JennsterFrogSaviour · 09/09/2009 22:35

Je n'aime pas les limace. Yuk.

JennsterFrogSaviour · 09/09/2009 22:36

And I don't mean I've eaten them. My frogs do.

flippineck · 09/09/2009 22:39

Jennster, I can see that that would not be appealing.

Actually, eating them isn't appealing. Never tried them - not eaten meat for more than 20 years and not likely to end that with a grenouille!

We had a toad living under out shed for a while, he was quite cute. And a slowworm under there, too.

flippineck · 09/09/2009 22:40

Not certain, but guesing limace is slug?

JennsterFrogSaviour · 09/09/2009 22:44

Yes but if you put slugs into babelfish, it comes up lingot. Put lingot into babelfish it translates as ingot (?) I am still friends with my French Exchange partner from 20 years ago. She was great.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 09/09/2009 22:45

Just couldn't eat something with slimy skin . Not much of a reason I know

Anyhow, goodnight all and sweet dreams

FiByTheSea · 09/09/2009 23:11

Bon nuit...je suis fatigue!

Tummum · 09/09/2009 23:30

Finally gotten an apology out of the crappity person that is my DH. I am still going away for a weekend soon. He needs to understand what it's like ! Doesn't help that he's away all week, so thinks it is all sweetness and light like it is at the weekend. And I have briefed the people he would normally ask for help from to be out at the weekend of my trip away as I know he would just call in the troops ordinarily. Mwah ha ha ha haaaaa ! (Grumpy-ism is catching!)

Flippin funny you should ask about the vouchers. Well, after being assured it would work out OK, funnily enough my vouchers from last month (my 1st month of SMP only) didn't turn up. Apparently this was because the woman wot does the vouchers was on holiday, so didn't send the money through . So, several phone calls later apparently the money was sent through, but my company (and I should add it's a flaming large organisation that should be getting this stuff right) had removed me from the scheme [shock.] Arrrgghhh. After much hassle, I now have a voucher from last month in my hands. Apparently I am the only person who is in this situation, which I find hard to believe. I think the reality is that I am the only person who understands her rights and is making a fuss to be paid what I am due.

Loobs blimey, very creative making seat covers. Hope you enjoy vanfest. I'm v.

Right, must go to bed as knackered from crying / shouting at DH / drinking wine.

Tummum · 09/09/2009 23:32

that should be off my soap box. (Sorry Llare and BC!)

BC, forgot to say, what a lovely house and village.

Momino · 10/09/2009 06:51

morning. just sipping a hot coffee in bed, trying to push myself to get up. who else finds it difficult to get out of bed?

I just wanted to say to tummum, hope you're feeling better today and you got a good night sleep. your DH makes me . you do so much! he will realise after being on his own with them this weekend.

also glad you're getting somewhere on the vouchers.

Harper woke once last night about 3ish, other DD's slept through and still sleeping. DH left about 5am to go to work as he's on hol next week, work is busy. all is quiet.

ok gonna get up. now . must get dressed and start the struggle to get 2 toddlers ready for nursery. see you later.

FiByTheSea · 10/09/2009 07:44

momino mememe! finding it really difficult to get out of bed atm. i listened to ds playing in his room at 6.15 for about 15mins.. thinking must get up.. then g woke up and noisily filled her nappy.. that got me moving

muddleddaizy · 10/09/2009 08:21

Momi and Fi I too find it difficult to get out of bed. Ds2 throwing up everywhere this am got me moving this morning

Tummum can't believe your dh said that. Glad you got an apology. DH said that someone asked him why he helps out with the children and getting them to bed etc as apparently that's my job cos I'm on maternity leave?!?! Yeah right, you work 8hrs a day and just cos I'm on maternity leave means I have to work 24hrs a day?!?! Hopefully dh didn't take too much notice of this person! My it's a bit early in the morning for a rant

LoobyLou36 · 10/09/2009 08:24

morning all

M had a good night, fed her when I went to bed 10-10.30 then she slept till 4.50 fed till 5.30 then slept till 8!! YAY!

lovely sunny day here so going to try to get to a new group this morning at a local church hall 30mins walk away, then at 2 my old group starts up so gonna walk to that too M seems to feed better when we're not stuck in the house

going to Majorca in 11 days!! v.nervous

LoobyLou36 · 10/09/2009 08:25

M is upstairs in her cot talking to her mobile so I'd better get my a*se in the shower

SpangleMaker · 10/09/2009 08:34

I don't like getting out of bed. The only thing that makes me get up at a reasonable hour is the need to have a shower etc before DH goes to work. He is worse than me though. Sometimes I get a bit grumpy when he wants me to get my shower out of the way so he can get up, then lazes in bed.

Bit of a disrupted night here. After spending the last couple of weeks pinning me to the sofa in the evenings upping my milk supply, H has decided for the last 2 nights to go to bed on what must have been an empty stomach, meaning I wake up at 3.30am with sore & leaky boobs. I fed him in his sleep at 4am then he went through until 7 but for some reason I couldn't go back to sleep properly. Didn't help that I went to bed at midnight. Must get an early night tonight.

Tummum don't forget to make sure your DH also has to run errands, get shopping in, plan & cook meals, have the house clean & tidy etc, whatever you normally do. AND try to read a business text.

llareggub · 10/09/2009 08:38

Oooh yes, Tummum. You really ought to leave him something to improve his mind. You could get him to learn origami or something like that while caring for 3 children.

Morning all. Still in bed with DS2 beside me. DH just brought me breakfast in bed and the laptop. I wonder how long DS2 will stay asleep?

LoobyLou36 · 10/09/2009 09:04

breakfast in bed llare lovely

well m and I are both washed and dressed, I've hoovered downstairs (to get rid of the cow print fur) now just breakfast to get out of the way and we're off out

Belgianchocolates · 10/09/2009 09:20

llare breakfast in bed and the laptop. You lucky lady! Last time I had breakfast in bed was 3 years ago when I was struck down with a nasty chest infection (result of the extreme stress I was under during my last year of training)

tummum Love the suggestions so many here have been making of getting your DH to run errands etc... while looking after 3dcs. I'll try and think of some evil task for him too [hehehe]. Oo, how about assembling a piece of flat pack furniture. Manly enough, but a nightmare with dcs around

gettimg up I struggled today too for some reason. I had a good sleep though. Dream feed finished and in bed by 11 and cat, baby and dcs all slept until 7, which is better than they've been doing since moving here.

All this talk about eating frogs, snails etc... makes me crave for some lovely escargots . My mum sometimes does them especially for me when I visit home. Being Belgian I think I'm quite adventurous with my food. I've had all sorts of things in the past. Including jelly fish!

flippin I'm going to the mama natura shop open day today. It's not too far away from here, so I thought I'd pop in!

Thanks for all the comments on my new house. I love it. I wish I could buy it

essenceofSES · 10/09/2009 09:32

All this talk of yummy food My favourite treat when I go to France is Moules Frites. I love the different sauces and having a big pot to myself

Tummum - my DH was annoyed I hadn't filled in O's passport application the other day. I said he could do it next week when I'm out for the evening and he's looking after DS on his own for the first time!!

Looby - yay for a good night and yay for Majorca!!!

I'd like some advice about sleep please if any one has time...

You may remember that I was co-sleeping with O until about 10 weeks when we put his cot with one side off shoved up against my side of the bed. That's worked ok except he normally falls asleep on me feeding him and then sleeps in his cot for up to 2 hrs before stirring, crying, rolling off his mattress to me and then coming into bed for the rest of the night. This doesn't really bother us except I have this little voice telling me that
a) he should learn to settle himself rather than falling asleep on me
b) he should be sleeping in his cot
c) I guess I just kind of feel a bit "behind" on this one

Sometimes in the morning after DH goes to work, I'll sit up and feed him and he'll fall asleep on me and I'll put him back in his cot and he'll stay asleep there on his own for about 20 mins.
This morning that happened but he's still asleep an hour later!! To try and stop his rolling waking him up, I put a pillow at the join of my mattress and his and I put the baby monitor on and he's rolled but only got as far as being on his tummy, resettled himself and has stayed asleep there on his tummy.
This is great except, I know it's dangerous to use a pillow (the baby monitor is a sensor one though ) and is sleeping on his tummy ok?
Is it worth me putting him to sleep on his tummy at night as he hasn't yet worked out how to roll from his tummy onto his back?

Hope that all makes sense and if anyone has any thoughts, much appreciated...

llareggub · 10/09/2009 09:43

Ses, no advice really but I've always subscribed to the "do what works" school of parenting. So if O likes to fall asleep on you, carry on. They are still tiny. I did this with DS1 and apart from his tantrums he sleeps very well now. DS2 falls asleep on me too, and we co-sleep. Don't worry about being "behind." Each child is different and you really must do what suits you, though I'd never put a baby on his tummy. I get a bit paranoid about it.
