Cadmum · 02/11/2009 21:10

I only have 5 seconds as I am running off to bed.

llI am 8 weeks but not feeling overly optimistic...

Frizbe · 04/11/2009 23:14

So how's dd2 now then Caddy is she ok? 8 weeks, yikes, well I shall feel optimistic for you!

LL, photos we demand them

Astro, boooo for the house hunting not going so well and bah for 6 year olds, though that been said dd2 has finally reached the effing 3's properly this week, she had a half hour tantrum at nursery when asked to wear her coat and her cardi

Waves at Uni and anyone else out there!

Frizbe · 08/11/2009 10:55

sniffle I have snot, snurfle....

did the grand opening at new store yest, was good day and UQD came down to help us out signing his new book, so was yay!

Astrophe · 09/11/2009 02:17

awesome friz! glad it went well. didn't know you were friends with UQD!

Caddy, how are you? Thinking of you and praying. x

Hi all! Lovely hot day here, catching up on washing, helping kids decorate pics of cupcakes for a competition (DD will be heartbroken if/when she doesn't win...doesn't lose well!) and working with them on a script for a Nativity we will perform and film, then send to far flung friends. Fun day, and DD is being reasonably calm, so yay!

laundrylover · 09/11/2009 11:10

Morning all,

Caddy, am keeping my fingers crossed for you as it sounds like you and DH really want this one to work out eh? Still think you're crazy!

Astro, sunny here too...just put girl's wash out on an airer in the sun rather than risk life and limb clibing on scaffold poles and the giant wood pile in the garden!

Friz, what book did UQD write? (very out of touch with MN here!!)....glad that opening went well - Businesswoman of the Year is calling!!

DP is working away wiring sockets in the kitchen...BIG NEWS...we had lunch at the dining table, in the extension on Sat!! We also no longer have a fridge and 2 massive drawer units in the living room so can all sit down comfortably!!! Wahay! I WILL do pics but am out at work/playgroup committee events Mon, Tues and Weds this week....the playgroup is a pain. The workers are really nice but have no idea about cashflow etc. and can't understand why we are going bust.

Had a big family weekend with bro and family up from Somerset, sis and co from Chorley and sis and the boys down from Scotland. All went well with the only fireworks bring real ones - unusual for us!! Going to pick up Kiah and spend afternoon with sis and boys....

UniS · 09/11/2009 19:23

yo. Bonfire night went well. The burn was fantastic, our volcanic island set went up in a very volcano like way with BIG flames leaping out of the crater.
I REALLY must go and do school application form. AND look for a mortgage. We have had an offer accepted on a house. Hurrah. Its bit smaller than we would have liked BUT its got right number of bedrooms, a woodburner and a fair size garden. Also well insulated and only Band A council tax.

OP posts:
Cadmum · 12/11/2009 10:00

I am so annoyed with MN at the moment! ARGH! All of my posts get lost and then come up with $message $preview or some darn thing!

Cadmum · 12/11/2009 10:01

Well that one worked but the long-winded Caddy novel was lost of course!

Frizbe · 12/11/2009 23:44

Caddy I find if you preview it 1st, and then post it works, but agree its a pita.

Astro, I went on a course of UQD's a while back his latest book is a Dr Who one, but he doesn't like to shout about it too much.....

LL, yay for the house slowly getting sorted, but boo for the guys at playgroup not realising how the finances work hope you can pull it round.

Uni, that's great news re the house and yay for the Fire show going well

Work n more work here, oh and kids parties, seems there was something in the water eh!

Astrophe · 13/11/2009 05:06

I'm getting that same message, but if you use'back' arrow the message is still there waiting, and so I 'post' again, and then it works. Pita.

Doing some nice crafty things with the kids this week - sewing, painting etc. Trying to decide whether to host a childrens Christmas party (an I promised DD) or whether it will be too much for my (teeeny bit fragile) state of mind. Can't decide if it will be a stress, or a nice distraction from other things.

Caddy, how you doing?

So whats with this biscuit? Something to do with the PM conversation??? But what!?

UniS · 14/11/2009 18:52

had a day or two of that seemingly lost message thing, but they showed up if I back paged. dunno.

House.... um, we are having a slight wobble. May be harder to get finance than we thought as its practically a new build BUT with out NHBC paper work, vendor claiming its not a new build but a re-furbishment... If its going to prove un saleable in future we will walk away, not so heart set on it as all that.

Found out from our new across the road neighbours that we had a lucky escape NOT buying the house they have ( we offered, but they offered more) It has a raft of problems coming to light. I'd spotted some of them hence our low offer but not all.

School application done. can now forget about that till Jan. Are all our UK based March babes Jan 2011 starters or is any one in a single intake area Or deferring till easter 2011 or Y1.

OP posts:
laundrylover · 18/11/2009 09:33

Flippin eck no Uni, Kiah will start in Sept 2010 - can't wait as she has turned into a right old moaner.

Re house - we have a house (that we rent out) that has 3 different indemnities on it! One for a conservatory that goes over the right of way, one for a loft conversion that doesn't comply and one for the fact that the Envi Agency won't issue a certificate because the land used to be a garage. When we sell we just sell the indemnities too...it's all a farce as why bother iwth regs in the first place if people can just get round them??

Grumble, groan, moan, moan .

Just heading out to work so only popped by to wave really!!!

Frizbe · 19/11/2009 20:30

Well I've found out by living in this new build, that NHBC only counts if the roof falls off or the wall falls down! any other minor irritants, like the windows being crap, is a no goer....and of course the window co the builders used went out of business straight after the houses were built...... or the pointing needing doing, doesn't count.......

dd2 is off to school in Sept too roll on Sept! she's ready for it!

UniS · 19/11/2009 23:12

the NHBC thing is good for 10 years and as you point out has very limited range, however it seems to be problematic getting a morgaugue on a house this age with out one. *ugger.
DH away till Sat, so not doing much desicion making tillhe's back.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 22/11/2009 21:40

Really seems like a load of diplomatic ** to me eh Uni but we have to go along with these things in the UK eh....I prefer the French, they say if its on your land and falls down, then its your fault much more sound in principle.

Just back from a lovely girls weekend in Brum! nice dinner out last night, in bed at a relatively sensible time and upto go around the German Market this am, followed by lunch and grabbing of dh's Xmas prezzie, then back home to get dh and kids and take ss back to Leeds! (Yes a fair bit of the country covered today) Weather has turned rubbish now though, brrrrrrr.

Astrophe · 22/11/2009 23:56

no idea what you're on about with the house thing sorry - hope you can get it sorted though.

How are you lot going with all that rain? Washed away? Hope you are safe LL and Friz up north.

We have had dreadful weather too - but other end of the spectrum. 42 degrees yesterday. We were in the National Park having a picnic for BIL's b'day, but abandoned it after an hour and went back to FILs house where it was cooler. Big kids coping ok by stayuing inside, or playing with the hose outside (only after 4pm thoiugh due to water restrictions ), little DD2 is just wearing nappy and feeding a lot. Today its 21 apprently - so nice and cool - but set to go up again later in the week. Love the sunburnt country!

How are all your Christmas plans going? You all staying at home or going away on hols?

Cadmum · 23/11/2009 18:50

I have always found the process of buying/selling a house in the UK complicated and stressful. (Things like chains; gazumping; variable possession dates to name a few don't exist in Canada where the laws are obviously newer.)

I hope it all works out for you Uni. My mother always reminds me that her mum endlessly repeated: what is meant for you won't go past you.

Nothing exciting to report from here. To the best of my knowledge I am still pg (11 weeks tomorrow) but I have yet to see a doctor or be booked in for a scan. Ah well... I feel wretched most of the time so that is a good indication.

We don't have any more news on the upcoming move which is stressful given that the original date given was January and we haven't done anything about planning to leave this house or find a new one... I like to keep the suspense going.

I hope this actually posts...

Astrophe · 24/11/2009 12:16

oh caddy, so pleased things are going ok and the little one is hanging on. sorry you feel sick, but I guess its a good sign huh?

Hope you are not tooooooo stressed re move. Is it really going to be Jan? . How are your kids coping/going to cope?

UniS · 24/11/2009 20:00

my word Caddy, you are laid back about this Pregnancy aren't you.
Yep, this house either will happen or won;t. frankly the vendors best chance of getting most of his investment back soon is to buy the necessary insurance policy and sell us the house. We can;t buy it with out one, and we can't buy a policy either. As vendor was also builder they could not provide them selves with insurance... its complicated, shall we leave it at that.

OP posts:
Cadmum · 25/11/2009 09:13

Uni: I am not sure that I am laid-back about anything... Tis resignation. There is nothing I can do when every single care provider that I ring tells me that their soonest opening is in January.

Resistance is futile. In the event of an emergency, I will present myself to the emergency room of the local hospital.

I hope you get some joy with the house. How stressful!

Astro Thanks for your kind words. We are all coping with the stress well except for dh. He is tired of the Hurry-up and Wait of it all. The dcs are really looking forward to a change and I am feeling slightly too nauseous to give it much thought. When I come out of the morning-sickness haze (next week) I might start to panic.

LL and Friz: I hope you are both well.

Astrophe · 25/11/2009 10:41

You are a brave lady Caddy. Moving internationally whilst pregnant is stressful (I've done it twice - I expect you've done it more times than that!?) but you will manage I'm sure. Will you be having bub in Cambodia then? How does that go then? Maybe you should pop to Sydney for the birth instead .

LL - where are these photos then? Friz, how goes the shop? Uni, how goes the house?

so tired - big day today Christmas shopping with 3 darlings - and they were good, but so excited and wild and went tearing around the mall almost skittling old dears over everywhere, so I'm a bit frazzled now!

I'm almost done though (yay!) - just got to take each big DC individually to buy a gift for each other, and then order UK gifts online. Hurrah!

laundrylover · 25/11/2009 17:44

Caddy...you are a wonder woman.

Photos....not got round to it - am rubbish. I am sitting at the dining table though and DP is plumbing the sink and dishwasher (wahay -am going to put Mooncup in for virgin voyage!!) so the extension DOES exist!!

Astro, your Xmas shopping sounds mad. I have done some of mine as bought 7 sock dolls of old lady neighbour for charity. Have picked up some bits for girls and have necklaces from Turkey for nieces. Sis has done photo calendar for my mum. Few more to get but can't think about it yet. I tend to keep thinsg to a minimum - we don't buy for siblings for instance and do a charity donation instead.

Uni, you are right he does need to take out an insurance policy or he will never sell. Hang on in there if you want the house.

Got Kiah's school form in at last so another thing ticked off endless list.

Off to London for a couple of days in the morning (unpaid work but looking forward to a break).

Cadmum · 25/11/2009 19:29

Normally I would refuse to accept the title of Wonder Woman but dh has just informed me that he leaves on Monday for Copenhagen and that he will not be back until December 19 which incidentally is 2 days after his grad ceremony in London.

I hate the fact that he is so indispensable at work that he is utterly useless to those of us that the job is supposed to support. I do not want to be a single parent for the three weeks that precede Christmas again. I am seriously fuming about the whole thing...

On second thought: I guess that I will hand in the red boots, the funky headband and the strapless body suit. I don't deserve it as I am now just a puddle of tears (a-la-three-year-old-tantrum-style). Waaaaaaaaah!

Astrophe · 25/11/2009 22:43

Oh dear Caddy That really is miserable, wish there was something I could do. I don't blame you for being puddle of tears. Does this mean packing by yourself, or does it not look like it will be Jan moving afterall?

LL, glad the extension going well, even if we can't see it .
We don't have masses of shopping either - do a secret santa amongst adults, so only have one to buy from me (and one from DH of course, who wouldn't have a clue what to get anyone!), we onlt have one niece, and then we only get the kids one 'big' present and a couple of little bits like a book, sweets etc. I do like getting all the shopping done early though because then we can really enjoy Christmas without being stressed and can have time to do fun christmas craft and lots and lots of baking!

Have fun in London. I am always when you go - I love London.

UniS · 25/11/2009 22:44

Oh BUM caddy that really isn;t fair is it. may I offer you the tea room chocolate box of requirement. ( on loan from another thread I'm on). This handy box of choc will mysteriously contain exactly teh chocolates or other candy/ nuts you like and there is never a bottom layer run out problem.

If you fancy checking out the tea room and coming for a moan or a foot massage from the butler its hidden in one child families bit of mumsnet. Number of children is however not a condition of entry.
