MrsD is it a full time nursery place you'll be looking for? I know my nursery told me it had a 9 month waiting list when I wanted to start - but I sneaked him in by asking for mondays and fridays only - as they were quiet being the least popular days - then taking/swapping them around as more came up.

Fennel · 09/06/2005 20:20

that's good about your new house spagblog. is it yours if you want it? it's not long til july 1st now tho I guess it's a long time to stay in someone else's house.

Nursery places get far easier to find once they're over 2. If we move I'm assuming we might use a childminder for a while - they don't have such long waiting lists. we used one for dd1 for a while, and in some ways they're more convenient than nurseries, especially if they're very flexible and local. (I've been busy selling the idea of moving to dp, so I have been practising all the arguments....)

Well a discussion this evening has led us to the fact we will leave dd where she is for aslong as we can. So to save stress before and immediately after our trip to NZ we are going to hand on til the end of the year. It'll give me a chance to check out the nurseries and childminders thoroughly.

Has anyone noticed the acute onset of illiteracy here? Only 3 weeks gone and already using the pathetic xcuse of a mushy brain

Chuffed · 10/06/2005 09:20

MrsD my nausea was worse this time around than last time but has pretty much gone after accupuncture on Wed. I've been feeling much more myself.
dd's nursery has a huge wait list for the baby room but I don't think it is quite as bad for the room she is in now. I think they have a bit more turnover at this point, people move, decide they want to be SAHM, have another etc.
Will you be moving up north MrsD? Fennel are you still looking at the extended family community near the water somewhere?
Great news about the house spagblog, must be such a relief to at least know where you are going to be and plan around it.
Well on the new bub front I saw the bub on scan this morning at the Dr's. He said everything looked good and normal - yay - dh was gutted he wasn't with me.

dolbear · 10/06/2005 09:32

congrats Mrs D !!
its all very exciting ! having even been feelin a bit broody myself lately , but am quite happy to fight the urge for now !
have been feelin not too good lately maybe a yr of interupted sleep and a crazy family has finaly taken its toll , my bad back is coming back with a vengance and not wanting to get too personel quite a lot of bleeding from the no2 (IYGWIM) should go to docs but the time ? no excuse I know , am also realy realy tired
still nothing compared to u pg ladies !!!
keep us informed SB - good luck

Chuffed · 10/06/2005 09:51

dolbear GET TO THE DR's.

TracyK · 10/06/2005 09:58

sympathies Dolbear! I too am feeling the toll of being a new mum! Don't know whether its hayfever or summer cold - but v. tired today and stuffy nose (nothing to blow out tho). Body gone to crap - down below falling apart - and in general feeling crappy.
dh away last night and late home tonight - so he owes me a long lie in tomoro and to take ds downstairs to watch Monsters Inc!

Fennel · 10/06/2005 10:01

dolbear bleeding there can be bad news you should get it checked out sooner rather than later.

chuffed, yes, commune by sunny water is still the goal. New Zealand plans not so hopeful, colleague there is preoccupied with a sick son, but am talking to colleague in Lisbon, also keeping an eye on co-housing communes in Devon!

MrsDoolittle · 10/06/2005 10:40

Dolbear - I think you should go and get yourself checked out too. Honestly, it worth it for the reassurance alone!!

We are going to move to Newbury where close to dh's work. We'll cut out his commute almost altogether, mine will be hideous but the plan is it will only be for 3 days a week!
My only concern is placing dd ina suitable nursery. I am very wary of the childminding thing, possessiveness I guess.

MrsDoolittle · 10/06/2005 10:43

Okay so how long til I burst with this precious information and tell everyone else?
My family all know and they are all thrilled.
BIL said "What, again??" apparently

TracyK · 10/06/2005 10:52

how many weeks are you MrsD?

Chuffed · 10/06/2005 11:05

MrsD we have told immediate family and I have told a couple of friends, dh has told a friend too. I think it is more for support than anything else but I want to keep it hush until I get past the danger zone.
Isn't it SOOOOOOOO hard.

hunkermunker · 10/06/2005 11:39

Chuffed, great news re your scan - lovely! I don't think DH will be with me for mine as he's just started a new job and wants to show willing. May though - hope he can be, especially for the first one.

Dolbear, have you made your appointment to see the doctor yet? Will nag till you do Seriously, please go and get yourself checked out.

Spagblog - very glad to hear your house looks better than you'd thought

MrsD - I know what you mean re telling people. I told only close family till 12 weeks with DS (despite having had three scans by then and everything looking fine). This time, I don't seem to be able to stop myself telling people! But I figure if it does all go wrong, they're people I'd tell anyway.

MrsDoolittle · 10/06/2005 14:04

Errr I'm not even late yet! I jsut woke up and knew. I did a Boots test, I big fat positive, so did a different one form the GP and another positive.
Hey Lunavix, aren't you near Newbury?

hewlettsdaughter · 10/06/2005 14:06

Glad all went well with the scan, Chuffed.

dolbear, get to the doc's! (could all be fine but it's worth checking).

Fennel - am intrigued by the communes you mention, can you tell more (or did I miss this before?)

MrsD, when are you thinking of going to Newbury? We must make sure and meet up again before you go. If you don't find a nursery place straightaway, could you try a childminder for a little while? You might find it works out? If not, it might just get you over a tricky period while you wait for a nursery place to come up.

Fennel · 10/06/2005 14:35

HD I was elaborating on another thread. we have two plans, one to move somewhere sunny and by water (for DP's windsurfing fetish), maybe abroad for a few years (Oz, NZ, Spain or Portugal mabye - depending on job options. all are sunny with lots of sea). the Commune/co-housing idea is another long term goal, we did live with dsis and her dp and dd but outgrew our house, so now they live down the road. one day maybe we will all live together again, maybe with other people. Devon has various co-housing groups so maybe we'd just join one there (jobs permitting again). then we can be neo-hippies and the dds can run wild.

very idealistic really. will probably be stuck in manchester for ever in real life....

dolbear · 10/06/2005 17:26

thanx everyone , i will go , promise
while I was pg I suffered from v bad piles and got v ' stuck ' should not complain as it was the only realy bad sideaffect i suffered from so i am wondering that now I am a bit run down i am being revisited - so to speak , thankfully not stuck
i joined mumsnet - this thread just after that occured and was v depressed , MN realy cheered me up, cos as u no , you can not take anything for it !

lunavix · 10/06/2005 17:53

MrsD - yes near newbury! why?

I can't believe in 24 hours I'll be married. ARGH!!

My danger zone was 20 weeks when pg due to previous m/c and I was bursting to tell people...

Chuffed · 10/06/2005 18:23

lunavix - good luck for tomorrow - the day will go soooo fast. Soak in every moment!!!!

MrsDoolittle · 10/06/2005 19:15

GOOD LUCK Lunavix.

All the best on your special day!!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

hunkermunker · 10/06/2005 19:40

Lunavix, I hope you have a wonderful day! It goes SO fast - enjoy it! xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

hewlettsdaughter · 10/06/2005 20:50

Oooh lunavix - it's tomorrow?! Good luck, hope you have a great day

Fennel - I'd love to live near the sea. I've always lived about as far away as you can get in England (Nottingham/Birmingham/Oxford). Co-housing thing sounds interesting, shall search for the other thread.

LucyJones · 10/06/2005 20:58

dolbear - hope you feel better soon.
Lunavix - good luck and CONGRATULATIONS for tomorrow
Chuffed - do you have private scans or are you 12 weeks now? It must have been so exciting to see the baby
Hope the morning sickness is okay for all the new mums-to-be
