aw Ses, hope you had a good time whilst you were able. I think your DH needs a few more nights with himself and O so that he gets more practice .

night all.

Momino · 17/09/2009 06:56

morning all! just wanted to be first on here to say... harper slept through from about 7.15pm till 645am! well done Harper! I hadn't done anything different. in fact, she's been cluster-feeding during the day which I've been trying to refine.

dd1 did wake up about 2.30 for some water then I woke up about 4 wondering why H hadn't woken up and should i check on her just in case (i fell back asleep whilst ponderine).

hope you're all still sleeping and had a good night. well, grumpy, you'll be awake by now, right?

Momino · 17/09/2009 06:57

that's 'pondering'.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 17/09/2009 08:52

Why of course I was awake at that time momi, just busy swigging coffee and eating waffles preparing a healthy and nutritious breakfast.

Yay! To H sleeping through (it must be the relief of being an American Citizen ).

I'm getting a cat in 2hours 25 minutes a ginger one.

OP posts:
Momino · 17/09/2009 09:53

whatcha going to name it? do you need ideas? I want to get a cat just to be able to use one of the cool boy names ihad for a baby and now can't use (ie Atticus).

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 17/09/2009 10:02

DD2 suggested 'Ginger' . I voted for 'Steve'. DD1 has yet to cast her vote.

OP posts:
Momino · 17/09/2009 10:04

gotta be Steve.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 17/09/2009 10:05

It's great, innit? 'Steve the Cat', makes him sound like a wideboy.

'Ginger', honestly, the girl has no imagination.

OP posts:
Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 17/09/2009 10:14

However 'Atticus'. Such a great, great book and it may mould him into a cat of great moral rectitude and character. Rather than a furry killing machine.

LoobyLou36 · 17/09/2009 11:44

cat name how about "Chivers" - like the marmalade?

I had a ginger kitten a few years ago that died he was called "Colin"

Love Steve tho

4 days till holiday!

MIL and DH nan have been up this morning to see M
MIL brought me a BF top from SIL (blooming marvelous one-very nice), a couple of sarongs, a couple of nice tops for hols and also a very pretty satin nightie that my SIL bought her (a size too small) that has never been worn

yay - so I have some new clothes for holiday!

llareggub · 17/09/2009 14:23

Helloooooooooo

So much to do and so little time. The house is a mess, I've got invoicing to do and washing to sort and despite both boys being asleep I'm wasting spending time on t'internet.

Went to baby clinic this morning to prove that DS2's black eye was a freak one-off accident last time. We then went over to the gym where DS1 had a gym class so I got to sit down for half an hour with a coffee and read teh paper, BLISS!

As I said, all but me are asleep so I might join them....

pulapula · 17/09/2009 14:52

Hello- I decided to follow Tummum's example and not go on my laptop until i'd done my chores this morning. Well by the time i'd done them, and sat down with a cup of tea S was awake from his 30 min nap and i decided to take the DSs out to playgroup. At least it meant the house was tidy even if i didn't feel rested.

momi- well done to H for sleeping through .

grumpy- i think atticus would be a great name for your kitten- he could be 'atticus catticus' or 'atty' for short . I haven't had many pets (only hamsters and one kitten). The hamsters were called scamper, sam, basil and sheila. The cat was called sam too (he was samantha until we discovered his gender and he was around at the same time as sam the hamster so maybe i'm not the best person to advise on pet names ).

pulapula · 17/09/2009 14:56

Oh, and yes, I did give my DS2 the same name as 2 of my pets too , so guess i've always liked it .

Jael · 17/09/2009 15:07

Not been up to much here, me and J had a walk to drop DD off at nursery for 12:30 and were off again in a minute to go and pick her up. I've managed to do 3 loads of washing, got 2 loads in the drier and 1 load is on the airer, so when DD gets back she'll want to "help" me put it away lol

J has done 3 million poo's today, I feel like I've forever been changing his bum! My life is sooo interesting.... haha Jael XX

SpangleMaker · 17/09/2009 15:34

Atticus catticus is a fab name! We had a cat called Wensley because DH wanted to name her after a cheese Penelope is the name we didn't get to use (in fact we were initially gutted H was a boy because we both love the name, obviously not so bothered now!). A couple of years ago I happened to be at a do at the Australian embassy in Paris and the ambassador was called Penelope Wensley, I couldn't believe it!

More rolling escapades from H while I ran outside to fetch a parcel. I had made a barricade but he was right up against it when I came back and looked so proud of himself.

We've been to baby sensory this morning which was fun. Detsy & her A were there - he's gorgeous, really bright & perky and very friendly with H, who is most rude and ignores his attempts at making friends. Detsy is fine (hopefully she won't mind me updating you all) but v busy trying to work from home as well as looking after A so has no time to MN.

Right, better go & clear up. DH might be bringing back a business contact later and the house is a tip.

Momino · 17/09/2009 18:02

Hi all.
Pet names- i love the name george and we named our gorgeous collie that before we thought about having children. but i would have loved a little boy George. or Atticus.

Pula, love 'atticus-catticus' . i think we'll have to get a cat named atticus just because we weren't able to use the name on a baby.(at least we have 'Harper' which gives a tiny nod towards atticus)

Jael · 17/09/2009 19:27

we've got quite a few pets in our household lol two cats and dog, and a fishtank full of fishes that all have names too DD also has a bunnie at her nanny's house. I love animals, unfortunately, after I had DD I suddenly developed an allergy to our cats, so they have to live outside now they're well equipped though, they have a proper house built especialy for them by my FIL that's weatherproof, DD and DP still pick them up etc, but I can't go anywhere near them which makes me really sad. My dog is very special to me, DP bought her for me 2 years ago for v-day, she's a shih-tzu and I love her to pieces.

Momino My parents have got a collie and he's the most loveable dog in the world!

Belgianchocolates · 17/09/2009 20:50

Evening everyone,

grumpy How's Steve/Atticus/Ginger settling in? Have the various goblins left your house yet?

spangle Say Hi from me to Detsy when you next see her. She's one of the few 'Due in May-ers' I've actually met in RL and she's lovely.

jael that you're allergic to your cats, but I bet their catty friends are of their very own house . I'm in awe of your teaching skills btw. I'm not very good at teaching my own dcs things like reading or writing or letters. I suppose it's also a little bit because where I'm from not many people would even consider trying to teach a 3yo letters.

Well I had a very very busy day here today. Everyone is so lovely here in this village. There seems to be more to do for me here than in my old big village/small town. I was invited to a charity tea party (sounds more posh than it was ) by someone who has a baby 2 weeks older and 4 lbs lighter than C. It's so funny to see those 2 nest to eachoter. Before that I had a haircut, my 1st one since March . Then in the afternoon I had the HV come to visit me to introduce herself + what's on offer in the area + check on C and my family's needs (apparently). After that I meant to go to a mum and baby session at the church, but it was too late. Stopped by the butcher's (who's also my neighbour) for some sausages and a proper oldfashioned natter. Then after school I invited a mum around who needed to BF her baby and wanted to feed her lo in the park but it was a little windy and as I live right across I invited her in. So as you can see we're all settling in brilliantly and I love it here

C was weighed and amazingly has now moved somewhere in the pink area above the 98th centile on the chart (I think that on the new charts she might be off the scale). I must say that the last few days I had a feeling that she was on a little growth spurt as she's been feeding every 1.5h or so during the day, sometimes every hour. But she's a quick feeder, so it doesn't really bother me that much. It's the pinned to the sofa hours long feeding sessions that some babies have.

Belgianchocolates · 17/09/2009 20:51

Just reread that. Obviously I didn't have my 1st haircut in march but my last. Imagine how long my hair would be if it had been growing for 31y

Belgianchocolates · 17/09/2009 21:06

I've just got a message from Minimenace, remeber her? I got in touch with her because she lives in Kent. Well, she only lives 8 miles down the Road from me!! She's fine btw, bf and af and little one is growing nicely.

SpangleMaker · 17/09/2009 21:09

We've gone back to normal!

Belgian sounds like you are enjoying life in your village. Sounds lovely. We live in a small village but because it's kind of connected to a small town there aren't so many community activities. I think there's a toddler group which I may try to go to when H is a little older so he can make some friends nearby,

DH has gone out to dinner with his business contact (a sales rep). He offered to drag the guy over our way so we could all go out which was nice of him, but there's no guarantee of H's behaviour on an evening out so I told him to go off and enjoy himself. Is it mean of me to be also thinking of the favours I'm stacking up?

By the way, Ses, I would have been tempted to pretend my phone had no signal

Better go rescue H. He has had a wriggle & fallen back to sleep with both legs caught in the handles of the moses basket a la stirrups.

Belgianchocolates · 17/09/2009 21:27

Oh dear Spangle H in stirrups at his young age

We have got back to normal, haven't we?

llareggub · 17/09/2009 21:35

Belgian your new village sounds lovely. I'm so glad you are settling in well.

spangle I'm not a pet fan but George is a very good name in any case.

Buddism book I bought it because it was recommended on here a few times. I read the first two chapters last night and found it very thought-provoking. I've struggled quite a bit with DS1 since DS2 was born, and like others have found my mumsnet addiction partly to blame. However, I find that I need my internet connection to fuel my brain on the long days and I just don't know when to stop.

Anyway, the book gave me lots of food for thought and I've tried to implement some of those thoughts today. I have used the laptop but only when he was asleep. DS shouts a lot and I suspect that is my influence and the author recommends whispering to be heard. She promises that the toddler will stop shouting to try and hear what you are saying and it really works! There is also a load of stuff about seeing the world through the perspective of now and making today matter. Probably a coincidence but I have found today easier. There are some other things in there too which I won't bore you with but I have found it helpful. I'm going to re-read the 2 chapters tomorrow and then move on to the next ones.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 17/09/2009 21:39

The cat is called 'Keith'

He's gorgeous, very loud, purry, naughty, friendly and, well, just 'Keith'.

My mum's here and I've been civil all night , let's see how tomorrow goes.

Belg your village sounds ace!

Spangle Harvey sounds like a terrible show-off to me, doing all that dangerous rolling . You've reminded me I must email Dets

I want to call Keith 'Lord Atticus of Catticus'.

I'm sorry to post a load of waffly crap and run but S decided that no sleep was the way forward today so I'm knackered.

Night all!
