I hope that this will do you all as the last thread ran out.

Let the fun and chocolate eating commence...

Sorry I've been gone so long ladies. I've been trying to be productive with cleaning and sorting the house and what not. Plus Moo has had a cold and weird waking hours so then of course I got it too.
I'm currently in need of ideas again... Or else I'll be weaning Moo off of her mobile in the next month or so

bebemoo · 01/10/2009 15:51

I'd also like to know (those of you who have got your lo's passports....)
How do you do the blardy pictures for a baby?! my application got sent back because they weren't good enough (did them at home). It's getting down to the wire because I want to go home in Nov!

BabyBolat · 01/10/2009 15:55

Bebe - take Meg to a photo shop and they will do it for you - most Kodak stores do it and they will know which you can send and not. It's quite strict.

So, we went a-weighing today. H is now 11lb 12oz, which is an increase of 1lb 2oz since he was last weighed at the hospital 5 weeks ago. Hurrah! This is an increase on his average weekly increase, so still going gently in the right direction. The advice from the HV? 'I think you ought to think about weaning, start him on baby rice, a couple of teaspoons at a time, then pureed veg...' etc etc. I was sorely tempted to ask how likely it was that carrot puree would cause weight gain, but refrained. Instead I put my 'la la la' head on, cooed at the baby while she was talking to DH, and went on my way. I don't understand why the advice re: how to wean is not tailored to the child in the slightest, and is exactly the same at 4 months as it is at 6. I suppose HVs are very limited in what advice they can give, having to adhere rigidly to guidelines.

We've just been up to Ikea to get the bulky pad thing (cannot think of the word I need!) for the high chair, and accidentally spent nearly £200

bebemoo · 01/10/2009 16:44

congrats on the further weight gain!

dawntigga · 01/10/2009 17:21

Going off line to deal with everything I'm not dealing with by gossiping with you lot

Will be back soon.

kazkiss · 01/10/2009 18:56

Blimey 'touching all wood' the worst the babies have done so far is fall backward from sitting and shocking them selves.

Bloody hell ju I was thinking of popping to idea but you have scared me now!!! ( i think i could also spend at least £200 as i am in an organisational mood (dont worry it will disappear before i return to work!).
(ooooh and well done on weight gain!)

. Weaning is going pretty well here. we are up to breakfast (wheetabix or baby cereal) every day and lunch (usually safe leftovers from our dinner the night before i.e sweet potato, fish pie etc.)

both babies are very different though as ollie eats TONS but has to have it mushed and fed to him and Izzie eats less but has to feed herself!

kazkiss · 01/10/2009 19:01

I meant 'ikea' not idea.

and i am sure that my babies will have there fair share of knocks they do like to be quite violent and playful with eachother. i can imagine them pushing each other off the bed!

Cant believe my two are 7 months old on Monday where is time going!?>

OoOOh and in your girlie films you forgot 'sweet home alabama and coyote ugly with the most gorgeous man in the world in Adam Garcia!

Bicnod · 01/10/2009 19:15

Evening all - trying hard to catch up but you're all so darn quick

Auld, Boff and BB - I was under the impression that all babies had to roll off the bed at some stage... its a rite of passage isn't it? Unfortunately Oscar is such a lazy lump he isn't rolling anywhere yet... Glad your babes are ok.

All this talk of highchair high jinx has made me feel a bit better about repeatedly bumping O's head on the door frame when I go into the bathroom with him on my hip - I clearly have zero spacial awareness.

Swali that sounds terrifying. I'm really worried about choking/gagging with finger foods. Some other mummy mates are booking a baby first aid course for a few of us and I think I'll wait until after that to let O loose on rice cakes etc.

Auld sorry you're ill sending get better vibes x x

Bebe - how mean of the couple to ask for Meg's mobile back... did they make it clear it was on loan when they gave it to you? I don't understand why they wouldn't say yes to you buying them a replacement as Meg is so attached to it. Had a quick look on the Mamas and Papas website and quite a few of their mobiles have 'Hush Little Baby' as the tune... could it be that?

Gui - hurrah for weight gain how ridiculous that the HV was suggesting weaning for weight gain - that is so bizarre... surely they know there are more calories in milk? O the fat baby has dropped down a percentile since I started weaning...

Oscar is having breakfast and dinner now and loving it... he has porridge for brekkie, then for dinner he has so far had sweet potato, carrot, spinach, butternut squash and courgette, sometimes mixed with baby rice. He's also drinking water like its going out of fashion from a sippy tippy whatever you call it cup. He also likes drinking from a grown up glass so I quite often have dribble and baby backwash in my water these days. Nice.

Kaz - it goes so quickly doesn't it? I can't believe Oscar is over 5 months now... I was looking at videos of him as a newborn and they made me cry (soppy sod). I want another one. There, I've said it.

Right - that's me caught up... I'm off to do half an hour of pilates in the living room to follow up the good work from my run yesterday evening

x x

nutty! how did your appointment go?

conkertree · 01/10/2009 19:48

hi everyone - sorry have absolutely no hope of catching up - just read a really few posts.

Sorry to hear things are still not sorted out for you nutty - must be soooo frustrating.

would love to catch up but I really dont get time on the internet enough to keep up.

Hope all the babies are doing well and that everyone is happy.

Angus is a very happy little boy - except when Struan decides to shove him over. Thinking he's just about ready for solids as he grabbed a plum off Struan today and shoved it in his mouth.

Cant believe some of the babies are nearly 6 months old - Angus will be 5 months on Saturday.

Will have a skim of as much as I can.

Bicnod · 01/10/2009 20:09

nutty - I can't believe how incompetent these people are - how can two consultants looking at the same scans come up with different diagnoses? Where are you being treated?

bebemoo · 01/10/2009 20:16

Right I'm in the process of uploading the tune from the mobile (via video) to fb. But don't write on my main account on fb abt it as the couple could possibly end up reading abt it...

Guimauve · 01/10/2009 20:19

Sorry Bebe, I don't know the tune.

Hey Conker!

bebemoo · 01/10/2009 20:25

I honestly don't remember if they said it was only for 'loan' but it must have been the case. I just wish that it wasn't also the case that she liked it so much. I think I'll just try to get her another mobile and hope she still enjoys it.
I did think about getting another mobile and swapping the 'box' out, but the colors wouldn't match. Dunno what to do really.

bebemoo · 01/10/2009 20:29

Nutty I just cannot believe how jerked around you seem to be by the doctors It seems really strange. Hopefully it gets sorted soon with Love ;)

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 01/10/2009 21:36

Where's the video bebemoo? Can't find it?

Evening

My girls did not fall asleep until 9.45. So, so tired.

BB - You should have come round. My Mum came back from her walk with macaroons and G&B's Maya Gold. Yum.

Ju - Congrats on weight gain.

Kaz - I love the image of your two pushing each other of the bed. 7 months , where did the time go?

Nutty - Bloody hell. Fingers crossed here too for your new doctor. I wish I had some words of wisdom.

Conker - Hey there. Good to hear from you.
