hi

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
elkiedee · 19/10/2009 00:36

We've sorted things out a bit but I'm still feeling sad about stuff.

dp is actually very good at doing stuff, better with ds1 than ds2 though. But he gets incredibly snappy and shouty and defensive about stuff. I'm better at coping with lack of sleep than he is, generally.

tinkbig · 19/10/2009 08:54

morning

mm - glad u r slowly getting better your partner sounds womderful
online window shopping is the best sort.
i have bought both dds xmas pressys

stripeywoollenhat · 19/10/2009 09:10

morning all

elkie - glad you've sorted things out with dh - hope it gets easier

about horses....

had dp's mother here for the weekend. thank god she has now gone home. i don't whether it's a signal that she has accepted me as a family member, but snide remarks about my weight have joined snide remarks about dp's weight... oh well, at least she lives in another country

moosemama · 19/10/2009 10:06

Elkie, good to hear things have improved. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Stripey, I have a MIL like that, she always comments on how well I'm doing losing weight, when she knows darn well that I either haven't lost any or have put some on. She spent my entire pregnancy telling me how well I was doing because I hadn't got 'that' fat! The worst thing about it is that when I first met dh I had a bad eating disorder and was seriously underweight, she knows all about it and still goes on about my weight all the time. It used to bother me, but now I just let it go over my head.

I'm feeling quite a bit better today, but still not well and have had to cancel my dentist appointment so am desperately hoping my temporary dressing stays put. When I called they said there were no more appointments for 3 weeks! Fortunately the receptionist took pity on my and fitted me in next Monday lunch time in an extra emergency slot. Good thing is that means dh can have the dcs while I go whereas I would have had to take dd with me if I'd gone today.

Now I just have to get well enough to take ds2 to his eye appointment at the hospital tomorrow. Lord I am so sick of medical appointments.

heron22 · 19/10/2009 10:13

Oh no Books, here's hoping he only gets a few spots and your little one manages to avoid it completely.

Well, I spent an hour this morning under the cloakroom sink, covered in slimy, mouldy, stinky water as it seems first there had been a blockage in the pipe, then the 's' pipe came loose and flooded the room, then whilst trying to unblock the pipe I managed to have a head to toe shower in said filthy water. Cue one quite poorly, very unhappy, mad woman sobbing on her knees in a pool of stinky water. Have just about managed to put it back togther, but its still leaking. Dh came home looked at it from the doorway and said the immortal words "I think we need a plumber". My response? "No shit sherlock!"

It was truly gross and I had to shower then bathe before I felt clean again - yuk, yuk yuk! I knew the plumbers that fitted the damn thing were cowboys, but would anyone listen to me - oh no!

Books - DD had 15 spots on day one, about 80 on day two and over 200 by day 3/4. They stopped coming by day 5 and she was clear in 10 days. Unfortunately on day 14 DS came out in spots - but that is not going to happen to you.

Dog - I am tired too. Can we moan together.

Just had a shitty shitty day. Feel very sad. Can't really tell as am worried there may be a spy but it was crapola.

moosemama · 19/10/2009 19:14

Lenni, sorry you've had a bad day. We don't need the details to send you ((hugs)).

spookywoollenhat · 19/10/2009 19:43

lenni - sorry you had a rubbish day, and that you are worried about recognition. horrible if that means you can't vent as required here...

moose, sorry about hideous plumbing incident. very brave to get involved with it - we have a rule here of not touching the plumbing after an appalling incident with a toilet cistern in our last house...

books, hope that lurgy will run its course before christening.

dog - godspeed at the parents' evening. while i am certain b has been a cherub at school, i can understand the anxiety - already feel slightly anxious about dealing with a school and c is only nine months old...

we got the mini boden catalogue in the post today. am certain there's going to be a shopping accident...

Gumps · 19/10/2009 19:50

Hi all. Back from CP and it was faberoo. Well rested and 2 nights out. Lucky me. The boys were angels and although it was a bit mental with all the family, everyone got on great and the boys loved it. Have put a few cute pics on fb and will put action shots on later.
S is 10 months today!
Right off to catch up...hope you have lots of news for me.

VerySpookyLennipillar · 19/10/2009 19:56

Gumps - those photos are unbelievably gorgeous. How cute are your boys??!

Everyone go now and hunt out Gumps pics!!! You must!

Where did you get S's hat from? I need one?

Have had some of DD's Christmas smarties and feel a little better. Thanks for the hugs Moose/Stripey. Someone in RL just did me over big style. A close friend, am pretty gutted as have been putting up and shutting up with her for ages as knew she was in a bad place. I feel really sad and lonely. I totally trusted her. Life moves on though .

spookywoollenhat · 19/10/2009 20:14

lenni - smarties are good, but some things call for a nice glass of wine... i am sorry about your friend, but you should be proud of yourself for trusting her and trying to be there for her. hopefully she'll get herself back together one day and feel absolutely gut-churningly ashamed of herself.

gumps - glad you are back and that you had a good time. can't look at your pics, but believe lenni about the cuteness

Gumps · 19/10/2009 20:17

Lenni thanks so much, BIL does take a good photo but his material is quite gorgeous . Although ds1 not so cute at the mo as STILL awake. I want x factor!
Sounds like the poorliness is still doing the rounds. Get well soon all.
Happy bday to all the October mummies too.
Wish I could get excited about horses. I find the thought of riding so romantic but the reality a nightmare!
Lenni that sucks as you are so lovely. Think hat was green baby.

Gumps · 19/10/2009 20:18

Oh yes to wine lenni - it sounds like a wine emergency!

Gumps · 19/10/2009 20:21

Still catching up.
In my experience arguements with dh's about tiredness should be avoided at all costs. No one will come out as the winner and you never see the other persons side. Agree the only way forward is to leave them with dcs for a few days. One day is not enough as it is a novelty. From a person who works 2 days being at home is much harder! Although I am feeling the emotional strain and get upset athe night before leaving them. Still really enjoy my coffee in peace and going to the loo alone and the adult banter.
Christams shopping already . I have to start late as if I start early I just buy more iyswim.

EdgarAllenPoo · 19/10/2009 20:23

hi ladies don't normally post on this one but as i'm facebooking this group thought i'd join in and play nicely.

@elkidee - know what you mean re: DHs not coping well. mine generally resorts to cbeebies much faster than i would...although people don't like to describe Dhs looking after own offspring as 'babysitting' - that's how it feels.

someone down the thread feeling lonely at school - i just went to playgroup and felt just like that..even though everyone's very nice, its such a hassle getting both of them there...i want to slump in a biscuit-eating tea-drinking heap cuddling DS and feel too drained to converse... though I go every week and it is getting better. Or bothering me less...and then there's the stress of watching DD play with other kids - with al the normal hassle over toy sharing.

@heron22
my little one is also a bugger to feed - was doing really well on mudge but fidgets so much i'd rather just shove the food in front of him and let him get on with it - i;ve been doing cold food only which he likes more, but getting enough in takes quite a struggle.

so, finger foods for 9mo? so far he likes toast and cheese on toast.

ironic adventurous witchy emoticon<

i'll check out your eggy thread tree

witchy wave at Lenni<

oh, perhaps i shoud explain i was 'opinionatedmother' (changed from oneopinionatedmother) this is my halloween name change....

VerySpookyLennipillar · 19/10/2009 20:31

at my witch hunt Edgar! One of my not so fine paranoid internet moments! I hope you have forgiven me!

Playgroups - god I remember going to some shitty ones with DD, they got better but I always felt uncomfortable when newbies arrived and got the same goldfish bowl treatment I had to endure. So catty. Thankfully found a couple of good ones and learnt not to stray. Totall with you on slumping heap like.

The toy sharing really hacks me off - I deal with it all day at home, and so many parents of singletons just sit on their backsides sipping tea and leave me to sort out their aggressive over enthusiastic children. Really really irritates me. 'Cos I don't get enough practice with dispite resolution obviously

Yep - I do that with Christmas shopping too Gumps. Am trying to be restrained this year. Doesn't help with birthdays so soon after Christmas.

Stripey - since you insist I'm off to crack open the medicinal alcohol. Thank you for the prescription.

I deleted Edgar from our fb group as thought she was an imposter and then had to go through a very elongated process to reinstate her. Still squirm about it!
