play thing in a local village hall quite often and I take the DCs swimming with a friend every week. We have a fortnightly library trip (mobile library) and they usually have a 'Daddy day' once a week so I can do DH's accounts from the office - although quite often recently I've taken them on trips out to meet friends and MNers so we haven't had all that many Daddy days lately. I also try and have at least one quiet day at home so DD and I can do crafts and painting in DS's naps. At the weekends we are always out at football or the theatre or making use of our National Trust membership so I try to make sure there is some quiet time in the week to let them unwind.

elkiedee · 21/10/2009 00:42

Tink, I've been going to at least one group every weekday recently, 2 some days! Plus some NCT "teas", meeting up with a friend and her 2 and 1 year old, sometimes a Saturday morning group. And there's still things I would have liked to do or go to more often but no time now. Am hoping to get to a weekday group each week now when I go back, plan to vary my day off (annual leave) so I can have a 4 day week and do something nice with Conor and possibly DS1 as well (toddler groups on Monday and Thursday, Danny turns 3 near the end of my leave year but I could take them to the under 5 groups on Monday/Wednesday/Friday still, then I'll have to go back to doing more 5 day weeks).

tinkbig · 21/10/2009 09:02

lots of your do lots of groups then.

we do a music group, swimming lesson and sing and sign in the week

mm - gr8 news you deserve some
