If I ever win the lotto, I'm having this cradle for first couple of months. I did actually consider it for R (being pfb and all), but went for normal cot in the end and soft moses basket for the start as we got that as a gift.

this is really funny though, hahahah. It's a box, honestly.

Love those pyjamas, Scorps. I am now convinved I'm a big fat slob, because if I remember correctly, I wore drawstring yoga-pants, nothing remotely sexy. You just wait, next time I'll (attempt to) be stylish and sexy.

Oh Knitter, congrats!!! That sounds perfect, am so glad for you!

Hmm, my first day home. Well, I have already answered the phone as my old workplace, but except for that, all good. Have washed 3 batches of clothing / bedding etc, played with R, cooked him lunch etc. Then he went for his afternoon nap and I've been browsing the internet thanks to Scorps to look for a carseat for the plane.

R was supposed to be a Bopping Bunnies (music) now, but he's got a bad cold and cough, so I've decided to let him sleep. He was up which felt like all night yesterday, so must be tired.

MistergodthisisSal · 05/10/2009 14:32

Hey P, sorry, I typed so slow I completely missed you there!

Scorps · 05/10/2009 14:32

I should do the unsexy look, maybe DH will back off (he has a 'thing' about pregnant women....)

Sal your first day sounds very good. Though you are naughty to show me things for babies when i'm trrying to resist big spends as no more babies for me. dd2 has a mini stokke crib to go into.

OP posts:
MistergodthisisSal · 05/10/2009 14:34

Scorps · 05/10/2009 14:36

lol at the box, I very nearly bought the mothercare version of that for George (it had pretty cirles all over it!) but then I decided not to, in case he was a pukey baby. Soggy pukey cardboard next to your bed, nice!)

PeachyTentativelyPosting · 05/10/2009 14:42

I nealry bought an Amby hammock for Bas when he wasn't sleeping well.

Sorry but PMSL at that GRACO swing- WTF? Looks like some kind of stairlift meets carrycot meets robot confection!

Scorps · 05/10/2009 14:44

lol P don't hold back i thought better for safety? Or no?

Scorps · 05/10/2009 14:45

MistergodthisisSal · 05/10/2009 14:47

Oooh, love it, Scorps!

P, hahahahaha. (Sorry scrops - it is a little bit, uhm, well, you know )

Knitter, see I can see the point of a cardboard box crib when you think of the environment and everything (but I'd be swayed by idea of pukey soggy as well) - but to pay £75 for a cardboard box - that's what made me crack up laughing, hahaha. Crazy.

KnitterInTheNW · 05/10/2009 15:00

The mothercare one wasn't that much!!

MistergodthisisSal · 05/10/2009 15:08

Yep, exactly - I'm strangely ok with the idea, but not if it costs that much!!

SuperSoph73 · 05/10/2009 15:11

Afternoon all you lazy mums busy SAHM ... am only jealous Have to go for an "interview" with Sam on Friday to start his Atencion Temprana, which I think is like portage (although not 100% sure what that is tbh ) Hopefully he'll start next week. It does mean that I'll have to cut his other appointments down to only twice a week but I just can't afford to have any more time off work

Sam crawled backwards on Friday and got himself stuck under one of the cots at nursery - bless him. Even though he seems to be going the awkward way about it at least he's moving around independently

DH is back from his week away so it was nice to get a lay in & cup of tea in bed on Sun morning Bit of a bummer having to share the bed again though! Am arranging a night out on Saturday & staying at a friends so I get some me time before he goes off again.

SuperSoph73 · 05/10/2009 15:17

Forgot to say - it's DS1's birthday today. I made a cake and he iced and decorated it & his class should be munching their way through it as we speak Unfortunately though towards the end of lunch break DS1 was haring round the playground, tripped and cut his knee so there were a few tears Hopefully the cake tasted nice enough for him to forget about his knee!!!

MistergodthisisSal · 05/10/2009 15:18

Afternoon, Soph. I'm def going through as lazy mum today. Aww, bless him! Good that he's moving around now - he must love it.

I know what you mean re bed sharing. I always hate the first night when ds is away, but as soon as I've come to love being able to spread myself across the bed, it's back to "my side" again. Gmpf!
How long will dh be away for next?

Scorps · 05/10/2009 15:19

Sorry Soph i don't really understand Sam's new treatment thing? I am interested though. Blesshim at crawling backwards

nobody likes my babyswing? i thought it was nice! I'm just worried Mimi will tip up a smaller chair.

Does seem to be like portage, which in turn AFAICS is like the bibic therapy we did- about brain hemispheres and moving in optimum ways etc. Supposedly portage is very good indeed.

EllieG · 05/10/2009 15:47

Bollocks bollocks bollocks didn't get job I wanted - the guy just emailed me to say they didn't get the funding agreed so there is no post. Though there is a part time one and would I be interested in that, I said no, rather curtly cos I was pissed off after being told it was a shoe-in and now it isn't. I should've known, they always do that. Bastards.

Sorry for all the swearing. God, I could cry, I really thought I was out of here.

Scorps · 05/10/2009 15:50

Sorry for you Ellie. Are you really that unhappy at work? I suppose you are looking elsewhere. Love and ice-cream for you.

OP posts:
SuperSoph73 · 05/10/2009 16:06

Oh Ellie, sorry to hear about that

Peachy - hi there! That sounds about right. The reason I'm not 100% sure what it involves is that it's all been explained to us in Spanish (obviously) and I now just need to find out exactly what portage is in English so I can see whether it's the same. Hope that made some sense LOL!

Sal - he's away for only 3 nights from the 20th this time. He gets back on the Fri and then my mum and step-dad turn up on the Mon ... can't wait

Scorps - will try & find something online so I can explain to myself!!! LOL

MistergodthisisSal · 05/10/2009 16:06

Oh Ellie, I am so so so sorry. Bastards indeed.

SuperSoph73 · 05/10/2009 16:09

Here we are Scorps, this is what it's all about!!!!

Portage is a pre-school home-teaching scheme for special needs children and their families. It is based on the common-sense principle that parents are the key figures in the care and development of their child.

The emphasis is on the positive - finding out and building on what a child can do. Activities are then designed to boost the child's development in those areas where help is needed - from very early motor skills to the more complex task of using language.
