SpangleMaker · 17/09/2009 22:19

Grumpy Keith - that's genius I am so I really miss our cat & look forward to when we feel the time's right to get another one.

Penelope Wensley... I know, I couldn't believe it when I saw the invitation. She was very lovely and dignified and I didn't quite dare to mention the name thing. (just googled & she's govenor of Queensland now) It's quite annoying actually because I can't now use her name for the heroine of the novel I will never write.

llare I think you meant momi with the George thing. My brother is George (and it's H middle name) so it won't be endowed on any pets. The Bhuddism book sounds very interesting.

llareggub · 17/09/2009 22:27

SOrry Spangle that's what happens when I try to engage my brain to remember who said what!

I love the name Penelope too...

Jael · 17/09/2009 22:50

Just popping on before bed, I'm sooo tired today.
Belgian I don't even know where the allergicness to the cats came from, but I'm 100% allergic to them it breaks my heart, but we'd never get rid of them, and it's so strange that it only happened after DD was born, I was fine during my pregnancy their house is very nice though, and very warm for them when it's winter DD was just ready to learn thing's, today she's been doing adding and taking away up to 10 with me, i'm running out of thing's to do though, especially with having J now, I don't want her to get bored, we like to spend half an hour everyday doing something "writing" related or "maths" related.

Spangle If you're not busy, let me know when you're free and we can try and sort out meeting up for a while if you like. I can suit you, I can just bring J and meet on a day when DD is at nursery, or I could bring her along too, it's up to you.

Nite all, hope all our babies have a nice long sleep...I say this because I know mine won't... he's still having to 7oz feeds, one around 2am, the next at 5am XXX

Momino · 17/09/2009 22:54

jael, agree with you about Collies being loveable .

Momino · 17/09/2009 23:16

keith. perfect name.
hey, we've gone back to 'normal' text. so our bold has gone back to bold.

muddleddaizy · 18/09/2009 04:51

Hi there, ds2 is awake and squealing again!! [sigh] He's also rolling over and getting annoyed - why won't he sleep?!

Grumpy had a friend with a cat called Ken. Love Keith!!

Sorry this is a hit and run, ds2 is now crying. Hope everyone is well...

LoobyLou36 · 18/09/2009 08:11

"keith" great name grumpy

your village sounds lovely belgian

Jael you're so good teaching your dd maths I used to do that when my DSD was young and it really helped her so must remember when M gets old enough.

think M is coming down with another cold she was coughing quite alot in her sleep, altho she seems quite bright in herself.
Also her poo has turned green and looks all phlemmy (sp?) sorry TMI

I must sort out some clothes for hols bit limited on some things - I usually wear strappy tops but this would involve pulling down the top to feed - bit too exposed? could drape a scarf/muslin over?

On the beach - bikini and sarong so easier.

Writing list for M's stuff as I speak.

Actually might not have much room for my stuff...

LoobyLou36 · 18/09/2009 08:20

M is watching Baby TV whilst I eat breakfast - she loves it

FiByTheSea · 18/09/2009 08:37

hit and run post from me too.. we're all full of snot goblin too.. G even has the green poo.

grumpy love keith and atticus catticus :-)

belgian yay! delighted your new life has been so successful so quick

runningmonkey · 18/09/2009 08:54

Hi all
v busy few days and off to Cardiff for my baby bro's 21st today.

Loving the cat names. Dh wants a cat and if we get one it will be called john squire apparently!

Sorry to fi n loobs with lo's with colds. Hope they get better soon.

Have a fab weekend all x x

LoobyLou36 · 18/09/2009 09:14

we are off to Majorca on monday and I've been putting together a first aid kit:

for M:
calpol
thermometer
saline nasal drops
vapour rub

have I forgotten anything?

Tummum · 18/09/2009 09:20

Looby - would suggest bongela too, just in case

LoobyLou36 · 18/09/2009 09:24

thanks tummum
my stoopid baby brain - she's already teething

LoobyLou36 · 18/09/2009 09:25

better take paracetomol as well (for DH's hangovers!)

Belgianchocolates · 18/09/2009 09:41

Sounds about right Looby. Have you got nappies, wipes, plenty of baby clothes and the ever so versatile muslin squares too.

We're having a slightly quieter day here today.

I think the bottle problem has started here again. I tried C with a bottle again (having faithfully done it 1-2 times a week since she was very little) and she wasn't having it this morning. I must say that last time she was struggling a little. Just as well I kept those breastflow bottles just in case. I'm trying C again in a bit, just in case she wasn't hungry enough. This is really annoying. Ds did the same at 4m old, but back then I thought it was because I hadn't kept up his practise, IYSWIM.

I've also encountered another problem due to C's size. Her car seat is only just right at the moment. The straps are as long as they can be and that's without any thick winter clothes. I can see myself having to by a big car seat that can go forward and rear facing, because she's really too small to be forward facing soon. If I'd know this would happen I would have gone straight for that type of car seat in the 1st place.

Right C is definitely hungry now. Will try again with a bottle.

pulapula · 18/09/2009 09:54

looby - i also suggest metanium or sudocrem for any nappy rashes. Metanium is much more effective IMO. Teething powders are great too.

Jael · 18/09/2009 10:11

Looby I'm very of your holiday lol I hope you have a wonderful time

We haven't been able to afford a holiday this year what with me being very poorly, and DP having to take all his "holiday" to look after me and the DC at home.

Another quiet day here for us, DC's nanny is popping round in a short while, so I'm trying to make sure the house is tidy

I don't know what's going on with J, he woke for a feed at 4am, and he's still asleep now, it's 10oclock! What should I do?

Belgianchocolates · 18/09/2009 10:22

jael Enjoy it while he's sleeping. . Hopefully he'll do his 6+h stretch overnight soon.

looby First aid kit, not general baby kit. Anyway, what you said sounds right and I second pula's suggestion of a nappy rash cream.

Well, so did take that bottle after a little protest. I'd managed to express 4oz and after that she had both boobs 2. I wonder how much that would have been in oz all together.

Momino · 18/09/2009 10:52

looby/pula, must try metanium. i also found teething powders were great.

Jael, sigh. we can wallow (sp) together at looby, we're not going on hol either. have to finish our kitchen 1st and have run out of £ for that so not sure when we'll be able to go anywhere.

Belgian, glad C took a bottle. wouldn't you love to know how much she took? BF is such guesswork.

fi/looby, hope LO's feel better soon.

running, happy bday to your bro and have a good weekend.

I'm hoping to meet ses in 10 min as she's visiting a friend in York wh happens to be a friend of mine as well (we discovered this a few months ago; small world).

try to log back on later. hope you're all having a good morning.

Jael · 18/09/2009 12:28

Momino I wish there was someway I could get up/down to you lol you can tell I don't drive I'm sure my DD would love playing with your DC.
I've only ever been to Yorkshire once with DD when she was about almost 2, we took her to that museum for children in Halifax, I loved it more than her! I want to go back again, but DP says it's too far to drive especially with J and petrol prices he wants to wait until J is a little older. FIL is forever in York on business though, that's how he manages to drop in on us regularly, because they live in London, but he's up every other week for a meeting in York, I wouldn't know whereabouts though XX

ladyhelen2 · 18/09/2009 14:01

Afternoon all.

llare LOL at your DS taking photos of his poo! Maybe he's Damien Hirst's lovechild??

grumpy loving the name Keith for your cat. I know its not everyone's cup of tea giving your pets human names, but our cat is Dave. it really suits him and it raises a smile with everyone.

looby have a lovely hol. Try and get some "me" time if you can. AN hour on the beach with a trashy book will do you the world of good.

jael don't fret about being a SAHM/WOHM. Gosh at 22, you have AGGGGEEEEES to decide what you want to do. I wish I hadn't decided at 21 what job to do so take your time and enjoy your time with the kids. Your DD sounds like a realy bright spark too.

Anyone heard from dandy? Is she on hol? She doesn't seem to have posted for ages.

I have lent my Gill Rapley book to a friend with twins. I must keep myself in check when I'm talking about it as I know I probably get a bit preachy about it but as the book kind of explodes all the myths about why people feel the need to wean early (the waking up after sleeping through, he's abig baby, he's a little baby and so on) I am finding it hard to not to get preachy about it!!

R has been waking up in the night for the past few nights and I wonder if he has a bit of diarrohea as his poo is really really watery and very very yellow. He woke at 3.30am this morning. Cried so I went in and gave him a cuddle and he promptly did a mahoosive squirt so I think maybe tummy ache woke him? The pooing in the night has happened for the past 4 nights too. So I hope it will pass in time.

Belgianchocolates · 18/09/2009 14:34

ladyH How annoying the pooing in the night thing. I hope his tummyache goes soon. C went through a pooing in the night and leaking poo all over her sleeping bag stage while on holiday. I spent a fortune on washing machine tokens I get a bit like you when it comes to weaning too. The Gill Rapley book is just so good. As for big babies, they don't come any bigger than C. She's a living example big babies can be perfectly happy with just breastmilk.

I've been looking at birth to 4y car seats. My are they expensive! What annoys me is that C still fits perfectly well in her car seat. Her head is not sticking out from the top or anything, but the straps are just too short and I can't lengthen them anymore. Maybe something to complain to mamas and papas about.

Momino · 18/09/2009 15:03

Hi all.
just met ses and O who are both lovely and O is so cuddly and delicious (sadly didn't get a cuddle 1st hand - too busy faffing, i forgot!). it was so good to meet yet another MNer who is as nice as in RL as here!

Jael, somehow, someday we'll meet, just wish it could be soon

ladyH, i did BLW but without the book so my boundaries were quite relaxed. i really want to readthe Rapley book though and would love to know the reasons behind babies waking up after sleeping through etc.

belgian, i would complain to m&p as car seats aren't cheap and one would have hoped C could have used hers a bit longer than 4/5 mos

gotta run ladies. off to manchester to see Elbow , chester zoo tomorrow, be back with you after the weekend.

have a good one all! xx

ladyhelen2 · 18/09/2009 15:05

belgian maybe we can be BLW preachy partners!! I just wish I'd researched it with DS1. Of course 4 years ago it didn't have the BLW name and I think I mentionned that a girl in my ante natal group did the method with her DS and the rest of us thought she was bonkers. If only I'd known!!

And oh god the poo in the sleeping bag is happening here too. Delightful.

Mamas and Papas really seem to lack common sense with some of their eqiupment so am feeling your pain there too, belgian. Its so annoying as you'd think they'd have put some time and effort into researching their products for the prices they charge. I'd def complain. You never know you may get something out of them.

We had a M&P bouncy chair with DS1. Bought soley as it "looked nice"!. What did I know then? It was terrible. It was at such a high angle we couldn't use it till he was about 3/4 months old as it was unadjustable. A waste of money. Still, sold it on ebay as mugs people will pay for the M&P name (sorry belgian I mean no offence to you!!!)

Having a quiet hour here. Toy Story 2 is on (haven't seen it for a while. It really is very very good, isn't it) and then we're off to Socatots for 4pm. Not sure how its going to work with R coming too but hey ho, we'll see. Am hoping that now DS1 is older, they'll be doing stuff without the parents participating now. WIththe younger age group a parent had to assist with the child but now I'm hoping that it will be more hands off for me.

Belgianchocolates · 18/09/2009 15:06

Momino, have a great time at Elbow and the zoo, but Elbow's special!

I think I will complain to M&P
