Wonderful, wonderful news MrsG.

PuzzleRocks · 12/09/2009 08:57

Have an ace time Bicnod.

bronze · 12/09/2009 11:53

ok am very late but when I was expressing for dd I would put it in the freezer at home take it in in a cool bag (with freezer packs) and put it in the freezer there. 25 mins or so to the hospital so would have been in the cool bag 40 mins maybe,

Actually thinking about it the first two weeks she was at a different hospital and thats over an hours drive.

bronze · 12/09/2009 12:01

Good news Mrs G

mrsgboring · 12/09/2009 15:57

What's up Swali?

I don't know, I go away for a couple of days and suddenly you're all getting stoned and knocking back Ladyboys. Thank goodness I am back to raise the tone and bring a bit of decency to the group.

Huge sympathies to all on the expressing treadmill. Did a bit of expressing on the hospital's pump while E was nil by mouth. I was bursting and leaking spontaneously all over my t-shirt but only managed to get 80ml in the bottle. And do you know the sad thing is, I was delighted Had to refrain from asking the nurses to take my photo holding up the milk it was such a supreme achievement for me.

Bicnod · 12/09/2009 18:04

PACKING. ARGH.

(sorry for shouting)

dawntigga · 12/09/2009 19:56

mrsg you should have your picture. Robin won't take a picture of me looking like a fembot and my attempts have been poor! As for adding decency??? Maybe if you'd put in before it

Sorry about earlier. B was being an annoyingly grumpy, tired monster who would not give in and sleep no matter what I did. DH had very helpfully driven off with the pushchair in the car so I couldn't take her for a walk to stop her incessant whining. I really do need to do baby boot camp with her and get her used to going to sleep when she is tired and sort out a routine of sorts.

Still 5 more weeks before weaning and I'm fed up of people making comments about her needing to wean now. It will not magically sort everything out overnight so stop nagging me!

Bicnod · 12/09/2009 21:19

Thanks Puzzle

Hey Swali - hope you're feeling better now... its so frustrating when they won't just sleep... why why oh why do babies find it so hard?!

Right. I'm all packed and ready to go. Ish. Still got a list of things to pack in the morning.

Oh please please please have a good night tonight little O.

I'll miss you ladies - I expect you'll be six threads down by the time I get back.

Bring on the fanjoshire cream teas

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 12/09/2009 22:58

Have a lovely holiday Bicnod! Hope O sleeps well for you tonight. Glad you're finding the weaning book useful, too (it is funny the way it tells you how to puree a carrot, I remember grinning at that bit too). Sure you've found Calprofen by now, but if you haven't it's just ibuprofen. You can alternate it with Calpol on bad nights though for a double whammy.

Swali I feel your pain - I had a terrible night and morning with both boys and DP came home to find me at my wits' end and starting a migraine . Bless him he sent me to bed and I only got up at 8pm.

mrsg well done at expressing exploits! And so good that everything went well with E's op.

Orbit is sitting well now and very interested in anything edible. He had more pear for breakfast - he's only really interested if it's something I've got though, if you just put food in front of him he checks if I'm eating it too and generally prefers my piece. BLW book reckons this is a safety instinct to stop babies eating things that aren't food, which makes sense, I guess.

He leaked twice last night so I'm going to try a Bamboo nappy with two boosters tomorrow night, and see if that works better.

Off to the kite festival tomorrow if we have the energy - boys didn't go out at all today due to me being in bed and DP only getting back at lunchtime and being quite hungover so fresh air for all tomorrow.

BoffinMum · 12/09/2009 23:13

Terrific news, MrsG!!!!

JumeirahJane · 13/09/2009 10:48

Everyone having a lie-in this am? Or are you all 'having a life' at kite festivals etc. Well, it's a working day here, so am home trying to entertain a small person who is most dischuffed at me for taking her to be punctured (twice) yesterday. And to cap it all, I sliced her thumb while cutting her nails. Poor lil sausage, she did howl, and I still feel like the worst mummy in the world, despite DH insisting it was an accident, yes but I sobbed, a preventable one, I could have waited til she was asleep. Please tell me I'm not the only bad mummy

MrsG Great to hear you're home and E well.

WFH - lol at 'generally prefers my piece'. Bought THE book at the weekend, and am now firmly in the BLW camp - minimum faff, maximum fun for DD - and as we both love our food, we want hers to be a positive experience too. Still trying to hold off til 6 months despite M's puppy-dog eyes at the dinner table. Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Happy hols Bic.
Eid is round the corner, so family time coming up fabbo, and almost cool enough to go to the beach at sundown.

Anyone for a nice brunchy bacon sarnie and mug of coffee?

bronze · 13/09/2009 10:56

I'm neither Jane. I have a tiredness headaches yet I had a reasonable night last night.

What does the blw book have that isnt just common sense. Should I buy it? (cant really afford to)

that sounds yummy

JumeirahJane · 13/09/2009 11:06

As a read it's good, as a ref book it's handier than going online all the time, But tbh, having read the MN page on weaning along with various threads, the book doesn't contain very much more than further (quite funny) anecdotes. For me, it just reinforced my resolve to do this and provided enough for DH to dip into to be persuaded that it's the right approach for us. Good luck whatever you decide to do, you've time to decide yet

JumeirahJane · 13/09/2009 11:22

Am imagining things, there was a page on blw only a week ago, I read it, I did. Now it's gone and I can't find it. Just as well I bought the book then, . Sorry.

JumeirahJane · 13/09/2009 11:30

Oh that's right, it's interspersed with the spoon-feeding advice here

bronze · 13/09/2009 11:50

thats a very sensible sounding article
