momimo I think they wake as they just need more milk. I can't rememeber the exact reason and can't check now as book is with pal, but its just milk they need till 6 months. Or maybe its tummy ache like I think R has.

Hope you have fun at Elbow. We're off to see COldplay tomorrow.

pulapula · 18/09/2009 15:58

I can't wait to wean DS2 as i'm sure he has tummy troubles from milk which might be eased when he has some food. But i will wait til he's nearly 6 months like i did with DD and DS1. I also agree that babies don't need more than milk in the first 6 months.

As for night waking, I'm sure my DD and DS1 started waking more around 4-5 months, when we decided to ditch the dummy as we felt they were waking up for it.

I took DS2 for a photo session today- she took some nice photos although not lots as he has been really grumpy today (poo troubles) so wasn't offering many smiles and got fed up after about 10 minutes.

Belgianchocolates · 18/09/2009 16:06

I just looked on FB and my ex ap tagged me as "The grinch" on a name a cartoon application thing. was I that horrible? Did I steal her christmas last year?

Tummum · 18/09/2009 16:27

Belgian at "The Grinch" !

for Elbow and Coldplay concert attenders.

Hope the packing is going OK Looby

Been a hectic week this week, G has been up 3-4 times a night which is blimmin' nightmare. I am so tired I am getting rather grumpy with DDs. It doesn't help that DH is away all week, so I am the only person sorting everyone out. Will stop moaning now, am boring myself let alone you lot!!

llareggub · 18/09/2009 17:32

Right. I really need to turn over a new leaf.

DH and I were sitting down in our living room ignoring the mess when our local vicar popped in for a chat. We were very indeed. Starting tomorrow this house is going to be tidy!

I ordered the Gill Rapely book too and I think I've been convinced.

DH is off to Goodwood tomorrow and DS1 is with his grandparents so I am having a day of cleaning and tidying. I might take DS2 for a swim at some point too.

Tummum how did it go yesterday?

Belgian I'm shocked at the carseat. DS1 stayed in his maxi cosi carseat until he was 13 months old.

Belgianchocolates · 18/09/2009 18:04

llare I'm shocked too. With ds and dd1 I had a britax and that lasted much much longer. The m&p seems to have much shorter straps. She's still got plenty of growing room by her head IYSWIM.

Tummum · 18/09/2009 18:18

Llare the work meeting went well. Really well, actually. Looks like the new job are interesting, and the team have a strategy and some money to spend (something my previous job didn't have) so I've decided to put my own business on the back burner, and focus on work 4 days a week there to see how it goes. I'd be daft to give up the opportunity to work for a new boss on a new team doing a new job in a new location IYKWIM! The old job was rubbish, but it feels like a different proposition this time. I also feel pretty relieved to have made a decision, so I can now focus on enjoying the rest of my maternity leave.

FiByTheSea · 18/09/2009 20:08

haircuts i think it's time i went and got my 'do' sorted as it's looking V wild and untamed these days. I last went for my birthday in may last year

i've got to blitz our flat over the weekend as the estate agent is coming to take photos for us going on the market and need to be in top viewing condition monday pm.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 18/09/2009 22:11

Ha Fibytheseawithunkemptmermaidtressesorwouldthatbethebeachbabelook? I last had a haircut over 2 years ago. So there.

I did cut my own hair on holiday in desperation though. It's all wonky but I can't be arsed getting it cut as I always wear it in a ponytail

Crazy Keith is settling in well but keeps farting usually on my mum .

My mum's driving me insane. I want to cry. She's here until Thursday.

Oh DD2 is calling me.......

Still, the girls are happy to see her .

My 'do' grumpy is definitely of the can'tbebotheredinthemorningtoevenbrushsaidtresseseverydayandtiemyhairupinstead

FiByTheSea · 18/09/2009 22:32

been reading up on nova scotia again over the last few days... my brain is beginning to melt away with the overload of info. DH & I have decided that if our flat sells then we'll put pretty much all of our stuff into storage, pack the essentials, get on a plane and try living there for 6months! DH has told his work that he wants to take a career break if/when we sell so at least he'll still have a job to come back to if we don't like it for some reason or they refuse our permanent residency application...

flippineck · 18/09/2009 22:38

Evening all!

I've missed loads of chat again, sorry.

Elbow -

belgian - car seats, nightmare!

Everyone - hello!

Feeling dead pleased with myself, managed to get my eyebrows waxed yesterday, I don't look like a werewolf anymore. And I bought two pairs of jeans (size 12, yay!!!) in the Gap denim event thing.

A fine, DD1 is toddler from hell again. Why won't she sleep during the day? She'll tell me she's tired, so I say lie down quietly then (or offer to lie down with her if A is asleep), but she just won't. So at bed time this evening she screamed for 45 minutes because she didn't want to get out of the bath. Aaaargh, give me strength. Or gin.

Belgianchocolates · 18/09/2009 22:50

flippin I think gin's the better option I remember the to awake for a nap, but then child from hell come evening scenario very well. It'll pass, honestly. In the mean time, as you said, there's gin. Hurray for the size 12 jeans btw. I urgently need to get myself some more jeans too. I need to stop spending on slings/cute baby clothes if I want to do that though.

fi grumpy There was I thinking that my 6m gap between cuts was bad. I think dd1 hasnt been in over a year. I've cut it twice so far

fi Your plans sound so exciting. It seems to be going so quick too.

flippineck · 18/09/2009 22:58

I'd forgotten to say that I got A weighed this week, she's now 13lb 10oz, and firmly settled on the 25th centile; I got her length measured too as I had no idea how tall she is, she's never been measured. I think she's 64cm, whatever it was it's on the 75th centile - so tall and slim just like her big sister and her dad.

No HCPs seem to have batted an eyelid that she's dropped from the 75th to the 25th, which is good I guess, and I'm not worried about her (she's happy, wees a lot, sleeps well etc) but I'm just a bit surprised that no one has commented on it.

FiByTheSea · 18/09/2009 23:28

flippin they won't be worried about A prob because she's settled on a line? Our DS dropped a few centiles and 'found' his own and stuck to it too.

belgian in some ways I feel it is going fast... like the investigating, planning and decision making. But in terms of selling up, deciding which emigration stream to try and filling out of those particular forms is not really happening at the moment. I'm off to the post office probably won't get a chance until monday to get passport forms for DS & G. Then need to get an appointment with the bank to see if we can get a small loan to go out there for a holiday/reccie over Christmas/New year. I figure if I like it in the winter i'll like it the rest of the year too?!

Belgianchocolates · 18/09/2009 23:29

flippin I looked through my dd1's red book the other day and she did the same. No one ever said anything. Maybe we've got sensible HCPs who look at the overall picture, rather than just the weight.

Right. Off to bed now. I meant to go half an our ago, but my fingers seem glued to the key board and mouse

pulapula · 18/09/2009 23:38

Evening all,

flippineck- how old is your DD1? My DS1 is at the might be dropping his nap stage- he's 2.3, but we put him in his bed every day at 1pm for a nap, and maybe every other day he'll sleep. Sometimes he'll drop off after an hour or so, so i tend to leave him til after 2pm as i need a rest too! When he does sleep, I often have to wake him at 4pm so i get a nice long rest . Shame that DS2 is back to his 30-40 mins naps again after a few days of good naps .

Well I should hopefully see my new nephew tomorrow. My sister should be discharged tomorrow- she hasn't been too well. She has really swollen legs apparently but hasnt got support stockings and was told it could be 8 weeks before they go down

ladyhelen2 · 19/09/2009 10:03

Four hours to go to a child free afternoon and evening and a bit of Coldplay, JayZ and Girls Aloud........
Sorry to rub it in ladies. Am JUST SO EXCITED!!!!

Am sat here with a lovely skinny latte and splashed out on some choc chip dippers from M&S. Can I just tell you, they are lush. Thats breakfast then!

Hope you all have lovely weekends.

FiByTheSea · 19/09/2009 12:43

ladyh I was content with my lazy morning until i read your post! but on the plus side ds did a wee on his potty.. the 1st time in 4 months of encouragement :-) hopefully this is the start of more..

pula glad to hear your sis and nephew are hopefully getting home today.. i had the swollen feet with ds.. it's a pita. bf will help bring them down if i remember right.

sausagenmash · 19/09/2009 17:49

Bonsoir just popping in to say wotcha - have been at my parents sorting out wedding malarkey - am still here - and can never get to the pc. Am back home tomoz so will do a proper catch up then. Byeeeeee ooh x factor tonight!!!

pulapula · 19/09/2009 17:52

Hello all, just back from visiting my sister and new baby . He is very cute and sleepy and quiet, not like my DS2 who grumbled the whole time .

I found out that her labour started on the rest day after 3 days of failed inductions. She had her waters broken and was put on a drip and had an epidural in the early stages. They'd put a catheter in, but baby's head was pressing on this so it wasn't draining, so she was basically filling up. When they realised this they had to go for emcs. She then had a nurse with her round the clock for 24 hours or so - i guess because this was pretty serious. She still has swollen legs and feet. She has also not looked at her scar as she is very squeamish. As her DH doesn't drive and they live in a rural area on a very steep hill, she is quite cut-off atm, so i will see if she wants more visits when she is up to it, and i can take her out to a baby group or shopping.

FiByTheSea · 19/09/2009 19:08

pula your sister had a rough time for her 1st thank goodness they realised what was happening. she'll be relieved to be home and recover in comfort.

FiByTheSea · 19/09/2009 19:11

she's also lucky to have you nearby too

pulapula · 19/09/2009 19:41

Hi fi- yes i think she was upset as it wasn't how she imagined or wanted it to be. But seemed glad to be home, and her husband only works a few hours a week so he will be around a lot to help her. I am about a 40 min drive away so not too far, but not round the corner either.
