By genius do you mean brat???

One I paid with debit card and one with credit card so half should be ok!

The websites say they refund so should be fine if I could just get hold of them!!

SpringySponge · 29/09/2009 17:32

I certainly do not mean brat! K is lovely

& still, how disappointing! It's really bad of them to not make it clear.

BabyBolat · 29/09/2009 20:07

Well the websites say they are genuine 100% guaranteed but as they aren't you can just tell when you compare them with the other ones I have x

The brat lovely boy is currently screaming his head off and wheezing like a 60-year-old fag-addict

Swaliswan · 29/09/2009 20:07

BB where abouts are you?

Hello hello,

Haven't been on for a while, DP has been away for a week and I have had hands full coping with two little monsters angels on my own. Also took them both to London for weekend to see DP, the whole thing was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish and we came home early DS1 was really unsettled by the whole thing and behaved appallingly throughout, to the point where I was in tears by Sat evening

Orbit took the whole thing in his stride and just beamed at everyone, thankfully.

However, we're now back in Bristol, DP is home (finally!) and things are slowly getting back to normal. Off on holiday on Saturday, hooray!

Springy, am aghast at your lack of film knowledge. Sit down in front of the telly right now.

Auld - no period here either, although have had quite a few phases of feeling quite PMT ish. Am dreading it....

Puzzle, really hope Ellen is ok. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Tigga sorry no advice about head turning while feeding - Orbit is still biting me on and off . Not so bad at the moment, but he's working on tooth number three. He is also desperate to be on the move, which means every time I put him down on the floor in a sitting position he launches himself forwards, bangs his head and screams at the top of his (very high pitched) voice.

He's doing very well on BLW - foods tasted so far:

  • porridge
  • pitta bread
  • toast and butter
  • pear
  • banana
  • carrot
  • sweet potato
  • yellow pepper
  • hummus (home made, no salt) - loves it
  • rice cakes
  • mascarpone cheese
  • pasta
  • tomato sauce
  • mashed potato
  • clementine
  • cheese
  • yogurt
  • apple puree
  • chicken (sucked it, not much interest)
  • fresh mango
  • melon
  • grapes

He also had a piece of dried mango at the zoo today - I was horrified as he sucked it all in and then looked a bit surprised. I kept a close eye on him and he chewed it for about ten minutes and then it just popped out onto his bib, looking a bit smaller and slightly battered

Trouble is, he now thinks all things that I put in my mouth are fair game - he keeps trying to grab my hot cup of tea, yikes.

Boff rubbish about menorrhagia - hope you feel better soon!

BabyBolat · 29/09/2009 20:10

well at the moment salisbury area but near to portsmouth - just down the road! My sister lives in Southampton xx

BabyBolat · 29/09/2009 20:12

WFH poo for bad weekend but yay for home, holiday and happy weaning x

Swaliswan · 29/09/2009 20:13

Just to clarify, I wasn't about to offer to get you in the bath, BB

I wonder if anyone else is very near and would fancy a meet-up?

OP posts:
Feierabend · 29/09/2009 20:13

WFH sorry to hear about your bad weekend I was gutted that we couldn't meet up. Well done Orbit for the weaning. As you have probably seen H is not interested at all. Serves me right for trying too early, you'll say :-P

Feierabend · 29/09/2009 20:15

WAAAAAAH! WHY can't DH ever cook dinner WITHOUT setting the fire alarm off!????

Feierabend · 29/09/2009 20:16

Does anyone else think that the angry smiley doesn't look angry at all, but sad? Surely they can do better than that???

Swaliswan · 29/09/2009 20:20

WFH, how much food actually stays in/goes down when you BLW? How long generally is it before they manage to swallow the food?

OP posts:
BabyBolat · 29/09/2009 20:22

Any fanjo warriors near????????

And swali, I can't believe you aren't going to come and bath me???!!!

Feieraband, my DH can't cook dinner without it taking hours, seriously - from prep to plate, he has never done it in less than 2 hours - I'd go for the fire alarm if it could mean eating earlier!!!

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 29/09/2009 20:31

Swali it depends what it is - softer stuff like banana or porridge, I think a reasonable amount goes in. He's got the hang of sucking rice cakes until they're mush, and I think he swallows quite a lot of that, and I spread the hummus or cheese on there, so he's probably taking in quite a lot of that. His poo is definitely changing, so he's definitely swallowing some.

Harder things like carrots (they're steamed but still more solid than porridge, for example) he'll chomp bits off and gum them for a while, and some will get swallowed but it's a bit more hit and miss. He isn't yet very good at moving food round his mouth so sometimes it gets stuck on the roof of his mouth, and some just falls out when he opens his mouth! He also can't get at the bit that's inside his fist when he's holding something, so that just goes on the floor when he forgets he's holding it. If I'm quick I catch it and give it back to him or eat it myself - can't abide waste

Oh he also had kiwi today - was a bit worried as it's a potential allergen, but he seemed to be fine.

Feier DS1 was completely uninterested in food for AGES - he didn't really start taking an interest until 8 months or so, some babies are just not as keen, or don't need it so quickly, IMO. Orbit has always been very much more keen on eating than DS1, even when it was just milk.

Weekend was totally rubbish, but we're home now. Phew. Met up with some friends who are about to have their second DC - DS1 was at his absolute worst at that moment, they must have though 'Christ, is this what it's like with two!' Ooops.

Swaliswan · 29/09/2009 20:33

BTW, no AF here yet either although I do periodically get dragging pains in my tummy and grumpiness that is more like PMT than general overtiredness.

I'm very excited because I've asked to have a reusable nappy trial. I'm fed up of B having a sore bottom. I rarely use wipes on her but if I do, I've found the only ones she doesn't react to are the Nature Babycare ones. I wonder if she is reacting to her nappies too.

OP posts:
Swaliswan · 29/09/2009 20:44

Thanks WFH, that's really helpful.

I guess that I should admit it...I started trying to wean B (with puree faff). The thing is, she doesn't seem to like the spoon. She barely opens her mouth for it. She also doesn't really like proper puree. She likes mash or something that has a bit of texture to it. The only thing that she has really loved so far is when I gave her a banana - not mashed, just peeled.

The main problem that I have is that her gross motor skills are a bit delayed as you would expect because of her harness. This seems to have affected her fine motor skills adversely as well. I don't know that she is truly going to be ready to wean for quite a while WRT her motor skills. Unfortunately her appetite and her enthusiasm with the banana seem to show that she wants solids now.

Fab, I hope that she is OK and that Ellen is recovering.

I'm exhausted and off to bed now. I going to dream about my reusable nappy trial...

Oh, just before I go...

My libido is worse than non-existant. It's DH's 30th on saturday and he's hinted strongly that he would like 'the gift'. If you haven't heard of it, there was a woman who gave her husband a year of sex everyday as a present and then wrote a book about it.

I'm seriously contemplating it. What do you think? Could you do it? (Pun intended )

Ooooh Swali which ones are you going to try? I'm a washable nappy addict

Have you tried giving B the spoon to hold herself? DS1 used to clamp his mouth shut if I tried to feed him, but was very happy to feed himself. Even if she can't get it anywhere near her mouth yet, it's good practice and it's amazing how quick those skills develop once they get going.

Guimauve I remembered something I wanted to mention - was it you that christened H's wandering hand when feeding the Naughty Hand? I remember laughing at that - well now Orbit has the Angry Arm as well as the Naughty Hand. When he gets frustrated with a toy or with his food his right arm jerks up and down frenetically, it's very amusing.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 29/09/2009 21:44

One good thing about the trip - nicked all the Molton Brown stuff from the hotel bathroom

Off for a bath soon.
