SuperSoph73 · 02/12/2009 16:39

Well, am going to go & start tidying up and rounding the reprobates students up so I can dash off as soon as the bell goes. Only one more day till 4.50 then clubs finish - whooppee!!

MisSalToeKisses · 02/12/2009 16:47

Night, Soph! I'm being silly arty and is making a mess Christmas cards. Need to send out today really!

Peachy · 02/12/2009 17:46

Weak coffeee? And the point of that is.....?

(Note that I am probably getting a fancier coffeemachine for Christmas LOL, I do coffee big time).

The pop up tree really si that good- we ahd it last year, lights etc all attached so toddler proof. It's quite conical which we think is cool and funky, and sort of wiggles from a point if yopu push it like a weighted toy: Bas will love it.

I used to make all my cards, even taught it for a bit, was how I got into MN properly, the craft threads but then MIL ordered 300 all different one year and it drove me mad. Now I make them if I feel like it, otherwise there is always Smiths / Moonpig LOL

MisSalToeKisses · 02/12/2009 19:08

Coffee.... true, true. You two now have me wanting some too!

And phew Peachy, 300?! Enough to push anyone over the edge. I'm not at all crafty, I might just pretend R made them, but I like doing it.

Oh oh oh, I need help!!! It's R's nativity next week, and he is... wait for it... a box. Rofl. Well, a gift, but same thing. Some way to broadway still. Aaaaaaanyway. I need to make his outfit. What on earth will I do? I need him to look cool, but have no idea how to do this. If he was a little older, could construct something with boxes, but now it'll need to be something that he can actually wear. Sigh. I would have preferred a sheep or something! Suggestions please.

SuperSoph73 · 03/12/2009 08:51

Morning.

I feel for you Sal, I'm not the least bit arty either, although did LOL at the thought of him being a box. All I can suggest is open up a thin cardboard box, cover it in wrapping paper, make a hole for his head and attach it at the sides with some ribbon. That way he'll still be able to move and you can cut it as short as needs be. Either that or attach some ribbon onto a box to make shoulder straps and he can just "wear" it. If he's got a cap you could also make a gift tag out of cardboard and attach it to the cap.

I'm sure that in no way helps but the thought's there

MisSalToeKisses · 03/12/2009 10:14

Thanks Soph - that sounds doable, thanks. I'll go to Tesco / B&Q / similar and ask for a box on Saturday morning to experiment. Wish I had my mom here, she's really good at that kind of thing!

Scorps · 03/12/2009 10:23

Mimi is a pumpkin in her nativity, they're doing Cinderella, although its on the 23rd Dec and i really want to watch...one of us will anyway! Bidding on a costume on ebay.

22 days to EDD. That's not much is it? V. scared.

I think Soph's ideas are the best. Failing any boxes, just wrap R up in metallic wrapping paper, like round his legs and torso and arms and put a big bow in his hair

SuperSoph73 · 03/12/2009 11:10

Scorps - I've got a pumpkin costume but it's got a halloweeny type face on it so not much use for a Crimbo concert really. Shame, it would have saved you some dosh

PeachyDrapedInSparklyTinsel · 03/12/2009 11:21

I'd do a box with straps too, and attach a very overdone ribbonny bow to a hadband for a hat, amybe with a great big label attachd somewhere as I don't think you need to open the box up tbh (looking at a box here next to bas...), just slice base and top off, attach christmas ribbon straps so it falls below his arms then cover. and cover. Would be tempyted to put ribbon bows on somedaps for his feet as well.

PeachyDrapedInSparklyTinsel · 03/12/2009 11:27

DS1 (ten today, happy birthday little man( is the sound engineer for his show as he didn't want to be on stage, ds2 is Father Christmas. He has toread from ascrolland weweredesperately hunting for bits to make it last night when we happened upon the free calendar from the Chinese takeaway so aslong as he doesn't open it thewrong way round it'll be fine- if he does it should bring a laugh I guess.

Not sure if I will see either as they have banned siblings and DH'sschedule is allvoer the place next week for exams. I have ordered a ticket so I an go if at all possible but really feel I am letting them down with these new rules. I can buy the dvds at£24 for the pair but ds1 won't be i it, he just wanted me there iykwim

At least he has the 1-1 whom he s great mates with

SuperSoph73 · 03/12/2009 11:31

Peachy - that's shocking, they've banned siblings, what for? Happy Birthday to your DS1 btw

I really want MIL & Sam to come to DS1's Crimbo concert but I don't have the time to drive all the way home to pick them up & it coincides with Sam's lunch and you'd have to be a brave, brave person to interrupt that

MisSalToeKisses · 03/12/2009 12:00

Oh wow, even I'm now excited about my box child little present. Thank you so much for the help. Great idea about headband - I was thinking of ribbon on his head, but haven't got as far as to the practicalities of how to fit it! The difficult thing is I can't dress R myself - I need to send the clothes in with him (nursery day next Wednesday) so that the teachers can dress him, so it needs to be quick and easy to assemble. Because I was in a small primary school, my mom was always very very involved, so this feels a little odd.

Peachy, really shocked at siblings being banned. How absurd - school concerts are supposed to be chaotic with the whole family being over excited, surely?! Any chance that they'll make and exception if you explain that you won't see ds1 on dvd? Very very happy birthday to him today, btw. x

Soph @ Sam's lunch change death wish situation.

PeachyDrapedInSparklyTinsel · 03/12/2009 12:07

No exceptions, I asked, doubly p'd off as almost every week I am with ds2'scalssreaidng in an unheated corridor for no pay at that time, so making me pay is a bit anyway IMO, not my fault that DH has almost certianly got an exam. neither is it ds2's.
I think the sibling thing is twofold-moreadults = more adults tickets sold = more money; sibling making noises on DVD = lessDVDs sold.... you get the picture?

SuperSoph73 · 03/12/2009 13:06

Mmmmm, just had my chips

Still not fair though Peachy. I also think charging 24 quid for the DVD is a bit rich as well but then I'm a skinflint

MisSalToeKisses · 03/12/2009 13:19

That's rubbish, they're completely missing the point of school concerts IMO. And yes, bloody cheek seeing how much you do for school anyway. I'm really annoyed for your sake.

Soph, yum, chips. I'm eating instant noodles. With salad cream stirred in. Gordon Ramsay, me.

SuperSoph73 · 03/12/2009 13:29

LOL @ Sal

Now I like instant noodles & salad cream, but just would not put them together Your dinner parties must be something else Sal

Scorps · 03/12/2009 13:35

Peachy that's rubbish, at our school its a free for all!

I might have chips for tea.

OP posts:
MisSalToeKisses · 03/12/2009 14:05

Hahahah Soph. Well, I have once (apparently) made everyone eat chinese stir fry with enough chilli sauce to run a nuclear plant for a year or so... I also made a "chinese hairdo" for one of the guests with the chopsticks... Now cringing at the thought, but at the time I was 20 and highly inebriated and (oddly!) my guests (half of which wasn't actually invited!) seemed to enjoy it...

Now I stick to grilled fish and steamed asparagus (style, not every time ) and hope R doesn't break things... Hahaha, how our lives change.

PeachyDrapedInSparklyTinsel · 03/12/2009 14:08

I getb told every time the in laws come up that if you want to try new exciting food you should come to mine... alst time it was boiled ham with potato gratin, dread to think what they eat PMSL!

We'vegot Christmas Pie toniight: thread on ehre the other day about nice it is (BBC food website) and ds1 wanted his fave chilken pie for tea so giving it a shot.

SuperSoph73 · 03/12/2009 14:43

Somehow (much to my delight) DH and I have got ourselves into a routine where he decides what we're having for dinner. I think it was just after years of saying to me "what are we having for dinner then" and me saying "I dunno!" he kind of got the hint and realised that if he didn't want to starve he'd have to sort it out I'm sure he fondly remembers the days when I was at home for 3 years with DS1 & absolutely everything was done for him

MisSalToeKisses · 03/12/2009 14:47

What't in it, Peachy? Give some feedback tonight, please. Lol (actually) at your inlaws. Does sound lovely though, can I come and visit?

PeachyDrapedInSparklyTinsel · 03/12/2009 15:48

Christmas pie

SuperSoph73 · 03/12/2009 16:03

Oh that sounds soooo scrummy but unfortunately you can't get half those ingredients here I think it's the only time I really get homesick any more is when I see a recipe I would love to do but can't cos can't get the stuff.

MisSalToeKisses · 03/12/2009 17:00

Ooh lovely Peachy, that sounds great. Will get the ingredients and give it a try this weekend.

PeachyDrapedInSparklyTinsel · 03/12/2009 22:41
