wow, excitement all 'round! New shop for Friz, new home for Uni, renovated home for LL...yippee! Still house hunting here (a bit dispiriting), but hopefully we will join the excitement soon. Actually, come to think of it - our exciting news is that Clemmie slept 4 hours last night! yay! Strangely I feel more exhausted than normal today (did have a migraine though, so maybe just a bit knocked out from that..) am going to bed now and hoping for another good night

Frizbe · 28/08/2009 19:47

yay Astro that's great, well done Clemmie

We're heading for Bournemouth this week, so may not be around much, though may get online at Flames! as will be popping by to see her, whilst we're down there hoping for the grandparents to look after the kids for a night too, maybe?....we'll see eh

UniS · 28/08/2009 21:10

Yo all. evening from soggy village under dartmoor. A real day of dartymoor sunshine today, showers every 10 mins. Boy and I ignored some of them to spend an hour in teh garden playing tennis ( with imaginary net and rackets) football (imaginary goals) and doing some ( all too real) weeding.

remind me NOT to take DH and boy shopping at Lidl at teh same time. They were as bad as each other. Boy doesn;t like shopping and wants to hang on the side of trolly, DH doesn't like shops he doesn;t know, especially if tehy don;t have signs for where things are to found, and even more specially if teh food is scattered around between random crap on special offer AND teh prices are hard to find, ANd he doesn;t recognise teh brands.... I could have cheerfully throttled both of them.
Ended up going to waitrose as well in teh end as Lidl din;t have evey thing we wanted. Ho hum. Maybe after next week I be able to do teh big shop while boy is at preschool and dh at work.

And Yes, boy DOES have a preschool place in teh village, just one morning a week for this term. heard yesterday. SO he will be doing max funded hours this term. 12 at city preschool in 2 long days while I "work" and 3 at village. The city preschool is in a pilot 15 hr funded area, so I just have to get teh forms filled in right, giving hours 1-3 to village and 4-15 to city. I hope, if that doesn;t work, we will pay for village for a term.

Uni, that's good news about the boy getting sorted with places - sounds a bit complicated but at least you have some time to yourself and you can supermarket shop in peace!

Friz, another shop - wow! how exciting. Hope you get some staff for this one so that you don't end up running yourself ragged....are you still down south or back home for school?

Go Clemmie, go!!!

Well, girls off to school today - Kiah insisted on wearing uniforn bless her. I have just about caught up on emails and filling in my diary - looking busy for next two months so MUST do my coursework next week! Am having a night away in Bristol for a conference and London for a networking event which I am looking forward too. I really find train journeys and hotels very relaxing!

House is coming on and I found 2 hours to knock out the fireplace too - very satisfying. All three knock throughs are now done and RSJs in place so dusty work over for now and I can unseal the cooker! DP just ordering roof as I found decent tiles that comply with regs and architect says we can upgrade to HUGE Veluxes too. Next job is to get windows and bifold ordered and measured to fit properly...hoping rain holds off so brickwork can get up to roof height today....all go!

Cadmum · 03/09/2009 15:10

Friz: Well done on a second shop. Brilliant!

Astro I hope that you find the perfect house for your fabulous sleeper. Have I mentioned that Charlie has yet to sleep through an entire night?

LL Sounds as though your house is coming together. How will you fill the hours when it is done?

Uni My lot hate shopping as well but Lidl have great chocolates so that usually sweetens the deal. DH generally prefers the bigger shops but the price at Lidl on some of the basics cannot be beaten.

So it wouldn't be a fun post from me unless it included a fair amount of moaning and a touch of excitement right?

Well, we are thinking about another possible move and the front-runners are Phnom Penh, Cambodia or NYC again. Of course it will take time to hear about either post for sure but DH is being told (from somewhat reliable sources) that both jobs are his to refuse.

Cambodia would be shorter working house and a leisurely lifestyle beside the pool for a year and NYC would be promotion with all that the hectic North American work hours would entail.

I am not fussed about either but that is easy to say since I like living here while DH and the DC don't.

Oh, and I am trying to decide if the second line on the pregnancy test is an evap line or a bfp... Tis purple like the control line but it did not appear until after the suggested time... Too scared to even contemplate taking another test.

You can laugh now. I am always happy to provide entertainment value.

Astrophe · 04/09/2009 01:51

Ohhhh Caaaaddddddyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What news????

Ours is, we rented a house. Hurrah! We move on the 11th.

Cadmum · 04/09/2009 08:19

Blush Smile

Cadmum · 04/09/2009 08:22

OK... That was strange. I did not hit post message.

No more news to report. I was going to retest this morning but I cannot find the second test from the box. Busy 3 year old fingers at work, I bet. I just hope that 12 year old ds1 does not find it first. He will NOT be amused.

Astro Congrats on the house! You must be so looking forward to having your own space. I am sure that your parents will miss the LOs though.

Cadmum · 04/09/2009 08:23

Oh, we are off to the Alsace region to camp this week-end so I will report back on Sunday evening with definitive answer.

Astrophe · 04/09/2009 13:03

Argh, Caddy, the suspense will kill me! I hope it's good news - whatever that may be for you

Yes, we are stoked about the house! Trying to buy a fridge and washer this weekend, and bunks for the kids, then pack next week and then we're off It's my b'day next and I'm going to ask for some vegie plants and a garden fork and watering can - can't wait to get stuck in, I still miss our veg garden in Derby.

UniS · 04/09/2009 19:38

Caddy!!!!!! what are you like. do you just have to look at your bloke to be up the duff?

OP posts:
laundrylover · 07/09/2009 10:15

Caddy you are a very naughty lady going off and leaving us all of a dither!!!! BTW can you move to Cambodia please as we were meant to go there and then my cousin got cancer (how inconsiderate!) and moved home.....

Astro, sooooo pleased about the house, it will be so much better for you. I don't know how you've stuck house sharing for so long woman.

Look at me - can you tell I'm 'doing my coursework'????

Cadmum · 07/09/2009 13:47

Sorry for not reporting back yesterday. We didn't get back until 11:00 pm and I still don't know what is what!

No 'real' news about new job options.

Second BFP on Saturday but spotting today... Not holding out much hope but you never know.

Not too sure how I feel about either option so watching with fascination. (This is easier since being upset about something over which I clearly have no control at this stage seems pointless.)

Uni The answer to your question is yes.

Astro Sorry for keeping you in suspense. It is nice to have company though!

LL I will try my best to move to Cambodia. What were you thinking about going there for? Apologies for the dither. NOW: Get your coursework done!

laundrylover · 08/09/2009 09:44

Caddy, do you really want another though? I can't believe that Charlie is still not sleeping through. You must be knackered. We've had one night of Tilly coughing and then Kiah last night, who kindly got in with us and complained it was too hot!! Two nights is enough for me.

Cambodia....we would like to go to Angkor Wat etc. and do a river trip type thingy. Kids were a bit young for the malaria risk really so we should put it back on the list now they are a bit bigger. Mind you I was thinking of camping in France this summer....we will be skint after this build is finished so might only make Skegness.

Have nearly finished one big bit of my coursework....

Cadmum · 08/09/2009 17:18

LL Well done on the course work!

Not too sure about wanting another one. Slightly late to say after a BFP though...

Bleeding properly today which means that I won't have to ponder that question any more this month.

Dh was quite happy with the idea so I suppose that I could be convinced either way. The big issue is that one more actually means two more for me since I am not keen on uneven numbers but Hey-ho... Nature seems to take its course and I am very, very blessed to have the four we do have.

Charlie is a right stinker in the night but an angel during the day--go figure! (This could explain why dh is thinking that more wouldn't be such a bad idea. )

Frizbe · 09/09/2009 20:41

at you Caddy, I go away for a week and look what happens! {{Hugs}} for the bleeding though, but sounds like you've made up your mind for another two!! I'd say Cambodia for the experience, after all you can do NYC anytime by the sound of things and Cambodia may happen only once, how long would the post be?

Uni, great news that you're in the at the local nursery sounds like its coming together nicely, are you enjoying tinkering with your new house?

Astro well done on the new house! hope you get your veggie prezzie request, its fun to see what works and what doesn't, I've had horrible blight attack all my tomatoes this year, lost all 6 plants to it , but my peas, carrots, spring onions and stawbs were great

LL, yay for the house, it sounds like its going to be great, do we get to see photos?

I finally got my new sink fitted on the friday before we went away and its so nice to have a stainless steel sink in, with a mixer tap that doesn't leak
Thanks for the thanks on the store, its not signed yet though, struggling with damn solicitors, theirs has apparently gone on annual leave was supposed to be back by now, but apparently isn't dh is getting unbearable to deal with about it all, as he just wants it signed and sorted and is venting at me

laundrylover · 09/09/2009 22:42

Oooh sounds frustrating Friz - solicitors operate in a different time zone and at a pace known only to them I think!

Yes, I should put some house photos on Facebook....might wait until there's a bit more progress to see though. Roof rafters going up tomorrow so give me a nudge to upload some photos next week eh?

DP and I off to wedding in Ireland on Fri...2 nights away!!! Can't wait.

Astro, what veggies are you going to grow...gon on inspire me for when I get my garden back from the building site!

Frizbe · 11/09/2009 22:07

Oooh sounds lovely LL have a great time.

Looks like I'm on granny sitting duty tomorrow and unless I can get hold of any more family Sunday too, as my nan walked into the local police stn this morning and announced my auntie had been kidnapped
I kind of want to laugh, but I guess plot loss is not funny....

(Auntie is on holiday) my dad had to go and retrieve my nan and assure the police all is well, however, and this is the great bit, my parents are going away for 3 days tomorrow am,(and won't not go) my dad doesn't have a contact tel for my auntie but someone has to keep an eye on my gran, as she refused to go and see the Dr/Social services this afternoon and thus they can't come to her till next week.......she's also complaining that people have been in her house, that there's dirt everywhere (we think its her cateracts getting worse, but she's 95 so Dr's won't operate) so I get the job of going over to check she's ok, unless I can track anyone else down to help (rather annoyed at my dad as its his mum and he should cancel his small break and look after his own mother really) ho hum, the hazards of getting older eh.

Astrophe · 12/09/2009 01:11

Hello news-y ladies!

Caddy, I hope you are doing ok.

Friz, hope things get sorted asap and that DH is a bit kinder to you. Men eh?

LL - YES! Photos please.

Uni, hope you are enjoying your new place and settling in well.

Middle of moving weekend here - total chaos. Our stuff id scattered around here, in storage, at my PILs house, and we have to collect things from a furniture shop and an ebay seller too...not straightforward! Fridge is being delievered 10 minutes ago, but I can't get to the house at DH has one car and mu mum has the other with the kids at swimming lessons! Argh!

We cleaned the house yesterday - pretty revolting...how do people live like it? I'm not super clean and tindy, but cobwebs so thick you can't see out the window...? Food splashes all down the cupboards...? Thankfully we had lots of help, especially as DS has a vomity bug.

Hoping I'll feel better about the whole thing today as its mostly clean now and we start the fun part of unpacking boxes and finding stuff we haven't seen since we left Derby!

Vegies - we had best sucess with lettuce and courgettes last time. Beans and tomatoes were alo pretty good, carrots were a huge flop (although quite funny - came out in bizarre gnarly shapes!). Radishes were great...except that nobody would eat them! We have lots of room so might try squash or watermelons too...wait and see what pressies I get tomorrow!

Astrophe · 12/09/2009 01:13

Oh Friz, sorry to hear about Granny Sorry, didn't see your message as I hadn't refreshed the screen since last night.

UniS · 12/09/2009 17:56

Astro- heres to your new house. . I hope your cleaning makes you happy, and teh unpacking goes well.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 14/09/2009 09:16

yay for new house Astro, though sorry about the grotty state it was in, I can't understand living like that either Hope ds is feeling better too?

Granny wasn't too bad to look after actually, its her sight going that's bothering her the most and its getting her upset, but her short term memory is defo on the blink/way out now too, we sat and did a load of cards for peoples birthdays this week,(she had them all out ready for me to help her with) whilst dh and the kids played in the garden, then took her to the shops and posted them n got some food in for us/her. I rang my auntie yesterday, when she got back and filled her in (my message for my cousin had gone to her ansa tel, as he's not told his work his own home no ) so with that and my dad on there she knew there was a spot of bother! The first thing she said was that nan had already done the cards with her week before too! so everyone is getting double cards this year possibly for the last time? as I'm not sure she'll survive a move? we'll see, Auntie n Dad can sort it out this week, but she sure can't stay on her own.... she's nearly 96 though, so has done very well so far.

laundrylover · 14/09/2009 10:55

Friz, it sounds like you did very well with your Gran. Do you remember my nan had a fall when my parents were away and booked into the hosp under the wrong name! Then she got really ill when my mum had the one chest infection of her entire life and couldn't be near her. Anyroads you miss them when they're gone I tell you. She sounds like she is doing amazingly well for 95...I'll be totally ga-ga at 70...well on the way already.

Astro, I know totally how you feel having to clean the house as we gave up on that one just the other week. Horrible. Will be great to unpack all your stuff though eh?

Wedding was fab. Got incredibly drunk and even smoked Marlboros which is very rare these days! DP made me leave at 2am and then we walked 3 miles back to hotel (me in stacker boots!). I went for a wee in a field and fell over with my bum hanging out!! It was just like being a student all over again....caught up with the bride as well as 2 other girsl I lived with. One has been in hosp with mental health issues and the other just going for 4th round of IVF then foreign adoption. I tell you, we never had these worries at uni...just what time to start on the cider.

Frizbe · 14/09/2009 21:32

LL sounds like you had a great weekend
I'm well on my way to being gaga now too! I reckon its kids do it to your brain cells! my auntie went to look at a home for gran today, but hated it....so she's not going anywhere soon at this rate!

laundrylover · 15/09/2009 10:55

I think with homes you have to just keep looking....the one my nan went in was lovely - my mum has requested that we put here there too (not yet tho)! Word of mouth is the best way to go so ask around....

Did a most pathetic run/wobble/walk this morning, not sure why as have been doing fine. Anyway it still wakes me up.

Sis coming down from Scotland with the babies on Thurs for long weekend so my parents will get to meet the latest arrival - as he arrived at silage time he was low priority!!

Hope all well...Caddy how you? and Uni, are you all settled in now?
