I went to R&P for a nursing bra (selection not great, sadly). Ring them in advance and book an appt for fitting - they'll spend ages helping you try many different bras. They were very helpful and lovely. No tape measures, just a quick feel

expressing for premies? can one do such a thing? what does it entail? i wonder if i could get extra milk enough to do it too

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 29/08/2009 20:39

Find out if your local hospital has a milk bank bebemoo - ours doesn't sadly otherwise I'd be donating too.

kazkiss · 29/08/2009 20:39

This might sound a bit strange but is a reaction to an email that i just had sent to me...

This is obviously a thing about being a mum but i cannot now bear to watch anythign regarding children in discomfort AT ALL. I used to be able to watch things like childrens hospital and stuff like that whilst feeling great sympathy didnt really effect me. Now everything I watch or hear just makes me think of my two and I cannot detach myself. I also now have a great sense of my own mortality but for completely unselfish reasons. Does this ever ease off or do i need to learn to live with being a complete wooss!

Swaliswan · 29/08/2009 20:49

I donate to our local bank. They come and pick up the milk. I'll donate until we start weaning at 6 months and then I'll have a ready-made supply of milk for use with weaning food. Also, milk made by mothers who have a 6+ mo baby isn't as good for the premmies. I only express once a day off of one breast and only get 100-150ml but they seem more than happy to receive it at the milk bank.

dawntigga · 29/08/2009 20:50

moo try here for a list of milk banks and here for the official website. Don't worry if you can't get near them they will collect and as the slogan goes every drop counts. I express about 60ml per day and that's 3 meals to a premie! I'm through Countess of Chester although there is another on the Wirral.

Gui R&P are VERY good - but I'm better

bronze · 29/08/2009 20:53

milk is much appreciated. I was lucky enough that could produce my own for my prem but I knew people who felt terrible guilt as it is so hard to keep up a supply for a baby who is not with you. Well done people. I wish I could follow suit but struggle with supply for Izy this time for some reason. (I can't even express for the freezer this time for some odd reason)

Guimauve · 29/08/2009 20:55

Tigga - Get a load of these

What size would you say? Are you good enough to size by broadband???

can you wobble to and fro
can you tie em in a knot
can you tie em in a bow
can you throw them over your shoulder like a regimental soldier
do your ears hang low.........

kazkiss · 29/08/2009 21:01

ooooh just remembered i am going to haven in just over a week and i can sing alll the cheesy songs and have an excuse too (two babies ) rather than stealing other peoples children!!! yayyyyy

AuldAlliance · 29/08/2009 21:47

Evening all,
Just nipping in before I collapse into bed.
The mistral has begun blowing so it has cooled things down. Still 28° in our bedroom, though!

While we were out the wind blew open our terrace door and so when we got in there were things scattered all over the house. I was worried someone had broken in, so DH searched the house, and we were reassured till a few minutes later I went into DS1's bedroom and a big, dirty tomcat rushed out from under the bed.

A is definitely sitting up. Will post evidence on my profile. He sits on his changing table or playmat for long minutes on end before gently keeling over sideways...

Hope you get a dress, bebe.
Glad you are OK, Springy!
Drinks? Sounds good. I am sick of alcohol free beer. DH has brought some ginger & lemon rum back from his Indian Ocean trip and he won't let me try it.

Bicnod · 30/08/2009 07:50

Morning all...

WFH - PMSL again at Bronze being bald in Boff's shoes

Phd - O is just above the 98th and also started adding in a few night feeds... I've given him a bit of baby rice (I know - controversial - but I'm not allowed to talk about the guilt as I'd have to eat another packet of chocolate hobnobs and that would upset Tigga) and he now sleeps for longer than he ever has at night. I think its a myth that bigger babies are better sleepers - bigger babies IME (of one baby - so not much experience to be fair) are hungry babies and therefore not very sleepful babies.

JJ - holiday sounds amazing but shower trauma sounds terrifying - poor you. Hurrah for your sister though

Bronze - just been looking at picks of Izy on FB. He is gorgeous and smiley and looks absolutely perfect for the age that he is. What worries you in particular?

Auld - sitting up? Woweeeeee I just tried that with Oscar and he just keeled over sideways and looked at me strangely.

I'm going to do some gardening today and make banana bread... hurrah for sunny day weekend

dawntigga · 30/08/2009 08:20

LOL @ Gui

Warning bad language alert.

Steve Berry, for example, is a twat.

JumeirahJane · 30/08/2009 08:40

Just when I thought my boobs were settling into a semblance of normality, along comes PMT. God, I really had hoped not to have periods til at least, oooh, a year after the birth. Anyone dare deny me CHOCOLATE now?

JumeirahJane · 30/08/2009 08:50

Auld - nearly missed that, "mistral", you must be in the south then? Anywhere near my summer haunt near Fayence in the Var? Sympathy for the sweltering in your sleep, however do you keep up fluid production? I was drinking at least 2 bottles of water in the night and still waking up thirsty.

Bless little Alex for his wobbles and extreme cuteness .

bronze · 30/08/2009 10:38

bicnod- he doesnt do anything apart from laugh and smile. I'm not really worried. |Quite nice to havew a baby who is a baby. DH always says ds1 came out as a toddler

I could be bald anywhere I'm moulting so much.

Tigga whats he done?

bebemoo · 30/08/2009 15:03

Well ladies I'm back from bravissimo I had a lovely fitting and have found that in their sizes I'm two 2 TWO! sizes smaller than I've been wearing in other clothes. hallelujah! Makes one feel VERY good about oneself.
They didn't have any dresses that I particularly liked in store, but I'm now confident about buying something online with them I did buy a shirt that might see me through the wedding though...it depends on how cheap I want to be.

Thanks for the links abt the milk banks. There are none near by it seems, though there will supposedly be one in Bristol soon
