Bye Soph, enjoy your weekend!

BR - it's this offer. Any lodge (Pine was best available at the time as we only booked this week) midweek or weekend for £99 until the 27th Nov.

MistergodthisisSal · 20/11/2009 15:45

Well, I have to go finish packing. Have a lovely weekend, everyone. x

BunnyRabbit · 20/11/2009 15:46

Wow that's excellent. have joined they're mailing list

EllieG · 21/11/2009 14:30

Hey all!

BR - how's the arms? Any better?

scorps - sorry I missed your birthday, but since I am considerably older than you I refuse to give you too much sympathy

Molly is 5.5 g (fat feet) and has just one pair of shoes plus wellies (she likes them and says 'BOOTS! BOOTS!' when I get them out the cupboard) because I am mean and am not paying £30 a time to have multiple pairs of clarks whatevers when she grows out of them in about 5 mins

Scorps · 21/11/2009 14:35

Mimi has her clarkes boots and next trainers, not buying x2 clarkes for her at her age!

I had lovely bday. Have been offered SF jab and just really unsure.

KnitterInTheNW · 21/11/2009 16:42

I'm unsure about having it and I'm not pg, Scorps. Had normal flu jab on thursday and the nurse said I'll be invited to have the SF one in a few weeks when they get them in.

Scorps · 21/11/2009 16:47

My appt is the 14th Dec - 11 days before EDD!

I am thinking there are pros; immunity for maisie as well as me, if the others get ill i can rest easier - knowing i can look after them & maisie wont get it/be v ill/hospital etc (baring in mind she is born in depths of winter)

Only worries i can see is mercury thing for Pandemrix; well the Anti-D injection is made in the same way for Rhesus Negative mothers, and there are no ill effects from that. I am also big believer in herd immunity and in vaccination programs; my dcs have had MMR, etc.

OP posts:
Scorps · 21/11/2009 16:49

Also i know its a new vaccine not trialled in pg women; but nothing is, as its unethical, including normal flu vaccine that pregnant women have every year.

The one thing that i cannot see is what happens after; IF anything bad happened, i would die from the guilt.

OP posts:
KnitterInTheNW · 21/11/2009 17:16

I wasn't allowed normal flu jab when pg.

I think if I were you I'd ask to have it after Maisie is born. Surely 10 days won't make any difference!

Scorps · 21/11/2009 17:38

I'm only being offered as I'm pg-otherwise I'm not at risk iyswim.

OP posts:
KnitterInTheNW · 21/11/2009 17:42

lol oh... I'm not being much help then am I!

But you'll only be 'at risk' for 10ish days (give or take a week) after the jab, will it even have aterted working by then?

MistergodthisisSal · 21/11/2009 18:11

A highly pregnant friend of mine also had to make the decision, and had it in the end. Easy for me to say now, but I think I'd probably have gone for it.

I actually booked a jab for R on Monday. Called up, wanting to book it, so they said at this stage only "at risk" children. I then said that, as he gets bronchiolitis every time he gets even just a bad cold, I do consider him at risk. The fact that he's had to use various ventilators over the last year is also on record, so even though not asthma, they've agreed. It's a tough call this as there are no definite rights or wrongs, but in our situation I believe this is the safer approach. Not sure if I'd bother with myself at this stage.

Now in New Forest, and it's so beautiful - have seen loads of ponies (obv), huge pigs and some deer. A little rabbit was sitting on the patio this morning.

Re Sandy Balls so far - really lovely lodge, so warm and comfortable. R however didn't sleep much last night, don't know why! So we're a little shattered. I sent dh to spa for a surprise massage - the poor man looked terrified when he left here! He needs the rest though, it would do him good.

Scorps · 21/11/2009 18:42

Knitter - i think my main concern is Maisie, and any immunity i can offer her through having the vaccine, especially as she has siblings that attend nursery and school etc. The immunity begins straight away; and hits its peak after 14 days apparently; i could still be pg, but if not she will get full benefit through my breastmilk anyway.

I am more swayed towards than not; i trust my MW and GP is family friend, so would say on the quiet if dodgy, I'm sure. I'm going to see him next week anyway, and MW, so will ask.

EllieG · 22/11/2009 20:34

Molly should have had the jab last week but she was poorly so couldn't and I;ve been sent through one for next week. I was offered it and said no, I never get the normal flu jab so I'll take my chances. I think I want Molly to have it but I keep changing my mind because people keep telling me 'Ooo it's very untested are you sure?' and then I feel like a bad mummy. But I don't want her to get flu.

Still sniggering at sandy balls am afraid

Sal - you would love Butlins it's chavvy very for the masses (kids loved it but so not my cuppa tea lol).

Sounds like you had a lovely time at Sandy Balls

OP posts:
MistergodthisisSal · 23/11/2009 12:20

See Scorps, that's why I doubt whether I'd do Sandy Balls during holidays - I like the facilities, the accommodation, the location... if only it could only be us there, it would be perfect! (Disclaimer: I don't hate other people!)

Well, sf jab off for the day. R's still coughing a lot, but no more throwing up this morning (3 times last night!) Poor thing.

SuperSoph73 · 23/11/2009 15:05

Afternoon all.

Sal - pleased to hear you had a nice time but sorry to hear that LO was so ill. Hope he perks up soon. I'm with you on the holiday park thing. We're going to one in the summer but the week before the schools break up so hopefully I'll be able to cope better The boys will absolutely love it I'm sure as there seems to be loads for them to do, I just hope us grown-ups can adjust!!! We're going to Sandy Bay (not Balls) in Northumberland

Scorps - pleased you had a great birthday. I don't envy you having to make the decision re the SF jab. However, I'm sure your GP (especially as he's a family friend) and MW have given it serious consideration. Even though we have had cases here it's not even been mentioned to us & I know in England parents with kids with Downs Syndrome are at the top of the list. I'm not sure whether to phone and ask or not. There are 11 kids off in DS1's class today. I'm dosing him up as soon as we get home as he started coughing again this morning.

Ellie - how's it going? Any more news on the house?

MistergodthisisSal · 23/11/2009 15:30

Soph, Bays does sound ever so slightly more hygienic, doesn't it?! Ah, I'm taking the stance now that, even if the holiday type would have been my idea of hell, R being very happy kind of cancels out the hellishness! Just think how relaxed you'll be when the boys are having a royal time!

R's a little better today. He's slept loads, but I'm letting him, even if that means he won't be too tired tonight - I think his body needs the rest to recover. He hasn't been sick again, which is a great relief!

I want to make something nice for dinner - needs to be comfort food... Saw a thread re a chorizo stew the other day that sounded quite nice - off to go search for it.

SuperSoph73 · 23/11/2009 15:36

Sal - exactly I may even get some time to myself I always just let my boys sleep when they're not feeling well & they always seem to sleep most of the night.

Mmmmm stew, we had that on Friday, scrummy!

Scorps · 23/11/2009 16:40

Yum to stew, I love it but dh hates it.

I have more or less decided to have the vaccine, I have read alot and I still think that the risk of SF to me and my family is higher than the vaccine for me. Iyswim. It's a balancing act!

EllieG · 24/11/2009 09:02

Hey all -

sorry to hear R not well sal, hope he's feeling a bit better today, poor mite. Have a

House is a nightmare, estate agents are the spawn of the devil, but hopefully should all be sorted today and we will move on friday. And then I will have a nervous breadkdown.

MistergodthisisSal · 24/11/2009 10:37

@ Ellie having a dedicated slot for her nervous breakdown. Let no-one say you're not organised!

It is good news however that it should be sorted today. Hang in there! Thanks for , am now having coffee with...

Well, all that sleep seems to have helped, because R had a relative good night (no way near sleeping through, but I have now come to accept that that is not going to happen this side of 18 years...) His chest fine - still a little chesty cough and runny nose, but not that bad "can't breathe" type.

I quite fancy going to the Christmas market at the South Bank for an hour or so, but in two minds with the weather. Went last year - and was only really a couple of tables with stuff on it, but I did get R some really lovely wooden toys, which I'd love to do again.

ThePFJ · 24/11/2009 11:54
