Thanks girls, for letting me start this thread.

Well as Maisiemog and Biglips have said --- I am pregnant!

OMG - once I got over the shock I am now quite excited and dp is absolutely delighted.

EEK - I'm still on maternity leave!

Anyone else got a small age difference between babas - if everything goes O.K there will only be nearly 16 months between them.

Anyway, dd is fine and is now eating happily if not too well - still a bit of a chunkster - but lovely. She is now also drinking water - hurrah!!!!! Still no teeth or crawling but she is creeping backwards and sits up well.

Hope you are all well - still think this parenthood lark can be difficult!

Florence I'll try the fruit thing, I gave Pog a bit of banana a week ago and he went all quiet and then vomited it back up, I think it stuck in his throat. So bagging it might be an idea, particularly as he has no teeth.

I have noticed Pog has green poo and this has been for the past few days. I'm pretty sure he has a stomach upset, so it could be that. Should I be worried???

Poor babies with sore bums. Kisses to all of them. xxxxxx
Geo, how is the milk coming along? Any improvement yet?
Biglips better get that gate set up...
Ricknan, gorgeous baby - still breakdancing?

geogteach · 24/06/2005 20:42

Milk is fine now thank you drinking full bottles of the prescription stuff and poohing for England! However it smells foul as do his nappies. Also no dairy in his diet which can be tough. For those with sore bums I recomend metanium which is like putting curry paste on their bottoms but works a treat.
Only 4 more weeks of work to go! I've been offered another job but think i'm going to stay at home for a bit.

Maisiemog · 24/06/2005 22:31

Hi Geo, sounds like things are improving, only a week ago...
And you're in demand as well, nice to be wanted isn't it?
Funny you should mention that, we bought metanium today. Weird stuff!
Poor Pog had a weeping red sore on his bot . I put the metanium and it seems to have sealed the sore. Most peculiar.
I was wringing my hands before this, so fingers crossed it's ok. He is such a little muppet, whenever he does poos, he wails and when I wash his bot he is sooo upset. It's very upsetting when they're not well isn't it.

florenceuk · 27/06/2005 19:25

Metanium is fantastic! DD's bum is so much better. Antibiotics still having dramatic effect on her gut. Had an embarassing moment the other day in M&S cafe. DD and I sitting happily eating lunch. DH comes to sit down and says "What's that?" Rivers of runny pooh dripping down from DD onto the floor. We had to take her to the baby changing room and hose her down. Then get the staff to clean it up .

cazzybabs · 27/06/2005 19:33

Hi ladies - hope you are all well. Grace has chicken poxs - HORRAH! It is actully very annoying - I only have 10 days of work before the holidays - but this means I will have to take time off work and so with dp! Grace is actually fine - just a little spotty! She has also taken to crawling on her feet and hands to enable her to move forwards in a dress - it is very funny!

Maisiemog · 28/06/2005 01:58

Florence, aaaargh! That happened a bit with Pog on Friday, but not when we were out.
I tried metanium and it worked better than the other things, but Pog still has a red bot, I think it's his runny tum, but it could actually be a reaction to the metanium itself.
Anyway, enough's enough, I think we'll go to the docs tomorrow to see what we can see.
Cazzybabs, do you mean dd is on her feet as opposed to her knees?
I'm curious because Pog doesn't have much time for the knee crawl, he seems to favour the straight leg on the feet crawl. It's not very efficient! It probably means he inherited his mummy's half a brain.

geogteach · 28/06/2005 18:15

More pox here, DS1 and DS2 this time, I go back to work for 7 weeks and all 3 get it! At least it'll soon be over with and DH is on study leave so I haven't missed work but DS1 is gutted he is missing school trip to the farm.

cazzybabs · 29/06/2005 10:58

Grace is crawling with her hands on the floor and her feet flat on the floor but her knees off the floor. She looks like a wheelbarrow I guess. Its very odd and funny- but quite practical if one is crawling in a dress!

Geogteach - hope yours are on the mend and not sratching too much! Also hope all you pregnant ladies are coping with the heat. We had the most amazing lighning show last night -- it was all around our house and went on for hours. IT was quite amazing - I have never seen anything like it in my life.

biglips · 29/06/2005 12:11

thanks god it had cooled down outside (phew!) as it was hot and sticky yesterday which i didnt like.

Hope all the babas are feeling ok? and hope they are ok with the chicken pox too...

baba is very quick in everything now as she can pull herself up for the past couple of weeks and since last week she been letting go and standing up for a couple of seconds before she falls on her botty (awww really sweet!)

took baba to the beach but we didnt go on the sand, just stayed on the grass part so DP's DD could fly her kite, i put baba on the grass and she was being strange with it again, so i took her shoes off and threw it, baba wouldnt move then 20 mins later she took off like a rocket!!

biglips · 29/06/2005 12:11

yeah the thunder last nite was surreal too !

biglips · 29/06/2005 12:20

DP is in the bathroom drilling off all the old plaster board (2 layers of it!!!) as DPs friend who is a plasterer thought he could put plaster board on straight away thsi morning but seen our plaster board and it is already ready to fall off so it wont be able to hold the new plaster board ( we live in a old house) so DP got to drill it all off back to brickwork and then Dp friend come back tmrw and start putting up the plaster boards up (hooray!)

biglips · 29/06/2005 20:07

oh well, finished getting rid of plaster off wall and now DP is flat out as he had been doing it since 9am this morning and just finished it at 7pm

cazzybabs · 29/06/2005 20:10

Oh what a good dp you have! Mine is still at work - I hope he comes back soon.

biglips · 29/06/2005 20:13

but he had to take 2 days off non-pay leave as hes only got a week left holidays and he wants to use them when he have his older DD for a week about august, so abit of a pain really but bathroom is needed to be done as all we've got in there is the loo - no bath or sink !!

Maisiemog · 29/06/2005 20:25

Biglips Pooooo! No shower or bath, in this weather. What a nightmare.
Cazzybabs, Pog crawls like Grace, and he doesn't even wear a skirt (maybe he wants to?). He has a new crawl as well, which involves him scurrying across the floor in a more normal crawl, towards any food/drink/interesting thing. Wheeee. Aaaargh!
I'm probably being slow, but who has had an 8 month check?
Do they check mums too. I've still got a dodgy back, mind you I've heard bfing doesn't help.
I tried that Pilates cd, but I just couldn't 'get' what she was on about. She kept saying now zip and lock and hollow and tighten.
I've got an operation on July 12th and will be in for two nights, so poor old Pog will have to stay with his daddy and grannies (no doubt).
Not sure how the bf will go whilst I'm in.

florenceuk · 01/07/2005 17:27

Hope renovations are going well Biglips. And good luck with the op Masiemog. At 8mths supply should be well established so skipping a few feeds shouldn't be a problem - I think a few Mumsnetters have done this and you can ask for experiences. Or can you get pog brought to you on a regular basis (otherwise you will be very uncomfortable - I've skipped a few and had boobs like footballs).

Maisiemog · 01/07/2005 19:11

Hi Florence, I know about the footballs thing . I think I might get a single room so Pog can be brought in by dp or dm (is that right - my mum?). I'm going in for the op on the Tuesday afternoon, don't know what time, so we are hoping to bring Pog in before I go in, so I can give him a feed, but I don't know how long the op will take - it's myemectomy (fibroid removal), or how long it takes to come round afterwards.
I'm taking in a hand pump and an electric pump and lots of bottles, but I have no idea if I will feel up to doing much on the Tuesday or even the Wednesday. Don't fancy getting booted in the tummy by Pog much either.
I'll have a look to see if anyone else has had one, to get a rough idea of what to expect.
I've got the phone number of the Staff Nurse, so she will probably know more.
Lovely weather though. I am guessing that's why there aren't many posts.
How are all the babies that had sore bums - jbad?
Are the chicken pox babies getting better???
Questions questions!!

jbadgirl · 01/07/2005 21:33

Hi guys, ds has been doing well over the past couple of weeks with food and nursery. Im finding it so helpful taking him to work with me as i can just pop in and make sure he is ok etc. I now know more how the other parents feel leaving their kids but without the advantage of working there too!!!!!

His sore bum has cleared now, and i found that not using any cream was just as effective. Someone once told me that nappies were so cleverly designed now that we shouldnt need to use cream????

Glad eveyone else lo's are doing well (except for a few cases of chicken pox!)

Ds is getting a new chair for his positioning its a "whale" chair, dont know if any of you have seen them???? Looks like a real contraption but it works well for him. Hope we get it soon.

Im spending most weekend nights alone now as dp works at a local nightclub, its quite nice to have some time to myself and at least i can come and chat on here if i feel lonely!!!!!

cazzybabs · 01/07/2005 21:49

Jabdgirl - I am glad he is doing OK. I often think of your little one.

MaisyMog shall be thinking of you on Tues.

Grace's spots seem to be getting a little better - but she is covered in them from head to toe - its quite horrid!

biglips · 02/07/2005 11:10

maisie - still waiting for the 8 month check up (as i did a thread as was being paranoid that HV had forgotton about me!!) and your baba might be 10 months old by the time the 8 month check will come (baba is 9 months old since yesterday) and bought some really gud toys for her from TK Maxx (one is a musical drum and on the bottom you put shape blocks thru inside the drum and can roll it around too - baba was really excited about it, it was funny and other is the Stacking hen - rings stacked up thru the stick)

baba is getting more confident to hold onto things with one hand and you can see her working really hard ..... still cant believe she is nearly 1 !!!!!

Maisiemog · 02/07/2005 13:26

Thanks Cazzybabs, but don't think about me this Tuesday, because I'll probably be eating tea and cake. I'm not going in until the 12th, so we've got lots of frantic organising to do in the meantime.
I'm sure it will be totally without hitch, but you have to plan for the possible disaster.
I was actually thinking yesterday, that I should write a will.
Biglips, we just received the letter for the 8month check today. But guess what? It's the day after my op, so I don't think we'll be going.
I'll phone them next week, but I would prefer to put it back, because Pog is 3 weeks early, he isn't 8 months (adjusted) for another three weeks.
He can crawl and pick things up and so on, but he doesn't really sit up in a conventional 'sitting squarely on his bottom' kind of way. He kind of lounges on one cheek - like a mermaid.
He can sit in his chair, without holding the arms, but I don't think I could take that with me.
To be honest, him doing any of the things he is supposed to is 50/50 - depends how he feels.
And Biglips, babs isn't quite 1 yet dear. you've got another 4 months to go yet. You'll get her hopes up for a pile of presents if you're not careful.
We received an invitation to a 2 year olds birthday for next weekend. It's over two days (what's that about?) One day is a bouncy play place, and the other is at the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh.
Has anyone taken their LOs to a big birthday like that? How did they get on?

beansprout · 02/07/2005 20:20

Hi everyone (and welcome to the new people). Have been away in Dorset for 2 weeks and guess what? Ds's eczema cleared up, utterly and completely. Am now convinced it is caused by the nasty water we have in London town.

His impetigo is back though (again). If I go to the doc this will be his 4th lot of antibiotics . What could be causing it? Flo - are yours ok now?

Jbadgirl - glad ds sounds ok.
Big snog to everyone else.

KathH · 03/07/2005 09:03

Hi everyone, not been on for ages as theres just not enough hours in the day. Masiemog - know what you mean about writing a Will, i finally got my date for my hernia op, Aug 2nd. I know its ridiculous but am really nervous, i keep thinking should i say a proper goodbye to kids on the morning just in case anything goes wrong. Babymole is sitting, standing, everything really except ruddy sleepng! Well, sleeping thru properly anyway. He was 9 mths on the 1st and i cant believe how quickly the times gone. Drs now looking at milk allergy as altho his reflux is a lot better he keeps getting bouts of the squits. Ah the joys. We bought a Ford Galaxy in the end and its being delivered on Tuesday, am thinking of buying dh a cap and a ticket machine, he's less than thrilled with it. Having a bit of a nightmare with dd1's school at the mo, she's 12 and is being bullied and despite constant visits to school over past year its still going on. I do feel for the teachers tho, my dad was a headteacher so i did get to see things from the other side but i just feel so helpless for her. Anyway luv to all, have got to sort out some things for our holiday today as we're going to Devon in just under a fortnight and feel i should really be a bit more organised. or organised at any level would be an improvement!

biglips · 03/07/2005 10:07

kath - i was thinking about you for the past couple of days but now youre back ....
and good luck for the op.

beansprout - it may be the sun that had cleared the ezcema up!! (i dont know)

thanks flo - bathroom walls are done noe gotta find tiles to put on wall and floor, wanted them tiny tiles that are on the mesh (mosaic style), but to just to do the floor costs us £400!!! aaarrrgggghhhh, we went everywhere and cant find it any cheaper so we have to have a rethink and poss go for the big tiles with a a border

geogteach · 03/07/2005 13:30

I think we are all morphing into the same person, Kath we have a galaxy, my dads a headmaster and DS has a milk allergy, how scarey is that.
After a trip to the out of hours dr on Thurs the ds's seem to be finally getting over the pox DS2 still isn't doing any of that crawling walking standing business yet (thank heavens) but he does have a gob full of teeth, funny all my children have been slow to move but excelled at growing teeth and hair!

Hope everyone else is ok and here is to a week of healthy children
