Thanks girls, for letting me start this thread.

Well as Maisiemog and Biglips have said --- I am pregnant!

OMG - once I got over the shock I am now quite excited and dp is absolutely delighted.

EEK - I'm still on maternity leave!

Anyone else got a small age difference between babas - if everything goes O.K there will only be nearly 16 months between them.

Anyway, dd is fine and is now eating happily if not too well - still a bit of a chunkster - but lovely. She is now also drinking water - hurrah!!!!! Still no teeth or crawling but she is creeping backwards and sits up well.

Hope you are all well - still think this parenthood lark can be difficult!

DS2 thinks grass is for eating, I must be starving him!

Maisiemog · 19/06/2005 22:27

No, Pog eats grass too! That was the second thing he did, after the daisies. Munch!

CoveredInDribble · 20/06/2005 09:19

Morning everyone! Haven't posted for a while cos our PC is in a conservatory-style extension, so with the recent mini-heatwave it's been too damn hot in here to even consider turning the 'puter on!

Ds has his first settling in visit at nursery today, then later it's off to the GP for his 8 month health check. He's another one obsessed with feet (preferably other people's), cables, paper, shoe laces ... the list goes on! Mobile phones and remote controls all now have to live under cushions where he can't see them, as if he sees them but isn't allowed them he screams. He's started crawling, and has gotten pretty speedy, but still only backwards so far, which is pretty amusing for us but seems to frustrate him no end as he reverses away from whatever he was trying to get hold of!

Anyone else's baby struggling with the hot weather? The problem we're finding with ds (apart from his hatred of sunlight - maybe he's a vampire!) is that naturaly with the hot weather, we want to put fewer clothes on him, but then he scratches at his eczema, so we have to keep him fairly covered up, but then if he gets hot, his eczema seems to irritate him more. Ho well. He is at least drinking water now, although only if you take the lid off his cup and use it as a beaker, and kind of feed it to him. It's like he's saying "I'm a big boy mummy, I don't need the spout!". Does get kind of messy when he tries to "help" though!

Hope everyone's had a good weekend and that all the preggars ladies and poorly babies are feeling better.

Maisiemog · 20/06/2005 15:19

Hi Dribble,
It's too hot for babies!!! (and mummies )
Poor old things, they just don't understand?!?
I kept wiping Pog with a wet cloth yesterday, which seemed to help a bit, but he is well clammy a lot of the time.
Pog's still mainly going backwards, although he can do the move legs, lie on tummy and move hands forward, then up again and repeat school of forward movement. It's very complicated all that coordinating limbs.
He did his first actual few steps of proper forward crawl on Saturday and I think he got a bit of a fright, as it was exercised at top speed. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh! Can't STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP! pant pant pant!! Off for a lie down.

staceym11 · 20/06/2005 15:47

Hi im new to this thread, my little on was born oct 22nd, shes starting the moving thing but in this heat all she does is eat whing and sleep, poor baby girl. she loves the grass but as many has got quite a taste for it, the baby in the mirror is fun too, especially as shes just found out she can shout and it does it back, fantastic!

She also discovered the tounge but she did it about 2 month ago the day i had professional photos done so every smiling photo had a tounge it was lovely.

oh there she goes must be off!

hotmama1 · 20/06/2005 16:35

Welcome staceym11 - nice to have another new member.

Hopefully, my one day of being sick (last Wednesday) will be the last - I feel quite blooming now (famous last words I know). DD is still doing the pushing backwards thing and is getting quite fast, can't do the forward thing but can turn direction - funny! Still no teeth!

Got dd a paddling pool and she played in it yesterday - had a splashing time - looked rally cute! It was about 33C yesterday - too bloody hot [melting icon].

Hope you girls are O.K!

Hi Stacey, welcome.
My baby boy: Pog was born, three weeks early, on the 31st of October. This is him doing the tongue thing. He was a bit slow on the uptake, so didn't stick it out until he was 7mths.
I'm in Edinburgh, so it's not been as hot as in the South (thank goodness) but still around the mid twenties, so hot enough thank you.

florenceuk · 20/06/2005 21:40

Hi everyone - well, we have spent quite a bit of time at the doctor's lately, none of it for DD. Poor DS has impetigo, and I just thought he'd picked his nose too much - now I'm worried DD will get it. Hope all those on holiday are having a good time - we are far too hot here, and I am tempted to spend all day in the aircon shopping centre.

Maisiemog, your Pog is such a lovely smiley baby! Have looked at Slave2babe's babe and she is also very cute! DD is actually quite smiley, but we never seem to get a picture of it - she has a Very Important Frown which she puts on especially when DH points the camera at her. She is surprisingly good in the paddling pool and can crawl into the pool quite well, holds onto the edge and splashes round - but can't quite make it out - well, tips herself out on her head and rolls over and squawks. DH was "experimenting" in the bath and reported that she fell over, went under and got back up no problem - lucky I was occupied with DS I think...

biglips · 21/06/2005 14:45

hello everyone - i havent had time to go on computer as it had been gorgeous all weekend but today its alot cooler so im just in the middle of going thru my old tunes esp the 1991 ones as it was rave music then and brings alot of memories as i just left school then and was raving aawwwwwaaayyyyyyyy!!! ha ha ha!!

welcome to Stacey - have fun on here!

this Saturday coming my baba and DP's DD is having professional shoot on Saturday as one of the two girls together and one of all of us. (Cant wait!!)

biglips · 21/06/2005 14:48

Flo - hope your baba be ok with his ezcema whilst being in the sun?

nothing new atm with baba, apart from she is getting better in creches without me being there as ive started to take her to groups 3 times a week and not 1/2 times a week

Maisiemog · 21/06/2005 23:15

Florence, do it! Go to the shopping centre, it's bliss! The aircon! Aaah!
Went round with Pog (who is far from smiley at the moment - he has a super red bum, it's weeping and just awful). So nice to be cool.
It's funny how many mums are wandering around that place in the daytime.
Pog currently crawling around with no nappy watched nervously by me and dp.
Oh and post a photo of dd with her lovely frown, I'd love to see it.

biglips · 22/06/2005 10:27

i took baba to the park yesterday as i thought "she gotta get used to the grass"... so she just sat there and wouldnt move and was staring at the grass, she was trying to pick out one grass and whenever she went near it, she realised there is too many grasses around that one grass!!!! then she saw a Daisy so i thought she deffo crawl to reach the daisy, but she didnt!! as she did get on her fours, she didnt crawl but she really stretched over to grab it (strange child!) i thought it was

staceym11 · 22/06/2005 14:56

Hey, me dd got 2 teeth, she eats everythign in sight normally but at the min she wont even touch it, she didnt wake up till 10 this morning (went to bed 8 last night) and didnt shout to get up, went in to check she ok and she happily laying playing with her dummy (damn thing wish i never gave her one, managed to confine it to the bed now though she dont have it during the day!)

mum2sam · 22/06/2005 21:28

Hi everyone, im new to this thread i have a ds who is 8mths coming up for 9mths(how scarey is that!). Ds has just got his two bottom teeth now aww bless. Should I start to attempt to brush his teeth yet?? He isnt crawling although seems to be very close. He is also very much into bins, cables, paper, carriar bags, remote controls and mobile phones weird how they all think alike! After a few close calls we are definitely going to have to baby proof the house as ds reach in his baby walker is getting alot better arraaagh!

biglips · 22/06/2005 21:36

rickman - im interested in the stairgates as im looking for some too... can you tell me or send a piccy of the stairgates, are they screw-in ones or adjustable ones (not screw-in ones) and the minimum/maximum measurements pls... thanks

biglips · 23/06/2005 20:04

helloooooooo..... is anyone on here 2nite?

is any ones babas arent sleeping in the day cos of the hot weather as mine had been like that for the past 3 days so im hardly having any rest for myself

biglips · 23/06/2005 20:36

hoorayyyyy - babas asleep as i gave her a bottle after she had rice pud, yoghurt and a bit of banana so i think she is stuffed and happy

biglips · 23/06/2005 22:36

oh well it only lasted for half an hour (baba sleep) so i decided to give her a bath and she is all fresh (as she was covered in green suncream) and all WIDE AWAKE , happily playing in the playpen going loony as usual .. had anyone got a very noisy child as mine is very noisy!.

it was funny the other day as i put her in the playpen which she was happy but then 10 mins later she suddenly started to cry and then nearly started to howl... only coz she wanted to sit down as she didnt know how to sit down i think its funny!!!!

and also she is turning into spidergirl as she can pull herself up now (and down! - ) and she was slidng along the armchair and carried on till she fell off the edge of the armchair ! so she just happily picked herself up and carried on...

Maisiemog · 24/06/2005 00:10

Aaah Biglips, she sounds highly entertaining.
It's funny sometimes I forget Pog's around and then I look down and he's rolling about chewing the rug. It's a bit like having a dog, except without the capacity to fetch or obey basic commands.
Poor old Pog is having a bit of a bad time, he had the runs, so a million pooey nappies a day. Then because of the poo, his bum has become very red and raw and has been weeping. I've tried every cream, chamomile tea, bare bums at dawn and it's very gradually going down. But it's so horrible whenever I have to change his bum, poor old thing.
Oh and of course the teeth (wherever they are???)
Does anyone else put frozen peas in a sock? Peasock!

biglips · 24/06/2005 12:54

maisie - awww poor DS as mine was like that couple weeks ago so i put johnson nappy cream and plenty of baths helps to soothe the bum too.

baba stood up on her own for couple of seconds last nite !!!! (aarrgghhhhh! - thats means im gonna be running around everywhere!!! as its bad enough it is with baba crawling everywhere with her sticky fingers)

florenceuk · 24/06/2005 12:57

Well, DD has impetigo as well, so now they're both on antibiotics which has had a terrible effect on poor DD's bum. However she loves the antibiotics, they must be very sweet - opens her mouth and squawks when DS gets his! It's boiling hot as well, but doesn't appear to affected her sleep - still wakes up at 4-5am every morning, sigh....

Maisie, I bought some muslin squares from Lakeland and put apple, pear etc in one and secure with quickclip - works really well, as she can't quite deal with fruit yet in unwrapped state - she sort of chokes and stores it up in her cheeks or in the top of her mouth to be dug out later by me....

Rickman, your baby is lovely. Bibiboo, came across a picture of your DD in the members profile - she's gorgeous! Will have to have a go I think at this for the weekend.
