pps - can't possibly wean Orbit yet, haven't assembled his Tripp Trapp chair yet! It's still sitting in the hall.

DS1 has a mahogany colour one, and we've bought Orbit a green one, but we're going to take them both to bits and do a mix and match with the pieces so they both have a bi-coloured chair. And obviously the mahogany baby set will go on Orbit's - I was lucky and got DS1s baby set before they brought out the yucky plastic version, so it's a nice wooden one.

bronze, I don't know what you mean, about the popular name? Am confused.

I see what you mean about sci-fi now - maybe it's his third eye? He might be already completely enlightened?

bronze · 28/08/2009 16:23

Hi Nelly. Somehow your name seems appropriate for an april mum

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 28/08/2009 16:24

oh bronze, mastitis - how horrid. Hope it clears soon.

NellyNoKnicks, WELCOME! Is Joshua your first?

NellyNoKnicks · 28/08/2009 16:25

Hi thank you, I'll take that as a compliment then

NellyNoKnicks · 28/08/2009 16:25

yes but hopefully not the last

bebemoo · 28/08/2009 16:28

welcome Nelly

NellyNoKnicks · 28/08/2009 16:30

Thank you bebemoo

NellyNoKnicks · 28/08/2009 16:34

I'm so glad to find a thread where I wont get burnt at the stake for admitting to weaning my son and of course eating more than my body weight in chocolate

bronze · 28/08/2009 16:39

Remember girls the longer you solely breastfeed the longer you have an excuse to eat more crap (thats of course why I'm doing it )

bebemoo · 28/08/2009 16:49

Beautiful baby Nelly

NellyNoKnicks · 28/08/2009 16:53

Awww thank you. I'm proud, but then I'm biased

Obviously he looks a little different when he's sleeping with his mouth wide open, dribbling and snoring can't think who he got that from

Didn't mean to hijack the thread btw, am off to make some cookies salad and stuff.

Thanks for the welcome

brettgirl2 · 28/08/2009 17:24

Unfortunately the one down side to not being depressed is that I am now starving all the time . Therefore I can't eat chocolate haha.

Welcome Nelly - I must admit that I hate most of MN. All the 'perfect' mummies who apparently find time to be on a computer for 8 hours a day, shouldn't they be baking or stimulating their children if they are so great?! I got flamed once for admitting not paying for (gasp) a tin of Anchovies from Sainsbury's. It was pissing it down, I had just come from work was knackered and it was an accident. Criminal tendencies , maybe I should turn myself in. I'm sure they are not as white as they pretend.

Weaning at 6 weeks . I can't get Hannah to take Calpol now so there is further evidence she is far from being ready for weaning! Plus, I don't even have a high chair to assemble

bronze · 28/08/2009 17:26

I actually hope I'm purer than I pretend otherwise my children are buggered

PuzzleRocks · 28/08/2009 17:49

Bronze - That's awful. Certainly puts my poxy little worries into perspective.

WFH - I love Bill Bailey. Very .

Nelly - Welcome. You have no idea what you are letting yourself in for.

SpringySponge · 28/08/2009 18:10

Helloooooooooooo.

Will be doing a bit of a catch up later, but thought if I didn't just post now I'd never get around to it!

I had a quick scan of the last couple of pages & will join in with the hungry baby / feeding solidarity.

George now actively snatches food from our hands & puts it in his mouth, so we are allowing him bananas for the time being with the reasoning that it's better than the chips, etc, that he really wants! He's also had formula since 16 weeks (although I'm still BFing too) & he's a lot happier.

I know it's controversial, but his first tooth came through at 14 weeks & the second at 16 weeks, & he's a very active baby who also does the commando-type shuffling Boff was describing. He can sit up, hold his own bottle & feed himself, so I don't feel guilty about it. (I promise I've not come running back here to gloat about my 'advanced' baby - for a start off, I've met Karahan , & I couldn't care less about who's doing what).

I just wanted to say that I offer my support to anyone who's not 100% BFing until 26 weeks for whatever reason - it's not the end of the world! & for some babies, it really is better not to, I think.

Much love to you all, & I promise I'll have a mini catch up soon. I miss you all!

As a quick aside, things in my life seem to be looking up & I'm much happier, so there should be much less whinging from this end

Bicnod · 28/08/2009 18:15

Welcome Nelly

Bronze - you poor thing have you got antibiotics? I had mastitis and it really really hurts - sending lots of (very gentle) hugs.

WFH - very of your night out... I haven't left O for an evening yet - I'm a great big wuss and wimped out of dinner with DH on our wedding anniversary - if he was a bit more predictable re: sleep/feeding etc then I think I'd feel ok about it (Oscar that is, not DH).

Poor little O didn't know what to do with himself this afternoon - he reacted much worse to these injections than he did to the two previous ones currently being bathed by daddy so I can waste time on mumsnet run around the house doing all the jobs I didn't get done today...

takeaway night tonight methinks...

Welcome Nelly; gorgeous bubba!)

WFH have a lovely time!

Bicnod boo for jabs, luckiliy my two need no more now till they are a year.

Springy: oooh early teeth! We have no teeth yet but feel like we have all been teething for years! (including me as i have a horrible wisdom tooth coming through! and as I have a childs size mouth ( at ju) it is quite painful! #

Brett: I have also noticed that rest of mn can be quite pious.

kazkiss · 28/08/2009 18:57

Just realised how sharp and to the point my last post was lol. Shall extend later!

Guimauve · 28/08/2009 19:04

Concise isn't usually your strong point!

OP posts:
kazkiss · 28/08/2009 19:13

haha. Jo R told Emma yesterday (sorry Other MNetters this will mean nothing to you) that I was quiet when I was pregnant and to expect the gattling (sp?) gun back when I return to work!

Haha charming!

See even that last sentance was long!

I have just looked to see if i can find more buffet munching (no double entendre meant) But mysteriously cannot find any. Must be a case of what happens at the buffet stays at the buffet!!

Bicnod · 28/08/2009 19:23

Bugger. Just realised my strike out didn't work... waste time on mumsnet so you have to do each word individually... blergh

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 28/08/2009 19:32

Hello again - Springy, how have you stayed away this long! Back here immediately and tell us more about what's going on with you!

Bill Bailey was fabulous, really really really funny and totally what the doctor ordered. We were very lucky in that the nursery nurses from DS1's nursery do babysitting, so the one who used to run the baby room came last night (she's a nanny now) and I felt completely safe leaving Orbit and DS1 with her, as I know she's really experienced and has loads of qualifications in infant first aid and things like that. Also not at all fazed by small babies. So I could relax, it was great.

(Obviously still rang home at the interval....!)

Orbit's bottom teeth are showing through the gum, but haven't cut yet. He likes to have a good old chomp on the nipple at the end of feeds, as well as his favourite game of 'How far can the nipple stretch' . I'm not keen on that one....
