Hi all and happy belated Easter....chocolate...mmmmmm....

Just catching up on the thread and all our differing school hols...mine have been off a week and off this week too. Fairly straightforward I think.

Astro - you are allowed to be as narked as you like with your family, it is your right as a pregnant womanGrin. 3 girls...rather you than meWink. My two are driving me up the wall, mind you I have had terrible PMT for nigh on a week...

We got back yesterday from a long weekend camping in Yorkshire. Met up with mum and dad who have embarked on their mega walk to the new house in Scotland. We did a 2 mile stroll with them one day and then a 6 mile hike which I was really proud that the girls managed with minimal shoulder rides.

We also went to Forbidden Corner which was a huge hit (any one been??) and Brimham Rocks twice (another one to add to your Days Out lists). Great area for a break.

Anyhows I'm back at the PC for 3 days whilst kids are farmed out before we go to Alston for the next bank holiday weekend and meet my sisters and parents. It's their ruby wedding anniversary and they're having a whole day off to rest their blisters!!

Borisismyhousespider · 26/04/2011 23:39

WOW LL that's a cracking walk to their new house! Grin hat's off to them for doing it, it's a very long way!

Kids still off here too, till next Wed!!

Astro can totally see where your coming from {{{Hugs}}}

U5 · 29/04/2011 23:16

evening all. bit busy in RL. havn't seen boy in days as hes been asleep in morning and evenings and I've been working 12 hours days. DH is coping with house and boy this week.

Astrophe · 02/05/2011 04:49

Have I misunderstood you LL - your parents are walking to Scotland!???

Thank you, with your kind permssion I have continued to be narky at both SIL and FIL :o As for 3 teenage DDs Shock, hopefully it wont be too terrible as DD1 will be 20 when DD3 is 13...just means we've spread the hormones out over more years huh!? I think it means we'll have at least one teenage DD for 13 years (and breath, Astro!). Eek.

All back at school now after easter hols? And did you all enjoy your holiday on Friday? We didn't get one of course, despite being part of commonealth (where are the perks!?). But the wedding was on in the evening here so we watched and enjoyed. DD1 was a bit put out that they hadn't asked her to be a flower girl because, as she said with a huff "I've done it before so I would have known exactly what to do".

UniS · 02/05/2011 21:36

13 YEARS of teenager in the house.... Oh Astro, what Have you done..... much sympathy. is it too late to sell one of them?

Astrophe · 06/05/2011 08:11

what price do you have in mind uni Wink?

Borisismyhousespider · 08/05/2011 00:23

Grin Uni, run, now!!

Yep you heard right Astro, LL's parents are WALKING!!! to Scotland.....LL did they get sponsered by anyone to do this? (thinking walking boot firm or scholl shoes!!!)

So tired here, but dh has only just got in from work, hence I'm posting on here at this time, whilst he scoffs his tea! mad week back at work (only had to do Wed-Today, but it seems busy you know, that's what happens when you get forced to take a load of bank holidays eh!

Astro, yep watched the wedding a bit here, well actually more than we intended, as the girls started watching it with me, then left to do crafting, but I had coffee and was still in my jammies!! so I took the opportunity to stay put on the sofa in peace!

laundrylover · 09/05/2011 18:44

Hi girls,

Just grabbed a minute as I have nearly finished drafting a Business Plan tHAt I should've done weeks ago. Deadline today for a commissioner who doesn't need to view all my comments! I am having to wait for DP to return to insert an Excel budget as I have very nearly thrown the laptop in the pond just now trying to do itAngry. When will this work ever end?????

The parents are on the leg to Edinburgh...were at Melrose last nightSmile...no sponsorship, just doing their thang!!

We spent the weekend camping in a scout field near Bristol for a friend's wedding - had a great time despite the rain....a shelter had to be made for the BBQ but it stayed dry in the afternoon for the space hopper racesGrin.

The bride and grOom are off for 2 months in their campervan with their 3 year old twins...bring back memories Astro??

Made us have very itchy feet! What shall we do in 2012???? Suggestions on a postcard please.....

CADDY - WHERE ARE YOOOOUUUUU???????

Cadmum · 15/05/2011 05:45

I am here. I try to follow along but with wallowing for a bit and a connection that is so pathetic that we have dubbed it the intermittent-net, I haven't been posting much.

We are still in Phnom Penh. Dh signed a new contract that extends our stay until Dec 31, 2011. This is a good thing as we all love it here and nobody wants to move--yet.

Congrats on a third dd, Astro. I fully appreciate your anger at sil. She really was out of line to share your secret. My bil and sil have four girls and one boy.

Hello to everyone else from hot and muggy Cambodia!

laundrylover · 16/05/2011 16:59

Hot and muggy beats cold and rainy though Caddy Wink. Lovely to hear from you and wallowing is totally allowable. Funny to hear you talk of a stay until Dec as 'long term'...I feel very glued to this house at the mo...itchy feet getting itchier.

I'm off to the Community Centre committee meeting tonight..I've been doing some consultancy for them but have been a bit lax, mostly as they have gievn me hardly anything to go on. In truth they have loads of dosh in the bank compared to my other clients and I don't really feel motivated to write bids for them that will probably fail...moan, moan!!

My work has finally tailed off and my mission before May is out is to clear all the post it notes off my screen so I can once again view my beautiful daughters' facesSmile...you'll have to see if I manage it. Then we are off for a couple of weeks school hols and up to Scotland for the last week....hope Mum and Dad will be just at their new house. They are speeding along on their walk now my Mum's blisters are healed. After a day off in Edinburgh they are over the bridge and well up the Fife coastal pathShock.

Astro/Uni - are you Apprentice fans (I'm thinking not for Uni!)??? Am I allowed to indulge in Apprentice-speak??

UniS · 16/05/2011 23:13

what is this apprentice of which you speak??

Year 2 went for an apprentice day at the local National Trust run Forge, they loved shovelling sawdust and coal and pumping bellows.
Year R had a trip to same place, they made may garland hats and clay and flower faces to decorate the cafe.

OP posts:
laundrylover · 16/05/2011 23:33

That is pretty much the same as The Apprentice UniGrin. Only the one who shovels the most, makes the best hat and is a smooth talker gets a job at the end of it.

Borisismyhousespider · 30/05/2011 10:41

LL you can speak Apprentice, I've been watching! quite like the Irish guy, he's my fav at the moment! do you know any of them?

Caddy did I just read right on FB, Vienna? again???

Astro, Uni hello!

We have kittens! one week now until they can be jabbed and go out! one girl, one boy, the girl started off timid, but as usual with us girls, is now bossing the boy around Smile

Half term week and it's raining, oh joy.....still weather Wed onwards shows good! summer will be back Smile

Borisismyhousespider · 05/06/2011 22:47

Woooot school is back tomorrow!! on the downside that does mean I had to be organised and make packed lunches! the plus side, is I get a whole few hours to myself tomorrow to do me stuff, on my day off!!! (which is actually boring stuff like take cats to vets and dig garden) but you get the drift!
Hope all your half terms were fun (those of you in UK anyway!) I'm lookingforward to having the house more sorted by the summer hols, so we can get more done with the kids ourselves Smile or at least use the garden properly!

laundrylover · 05/06/2011 23:10

We have another week off so me and the kids got the train up to stay with my minor celebrity parents! Google tom Elaine 500 miles to see what I mean Grin. Trying to post from my phone but keep losing the message box....see if this works....

Borisismyhousespider · 07/06/2011 22:31

Strewth LL they made the 'whispers' Daily Mail (should I spit now)
Well done to them! am off to read all about it!

Astrophe · 08/06/2011 01:45

wow your parents ll! what will they do now?

7 weeks to go here, feeling reasonable for late pregnancy. kids in week 7 at school and kindy, so 3 weeks to go, then 2 weeks holiday and then bub will hopefully arrive in week 2 or 3 next term, so hopefully it will go quickly.

Still no decisions re name - ideas?

Its getting pretty cold here but I still scoff like a brit when I see people rugged up in hats, gloves, scarves and coats and think they are hamming it up a bit, for 8 degrees. We do really feel it inside the house though, as we don't have heating (have a little electric heater of course) !

trying to toilet train DD2 before the little one arrives, but to no avail. I think she is just stubborn. We've had 1 or 2 sucesses a week for the last month, but she is still merrily weeing on the floor and then cheerfully saying "never mind! get a cloth, clean, clean!" and plodding off to get a terry nappy to wipe it up, completely unconcerned. Tips? In a few weeks I'll just give up and say we'll leave it until summer when baby is 5 months or so.

UniS · 08/06/2011 22:19

eck astro thats gone fast hasn;t it. Re potty training... I'd give it a rest for now. Sounds like DD just isn't bothered or willing or able ( delete as you feel right) to do anything about taking herself to loo or telling you. wait till shes a big sister and try again in summer. She may be willing to leave baby nappies behind then and become one of the big girls.

Half term over and done with. Was rather bike orientated. 21 mile ride at start of week, then an under 8s bike race ( boy came 2nd , beating some 7 & 8 yr olds) and then I took him to his first bike club session. Its too far to do on a school night but I'll take him in the holidays.

I have booked our summer holiday !!! hurrah for me. First time in ages I've had to be soooo organised and book accommodation in advance like this. But I realised that Devon in August is not a spontaneous sort of place for Yurts or nice hotels.

Gosh Astro that has really flown by...you can nick Matilda off me for Aussie authenticity!!

Just got on here and now have to go as DP and T home from Beavers..the girls come to circuit training with us on a Weds (they play on our phones!)...I have to do bedime story berfore we go...ah well at least I managed to say hello!

Borisismyhousespider · 18/06/2011 23:43

Hi girls

Astro that's gone so quickly! will have a think for names....Romilly is one I've always liked, but dh veteo'd it here....are you thinking traditional?

Uni, very organised of you, I've just been looking at my inlaws holiday photos and thinking, ahhh maybe next year....or maybe the year after.....house is coming 1st this year! 'tinker, tinker' (garden actually!)

Waves at LL

I did drag dd1 out on her bike whilst I ran the other week (left dd2 at grans) does that count as good exercise for the two of us?

Cadmum · 19/06/2011 16:04

Hello! Still nothing new to report from the Cadclan...

Just having a peek at the threads I am watching and trying to catch up with your goings-on.

More soon.

UniS · 20/06/2011 19:04

Sounds like very excellent exercise plan boris.

Borisismyhousespider · 27/06/2011 22:30

Smile it's failed so far this week as I'm managing to be poorly today, not a well bunny in this heat....very thankful I live near my parents today! as they picked girls up from school, fed them, bedded them for me, whilst I lay about feeling rancid, mums are great Smile

Good news though, dd2 has been taught to ride without stabilisers tonight by grandad! huzzah!! she can join in the exercise kick soon too!! (or will I wear her out?)

Astro, I had another cracking name for you the other day, but I've forgotten it, doh!

UniS · 28/06/2011 21:11

Horray for boy- proud mummy moment alert-
Boy has moved onto Red band books from school.

He liked very much having a football related biff/ chip/ kipper to read tonight as his first "official" red band book.

Hello all! Dd2 started school today.

It was a crazy, last minute decision based on the availability of a morning place at a new Montessori school with a lovely teacher from North America. (They also agreed to let her 'try' it for a month.) She loved every minute of it!

I was feeling overwhelmed with the lack of schooling happening with her older siblings whilst she was either bored or interrupting.

I am feeling like a bit of a sell-out since I have recently convinced two other families that it is entirely possible to home-educate children of varying ages...and both of these families have children the same age as dd2. Assuming that she continues to thrive there, I will have some explaining to do to the lovely mum's when they get back from summer vacation.

Well done UniBoy! Reading is so great!

Riding with no stabilisers already, Friz?!? It has been way too hot here to even contemplate cycling...
